Proverbs 14

حکمت بی بی اپنا گھر تعمیر کرتی ہے، لیکن حماقت بی بی اپنے ہی ہاتھوں سے اُسے ڈھا دیتی ہے۔

Every wise woman buildeth her house: but the foolish plucketh it down with her hands.

جو سیدھی راہ پر چلتا ہے وہ اللہ کا خوف مانتا ہے، لیکن جو غلط راہ پر چلتا ہے وہ اُسے حقیر جانتا ہے۔

He that walketh in his uprightness feareth the LORD: but he that is perverse in his ways despiseth him.

احمق کی باتوں سے وہ ڈنڈا نکلتا ہے جو اُسے اُس کے تکبر کی سزا دیتا ہے، لیکن دانش مند کے ہونٹ اُسے محفوظ رکھتے ہیں۔

In the mouth of the foolish is a rod of pride: but the lips of the wise shall preserve them.

جہاں بَیل نہیں وہاں چرنی خالی رہتی ہے، بَیل کی طاقت ہی سے کثرت کی فصلیں پیدا ہوتی ہیں۔

Where no oxen are, the crib is clean: but much increase is by the strength of the ox.

وفادار گواہ جھوٹ نہیں بولتا، لیکن جھوٹے گواہ کے منہ سے جھوٹ نکلتا ہے۔

A faithful witness will not lie: but a false witness will utter lies.

طعنہ زن حکمت کو ڈھونڈتا ہے، لیکن بےفائدہ۔ سمجھ دار کے علم میں آسانی سے اضافہ ہوتا ہے۔

A scorner seeketh wisdom, and findeth it not: but knowledge is easy unto him that understandeth.

احمق سے دُور رہ، کیونکہ تُو اُس کی باتوں میں علم نہیں پائے گا۔

Go from the presence of a foolish man, when thou perceivest not in him the lips of knowledge.

ذہین کی حکمت اِس میں ہے کہ وہ سوچ سمجھ کر اپنی راہ پر چلے، لیکن احمق کی حماقت سراسر دھوکا ہی ہے۔

The wisdom of the prudent is to understand his way: but the folly of fools is deceit.

احمق اپنے قصور کا مذاق اُڑاتے ہیں، لیکن سیدھی راہ پر چلنے والے رب کو منظور ہیں۔

Fools make a mock at sin: but among the righteous there is favour.

ہر دل کی اپنی ہی تلخی ہوتی ہے جس سے صرف وہی واقف ہے، اور اُس کی خوشی میں بھی کوئی اَور شریک نہیں ہو سکتا۔

The heart knoweth his own bitterness; and a stranger doth not intermeddle with his joy.

بےدین کا گھر تباہ ہو جائے گا، لیکن سیدھی راہ پر چلنے والے کا خیمہ پھلے پھولے گا۔

The house of the wicked shall be overthrown: but the tabernacle of the upright shall flourish.

ایسی راہ بھی ہوتی ہے جو دیکھنے میں ٹھیک تو لگتی ہے گو اُس کا انجام موت ہے۔

There is a way which seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death.

دل ہنستے وقت بھی رنجیدہ ہو سکتا ہے، اور خوشی کے اختتام پر دُکھ ہی باقی رہ جاتا ہے۔

Even in laughter the heart is sorrowful; and the end of that mirth is heaviness.

جس کا دل بےوفا ہے وہ جی بھر کر اپنے چال چلن کا کڑوا پھل کھائے گا جبکہ نیک آدمی اپنے اعمال کے میٹھے پھل سے سیر ہو جائے گا۔

The backslider in heart shall be filled with his own ways: and a good man shall be satisfied from himself.

سادہ لوح ہر ایک کی بات مان لیتا ہے جبکہ ذہین آدمی اپنا ہر قدم سوچ سمجھ کر اُٹھاتا ہے۔

The simple believeth every word: but the prudent man looketh well to his going.

دانش مند ڈرتے ڈرتے غلط کام سے دریغ کرتا ہے، لیکن احمق خود اعتماد ہے اور ایک دم مشتعل ہو جاتا ہے۔

A wise man feareth, and departeth from evil: but the fool rageth, and is confident.

غصیلا آدمی احمقانہ حرکتیں کرتا ہے، اور لوگ سازشی شخص سے نفرت کرتے ہیں۔

He that is soon angry dealeth foolishly: and a man of wicked devices is hated.

