Proverbs 4

اے بیٹو، باپ کی نصیحت سنو، دھیان دو تاکہ تم سیکھ کر سمجھ حاصل کر سکو۔

Hear, ye children, the instruction of a father, and attend to know understanding.

مَیں تمہیں اچھی تعلیم دیتا ہوں، اِس لئے میری ہدایت کو ترک نہ کرو۔

For I give you good doctrine, forsake ye not my law.

مَیں ابھی اپنے باپ کے گھر میں نازک لڑکا تھا، اپنی ماں کا واحد بچہ،

For I was my father's son, tender and only beloved in the sight of my mother.

تو میرے باپ نے مجھے تعلیم دے کر کہا، ”پورے دل سے میرے الفاظ اپنا لے اور ہر وقت میرے احکام پر عمل کر تو تُو جیتا رہے گا۔

He taught me also, and said unto me, Let thine heart retain my words: keep my commandments, and live.

حکمت حاصل کر، سمجھ اپنا لے! یہ چیزیں مت بھولنا، میرے منہ کے الفاظ سے دُور نہ ہونا۔

Get wisdom, get understanding: forget it not; neither decline from the words of my mouth.

حکمت ترک نہ کر تو وہ تجھے محفوظ رکھے گی۔ اُس سے محبت رکھ تو وہ تیری دیکھ بھال کرے گی۔

Forsake her not, and she shall preserve thee: love her, and she shall keep thee.

حکمت اِس سے شروع ہوتی ہے کہ تُو حکمت اپنا لے۔ سمجھ حاصل کرنے کے لئے باقی تمام ملکیت قربان کرنے کے لئے تیار ہو۔

Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom: and with all thy getting get understanding.

اُسے عزیز رکھ تو وہ تجھے سرفراز کرے گی، اُسے گلے لگا تو وہ تجھے عزت بخشے گی۔

Exalt her, and she shall promote thee: she shall bring thee to honour, when thou dost embrace her.

تب وہ تیرے سر کو خوب صورت سہرے سے آراستہ کرے گی اور تجھے شاندار تاج سے نوازے گی۔“

She shall give to thine head an ornament of grace: a crown of glory shall she deliver to thee.

میرے بیٹے، میری سن! میری باتیں اپنا لے تو تیری عمر دراز ہو گی۔

Hear, O my son, and receive my sayings; and the years of thy life shall be many.

مَیں تجھے حکمت کی راہ پر چلنے کی ہدایت دیتا، تجھے سیدھی راہوں پر پھرنے دیتا ہوں۔

I have taught thee in the way of wisdom; I have led thee in right paths.

جب تُو چلے گا تو تیرے قدموں کو کسی بھی چیز سے روکا نہیں جائے گا، اور دوڑتے وقت تُو ٹھوکر نہیں کھائے گا۔

When thou goest, thy steps shall not be straitened; and when thou runnest, thou shalt not stumble.

تربیت کا دامن تھامے رہ! اُسے نہ چھوڑ بلکہ محفوظ رکھ، کیونکہ وہ تیری زندگی ہے۔

Take fast hold of instruction; let her not go: keep her; for she is thy life.

بےدینوں کی راہ پر قدم نہ رکھ، شریروں کے راستے پر مت جا۔

Enter not into the path of the wicked, and go not in the way of evil men.

اُس سے گریز کر، اُس پر سفر نہ کر بلکہ اُس سے کترا کر آگے نکل جا۔

Avoid it, pass not by it, turn from it, and pass away.

کیونکہ جب تک اُن سے بُرا کام سرزد نہ ہو جائے وہ سو ہی نہیں سکتے، جب تک اُنہوں نے کسی کو ٹھوکر کھلا کر خاک میں ملا نہ دیا ہو وہ نیند سے محروم رہتے ہیں۔

For they sleep not, except they have done mischief; and their sleep is taken away, unless they cause some to fall.

وہ بےدینی کی روٹی کھاتے اور ظلم کی مَے پیتے ہیں۔

For they eat the bread of wickedness, and drink the wine of violence.

لیکن راست باز کی راہ طلوعِ صبح کی پہلی روشنی کی مانند ہے جو دن کے عروج تک بڑھتی رہتی ہے۔

But the path of the just is as the shining light, that shineth more and more unto the perfect day.

اِس کے مقابلے میں بےدین کا راستہ گہری تاریکی کی مانند ہے، اُنہیں پتا ہی نہیں چلتا کہ کس چیز سے ٹھوکر کھا کر گر گئے ہیں۔

The way of the wicked is as darkness: they know not at what they stumble.

میرے بیٹے، میری باتوں پر دھیان دے، میرے الفاظ پر کان دھر۔

My son, attend to my words; incline thine ear unto my sayings.

اُنہیں اپنی نظر سے اوجھل نہ ہونے دے بلکہ اپنے دل میں محفوظ رکھ۔

Let them not depart from thine eyes; keep them in the midst of thine heart.

کیونکہ جو یہ باتیں اپنائیں وہ زندگی اور پورے جسم کے لئے شفا پاتے ہیں۔

For they are life unto those that find them, and health to all their flesh.

تمام چیزوں سے پہلے اپنے دل کی حفاظت کر، کیونکہ یہی زندگی کا سرچشمہ ہے۔

Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life.

اپنے منہ سے جھوٹ اور اپنے ہونٹوں سے کج گوئی دُور کر۔

Put away from thee a froward mouth, and perverse lips put far from thee.

دھیان دے کہ تیری آنکھیں سیدھا آگے کی طرف دیکھیں، کہ تیری نظر اُس راستے پر لگی رہے جو سیدھا ہے۔

Let thine eyes look right on, and let thine eyelids look straight before thee.

اپنے پاؤں کا راستہ چلنے کے قابل بنا دے، دھیان دے کہ تیری راہیں مضبوط ہیں۔

Ponder the path of thy feet, and let all thy ways be established.

نہ دائیں، نہ بائیں طرف مُڑ بلکہ اپنے پاؤں کو غلط قدم اُٹھانے سے باز رکھ۔

Turn not to the right hand nor to the left: remove thy foot from evil.
