John 13

Antes da festa da páscoa, sabendo Jesus que era chegada a sua hora de passar deste mundo para o Pai, e havendo amado os seus que estavam no mundo, amou-os até o fim.

Now before the feast of the passover, when Jesus knew that his hour was come that he should depart out of this world unto the Father, having loved his own which were in the world, he loved them unto the end.

Enquanto ceavam, tendo já o Diabo posto no coração de Judas, filho de Simão Iscariotes, que o traísse,

And supper being ended, the devil having now put into the heart of Judas Iscariot, Simon's son, to betray him;

sabendo Jesus que o Pai lhe entregara tudo nas mãos, e que viera de Deus e para Deus voltava,

Jesus knowing that the Father had given all things into his hands, and that he was come from God, and went to God;

levantou-se da ceia, tirou o manto e, tomando uma toalha, cingiu-se com ela.

He riseth from supper, and laid aside his garments; and took a towel, and girded himself.

Depois deitou água na bacia e começou a lavar os pés aos discípulos, e a enxugar-lhos com a toalha com que estava cingido.

After that he poureth water into a bason, and began to wash the disciples' feet, and to wipe them with the towel wherewith he was girded.

Chegou, pois, a Simão Pedro, e este lhe disse: Senhor, tu me lavas os pés a mim?

Then cometh he to Simon Peter: and Peter saith unto him, Lord, dost thou wash my feet?

Respondeu-lhe Jesus: O que eu faço, tu não o sabes agora; mas depois o entenderás.

Jesus answered and said unto him, What I do thou knowest not now; but thou shalt know hereafter.

Tornou-lhe Pedro: Nunca me lavarás os pés. Replicou-lhe Jesus: Se eu não te lavar, não tens parte comigo.

Peter saith unto him, Thou shalt never wash my feet. Jesus answered him, If I wash thee not, thou hast no part with me.

Disse-lhe Simão Pedro: Senhor, não somente os meus pés, mas também as mãos e a cabeça.

Simon Peter saith unto him, Lord, not my feet only, but also my hands and my head.

Respondeu-lhe Jesus: Aquele que se banhou não necessita de lavar senão os pés, pois no mais está todo limpo; e vós estais limpos, mas não todos.

Jesus saith to him, He that is washed needeth not save to wash his feet, but is clean every whit: and ye are clean, but not all.

Pois ele sabia quem o havia de trair; por isso disse: Nem todos estais limpos.

For he knew who should betray him; therefore said he, Ye are not all clean.

Ora, depois de lhes ter lavado os pés, tomou o manto, tornou a reclinar-se à mesa e perguntou-lhes: Entendeis o que vos fiz?

So after he had washed their feet, and had taken his garments, and was set down again, he said unto them, Know ye what I have done to you?

Vós me chamais Mestre e Senhor; e dizeis bem, porque eu o sou.

Ye call me Master and Lord: and ye say well; for so I am.

Ora, se eu, o Senhor e Mestre, vos lavei os pés, também vós deveis lavar os pés uns aos outros.

If I then, your Lord and Master, have washed your feet; ye also ought to wash one another's feet.

Porque eu vos dei exemplo, para que, como eu vos fiz, façais vós também.

For I have given you an example, that ye should do as I have done to you.

Em verdade, em verdade vos digo: Não é o servo maior do que seu senhor, nem o enviado maior do que aquele que o enviou.

Verily, verily, I say unto you, The servant is not greater than his lord; neither he that is sent greater than he that sent him.

Se sabeis estas coisas, bem-aventurados sois se as praticardes.

If ye know these things, happy are ye if ye do them.

Não falo de todos vós; eu conheço aqueles que escolhi; mas para que se cumpra a escritura: O que come do meu pão, levantou contra mim o seu calcanhar.

I speak not of you all: I know whom I have chosen: but that the scripture may be fulfilled, He that eateth bread with me hath lifted up his heel against me.

Desde já vos digo, antes que aconteça, para que, quando acontecer, creiais que EU SOU.

Now I tell you before it come, that, when it is come to pass, ye may believe that I am he.

