Luke 4

And Jesus being full of the Holy Ghost returned from Jordan, and was led by the Spirit into the wilderness,

عیسیٰ دریائے یردن سے واپس آیا۔ وہ روح القدس سے معمور تھا جس نے اُسے ریگستان میں لا کر اُس کی راہنمائی کی۔

Being forty days tempted of the devil. And in those days he did eat nothing: and when they were ended, he afterward hungered.

وہاں اُسے چالیس دن تک ابلیس سے آزمایا گیا۔ اِس پورے عرصے میں اُس نے کچھ نہ کھایا۔ آخرکار اُسے بھوک لگی۔

And the devil said unto him, If thou be the Son of God, command this stone that it be made bread.

پھر ابلیس نے اُس سے کہا، ”اگر تُو اللہ کا فرزند ہے تو اِس پتھر کو حکم دے کہ روٹی بن جائے۔“

And Jesus answered him, saying, It is written, That man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word of God.

لیکن عیسیٰ نے انکار کر کے کہا، ”ہرگز نہیں، کیونکہ کلامِ مُقدّس میں لکھا ہے کہ انسان کی زندگی صرف روٹی پر منحصر نہیں ہوتی۔“

And the devil, taking him up into an high mountain, shewed unto him all the kingdoms of the world in a moment of time.

اِس پر ابلیس نے اُسے کسی بلند جگہ پر لے جا کر ایک لمحے میں دنیا کے تمام ممالک دکھائے۔

And the devil said unto him, All this power will I give thee, and the glory of them: for that is delivered unto me; and to whomsoever I will I give it.

وہ بولا، ”مَیں تجھے اِن ممالک کی شان و شوکت اور اِن پر تمام اختیار دوں گا۔ کیونکہ یہ میرے سپرد کئے گئے ہیں اور جسے چاہوں دے سکتا ہوں۔

If thou therefore wilt worship me, all shall be thine.

لہٰذا یہ سب کچھ تیرا ہی ہو گا۔ شرط یہ ہے کہ تُو مجھے سجدہ کرے۔“

And Jesus answered and said unto him, Get thee behind me, Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve.

لیکن عیسیٰ نے جواب دیا، ”ہرگز نہیں، کیونکہ کلامِ مُقدّس میں یوں لکھا ہے، ’رب اپنے اللہ کو سجدہ کر اور صرف اُسی کی عبادت کر‘۔“

And he brought him to Jerusalem, and set him on a pinnacle of the temple, and said unto him, If thou be the Son of God, cast thyself down from hence:

پھر ابلیس نے اُسے یروشلم لے جا کر بیت المُقدّس کی سب سے اونچی جگہ پر کھڑا کیا اور کہا، ”اگر تُو اللہ کا فرزند ہے تو یہاں سے چھلانگ لگا دے۔

For it is written, He shall give his angels charge over thee, to keep thee:

کیونکہ کلامِ مُقدّس میں لکھا ہے، ’وہ اپنے فرشتوں کو تیری حفاظت کرنے کا حکم دے گا،

And in their hands they shall bear thee up, lest at any time thou dash thy foot against a stone.

اور وہ تجھے اپنے ہاتھوں پر اُٹھا لیں گے تاکہ تیرے پاؤں کو پتھر سے ٹھیس نہ لگے‘۔“

And Jesus answering said unto him, It is said, Thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God.

لیکن عیسیٰ نے تیسری بار انکار کیا اور کہا، ”کلامِ مُقدّس یہ بھی فرماتا ہے، ’رب اپنے اللہ کو نہ آزمانا‘۔“

And when the devil had ended all the temptation, he departed from him for a season.

اِن آزمائشوں کے بعد ابلیس نے عیسیٰ کو کچھ دیر کے لئے چھوڑ دیا۔

And Jesus returned in the power of the Spirit into Galilee: and there went out a fame of him through all the region round about.

پھر عیسیٰ واپس گلیل میں آیا۔ اُس میں روح القدس کی قوت تھی، اور اُس کی شہرت اُس پورے علاقے میں پھیل گئی۔

And he taught in their synagogues, being glorified of all.

وہاں وہ اُن کے عبادت خانوں میں تعلیم دینے لگا، اور سب نے اُس کی تعریف کی۔

And he came to Nazareth, where he had been brought up: and, as his custom was, he went into the synagogue on the sabbath day, and stood up for to read.

