Proverbs 19

Better is the poor that walketh in his integrity, than he that is perverse in his lips, and is a fool.

Ліпший убогий, що ходить в своїй неповинності, ніж лукавий устами та нерозумний.

Also, that the soul be without knowledge, it is not good; and he that hasteth with his feet sinneth.

Теж не добра душа без знання, а хто наглить ногами, спіткнеться.

The foolishness of man perverteth his way: and his heart fretteth against the LORD.

Глупота людини дорогу її викривляє, і на Господа гнівається її серце.

Wealth maketh many friends; but the poor is separated from his neighbour.

Маєток примножує друзів численних, а від бідака відпадає й товариш його...

A false witness shall not be unpunished, and he that speaketh lies shall not escape.

Свідок брехливий не буде без кари, а хто брехні говорить, не буде врятований.

Many will intreat the favour of the prince: and every man is a friend to him that giveth gifts.

Багато-хто годять тому, хто гостинці дає, і кожен товариш людині, яка не скупиться на дари.

All the brethren of the poor do hate him: how much more do his friends go far from him? he pursueth them with words, yet they are wanting to him.

Бідаря ненавидять всі браття його, а тимбільш його приятелі відпадають від нього; а коли за словами поради женеться, нема їх!

He that getteth wisdom loveth his own soul: he that keepeth understanding shall find good.

Хто ума набуває, кохає той душу свою, а хто розум стереже, той знаходить добро.

A false witness shall not be unpunished, and he that speaketh lies shall perish.

Свідок брехливий не буде без кари, хто ж неправду говорить, загине.

Delight is not seemly for a fool; much less for a servant to have rule over princes.

Не лицює пишнота безумному, тим більше рабові панувати над зверхником.

The discretion of a man deferreth his anger; and it is his glory to pass over a transgression.

Розум людини припинює гнів її, а величність її перейти над провиною.

The king's wrath is as the roaring of a lion; but his favour is as dew upon the grass.

Гнів царя немов рик левчука, а ласкавість його як роса на траву.

A foolish son is the calamity of his father: and the contentions of a wife are a continual dropping.

Син безумний погибіль для батька свого, а жінка сварлива як ринва, що з неї вода тече завжди.

House and riches are the inheritance of fathers: and a prudent wife is from the LORD.

Хата й маєток спадщина батьків, а жінка розумна від Господа.

Slothfulness casteth into a deep sleep; and an idle soul shall suffer hunger.

Лінощі сон накидають, і лінива душа голодує.

He that keepeth the commandment keepeth his own soul; but he that despiseth his ways shall die.

Хто заповідь охороняє, той душу свою стереже; хто дороги свої легковажить, помре.

He that hath pity upon the poor lendeth unto the LORD; and that which he hath given will he pay him again.

Хто милостивий до вбогого, той позичає для Господа, і чин його Він надолужить йому.

Chasten thy son while there is hope, and let not thy soul spare for his crying.

Картай свого сина, коли є надія навчити, та забити його не піднось свою душу.

A man of great wrath shall suffer punishment: for if thou deliver him, yet thou must do it again.

Людина великого гніву хай кару несе, бо якщо ти врятуєш її, то вчиниш ще гірше.

Hear counsel, and receive instruction, that thou mayest be wise in thy latter end.

Слухай ради й картання приймай, щоб мудрим ти став при своєму кінці.

There are many devices in a man's heart; nevertheless the counsel of the LORD, that shall stand.

У серці людини багато думок, але виповниться тільки задум Господній.

The desire of a man is his kindness: and a poor man is better than a liar.

Здобуток людині то милість її, але ліпший бідар за людину брехливу.

The fear of the LORD tendeth to life: and he that hath it shall abide satisfied; he shall not be visited with evil.

Страх Господній веде до життя, і хто його має, той ситим ночує, і зло не досягне його.

A slothful man hideth his hand in his bosom, and will not so much as bring it to his mouth again.

У миску стромляє лінюх свою руку, до уст же своїх не підійме її.

Smite a scorner, and the simple will beware: and reprove one that hath understanding, and he will understand knowledge.

Як битимеш нерозважного, то помудріє й немудрий, а будеш розумного остерігати, то він зрозуміє поуку.

He that wasteth his father, and chaseth away his mother, is a son that causeth shame, and bringeth reproach.

Хто батька грабує, хто матір жене? Це син, що застиджує та осоромлює,

Cease, my son, to hear the instruction that causeth to err from the words of knowledge.

перестань же, мій сину, навчатися від нерозумних, щоб відступитися від слів знання!

An ungodly witness scorneth judgment: and the mouth of the wicked devoureth iniquity.

Свідок нікчемний висміює суд, а уста безбожних вибризкують кривду.

Judgments are prepared for scorners, and stripes for the back of fools.

На насмішників кари готові постійно, і вдари на спину безумним.