Em verdade, em verdade vos digo: Quem recebe aquele que eu enviar, a mim me recebe; e quem me recebe, recebe aquele que me enviou.

Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that receiveth whomsoever I send receiveth me; and he that receiveth me receiveth him that sent me.

Tendo Jesus dito isto, angustiou-se em espírito, e declarou: Em verdade, em verdade vos digo que um de vós me trairá.

When Jesus had thus said, he was troubled in spirit, and testified, and said, Verily, verily, I say unto you, that one of you shall betray me.

Os discípulos se entreolhavam, perplexos, sem saber de quem ele falava.

Then the disciples looked one on another, doubting of whom he spake.

Ora, achava-se reclinado sobre o peito de Jesus um de seus discípulos, aquele a quem Jesus amava.

Now there was leaning on Jesus' bosom one of his disciples, whom Jesus loved.

A esse, pois, fez Simão Pedro sinal, e lhe pediu: Pergunta a quem ele se refere.

Simon Peter therefore beckoned to him, that he should ask who it should be of whom he spake.

Aquele discípulo, recostando-se assim ao peito de Jesus, perguntou-lhe: Senhor, quem é?

He then lying on Jesus' breast saith unto him, Lord, who is it?

Respondeu Jesus: É aquele a quem eu der o pedaço de pão molhado. Tendo, pois, molhado um bocado de pão, deu-o a Judas, filho de Simão Iscariotes.

Jesus answered, He it is, to whom I shall give a sop, when I have dipped it. And when he had dipped the sop, he gave it to Judas Iscariot, the son of Simon.

E, logo após o bocado, entrou nele Satanás. Disse-lhe, pois, Jesus: O que fazes, faze-o depressa.

And after the sop Satan entered into him. Then said Jesus unto him, That thou doest, do quickly.

E nenhum dos que estavam à mesa percebeu com que propósito lhe dissera isto.

Now no man at the table knew for what intent he spake this unto him.

Pois, como Judas carregava a bolsa, pensaram alguns que Jesus lhe dissera: Compra o que nos é necessário para a festa; ou, que desse alguma coisa aos pobres.

For some of them thought, because Judas had the bag, that Jesus had said unto him, Buy those things that we have need of against the feast; or, that he should give something to the poor.

Então ele, tendo recebido o bocado saiu logo. E era noite.

He then having received the sop went immediately out: and it was night.

Quando ele saiu, disse Jesus: Agora é glorificado o Filho do homem, e Deus é glorificado nele;

Therefore, when he was gone out, Jesus said, Now is the Son of man glorified, and God is glorified in him.

se Deus é glorificado nele, também Deus o glorificará em si mesmo, e logo o há de glorificar.

If God be glorified in him, God shall also glorify him in himself, and shall straightway glorify him.

Filhinhos, ainda por um pouco estou convosco. Procurar-me-eis; e, como eu disse aos judeus, também a vós o digo agora: Para onde eu vou, vós não podeis ir.

Little children, yet a little while I am with you. Ye shall seek me: and as I said unto the Jews, Whither I go, ye cannot come; so now I say to you.

Um novo mandamento vos dou: que vos ameis uns aos outros; assim como eu vos amei, que também vos ameis uns aos outros.

A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another.

Nisto conhecerão todos que sois meus discípulos: se tiverdes amor uns aos outros.

By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another.

Perguntou-lhe Simão Pedro: Senhor, para onde vais? Respondeu Jesus; Para onde eu vou, não podes seguir-me agora; mais tarde, porém, me seguirás.

Simon Peter said unto him, Lord, whither goest thou? Jesus answered him, Whither I go, thou canst not follow me now; but thou shalt follow me afterwards.

Disse-lhe Pedro: Por que não posso seguir-te agora? Por ti darei a minha vida.

Peter said unto him, Lord, why cannot I follow thee now? I will lay down my life for thy sake.

Respondeu Jesus: Darás a tua vida por mim? Em verdade, em verdade te digo: Não cantará o galo até que me tenhas negado três vezes.

Jesus answered him, Wilt thou lay down thy life for my sake? Verily, verily, I say unto thee, The cock shall not crow, till thou hast denied me thrice.
