Job 40

Moreover the LORD answered Job, and said,

ایّوب، آیا هنوز هم می‌خواهی با من که خدای قادر مطلق هستم مباحثه کنی؟ تو که از کارهای من ایراد می‌گیری، باید به من جواب بدهی.» ایّوب:

Shall he that contendeth with the Almighty instruct him? he that reproveth God, let him answer it.

ایّوب، آیا هنوز هم می‌خواهی با من که خدای قادر مطلق هستم مباحثه کنی؟ تو که از کارهای من ایراد می‌گیری، باید به من جواب بدهی.» ایّوب:

Then Job answered the LORD, and said,

خداوندا من احمقانه حرف می‌زنم. حال دهان خود را می‌بندم،

Behold, I am vile; what shall I answer thee? I will lay mine hand upon my mouth.

خداوندا من احمقانه حرف می‌زنم. حال دهان خود را می‌بندم،

Once have I spoken; but I will not answer: yea, twice; but I will proceed no further.

زیرا من حرفهای خود را زده‌ام و بار دیگر تکرار نمی‌کنم.

Then answered the LORD unto Job out of the whirlwind, and said,

آنگاه خداوند از میان گِردباد به ایّوب چنین جواب داد: خداوند

Gird up thy loins now like a man: I will demand of thee, and declare thou unto me.

اکنون مثل یک مرد آماده شو و به سؤالاتی که از تو می‌کنم جواب بده.

Wilt thou also disannul my judgment? wilt thou condemn me, that thou mayest be righteous?

آیا می‌خواهی مرا به بی‌عدالتی متّهم سازی؟ تو مرا مقصّر می‌دانی و خود را حق به جانب می‌دانی.

Hast thou an arm like God? or canst thou thunder with a voice like him?

آیا تو مثل من قدرت داری؟ آیا صدای تو مانند آواز رعدآسای من است؟

Deck thyself now with majesty and excellency; and array thyself with glory and beauty.

اگر چنین است، خود را با جلال و شکوه زینت بده و با عزّت و شوکت ملبّس شو.

Cast abroad the rage of thy wrath: and behold every one that is proud, and abase him.

بر مردم متکبّر بنگر؛ خشم خود را بر آنها بریز و فروتنشان بگردان.

Look on every one that is proud, and bring him low; and tread down the wicked in their place.

به آنها نظر کن و با یک نگاه آنها را خوار و ذلیل ساز و بدکاران را در جایی که ایستاده‌اند پایمال کن.

Hide them in the dust together; and bind their faces in secret.

تا در زیر خاک بروند و در دنیای مردگان زندانی شوند.

Then will I also confess unto thee that thine own right hand can save thee.

آن وقت من تصدیق می‌کنم که تو با زور بازوی خود می‌توانی پیروز گردی.

Behold now behemoth, which I made with thee; he eateth grass as an ox.

به کرگدن نگاه کن. همان‌طور که تو را آفریدم او را هم آفریده‌ام. او مثل گاو علف می‌خورد.

Lo now, his strength is in his loins, and his force is in the navel of his belly.

امّا اندامی نیرومند دارد و چه قدرتی در ماهیچه‌هایش می‌باشد!

He moveth his tail like a cedar: the sinews of his stones are wrapped together.

دُمش مانند درخت سرو، راست است و رگ و پِی‌ رانش به هم بافته شده‌اند.

His bones are as strong pieces of brass; his bones are like bars of iron.

استخوانهایش مثل لوله‌های برنزی و پاهایش مانند میله‌های آهنی می‌باشند.

He is the chief of the ways of God: he that made him can make his sword to approach unto him.

این حیوان یکی از عجیبترین مخلوقات من است. تنها من که آفرینندهٔ او هستم، می‌توانم مغلوبش کنم.

Surely the mountains bring him forth food, where all the beasts of the field play.

کوهها برایش سبزه می‌رویاند در جایی که حیوانات وحشی‌بازی می‌کنند.

He lieth under the shady trees, in the covert of the reed, and fens.

در زیر بوته‌های خاردار دراز می‌کشد و در میان درختان سایه‌دار، مخفی می‌شود.

The shady trees cover him with their shadow; the willows of the brook compass him about.

سایهٔ درختان او را می‌پوشاند و بیدهای کنار جویبار او را احاطه می‌کند.

Behold, he drinketh up a river, and hasteth not: he trusteth that he can draw up Jordan into his mouth.

از طغیان دریا نمی‌ترسد و اگر رود اردن بر سرش بریزد، نمی‌تواند آرامش او را بر هم بزند.

He taketh it with his eyes: his nose pierceth through snares.

چه کسی می‌تواند چشمان او را کور کند و او را به بند بکشد؟ هیچ‌کسی نمی‌تواند به بینی او حلقه بیندازد و گرفتارش کند.
