Ecclesiastes 7

Добро име е по-добро от скъпоценно масло и денят на смъртта — от деня на раждането.

A good name is better than precious ointment; and the day of death than the day of one's birth.

По-добре да отидеш в дом на жалеене, отколкото да отидеш в дом на пируване, защото това е краят на всички хора и живият го влага в сърцето си.

It is better to go to the house of mourning, than to go to the house of feasting: for that is the end of all men; and the living will lay it to his heart.

Печалта е по-добра от смеха, защото чрез тъжното лице сърцето става по-добро.

Sorrow is better than laughter: for by the sadness of the countenance the heart is made better.

Сърцето на мъдрите е в дома на жалеене, а сърцето на безумните е в дома на веселие.

The heart of the wise is in the house of mourning; but the heart of fools is in the house of mirth.

По-добре да се слуша изобличението на мъдрия, отколкото да слуша човек песента на безумните.

It is better to hear the rebuke of the wise, than for a man to hear the song of fools.

Защото какъвто е гласът на тръните под котела, такъв е и смехът на безумния. И това е суета.

For as the crackling of thorns under a pot, so is the laughter of the fool: this also is vanity.

Наистина насилието подлудява мъдрия и подкупът покварява сърцето.

Surely oppression maketh a wise man mad; and a gift destroyeth the heart.

Краят на работата е по-добър от началото й; търпеливият по дух е по-добър от гордия по дух.

Better is the end of a thing than the beginning thereof: and the patient in spirit is better than the proud in spirit.

Не бързай в духа си да се гневиш, защото гневът почива в пазвата на безумните.

Be not hasty in thy spirit to be angry: for anger resteth in the bosom of fools.

Не казвай: Как предишните дни бяха по-добри от тези? — защото не от мъдрост питаш за това.

Say not thou, What is the cause that the former days were better than these? for thou dost not enquire wisely concerning this.

Мъдростта е добра като наследство и полезна за онези, които гледат слънцето,

Wisdom is good with an inheritance: and by it there is profit to them that see the sun.

защото мъдростта е защита, както и парите са защита, но предимството на знанието е, че мъдростта оживява онези, които я имат.

For wisdom is a defence, and money is a defence: but the excellency of knowledge is, that wisdom giveth life to them that have it.

Разгледай Божието дело, защото кой може да изправи онова, което Той е направил криво?

Consider the work of God: for who can make that straight, which he hath made crooked?

В деня на благоденствие бъди весел, а в деня на бедствие разсъди: Бог е направил едното, както и другото, за да не намери човек нищо след себе си.

In the day of prosperity be joyful, but in the day of adversity consider: God also hath set the one over against the other, to the end that man should find nothing after him.

Всичко видях в суетните си дни — има праведен, който загива в правдата си, и има безбожен, който дългоденства в безбожието си.

All things have I seen in the days of my vanity: there is a just man that perisheth in his righteousness, and there is a wicked man that prolongeth his life in his wickedness.

Не бъди прекалено праведен и не се прави на прекалено мъдър — защо да се погубиш?

Be not righteous over much; neither make thyself over wise: why shouldest thou destroy thyself?

Не бъди прекалено зъл и не бъди безумен — защо да умреш преди времето си?

Be not over much wicked, neither be thou foolish: why shouldest thou die before thy time?

Добре е да държиш това и да не оттегляш ръката си от онова, защото който се бои от Бога, ще избегне всичко това.

It is good that thou shouldest take hold of this; yea, also from this withdraw not thine hand: for he that feareth God shall come forth of them all.

Мъдростта прави мъдрия по-силен от десет началници, които са в града,

Wisdom strengtheneth the wise more than ten mighty men which are in the city.

защото няма праведен човек на земята, който върши добро и не греши.

For there is not a just man upon earth, that doeth good, and sinneth not.

И не обръщай внимание на всички думи, които се говорят, да не би да чуеш слугата си да те кълне,

Also take no heed unto all words that are spoken; lest thou hear thy servant curse thee:

защото сърцето ти знае също, че и ти много пъти си проклинал други.

For oftentimes also thine own heart knoweth that thou thyself likewise hast cursed others.

Всичко това опитах чрез мъдрост. Казах: Ще бъда мъдър! — но тя се отдалечи от мен.

All this have I proved by wisdom: I said, I will be wise; but it was far from me.

Далеч е онова, което е, и изключително дълбоко — кой може да го открие?

That which is far off, and exceeding deep, who can find it out?

Отново предадох сърцето си да позная, да изследвам и да открия мъдростта и разума, да позная, че злото е безумие и глупостта е лудост.

I applied mine heart to know, and to search, and to seek out wisdom, and the reason of things, and to know the wickedness of folly, even of foolishness and madness:

И открих че е по-горчива от смъртта жената, чието сърце е примки и мрежи, чиито ръце са окови. Който е угоден на Бога, ще избегне от нея, а грешникът ще бъде хванат от нея.

And I find more bitter than death the woman, whose heart is snares and nets, and her hands as bands: whoso pleaseth God shall escape from her; but the sinner shall be taken by her.

Виж, това открих — казва проповедникът — като сравнявах едно нещо с друго, за да намеря обяснение,

Behold, this have I found, saith the preacher, counting one by one, to find out the account:

което душата ми още търси, но не е намерила — един мъж между хиляда намерих, но една жена между всички тях не намерих.

Which yet my soul seeketh, but I find not: one man among a thousand have I found; but a woman among all those have I not found.

Ето, само това намерих — че Бог направи човека праведен, но те потърсиха много хитрини.

Lo, this only have I found, that God hath made man upright; but they have sought out many inventions.
