Job 5

Call now, if there be any that will answer thee; and to which of the saints wilt thou turn?

بےشک آواز دے، لیکن کون جواب دے گا؟ کوئی نہیں! مُقدّسین میں سے تُو کس کی طرف رجوع کر سکتا ہے؟

For wrath killeth the foolish man, and envy slayeth the silly one.

کیونکہ احمق کی رنجیدگی اُسے مار ڈالتی، سادہ لوح کی سرگرمی اُسے موت کے گھاٹ اُتار دیتی ہے۔

I have seen the foolish taking root: but suddenly I cursed his habitation.

مَیں نے خود ایک احمق کو جڑ پکڑتے دیکھا، لیکن مَیں نے فوراً ہی اُس کے گھر پر لعنت بھیجی۔

His children are far from safety, and they are crushed in the gate, neither is there any to deliver them.

اُس کے فرزند نجات سے دُور رہتے۔ اُنہیں شہر کے دروازے میں روندا جاتا ہے، اور بچانے والا کوئی نہیں۔

Whose harvest the hungry eateth up, and taketh it even out of the thorns, and the robber swalloweth up their substance.

بھوکے اُس کی فصل کھا جاتے، کانٹےدار باڑوں میں محفوظ مال بھی چھین لیتے ہیں۔ پیاسے افراد ہانپتے ہوئے اُس کی دولت کے پیچھے پڑ جاتے ہیں۔

Although affliction cometh not forth of the dust, neither doth trouble spring out of the ground;

کیونکہ بُرائی خاک سے نہیں نکلتی اور دُکھ درد مٹی سے نہیں پھوٹتا

Yet man is born unto trouble, as the sparks fly upward.

بلکہ انسان خود اِس کا باعث ہے، دُکھ درد اُس کی وراثت میں ہی پایا جاتا ہے۔ یہ اِتنا یقینی ہے جتنا یہ کہ آگ کی چنگاریاں اوپر کی طرف اُڑتی ہیں۔

I would seek unto God, and unto God would I commit my cause:

لیکن اگر مَیں تیری جگہ ہوتا تو اللہ سے دریافت کرتا، اُسے ہی اپنا معاملہ پیش کرتا۔

Which doeth great things and unsearchable; marvellous things without number:

وہی اِتنے عظیم کام کرتا ہے کہ کوئی اُن کی تہہ تک نہیں پہنچ سکتا، اِتنے معجزے کہ کوئی اُنہیں گن نہیں سکتا۔

Who giveth rain upon the earth, and sendeth waters upon the fields:

وہی رُوئے زمین کو بارش عطا کرتا، کھلے میدان پر پانی برسا دیتا ہے۔

To set up on high those that be low; that those which mourn may be exalted to safety.

پست حالوں کو وہ سرفراز کرتا اور ماتم کرنے والوں کو اُٹھا کر محفوظ مقام پر رکھ دیتا ہے۔

He disappointeth the devices of the crafty, so that their hands cannot perform their enterprise.

وہ چالاکوں کے منصوبے توڑ دیتا ہے تاکہ اُن کے ہاتھ ناکام رہیں۔

He taketh the wise in their own craftiness: and the counsel of the froward is carried headlong.

وہ دانش مندوں کو اُن کی اپنی چالاکی کے پھندے میں پھنسا دیتا ہے تو ہوشیاروں کی سازشیں اچانک ہی ختم ہو جاتی ہیں۔

They meet with darkness in the daytime, and grope in the noonday as in the night.

دن کے وقت اُن پر اندھیرا چھا جاتا، اور دوپہر کے وقت بھی وہ ٹٹول ٹٹول کر پھرتے ہیں۔

But he saveth the poor from the sword, from their mouth, and from the hand of the mighty.

اللہ ضرورت مندوں کو اُن کے منہ کی تلوار اور زبردست کے قبضے سے بچا لیتا ہے۔

So the poor hath hope, and iniquity stoppeth her mouth.

یوں پست حالوں کو اُمید دی جاتی اور ناانصافی کا منہ بند کیا جاتا ہے۔

Behold, happy is the man whom God correcteth: therefore despise not thou the chastening of the Almighty:

مبارک ہے وہ انسان جس کی ملامت اللہ کرتا ہے! چنانچہ قادرِ مطلق کی تادیب کو حقیر نہ جان۔

For he maketh sore, and bindeth up: he woundeth, and his hands make whole.

کیونکہ وہ زخمی کرتا لیکن مرہم پٹی بھی لگا دیتا ہے، وہ ضرب لگاتا لیکن اپنے ہاتھوں سے شفا بھی بخشتا ہے۔

He shall deliver thee in six troubles: yea, in seven there shall no evil touch thee.

وہ تجھے چھ مصیبتوں سے چھڑائے گا، اور اگر اِس کے بعد بھی کوئی آئے تو تجھے نقصان نہیں پہنچے گا۔

In famine he shall redeem thee from death: and in war from the power of the sword.

اگر کال پڑے تو وہ فدیہ دے کر تجھے موت سے بچائے گا، جنگ میں تجھے تلوار کی زد میں آنے نہیں دے گا۔

Thou shalt be hid from the scourge of the tongue: neither shalt thou be afraid of destruction when it cometh.

تُو زبان کے کوڑوں سے محفوظ رہے گا، اور جب تباہی آئے تو ڈرنے کی ضرورت نہیں ہو گی۔

At destruction and famine thou shalt laugh: neither shalt thou be afraid of the beasts of the earth.

تُو تباہی اور کال کی ہنسی اُڑائے گا، زمین کے وحشی جانوروں سے خوف نہیں کھائے گا۔

For thou shalt be in league with the stones of the field: and the beasts of the field shall be at peace with thee.

کیونکہ تیرا کھلے میدان کے پتھروں کے ساتھ عہد ہو گا، اِس لئے اُس کے جنگلی جانور تیرے ساتھ سلامتی سے زندگی گزاریں گے۔

And thou shalt know that thy tabernacle shall be in peace; and thou shalt visit thy habitation, and shalt not sin.

تُو جان لے گا کہ تیرا خیمہ محفوظ ہے۔ جب تُو اپنے گھر کا معائنہ کرے تو معلوم ہو گا کہ کچھ گم نہیں ہوا۔

Thou shalt know also that thy seed shall be great, and thine offspring as the grass of the earth.

تُو دیکھے گا کہ تیری اولاد بڑھتی جائے گی، تیرے فرزند زمین پر گھاس کی طرح پھیلتے جائیں گے۔

Thou shalt come to thy grave in a full age, like as a shock of corn cometh in in his season.

تُو وقت پر جمع شدہ پُولوں کی طرح عمر رسیدہ ہو کر قبر میں اُترے گا۔

Lo this, we have searched it, so it is; hear it, and know thou it for thy good.

ہم نے تحقیق کر کے معلوم کیا ہے کہ ایسا ہی ہے۔ چنانچہ ہماری بات سن کر اُسے اپنا لے!“
