Ephesians 4

Rogo-vos, pois, eu, o prisioneiro no Senhor, que andeis como é digno da vocação com que fostes chamados,

I therefore, the prisoner of the Lord, beseech you that ye walk worthy of the vocation wherewith ye are called,

com toda a humildade e mansidão, com longanimidade, suportando-vos uns aos outros em amor,

With all lowliness and meekness, with longsuffering, forbearing one another in love;

procurando diligentemente guardar a unidade do Espírito no vínculo da paz.

Endeavouring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.

Há um só corpo e um só Espírito, como também fostes chamados em uma só esperança da vossa vocação;

There is one body, and one Spirit, even as ye are called in one hope of your calling;

um só Senhor, uma só fé, um só batismo;

One Lord, one faith, one baptism,

um só Deus e Pai de todos, o qual é sobre todos, e por todos e em todos vós.

One God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all.

Mas a cada um de nós foi dada a graça conforme a medida do dom de Cristo.

But unto every one of us is given grace according to the measure of the gift of Christ.

Por isso ele diz: Quando subiu ao alto, levou cativo o cativeiro, e deu dons aos homens.

Wherefore he saith, When he ascended up on high, he led captivity captive, and gave gifts unto men.

Ora, que ele subiu, que significa, senão que também desceu primeiro às partes mais baixas da terra?

(Now that he ascended, what is it but that he also descended first into the lower parts of the earth?

Aquele que desceu é também o mesmo que subiu muito acima de todos os céus, para que possa preencher todas as coisas.

He that descended is the same also that ascended up far above all heavens, that he might fill all things.)

E ele deu uns como apóstolos, e outros como profetas, e outros como evangelistas, e outros como pastores e mestres,

And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers;

para o aperfeiçoamento dos santos, para a obra do ministério, para edificação do corpo de Cristo;

For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ:

até que todos cheguemos à unidade da fé e do conhecimento do Filho de Deus, ao estado de homem perfeito, à medida da estatura da plenitude de Cristo;

Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ:

para que não mais sejamos meninos, jogados de um lado para o outro, levados ao redor por todo vento de doutrina, pela artimanha dos homens, pela astúcia com que induzem ao erro;

That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive;

antes, falando a verdade em amor, cresçamos nele em todas as coisas, no cabeça, que é Cristo,

But speaking the truth in love, may grow up into him in all things, which is the head, even Christ:

do qual o corpo inteiro bem ajustado, e ligado pelo auxílio de todas as juntas, segundo a justa operação de cada parte, efetua o seu crescimento para edificação de si mesmo em amor.

From whom the whole body fitly joined together and compacted by that which every joint supplieth, according to the effectual working in the measure of every part, maketh increase of the body unto the edifying of itself in love.

Portanto digo isto, e testifico no Senhor, para que não mais andeis como andam os gentios, na vaidade da sua mente,

This I say therefore, and testify in the Lord, that ye henceforth walk not as other Gentiles walk, in the vanity of their mind,

entenebrecidos no entendimento, separados da vida de Deus pela ignorância que há neles, pela dureza do seu coração;

Having the understanding darkened, being alienated from the life of God through the ignorance that is in them, because of the blindness of their heart:

os quais, tendo-se tornado insensíveis, entregaram-se à lascívia para cometerem com avidez toda sorte de impureza.

Who being past feeling have given themselves over unto lasciviousness, to work all uncleanness with greediness.

Mas vós não aprendestes assim a Cristo,

But ye have not so learned Christ;

se é que o ouvistes, e por ele fostes instruídos, como a verdade é em Jesus:

If so be that ye have heard him, and have been taught by him, as the truth is in Jesus:

de que vos despojeis, quanto ao procedimento anterior do velho homem, que é corrompido conforme as concupiscências enganosas;

That ye put off concerning the former conversation the old man, which is corrupt according to the deceitful lusts;

e vos renoveis no espírito da vossa mente;

And be renewed in the spirit of your mind;

e vos revistais do novo homem, que é criado segundo Deus em justiça e verdadeira santidade.

And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness.

Pelo que deixai a mentira, e falai a verdade cada um com o seu próximo, pois somos membros uns dos outros.

Wherefore putting away lying, speak every man truth with his neighbour: for we are members one of another.

Irai-vos, e não pequeis; não se ponha o sol sobre a vossa ira;

Be ye angry, and sin not: let not the sun go down upon your wrath:

nem deis lugar ao Diabo.

Neither give place to the devil.

Aquele que furtava, não furte mais; antes trabalhe, fazendo com as mãos o que é bom, para que tenha o que repartir com o que tem necessidade.

Let him that stole steal no more: but rather let him labour, working with his hands the thing which is good, that he may have to give to him that needeth.

Não saia da vossa boca nenhuma palavra corrupta, mas somente a que seja boa, com a finalidade de edificação, a fim de que ministre graça aos que a ouvem.

Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers.

E não entristeçais o Espírito Santo de Deus, no qual sois selados para o dia da redenção.

And grieve not the holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption.

Toda a amargura, e cólera, e ira, e gritaria, e blasfêmia sejam tiradas dentre vós, bem como toda a malícia.

Let all bitterness, and wrath, and anger, and clamour, and evil speaking, be put away from you, with all malice:

Antes sede bondosos uns para com os outros, compassivos, perdoando-vos uns aos outros, como também Deus, em favor de Cristo, vos perdoou.

And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ's sake hath forgiven you.
