Job 13

अय्यूब ने कहा: “मेरी आँखों ने यह सब पहले देखा है और पहले ही मैं सुन चुका हूँ जो कुछ तुम कहा करते हो। इस सब की समझ बूझ मुझे है।

Lo, mine eye hath seen all this, mine ear hath heard and understood it.

मैं भी उतना ही जानता हूँ जितना तू जानता है, मैं तुझ से कम नहीं हूँ।

What ye know, the same do I know also: I am not inferior unto you.

किन्तु मुझे इच्छा नहीं है कि मैं तुझ से तर्क करूँ, मैं सर्वशक्तिमान परमेश्वर से बोलना चाहता हूँ। अपने संकट के बारे में, मैं परमेश्वर से तर्क करना चाहता हूँ।

Surely I would speak to the Almighty, and I desire to reason with God.

किन्तु तुम तीनो लोग अपने अज्ञान को मिथ्या विचारों से ढकना चाहते हो। तुम वो बेकार के चिकित्सक हो जो किसी को अच्छा नहीं कर सकता।

But ye are forgers of lies, ye are all physicians of no value.

मेरी यह कामना है कि तुम पूरी तरह चुप हो जाओ, यह तुम्हारे लिये बुद्धिमत्ता की बात होगी जिसको तुम कर सकते हो!

O that ye would altogether hold your peace! and it should be your wisdom.

“अब, मेरी युक्ति सुनो! सुनो जब मैं अपनी सफाई दूँ।

Hear now my reasoning, and hearken to the pleadings of my lips.

क्या तुम परमेश्वर के हेतु झूठ बोलोगे? क्या यह तुमको सचमुच विश्वास है कि ये तुम्हारे झूठ परमेश्वर तुमसे बुलवाना चाहता है

Will ye speak wickedly for God? and talk deceitfully for him?

क्या तुम मेरे विरुद्ध परमेश्वर का पक्ष लोगे? क्या तुम न्यायालय में परमेश्वर को बचाने जा रहे हो?

Will ye accept his person? will ye contend for God?

यदि परमेश्वर ने तुमको अति निकटता से जाँच लिया तो क्या वह कुछ भी अच्छी बातपायेगा? क्या तुम सोचते हो कि तुम परमेश्वर को छल पाओगे, ठीक उसी तरह जैसे तुम लोगों को छलते हो?

Is it good that he should search you out? or as one man mocketh another, do ye so mock him?

यदि तुम न्यायालय में छिपे छिपे किसी का पक्ष लोगे तो परमेश्वर निश्चय ही तुमको लताड़ेगा।

He will surely reprove you, if ye do secretly accept persons.

उसका भव्य तेज तुमको डरायेगा और तुम भयभीत हो जाओगे।

Shall not his excellency make you afraid? and his dread fall upon you?

तुम सोचते हो कि तुम चतुराई भरी और बुद्धिमत्तापूर्ण बातें करते हो, किन्तु तुम्हारे कथन राख जैसे व्यर्थ हैं। तुम्हारी युक्तियाँ माटी सी दुर्बल हैं।

Your remembrances are like unto ashes, your bodies to bodies of clay.

“चुप रहो और मुझको कह लेने दो। फिर जो भी होना है मेरे साथ हो जाने दो।

Hold your peace, let me alone, that I may speak, and let come on me what will.

मैं स्वयं को संकट में डाल रहा हूँ और मैं स्वयं अपना जीवन अपने हाथों में ले रहा हूँ।

Wherefore do I take my flesh in my teeth, and put my life in mine hand?

चाहे परमेश्वर मुझे मार दे। मुझे कुछ आशा नहीं है, तो भी मैं अपना मुकदमा उसके सामने लड़ूँगा।

Though he slay me, yet will I trust in him: but I will maintain mine own ways before him.

किन्तु सम्भव है कि परमेश्वर मुझे बचा ले, क्योंकि मैं उसके सामने निडर हूँ। कोई भी बुरा व्यक्ति परमेश्वर से आमने सामने मिलने का साहस नहीं कर सकता।

He also shall be my salvation: for an hypocrite shall not come before him.

उसे ध्यान से सुन जिसे मैं कहता हूँ, उस पर कान दे जिसकी व्याख्या मैं करता हूँ।

Hear diligently my speech, and my declaration with your ears.

अब मैं अपना बचाव करने को तैयार हूँ। यह मुझे पता है कि मुझको निर्दोष सिद्ध किया जायेगा।

Behold now, I have ordered my cause; I know that I shall be justified.

कोई भी व्यक्ति यह प्रमाणित नहीं कर सकता कि मैं गलत हूँ। यदि कोई व्यक्ति यह सिद्ध कर दे तो मैं चुप हो जाऊँगा और प्राण दे दूँगा।

Who is he that will plead with me? for now, if I hold my tongue, I shall give up the ghost.

“हे परमेश्वर, तू मुझे दो बाते दे दे, फिर मैं तुझ से नहीं छिपूँगा।

Only do not two things unto me: then will I not hide myself from thee.

मुझे दण्ड देना और डराना छोड़ दे, अपने आतंको से मुझे छोड़ दे।

Withdraw thine hand far from me: and let not thy dread make me afraid.

फिर तू मुझे पुकार और मैं तुझे उत्तर दूँगा, अथवा मुझको बोलने दे और तू मुझको उत्तर दे।

Then call thou, and I will answer: or let me speak, and answer thou me.

कितने पाप मैंने किये हैं? कौन सा अपराध मुझसे बन पड़ा? मुझे मेरे पाप और अपराध दिखा।

How many are mine iniquities and sins? make me to know my transgression and my sin.

हे परमेश्वर, तू मुझसे क्यों बचता है? और मेरे साथ शत्रु जैसा व्यवहार क्यों करता है?

Wherefore hidest thou thy face, and holdest me for thine enemy?

क्या तू मुझको डरायेगा? मैं (अय्यूब) एक पत्ता हूँ जिसके पवन उड़ाती है। एक सूखे तिनके पर तू प्रहार कर रहा है।

Wilt thou break a leaf driven to and fro? and wilt thou pursue the dry stubble?

हे परमेश्वर, तू मेरे विरोध में कड़वी बात बोलता है। तू मुझे ऐसे पापों के लिये दु:ख देता है जो मैंने लड़कपन में किये थे।

For thou writest bitter things against me, and makest me to possess the iniquities of my youth.

मेरे पैरों में तूने काठ डाल दिया है, तू मेरे हर कदम पर आँख गड़ाये रखता है। मेरे कदमों की तूने सीमायें बाँध दी हैं।

Thou puttest my feet also in the stocks, and lookest narrowly unto all my paths; thou settest a print upon the heels of my feet.

मैं सड़ी वस्तु सा क्षीण होता जाता हूँ कीड़ें से खाये हुये कपड़े के टुकड़े जैसा।”

And he, as a rotten thing, consumeth, as a garment that is moth eaten.
