Proverbs 14

Every wise woman buildeth her house: but the foolish plucketh it down with her hands.

Bilge kadın evini yapar, Ahmak kadın evini kendi eliyle yıkar.

He that walketh in his uprightness feareth the LORD: but he that is perverse in his ways despiseth him.

Doğru yolda yürüyen, RAB’den korkar, Yoldan sapan, RAB’bi hor görür.

In the mouth of the foolish is a rod of pride: but the lips of the wise shall preserve them.

Ahmağın sözleri sırtına kötektir, Ama bilgenin dudakları kendisini korur.

Where no oxen are, the crib is clean: but much increase is by the strength of the ox.

Öküz yoksa yemlik boş kalır, Çünkü bol ürünü sağlayan öküzün gücüdür.

A faithful witness will not lie: but a false witness will utter lies.

Güvenilir tanık yalan söylemez, Yalancı tanıksa yalan solur.

A scorner seeketh wisdom, and findeth it not: but knowledge is easy unto him that understandeth.

Alaycı bilgeliği arasa da bulamaz, Akıllı içinse bilgi edinmek kolaydır.

Go from the presence of a foolish man, when thou perceivest not in him the lips of knowledge.

Akılsız kişiden uzak dur, Çünkü sana öğretecek bir şeyi yok.

The wisdom of the prudent is to understand his way: but the folly of fools is deceit.

İhtiyatlı kişinin bilgeliği, ne yapacağını bilmektir, Akılsızların ahmaklığıysa aldanmaktır.

Fools make a mock at sin: but among the righteous there is favour.

Ahmaklar suç sunusuyla alay eder, Dürüstler ise iyi niyetlidir.

The heart knoweth his own bitterness; and a stranger doth not intermeddle with his joy.

Yürek kendi acısını bilir, Sevinciniyse kimse paylaşmaz.

The house of the wicked shall be overthrown: but the tabernacle of the upright shall flourish.

Kötü kişinin evi yerle bir edilecek, Doğru kişinin konutuysa bayındır olacak.

There is a way which seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death.

[] Öyle yol var ki, insana düz gibi görünür, Ama sonu ölümdür.

Even in laughter the heart is sorrowful; and the end of that mirth is heaviness.

Gülerken bile yürek sızlayabilir, Sevinç bitince acı yine görünebilir.

The backslider in heart shall be filled with his own ways: and a good man shall be satisfied from himself.

Yüreği dönek olan tuttuğu yolun, İyi kişi de yaptıklarının ödülünü alacaktır.

The simple believeth every word: but the prudent man looketh well to his going.

Saf kişi her söze inanır, İhtiyatlı olansa attığı her adımı hesaplar.

A wise man feareth, and departeth from evil: but the fool rageth, and is confident.

Bilge kişi korktuğu için kötülükten uzaklaşır, Akılsızsa büyüklük taslayıp kendine güvenir.

He that is soon angry dealeth foolishly: and a man of wicked devices is hated.

Çabuk öfkelenen ahmakça davranır, Düzenbazdan herkes nefret eder.

The simple inherit folly: but the prudent are crowned with knowledge.

Saf kişilerin mirası akılsızlıktır, İhtiyatlı kişilerin tacı ise bilgidir.

The evil bow before the good; and the wicked at the gates of the righteous.

Alçaklar iyilerin önünde, Kötüler doğruların kapısında eğilirler.

The poor is hated even of his own neighbour: but the rich hath many friends.

Komşusu bile yoksulu sevmez, Oysa zenginin dostu çoktur.

He that despiseth his neighbour sinneth: but he that hath mercy on the poor, happy is he.

Komşuyu hor görmek günahtır, Ne mutlu mazluma lütfedene!

Do they not err that devise evil? but mercy and truth shall be to them that devise good.

Kötülük tasarlayan yolunu şaşırmaz mı? Oysa iyilik tasarlayan sevgi ve sadakat kazanır.

In all labour there is profit: but the talk of the lips tendeth only to penury.

Her emek kazanç getirir, Ama boş lakırdı yoksulluğa götürür.

The crown of the wise is their riches: but the foolishness of fools is folly.

Bilgelerin tacı servetleridir, Akılsızlarsa ahmaklıklarıyla tanınır.

A true witness delivereth souls: but a deceitful witness speaketh lies.

Dürüst tanık can kurtarır, Yalancı tanık aldatıcıdır.

In the fear of the LORD is strong confidence: and his children shall have a place of refuge.

RAB’den korkan tam güvenliktedir, RAB onun çocuklarına da sığınak olacaktır.

The fear of the LORD is a fountain of life, to depart from the snares of death.

RAB korkusu yaşam kaynağıdır, İnsanı ölüm tuzaklarından uzaklaştırır.

In the multitude of people is the king's honour: but in the want of people is the destruction of the prince.

Kralın yüceliği halkının çokluğuna bağlıdır, Halk yok olursa hükümdar da mahvolur.

He that is slow to wrath is of great understanding: but he that is hasty of spirit exalteth folly.

Geç öfkelenen akıllıdır, Çabuk sinirlenen ahmaklığını gösterir.

A sound heart is the life of the flesh: but envy the rottenness of the bones.

Huzurlu yürek bedenin yaşam kaynağıdır, Hırs ise insanı için için yer bitirir.

He that oppresseth the poor reproacheth his Maker: but he that honoureth him hath mercy on the poor.

Muhtacı ezen, Yaradanı’nı hor görüyor demektir. Yoksula acıyansa Yaradan’ı yüceltir.

The wicked is driven away in his wickedness: but the righteous hath hope in his death.

Kötü kişi uğradığı felaketle yıkılır, Doğru insanın ölümde bile sığınacak yeri var.

Wisdom resteth in the heart of him that hath understanding: but that which is in the midst of fools is made known.

Bilgelik akıllı kişinin yüreğinde barınır, Akılsızlar arasında bile kendini belli eder.

Righteousness exalteth a nation: but sin is a reproach to any people.

Doğruluk bir ulusu yüceltir, Oysa günah herhangi bir halk için utançtır.

The king's favour is toward a wise servant: but his wrath is against him that causeth shame.

Kral sağduyulu kulunu beğenir, Utanç getirene öfkelenir.
