Proverbs 14

Мудра жінка будує свій дім, а безумна своєю рукою руйнує його.

Every wise woman buildeth her house: but the foolish plucketh it down with her hands.

Хто ходить в простоті своїй, боїться той Господа, а в кого дороги криві, той погорджує Ним.

He that walketh in his uprightness feareth the LORD: but he that is perverse in his ways despiseth him.

На устах безумця галузка пихи, а губи премудрих їх стережуть.

In the mouth of the foolish is a rod of pride: but the lips of the wise shall preserve them.

Де немає биків, там ясла порожні, а щедрість врожаю у силі вола.

Where no oxen are, the crib is clean: but much increase is by the strength of the ox.

Свідок правдивий не лже, а свідок брехливий говорить неправду.

A faithful witness will not lie: but a false witness will utter lies.

Насмішник шукає премудрости, та надаремно, пізнання легке для розумного.

A scorner seeketh wisdom, and findeth it not: but knowledge is easy unto him that understandeth.

Ходи здалека від людини безумної, і від того, в кого мудрих уст ти не бачив.

Go from the presence of a foolish man, when thou perceivest not in him the lips of knowledge.

Мудрість розумного то розуміння дороги своєї, а глупота дурних то омана.

The wisdom of the prudent is to understand his way: but the folly of fools is deceit.

Нерозумні сміються з гріха, а між праведними уподобання.

Fools make a mock at sin: but among the righteous there is favour.

Серце знає гіркоту своєї душі, і в радість його не втручається інший.

The heart knoweth his own bitterness; and a stranger doth not intermeddle with his joy.

Буде вигублений дім безбожних, а намет безневинних розквітне.

The house of the wicked shall be overthrown: but the tabernacle of the upright shall flourish.

Буває, дорога людині здається простою, та кінець її стежка до смерти.

There is a way which seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death.

Також іноді і від сміху болить серце, і закінчення радости смуток.

Even in laughter the heart is sorrowful; and the end of that mirth is heaviness.

Хто підступного серця, насититься той із доріг своїх, а добра людина із чинів своїх.

The backslider in heart shall be filled with his own ways: and a good man shall be satisfied from himself.

Вірить безглуздий в кожнісіньке слово, а мудрий зважає на кроки свої.

The simple believeth every word: but the prudent man looketh well to his going.

Мудрий боїться й від злого вступає, нерозумний же гнівається та сміливий.

A wise man feareth, and departeth from evil: but the fool rageth, and is confident.

Скорий на гнів учиняє глупоту, а людина лукава зненавиджена.

He that is soon angry dealeth foolishly: and a man of wicked devices is hated.

Нерозумні глупоту вспадковують, а мудрі знанням коронуються.

The simple inherit folly: but the prudent are crowned with knowledge.

Поклоняться злі перед добрими, а безбожники при брамах праведного.

The evil bow before the good; and the wicked at the gates of the righteous.

Убогий зненавиджений навіть ближнім своїм, а в багатого друзі численні.

The poor is hated even of his own neighbour: but the rich hath many friends.

Хто погорджує ближнім своїм, той грішить, а ласкавий до вбогих блаженний.

He that despiseth his neighbour sinneth: but he that hath mercy on the poor, happy is he.

Чи ж не блудять, хто оре лихе? А милість та правда для тих, хто оре добро.

Do they not err that devise evil? but mercy and truth shall be to them that devise good.

Кожна праця приносить достаток, але праця уст в недостаток веде.

In all labour there is profit: but the talk of the lips tendeth only to penury.

Корона премудрих їхня мудрість, а вінець нерозумних глупота.

The crown of the wise is their riches: but the foolishness of fools is folly.

Свідок правдивий визволює душі, а свідок обманливий брехні торочить.

A true witness delivereth souls: but a deceitful witness speaketh lies.

У Господньому страхові сильна надія, і Він пристановище дітям Своїм.

In the fear of the LORD is strong confidence: and his children shall have a place of refuge.

Страх Господній криниця життя, щоб віддалятися від пасток смерти.

The fear of the LORD is a fountain of life, to depart from the snares of death.

У численності люду величність царя, а в браку народу погибіль володаря.

In the multitude of people is the king's honour: but in the want of people is the destruction of the prince.

Терпеливий у гніві багаторозумний, а гнівливий вчиняє глупоту.

He that is slow to wrath is of great understanding: but he that is hasty of spirit exalteth folly.

Лагідне серце життя то для тіла, а заздрість гнилизна костей.

A sound heart is the life of the flesh: but envy the rottenness of the bones.

Хто тисне нужденного, той ображає свого Творця, а хто милостивий до вбогого, той поважає Його.

He that oppresseth the poor reproacheth his Maker: but he that honoureth him hath mercy on the poor.

Безбожний у зло своє падає, а праведний повний надії й при смерті своїй.

The wicked is driven away in his wickedness: but the righteous hath hope in his death.

Мудрість має спочинок у серці розумного, а що в нутрі безумних, те виявиться.

Wisdom resteth in the heart of him that hath understanding: but that which is in the midst of fools is made known.

Праведність люд підіймає, а беззаконня то сором народів.

Righteousness exalteth a nation: but sin is a reproach to any people.

Ласка царева рабові розумному, гнів же його проти того, хто соромить його.

The king's favour is toward a wise servant: but his wrath is against him that causeth shame.
