Job 30

Most pedig nevetnek rajtam, a kik fiatalabbak nálam a kiknek atyjokat az én juhaimnak komondorai közé sem számláltam volna.

But now they that are younger than I have me in derision, whose fathers I would have disdained to have set with the dogs of my flock.

Mire való lett volna nékem még kezök ereje is? Rájok nézve a vénség elveszett!

Yea, whereto might the strength of their hands profit me, in whom old age was perished?

Szükség és éhség miatt összeaszottak, a kik a kopár földet futják, a sötét, sivatag pusztaságot.

For want and famine they were solitary; fleeing into the wilderness in former time desolate and waste.

A kik keserű füvet tépnek a bokor mellett, és rekettyegyökér a kenyerök.

Who cut up mallows by the bushes, and juniper roots for their meat.

Az emberek közül kiűzik őket, úgy hurítják őket, mint a tolvajt.

They were driven forth from among men, (they cried after them as after a thief;)

Félelmetes völgyekben kell lakniok, a földnek és szikláknak hasadékaiban.

To dwell in the clifts of the valleys, in caves of the earth, and in the rocks.

A bokrok között ordítanak, a csalánok alatt gyülekeznek.

Among the bushes they brayed; under the nettles they were gathered together.

Esztelen legények, sőt becstelen fiak, a kiket kivertek az országból.

They were children of fools, yea, children of base men: they were viler than the earth.

És most ezeknek lettem gúnydalává, nékik levék beszédtárgyuk!

And now am I their song, yea, I am their byword.

Útálnak engem, messze távoznak tőlem, és nem átalanak pökdösni előttem.

They abhor me, they flee far from me, and spare not to spit in my face.

Sőt leoldják kötelöket és bántalmaznak engem, és a zabolát előttem kivetik.

Because he hath loosed my cord, and afflicted me, they have also let loose the bridle before me.

Jobb felől ifjak támadnak ellenem, gáncsot vetnek lábaimnak, és ösvényt törnek felém, hogy megrontsanak.

Upon my right hand rise the youth; they push away my feet, and they raise up against me the ways of their destruction.

Az én útamat elrontják, romlásomat öregbítik, nincsen segítség ellenök.

They mar my path, they set forward my calamity, they have no helper.

Mint valami széles résen, úgy rontanak elő, pusztulás között hömpölyögnek *ide.*

They came upon me as a wide breaking in of waters: in the desolation they rolled themselves upon me.

Rettegések fordultak ellenem, mint vihar űzik el tisztességemet, boldogságom eltünt, mint a felhő.

Terrors are turned upon me: they pursue my soul as the wind: and my welfare passeth away as a cloud.

Mostan azért enmagamért ontja ki magát lelkem; nyomorúságnak napjai fognak meg engem.

And now my soul is poured out upon me; the days of affliction have taken hold upon me.

Az éjszaka meglyuggatja csontjaimat bennem, és nem nyugosznak az én inaim.

My bones are pierced in me in the night season: and my sinews take no rest.

A sok erőlködés miatt elváltozott az én ruházatom; úgy szorít engem, mint a köntösöm galléra.

By the great force of my disease is my garment changed: it bindeth me about as the collar of my coat.

A sárba vetett engem, hasonlóvá lettem porhoz és hamuhoz.

He hath cast me into the mire, and I am become like dust and ashes.

Kiáltok hozzád, de nem felelsz; megállok és *csak* nézel reám!

I cry unto thee, and thou dost not hear me: I stand up, and thou regardest me not.

Kegyetlenné változtál irántam; kezed erejével harczolsz ellenem.

Thou art become cruel to me: with thy strong hand thou opposest thyself against me.

Felemelsz, szélnek eresztesz engem, és széttépsz engem a viharban.

Thou liftest me up to the wind; thou causest me to ride upon it, and dissolvest my substance.

Hiszen tudtam, hogy visszatérítesz engem a halálba, és a minden élő gyülekező házába;

For I know that thou wilt bring me to death, and to the house appointed for all living.

De a roskadóban levő ne nyujtsa-é ki kezét? Avagy ha veszendőben van, ne kiáltson-é segítségért?

Howbeit he will not stretch out his hand to the grave, though they cry in his destruction.

Avagy nem sírtam-é azon, a kinek kemény napja volt; a szűkölködő miatt nem volt-é lelkem szomorú?

Did not I weep for him that was in trouble? was not my soul grieved for the poor?

Bizony jót reméltem és rossz következék, világosságot vártam és homály jöve.

When I looked for good, then evil came unto me: and when I waited for light, there came darkness.

Az én bensőm forr és nem nyugoszik; megrohantak engem a nyomorúságnak napjai.

My bowels boiled, and rested not: the days of affliction prevented me.

Feketülten járok, de nem a nap hősége miatt; felkelek a gyülekezetben *és* kiáltozom.

I went mourning without the sun: I stood up, and I cried in the congregation.

Atyjok fiává lettem a sakáloknak, és társokká a strucz madaraknak.

I am a brother to dragons, and a companion to owls.

Bőröm feketül*ten hámlik le* rólam, és csontom elég a hőség miatt.

My skin is black upon me, and my bones are burned with heat.

Hegedűm sírássá változék, sípom pedig jajgatók szavává.

My harp also is turned to mourning, and my organ into the voice of them that weep.
