Psalms 44

Ey Tanrı, kulaklarımızla duyduk, Atalarımız anlattı bize, Neler yaptığını onların gününde, eski günlerde.

We have heard with our ears, O God, our fathers have told us, what work thou didst in their days, in the times of old.

Elinle ulusları kovdun, Ama atalarımıza yer verdin; Halkları kırdın, Ama atalarımızın yayılmasını sağladın.

How thou didst drive out the heathen with thy hand, and plantedst them; how thou didst afflict the people, and cast them out.

Onlar ülkeyi kılıçla kazanmadılar, Kendi bilekleriyle zafere ulaşmadılar. Senin sağ elin, bileğin, yüzünün ışığı sayesinde oldu bu; Çünkü sen onları sevdin.

For they got not the land in possession by their own sword, neither did their own arm save them: but thy right hand, and thine arm, and the light of thy countenance, because thou hadst a favour unto them.

Ey Tanrı, kralım sensin, Buyruk ver de Yakup soyu kazansın!

Thou art my King, O God: command deliverances for Jacob.

Senin sayende düşmanlarımızı püskürteceğiz, Senin adınla karşıtlarımızı ezeceğiz.

Through thee will we push down our enemies: through thy name will we tread them under that rise up against us.

Çünkü ben yayıma güvenmem, Kılıcım da beni kurtarmaz;

For I will not trust in my bow, neither shall my sword save me.

Ancak sensin bizi düşmanlarımızdan kurtaran, Bizden nefret edenleri utanca boğan.

But thou hast saved us from our enemies, and hast put them to shame that hated us.

Her gün Tanrı’yla övünür, Sonsuza dek adına şükran sunarız. Sela

In God we boast all the day long, and praise thy name for ever. Selah.

Ne var ki, reddettin bizi, aşağıladın, Artık ordularımızla savaşa çıkmıyorsun.

But thou hast cast off, and put us to shame; and goest not forth with our armies.

Düşman karşısında bizi gerilettin, Bizden tiksinenler bizi soydu.

Thou makest us to turn back from the enemy: and they which hate us spoil for themselves.

Kasaplık koyuna çevirdin bizi, Ulusların arasına dağıttın.

Thou hast given us like sheep appointed for meat; and hast scattered us among the heathen.

Yok pahasına sattın halkını, Üstelik satıştan hiçbir şey kazanmadan.

Thou sellest thy people for nought, and dost not increase thy wealth by their price.

Bizi komşularımızın yüzkarası, Çevremizdekilerin eğlencesi, alay konusu ettin.

Thou makest us a reproach to our neighbours, a scorn and a derision to them that are round about us.

Ulusların diline düşürdün bizi, Gülüyor halklar halimize.

Thou makest us a byword among the heathen, a shaking of the head among the people.

Rezilliğim gün boyu karşımda, Utancımdan yerin dibine geçtim

My confusion is continually before me, and the shame of my face hath covered me,

Hakaret ve sövgü duya duya, Öç almak isteyen düşman karşısında.

For the voice of him that reproacheth and blasphemeth; by reason of the enemy and avenger.

Bütün bunlar başımıza geldi, Yine de seni unutmadık, Antlaşmana ihanet etmedik,

All this is come upon us; yet have we not forgotten thee, neither have we dealt falsely in thy covenant.

Döneklik etmedik, Adımlarımız senin yolundan sapmadı.

Our heart is not turned back, neither have our steps declined from thy way;

Oysa sen bizi ezdin, ülkemizi çakalların uğrağı ettin, Üstümüzü koyu karanlıkla örttün.

Though thou hast sore broken us in the place of dragons, and covered us with the shadow of death.

Eğer Tanrımız’ın adını unutsaydık, Yabancı bir ilaha ellerimizi açsaydık,

If we have forgotten the name of our God, or stretched out our hands to a strange god;

Tanrı bunu ortaya çıkarmaz mıydı? Çünkü O yürekteki gizleri bilir.

Shall not God search this out? for he knoweth the secrets of the heart.

[] Senin uğruna her gün öldürülüyoruz, Kasaplık koyun sayılıyoruz.

Yea, for thy sake are we killed all the day long; we are counted as sheep for the slaughter.

Uyan, ya Rab! Niçin uyuyorsun? Kalk! Sonsuza dek terk etme bizi!

Awake, why sleepest thou, O Lord? arise, cast us not off for ever.

Niçin yüzünü gizliyorsun? Neden mazlum halimizi, üzerimizdeki baskıyı unutuyorsun?

Wherefore hidest thou thy face, and forgettest our affliction and our oppression?

Çünkü yere serildik, Bedenimiz toprağa yapıştı.

For our soul is bowed down to the dust: our belly cleaveth unto the earth.

Kalk, yardım et bize! Kurtar bizi sevgin uğruna!

Arise for our help, and redeem us for thy mercies' sake.