ایک دن وہ ناصرت پہنچا جہاں وہ پروان چڑھا تھا۔ وہاں بھی وہ معمول کے مطابق سبت کے دن مقامی عبادت خانے میں جا کر کلامِ مُقدّس میں سے پڑھنے کے لئے کھڑا ہو گیا۔

And there was delivered unto him the book of the prophet Esaias. And when he had opened the book, he found the place where it was written,

اُسے یسعیاہ نبی کی کتاب دی گئی تو اُس نے طومار کو کھول کر یہ حوالہ ڈھونڈ نکالا،

The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised,

”رب کا روح مجھ پر ہے، کیونکہ اُس نے مجھے تیل سے مسح کر کے غریبوں کو خوش خبری سنانے کا اختیار دیا ہے۔ اُس نے مجھے یہ اعلان کرنے کے لئے بھیجا ہے کہ قیدیوں کو رِہائی ملے گی اور اندھے دیکھیں گے۔ اُس نے مجھے بھیجا ہے کہ مَیں کچلے ہوؤں کو آزاد کراؤں

To preach the acceptable year of the Lord.

اور رب کی طرف سے بحالی کے سال کا اعلان کروں۔“

And he closed the book, and he gave it again to the minister, and sat down. And the eyes of all them that were in the synagogue were fastened on him.

یہ کہہ کر عیسیٰ نے طومار کو لپیٹ کر عبادت خانے کے ملازم کو واپس کر دیا اور بیٹھ گیا۔ ساری جماعت کی آنکھیں اُس پر لگی تھیں۔

And he began to say unto them, This day is this scripture fulfilled in your ears.

پھر وہ بول اُٹھا، ”آج اللہ کا یہ فرمان تمہارے سنتے ہی پورا ہو گیا ہے۔“

And all bare him witness, and wondered at the gracious words which proceeded out of his mouth. And they said, Is not this Joseph's son?

سب عیسیٰ کے حق میں باتیں کرنے لگے۔ وہ اُن پُرفضل باتوں پر حیرت زدہ تھے جو اُس کے منہ سے نکلیں، اور وہ کہنے لگے، ”کیا یہ یوسف کا بیٹا نہیں ہے؟“

And he said unto them, Ye will surely say unto me this proverb, Physician, heal thyself: whatsoever we have heard done in Capernaum, do also here in thy country.

اُس نے اُن سے کہا، ”بےشک تم مجھے یہ کہاوت بتاؤ گے، ’اے ڈاکٹر، پہلے اپنے آپ کا علاج کر۔‘ یعنی سننے میں آیا ہے کہ آپ نے کفرنحوم میں معجزے کئے ہیں۔ اب ایسے معجزے یہاں اپنے وطنی شہر میں بھی دکھائیں۔

And he said, Verily I say unto you, No prophet is accepted in his own country.

لیکن مَیں تم کو سچ بتاتا ہوں کہ کوئی بھی نبی اپنے وطنی شہر میں مقبول نہیں ہوتا۔

But I tell you of a truth, many widows were in Israel in the days of Elias, when the heaven was shut up three years and six months, when great famine was throughout all the land;

یہ حقیقت ہے کہ الیاس نبی کے زمانے میں اسرائیل میں بہت سی ضرورت مند بیوائیں تھیں، اُس وقت جب ساڑھے تین سال تک بارش نہ ہوئی اور پورے ملک میں سخت کال پڑا۔

But unto none of them was Elias sent, save unto Sarepta, a city of Sidon, unto a woman that was a widow.

اِس کے باوجود الیاس کو اُن میں سے کسی کے پاس نہیں بھیجا گیا بلکہ ایک غیریہودی بیوہ کے پاس جو صیدا کے شہر صارپت میں رہتی تھی۔

And many lepers were in Israel in the time of Eliseus the prophet; and none of them was cleansed, saving Naaman the Syrian.

اِسی طرح الیشع نبی کے زمانے میں اسرائیل میں کوڑھ کے بہت سے مریض تھے۔ لیکن اُن میں سے کسی کو شفا نہ ملی بلکہ صرف نعمان کو جو ملکِ شام کا شہری تھا۔“

And all they in the synagogue, when they heard these things, were filled with wrath,

جب عبادت خانے میں جمع لوگوں نے یہ باتیں سنیں تو وہ بڑے طیش میں آ گئے۔

And rose up, and thrust him out of the city, and led him unto the brow of the hill whereon their city was built, that they might cast him down headlong.

وہ اُٹھے اور اُسے شہر سے نکال کر اُس پہاڑی کے کنارے لے گئے جس پر شہر کو تعمیر کیا گیا تھا۔ وہاں سے وہ اُسے نیچے گرانا چاہتے تھے،

But he passing through the midst of them went his way,

لیکن عیسیٰ اُن میں سے گزر کر وہاں سے چلا گیا۔

And came down to Capernaum, a city of Galilee, and taught them on the sabbath days.

اِس کے بعد وہ گلیل کے شہر کفرنحوم کو گیا اور سبت کے دن عبادت خانے میں لوگوں کو سکھانے لگا۔

And they were astonished at his doctrine: for his word was with power.

