Proverbs 2

My son, if thou wilt receive my words, and hide my commandments with thee;

میرے بیٹے، میری بات قبول کر کے میرے احکام اپنے دل میں محفوظ رکھ۔

So that thou incline thine ear unto wisdom, and apply thine heart to understanding;

اپنا کان حکمت پر دھر، اپنا دل سمجھ کی طرف مائل کر۔

Yea, if thou criest after knowledge, and liftest up thy voice for understanding;

بصیرت کے لئے آواز دے، چلّا کر سمجھ مانگ۔

If thou seekest her as silver, and searchest for her as for hid treasures;

اُسے یوں تلاش کر گویا چاندی ہو، اُس کا یوں کھوج لگا گویا پوشیدہ خزانہ ہو۔

Then shalt thou understand the fear of the LORD, and find the knowledge of God.

اگر تُو ایسا کرے تو تجھے رب کے خوف کی سمجھ آئے گی اور اللہ کا عرفان حاصل ہو گا۔

For the LORD giveth wisdom: out of his mouth cometh knowledge and understanding.

کیونکہ رب ہی حکمت عطا کرتا، اُسی کے منہ سے عرفان اور سمجھ نکلتی ہے۔

He layeth up sound wisdom for the righteous: he is a buckler to them that walk uprightly.

وہ سیدھی راہ پر چلنے والوں کو کامیابی فراہم کرتا اور بےالزام زندگی گزارنے والوں کی ڈھال بنا رہتا ہے۔

He keepeth the paths of judgment, and preserveth the way of his saints.

کیونکہ وہ انصاف پسندوں کی راہوں کی پہرہ داری کرتا ہے۔ جہاں بھی اُس کے ایمان دار چلتے ہیں وہاں وہ اُن کی حفاظت کرتا ہے۔

Then shalt thou understand righteousness, and judgment, and equity; yea, every good path.

تب تجھے راستی، انصاف، دیانت داری اور ہر اچھی راہ کی سمجھ آئے گی۔

When wisdom entereth into thine heart, and knowledge is pleasant unto thy soul;

کیونکہ تیرے دل میں حکمت داخل ہو جائے گی، اور علم و عرفان تیری جان کو پیارا ہو جائے گا۔

Discretion shall preserve thee, understanding shall keep thee:

تمیز تیری حفاظت اور سمجھ تیری چوکیداری کرے گی۔

To deliver thee from the way of the evil man, from the man that speaketh froward things;

حکمت تجھے غلط راہ اور کج رَو باتیں کرنے والے سے بچائے رکھے گی۔

Who leave the paths of uprightness, to walk in the ways of darkness;

ایسے لوگ سیدھی راہ کو چھوڑ دیتے ہیں تاکہ تاریک راستوں پر چلیں،

Who rejoice to do evil, and delight in the frowardness of the wicked;

وہ بُری حرکتیں کرنے سے خوش ہو جاتے ہیں، غلط کام کی کج رَوی دیکھ کر جشن مناتے ہیں۔

Whose ways are crooked, and they froward in their paths:

اُن کی راہیں ٹیڑھی ہیں، اور وہ جہاں بھی چلیں آوارہ پھرتے ہیں۔

To deliver thee from the strange woman, even from the stranger which flattereth with her words;

حکمت تجھے ناجائز عورت سے چھڑاتی ہے، اُس اجنبی عورت سے جو چِکنی چپڑی باتیں کرتی،

Which forsaketh the guide of her youth, and forgetteth the covenant of her God.

جو اپنے جیون ساتھی کو ترک کر کے اپنے خدا کا عہد بھول جاتی ہے۔

For her house inclineth unto death, and her paths unto the dead.

کیونکہ اُس کے گھر میں داخل ہونے کا انجام موت، اُس کی راہوں کی منزلِ مقصود پاتال ہے۔

None that go unto her return again, neither take they hold of the paths of life.

جو بھی اُس کے پاس جائے وہ واپس نہیں آئے گا، وہ زندگی بخش راہوں پر دوبارہ نہیں پہنچے گا۔

That thou mayest walk in the way of good men, and keep the paths of the righteous.

چنانچہ اچھے لوگوں کی راہ پر چل پھر، دھیان دے کہ تیرے قدم راست بازوں کے راستے پر رہیں۔

For the upright shall dwell in the land, and the perfect shall remain in it.

کیونکہ سیدھی راہ پر چلنے والے ملک میں آباد ہوں گے، آخرکار بےالزام ہی اُس میں باقی رہیں گے۔

But the wicked shall be cut off from the earth, and the transgressors shall be rooted out of it.

لیکن بےدین ملک سے مٹ جائیں گے، اور بےوفاؤں کو اُکھاڑ کر ملک سے خارج کر دیا جائے گا۔
