Proverbs 13

A wise son heareth his father's instruction: but a scorner heareth not rebuke.

دانش مند بیٹا اپنے باپ کی تربیت قبول کرتا ہے، لیکن طعنہ زن پروا ہی نہیں کرتا اگر کوئی اُسے ڈانٹے۔

A man shall eat good by the fruit of his mouth: but the soul of the transgressors shall eat violence.

انسان اپنے منہ کے اچھے پھل سے خوب سیر ہو جاتا ہے، لیکن بےوفا کے دل میں ظلم کا لالچ رہتا ہے۔

He that keepeth his mouth keepeth his life: but he that openeth wide his lips shall have destruction.

جو اپنی زبان قابو میں رکھے وہ اپنی زندگی محفوظ رکھتا ہے، جو اپنی زبان کو بےلگام چھوڑ دے وہ تباہ ہو جائے گا۔

The soul of the sluggard desireth, and hath nothing: but the soul of the diligent shall be made fat.

کاہل آدمی لالچ کرتا ہے، لیکن اُسے کچھ نہیں ملتا جبکہ محنتی شخص کی آرزو پوری ہو جا تی ہے۔

A righteous man hateth lying: but a wicked man is loathsome, and cometh to shame.

راست باز جھوٹ سے نفرت کرتا ہے، لیکن بےدین شرم اور رُسوائی کا باعث ہے۔

Righteousness keepeth him that is upright in the way: but wickedness overthroweth the sinner.

راستی بےالزام کی حفاظت کرتی جبکہ بےدینی گناہ گار کو تباہ کر دیتی ہے۔

There is that maketh himself rich, yet hath nothing: there is that maketh himself poor, yet hath great riches.

کچھ لوگ امیر کا روپ بھر کر پھرتے ہیں گو غریب ہیں۔ دوسرے غریب کا روپ بھر کر پھرتے ہیں گو امیر ترین ہیں۔

The ransom of a man's life are his riches: but the poor heareth not rebuke.

کبھی امیر کو اپنی جان چھڑانے کے لئے ایسا تاوان دینا پڑتا ہے کہ تمام دولت جاتی رہتی ہے، لیکن غریب کی جان اِس قسم کی دھمکی سے بچی رہتی ہے۔

The light of the righteous rejoiceth: but the lamp of the wicked shall be put out.

راست باز کی روشنی چمکتی رہتی جبکہ بےدین کا چراغ بجھ جاتا ہے۔

Only by pride cometh contention: but with the well advised is wisdom.

مغروروں میں ہمیشہ جھگڑا ہوتا ہے جبکہ دانش مند صلاح مشورے کے مطابق ہی چلتے ہیں۔

Wealth gotten by vanity shall be diminished: but he that gathereth by labour shall increase.

جلدبازی سے حاصل شدہ دولت جلد ہی ختم ہو جاتی ہے جبکہ جو رفتہ رفتہ اپنا مال جمع کرے وہ اُسے بڑھاتا رہے گا۔

Hope deferred maketh the heart sick: but when the desire cometh, it is a tree of life.

جو اُمید وقت پر پوری نہ ہو جائے وہ دل کو بیمار کر دیتی ہے، لیکن جو آرزو پوری ہو جائے وہ زندگی کا درخت ہے۔

Whoso despiseth the word shall be destroyed: but he that feareth the commandment shall be rewarded.

جو اچھی ہدایت کو حقیر جانے اُسے نقصان پہنچے گا، لیکن جو حکم مانے اُسے اجر ملے گا۔

The law of the wise is a fountain of life, to depart from the snares of death.

دانش مند کی ہدایت زندگی کا سرچشمہ ہے جو انسان کو مہلک پھندوں سے بچائے رکھتی ہے۔

Good understanding giveth favour: but the way of transgressors is hard.

اچھی سمجھ منظوری عطا کرتی ہے، لیکن بےوفا کی راہ ابدی تباہی کا باعث ہے۔

Every prudent man dealeth with knowledge: but a fool layeth open his folly.

ذہین ہر کام سوچ سمجھ کر کرتا، لیکن احمق تمام نظروں کے سامنے ہی اپنی حماقت کی نمائش کرتا ہے۔

A wicked messenger falleth into mischief: but a faithful ambassador is health.

بےدین قاصد مصیبت میں پھنس جاتا جبکہ وفادار قاصد شفا کا باعث ہے۔

Poverty and shame shall be to him that refuseth instruction: but he that regardeth reproof shall be honoured.

جو تربیت کی پروا نہ کرے اُسے غربت اور شرمندگی حاصل ہو گی، لیکن جو دوسرے کی نصیحت مان جائے اُس کا احترام کیا جائے گا۔

The desire accomplished is sweet to the soul: but it is abomination to fools to depart from evil.

جو آرزو پوری ہو جائے وہ دل کو تر و تازہ کرتی ہے، لیکن احمق بُرائی سے دریغ کرنے سے گھن کھاتا ہے۔

He that walketh with wise men shall be wise: but a companion of fools shall be destroyed.

جو دانش مندوں کے ساتھ چلے وہ خود دانش مند ہو جائے گا، لیکن جو احمقوں کے ساتھ چلے اُسے نقصان پہنچے گا۔

Evil pursueth sinners: but to the righteous good shall be repayed.

مصیبت گناہ گار کا پیچھا کرتی ہے جبکہ راست بازوں کا اجر خوش حالی ہے۔

A good man leaveth an inheritance to his children's children: and the wealth of the sinner is laid up for the just.

نیک آدمی کے بیٹے اور پوتے اُس کی میراث پائیں گے، لیکن گناہ گار کی دولت راست باز کے لئے محفوظ رکھی جائے گی۔

Much food is in the tillage of the poor: but there is that is destroyed for want of judgment.

غریب کا کھیت کثرت کی فصلیں مہیا کر سکتا ہے، لیکن جہاں انصاف نہیں وہاں سب کچھ چھین لیا جاتا ہے۔

He that spareth his rod hateth his son: but he that loveth him chasteneth him betimes.

جو اپنے بیٹے کو تنبیہ نہیں کرتا وہ اُس سے نفرت کرتا ہے۔ جو اُس سے محبت رکھے وہ وقت پر اُس کی تربیت کرتا ہے۔

The righteous eateth to the satisfying of his soul: but the belly of the wicked shall want.

راست باز جی بھر کر کھانا کھاتا ہے، لیکن بےدین کا پیٹ خالی رہتا ہے۔