وہ اُس کی تعلیم سن کر ہکا بکا رہ گئے، کیونکہ وہ اختیار کے ساتھ تعلیم دیتا تھا۔

And in the synagogue there was a man, which had a spirit of an unclean devil, and cried out with a loud voice,

عبادت خانے میں ایک آدمی تھا جو کسی ناپاک روح کے قبضے میں تھا۔ اب وہ چیخ چیخ کر بولنے لگا،

Saying, Let us alone; what have we to do with thee, thou Jesus of Nazareth? art thou come to destroy us? I know thee who thou art; the Holy One of God.

”ارے ناصرت کے عیسیٰ، ہمارا آپ کے ساتھ کیا واسطہ ہے؟ کیا آپ ہمیں ہلاک کرنے آئے ہیں؟ مَیں تو جانتا ہوں کہ آپ کون ہیں، آپ اللہ کے قدوس ہیں۔“

And Jesus rebuked him, saying, Hold thy peace, and come out of him. And when the devil had thrown him in the midst, he came out of him, and hurt him not.

عیسیٰ نے اُسے ڈانٹ کر کہا، ”خاموش! آدمی میں سے نکل جا!“ اِس پر بدروح آدمی کو جماعت کے بیچ میں فرش پر پٹک کر اُس میں سے نکل گئی۔ لیکن وہ آدمی زخمی نہ ہوا۔

And they were all amazed, and spake among themselves, saying, What a word is this! for with authority and power he commandeth the unclean spirits, and they come out.

تمام لوگ گھبرا گئے اور ایک دوسرے سے کہنے لگے، ”اِس آدمی کے الفاظ میں کیا اختیار اور قوت ہے کہ بدروحیں اُس کا حکم مانتی اور اُس کے کہنے پر نکل جاتی ہیں؟“

And the fame of him went out into every place of the country round about.

اور عیسیٰ کے بارے میں چرچا اُس پورے علاقے میں پھیل گیا۔

And he arose out of the synagogue, and entered into Simon's house. And Simon's wife's mother was taken with a great fever; and they besought him for her.

پھر عیسیٰ عبادت خانے کو چھوڑ کر شمعون کے گھر گیا۔ وہاں شمعون کی ساس شدید بخار میں مبتلا تھی۔ اُنہوں نے عیسیٰ سے گزارش کی کہ وہ اُس کی مدد کرے۔

And he stood over her, and rebuked the fever; and it left her: and immediately she arose and ministered unto them.

اُس نے اُس کے سرہانے کھڑے ہو کر بخار کو ڈانٹا تو وہ اُتر گیا اور شمعون کی ساس اُسی وقت اُٹھ کر اُن کی خدمت کرنے لگی۔

Now when the sun was setting, all they that had any sick with divers diseases brought them unto him; and he laid his hands on every one of them, and healed them.

جب دن ڈھل گیا تو سب مقامی لوگ اپنے مریضوں کو عیسیٰ کے پاس لائے۔ خواہ اُن کی بیماریاں کچھ بھی کیوں نہ تھیں، اُس نے ہر ایک پر اپنے ہاتھ رکھ کر اُسے شفا دی۔

And devils also came out of many, crying out, and saying, Thou art Christ the Son of God. And he rebuking them suffered them not to speak: for they knew that he was Christ.

بہتوں میں بدروحیں بھی تھیں جنہوں نے نکلتے وقت چلّا کر کہا، ”تُو اللہ کا فرزند ہے۔“ لیکن چونکہ وہ جانتی تھیں کہ وہ مسیح ہے اِس لئے اُس نے اُنہیں ڈانٹ کر بولنے نہ دیا۔

And when it was day, he departed and went into a desert place: and the people sought him, and came unto him, and stayed him, that he should not depart from them.

جب اگلا دن چڑھا تو عیسیٰ شہر سے نکل کر کسی ویران جگہ چلا گیا۔ لیکن ہجوم اُسے ڈھونڈتے ڈھونڈتے آخرکار اُس کے پاس پہنچا۔ لوگ اُسے اپنے پاس سے جانے نہیں دینا چاہتے تھے۔

And he said unto them, I must preach the kingdom of God to other cities also: for therefore am I sent.

لیکن اُس نے اُن سے کہا، ”لازم ہے کہ مَیں دوسرے شہروں میں بھی جا کر اللہ کی بادشاہی کی خوش خبری سناؤں، کیونکہ مجھے اِسی مقصد کے لئے بھیجا گیا ہے۔“

And he preached in the synagogues of Galilee.

چنانچہ وہ یہودیہ کے عبادت خانوں میں منادی کرتا رہا۔
