Proverbs 19

Better is the poor that walketh in his integrity, than he that is perverse in his lips, and is a fool.

جو غریب بےالزام زندگی گزارے وہ ٹیڑھی باتیں کرنے والے احمق سے کہیں بہتر ہے۔

Also, that the soul be without knowledge, it is not good; and he that hasteth with his feet sinneth.

اگر علم ساتھ نہ ہو تو سرگرمی کا کوئی فائدہ نہیں۔ جلدباز غلط راہ پر آتا رہتا ہے۔

The foolishness of man perverteth his way: and his heart fretteth against the LORD.

گو انسان کی اپنی حماقت اُسے بھٹکا دیتی ہے توبھی اُس کا دل رب سے ناراض ہوتا ہے۔

Wealth maketh many friends; but the poor is separated from his neighbour.

دولت مند کے دوستوں میں اضافہ ہوتا ہے، لیکن غریب کا ایک دوست بھی اُس سے الگ ہو جاتا ہے۔

A false witness shall not be unpunished, and he that speaketh lies shall not escape.

جھوٹا گواہ سزا سے نہیں بچے گا، جو جھوٹی گواہی دے اُس کی جان نہیں چھوٹے گی۔

Many will intreat the favour of the prince: and every man is a friend to him that giveth gifts.

متعدد لوگ بڑے آدمی کی خوشامد کرتے ہیں، اور ہر ایک اُس آدمی کا دوست ہے جو تحفے دیتا ہے۔

All the brethren of the poor do hate him: how much more do his friends go far from him? he pursueth them with words, yet they are wanting to him.

غریب کے تمام بھائی اُس سے نفرت کرتے ہیں، تو پھر اُس کے دوست اُس سے کیوں دُور نہ رہیں۔ وہ باتیں کرتے کرتے اُن کا پیچھا کرتا ہے، لیکن وہ غائب ہو جاتے ہیں۔

He that getteth wisdom loveth his own soul: he that keepeth understanding shall find good.

جو حکمت اپنا لے وہ اپنی جان سے محبت رکھتا ہے، جو سمجھ کی پرورش کرے اُسے کامیابی ہو گی۔

A false witness shall not be unpunished, and he that speaketh lies shall perish.

جھوٹا گواہ سزا سے نہیں بچے گا، جھوٹی گواہی دینے والا تباہ ہو جائے گا۔

Delight is not seemly for a fool; much less for a servant to have rule over princes.

احمق کے لئے عیش و عشرت سے زندگی گزارنا موزوں نہیں، لیکن غلام کی حکمرانوں پر حکومت کہیں زیادہ غیرمناسب ہے۔

The discretion of a man deferreth his anger; and it is his glory to pass over a transgression.

انسان کی حکمت اُسے تحمل سکھاتی ہے، اور دوسروں کے جرائم سے درگزر کرنا اُس کا فخر ہے۔

The king's wrath is as the roaring of a lion; but his favour is as dew upon the grass.

بادشاہ کا طیش جوان شیرببر کی دہاڑوں کی مانند ہے جبکہ اُس کی منظوری گھاس پر شبنم کی طرح تر و تازہ کرتی ہے۔

A foolish son is the calamity of his father: and the contentions of a wife are a continual dropping.

احمق بیٹا باپ کی تباہی اور جھگڑالو بیوی مسلسل ٹپکنے والی چھت ہے۔

House and riches are the inheritance of fathers: and a prudent wife is from the LORD.

موروثی گھر اور ملکیت باپ دادا کی طرف سے ملتی ہے، لیکن سمجھ دار بیوی رب کی طرف سے ہے۔

Slothfulness casteth into a deep sleep; and an idle soul shall suffer hunger.

سُست ہونے سے انسان گہری نیند سو جاتا ہے، لیکن ڈھیلا شخص بھوکوں مرے گا۔

He that keepeth the commandment keepeth his own soul; but he that despiseth his ways shall die.

جو وفاداری سے حکم پر عمل کرے وہ اپنی جان محفوظ رکھتا ہے، لیکن جو اپنی راہوں کی پروا نہ کرے وہ مر جائے گا۔

He that hath pity upon the poor lendeth unto the LORD; and that which he hath given will he pay him again.

جو غریب پر مہربانی کرے وہ رب کو اُدھار دیتا ہے، وہی اُسے اجر دے گا۔

Chasten thy son while there is hope, and let not thy soul spare for his crying.

جب تک اُمید کی کرن باقی ہو اپنے بیٹے کی تادیب کر، لیکن اِتنے جوش میں نہ آ کہ وہ مر جائے۔

A man of great wrath shall suffer punishment: for if thou deliver him, yet thou must do it again.

جو حد سے زیادہ طیش میں آئے اُسے جرمانہ دینا پڑے گا۔ اُسے بچانے کی کوشش مت کر ورنہ اُس کا طیش اَور بڑھے گا۔

Hear counsel, and receive instruction, that thou mayest be wise in thy latter end.

اچھا مشورہ اپنا اور تربیت قبول کر تاکہ آئندہ دانش مند ہو۔

There are many devices in a man's heart; nevertheless the counsel of the LORD, that shall stand.

انسان دل میں متعدد منصوبے باندھتا رہتا ہے، لیکن رب کا ارادہ ہمیشہ پورا ہو جاتا ہے۔

The desire of a man is his kindness: and a poor man is better than a liar.

انسان کا لالچ اُس کی رُسوائی کا باعث ہے، اور غریب دروغ گو سے بہتر ہے۔

The fear of the LORD tendeth to life: and he that hath it shall abide satisfied; he shall not be visited with evil.

رب کا خوف زندگی کا منبع ہے۔ خدا ترس آدمی سیر ہو کر سکون سے سو جاتا اور مصیبت سے محفوظ رہتا ہے۔

A slothful man hideth his hand in his bosom, and will not so much as bring it to his mouth again.

کاہل اپنا ہاتھ کھانے کے برتن میں ڈال کر اُسے منہ تک نہیں لا سکتا۔

Smite a scorner, and the simple will beware: and reprove one that hath understanding, and he will understand knowledge.

طعنہ زن کو مار تو سادہ لوح سبق سیکھے گا، سمجھ دار کو ڈانٹ تو اُس کے علم میں اضافہ ہو گا۔

He that wasteth his father, and chaseth away his mother, is a son that causeth shame, and bringeth reproach.

جو اپنے باپ پر ظلم کرے اور اپنی ماں کو نکال دے وہ والدین کے لئے شرم اور رُسوائی کا باعث ہے۔

Cease, my son, to hear the instruction that causeth to err from the words of knowledge.

میرے بیٹے، تربیت پر دھیان دینے سے باز نہ آ، ورنہ تُو علم و عرفان کی راہ سے بھٹک جائے گا۔

An ungodly witness scorneth judgment: and the mouth of the wicked devoureth iniquity.

شریر گواہ انصاف کا مذاق اُڑاتا ہے، اور بےدین کا منہ آفت کی خبریں پھیلاتا ہے۔

Judgments are prepared for scorners, and stripes for the back of fools.

طعنہ زن کے لئے سزا اور احمق کی پیٹھ کے لئے کوڑا تیار ہے۔