سادہ لوح میراث میں حماقت پاتا ہے جبکہ ذہین آدمی کا سر علم کے تاج سے آراستہ رہتا ہے۔

The simple inherit folly: but the prudent are crowned with knowledge.

شریروں کو نیکوں کے سامنے جھکنا پڑے گا، اور بےدینوں کو راست باز کے دروازے پر اوندھے منہ ہونا پڑے گا۔

The evil bow before the good; and the wicked at the gates of the righteous.

غریب کے ہم سائے بھی اُس سے نفرت کرتے ہیں جبکہ امیر کے بےشمار دوست ہوتے ہیں۔

The poor is hated even of his own neighbour: but the rich hath many friends.

جو اپنے پڑوسی کو حقیر جانے وہ گناہ کرتا ہے۔ مبارک ہے وہ جو ضرورت مند پر ترس کھاتا ہے۔

He that despiseth his neighbour sinneth: but he that hath mercy on the poor, happy is he.

بُرے منصوبے باندھنے والے سب آوارہ پھرتے ہیں۔ لیکن اچھے منصوبے باندھنے والے شفقت اور وفا پائیں گے۔

Do they not err that devise evil? but mercy and truth shall be to them that devise good.

محنت مشقت کرنے میں ہمیشہ فائدہ ہوتا ہے، جبکہ خالی باتیں کرنے سے لوگ غریب ہو جاتے ہیں۔

In all labour there is profit: but the talk of the lips tendeth only to penury.

دانش مندوں کا اجر دولت کا تاج ہے جبکہ احمقوں کا اجر حماقت ہی ہے۔

The crown of the wise is their riches: but the foolishness of fools is folly.

سچا گواہ جانیں بچاتا ہے جبکہ جھوٹا گواہ فریب دہ ہے۔

A true witness delivereth souls: but a deceitful witness speaketh lies.

جو رب کا خوف مانے اُس کے پاس محفوظ قلعہ ہے جس میں اُس کی اولاد بھی پناہ لے سکتی ہے۔

In the fear of the LORD is strong confidence: and his children shall have a place of refuge.

رب کا خوف زندگی کا سرچشمہ ہے جو انسان کو مہلک پھندوں سے بچائے رکھتا ہے۔

The fear of the LORD is a fountain of life, to depart from the snares of death.

جتنی آبادی ملک میں ہے اُتنی ہی بادشاہ کی شان و شوکت ہے۔ رعایا کی کمی حکمران کے تنزل کا باعث ہے۔

In the multitude of people is the king's honour: but in the want of people is the destruction of the prince.

تحمل کرنے والا بڑی سمجھ داری کا مالک ہے، لیکن غصیلا آدمی اپنی حماقت کا اظہار کرتا ہے۔

He that is slow to wrath is of great understanding: but he that is hasty of spirit exalteth folly.

پُرسکون دل جسم کو زندگی دلاتا جبکہ حسد ہڈیوں کو گلنے دیتا ہے۔

A sound heart is the life of the flesh: but envy the rottenness of the bones.

جو پست حال پر ظلم کرے وہ اُس کے خالق کی تحقیر کرتا ہے جبکہ جو ضرورت مند پر ترس کھائے وہ اللہ کا احترام کرتا ہے۔

He that oppresseth the poor reproacheth his Maker: but he that honoureth him hath mercy on the poor.

بےدین کی بُرائی اُسے خاک میں ملا دیتی ہے، لیکن راست باز مرتے وقت بھی اللہ میں پناہ لیتا ہے۔

The wicked is driven away in his wickedness: but the righteous hath hope in his death.

حکمت سمجھ دار کے دل میں آرام کرتی ہے، اور وہ احمقوں کے درمیان بھی ظاہر ہو جاتی ہے۔

Wisdom resteth in the heart of him that hath understanding: but that which is in the midst of fools is made known.

راستی سے ہر قوم سرفراز ہوتی ہے جبکہ گناہ سے اُمّتیں رُسوا ہو جاتی ہیں۔

Righteousness exalteth a nation: but sin is a reproach to any people.

بادشاہ دانش مند ملازم سے خوش ہوتا ہے، لیکن شرم ناک کام کرنے والا ملازم اُس کے غصے کا نشانہ بن جاتا ہے۔

The king's favour is toward a wise servant: but his wrath is against him that causeth shame.
