Luke 24

Now upon the first day of the week, very early in the morning, they came unto the sepulchre, bringing the spices which they had prepared, and certain others with them.

اتوار کے دن یہ عورتیں اپنے تیار شدہ مسالے لے کر صبح سویرے قبر پر گئیں۔

And they found the stone rolled away from the sepulchre.

وہاں پہنچ کر اُنہوں نے دیکھا کہ قبر پر کا پتھر ایک طرف لُڑھکا ہوا ہے۔

And they entered in, and found not the body of the Lord Jesus.

لیکن جب وہ قبر میں گئیں تو وہاں خداوند عیسیٰ کی لاش نہ پائی۔

And it came to pass, as they were much perplexed thereabout, behold, two men stood by them in shining garments:

وہ ابھی اُلجھن میں وہاں کھڑی تھیں کہ اچانک دو مرد اُن کے پاس آ کھڑے ہوئے جن کے لباس بجلی کی طرح چمک رہے تھے۔

And as they were afraid, and bowed down their faces to the earth, they said unto them, Why seek ye the living among the dead?

عورتیں دہشت کھا کر منہ کے بل جھک گئیں، لیکن اُن مردوں نے کہا، ”تم کیوں زندہ کو مُردوں میں ڈھونڈ رہی ہو؟

He is not here, but is risen: remember how he spake unto you when he was yet in Galilee,

وہ یہاں نہیں ہے، وہ تو جی اُٹھا ہے۔ وہ بات یاد کرو جو اُس نے تم سے اُس وقت کہی جب وہ گلیل میں تھا۔

Saying, The Son of man must be delivered into the hands of sinful men, and be crucified, and the third day rise again.

’لازم ہے کہ ابنِ آدم کو گناہ گاروں کے حوالے کر دیا جائے، مصلوب کیا جائے اور کہ وہ تیسرے دن جی اُٹھے‘۔“

And they remembered his words,

پھر اُنہیں یہ بات یاد آئی۔

And returned from the sepulchre, and told all these things unto the eleven, and to all the rest.

اور قبر سے واپس آ کر اُنہوں نے یہ سب کچھ گیارہ رسولوں اور باقی شاگردوں کو سنا دیا۔

It was Mary Magdalene, and Joanna, and Mary the mother of James, and other women that were with them, which told these things unto the apostles.

مریم مگدلینی، یُوٲنّہ، یعقوب کی ماں مریم اور چند ایک اَور عورتیں اُن میں شامل تھیں جنہوں نے یہ باتیں رسولوں کو بتائیں۔

And their words seemed to them as idle tales, and they believed them not.

لیکن اُن کو یہ باتیں بےتُکی سی لگ رہی تھیں، اِس لئے اُنہیں یقین نہ آیا۔

Then arose Peter, and ran unto the sepulchre; and stooping down, he beheld the linen clothes laid by themselves, and departed, wondering in himself at that which was come to pass.

توبھی پطرس اُٹھا اور بھاگ کر قبر کے پاس آیا۔ جب پہنچا تو جھک کر اندر جھانکا، لیکن صرف کفن ہی نظر آیا۔ یہ حالات دیکھ کر وہ حیران ہوا اور چلا گیا۔

And, behold, two of them went that same day to a village called Emmaus, which was from Jerusalem about threescore furlongs.

اُسی دن عیسیٰ کے دو پیروکار ایک گاؤں بنام اماؤس کی طرف چل رہے تھے۔ یہ گاؤں یروشلم سے تقریباً دس کلو میٹر دُور تھا۔

And they talked together of all these things which had happened.

چلتے چلتے وہ آپس میں اُن واقعات کا ذکر کر رہے تھے جو ہوئے تھے۔

And it came to pass, that, while they communed together and reasoned, Jesus himself drew near, and went with them.

اور ایسا ہوا کہ جب وہ باتیں اور ایک دوسرے کے ساتھ بحث مباحثہ کر رہے تھے تو عیسیٰ خود قریب آ کر اُن کے ساتھ چلنے لگا۔

But their eyes were holden that they should not know him.

لیکن اُن کی آنکھوں پر پردہ ڈالا گیا تھا، اِس لئے وہ اُسے پہچان نہ سکے۔

And he said unto them, What manner of communications are these that ye have one to another, as ye walk, and are sad?

عیسیٰ نے کہا، ”یہ کیسی باتیں ہیں جن کے بارے میں تم چلتے چلتے تبادلہ خیال کر رہے ہو؟“ یہ سن کر وہ غمگین سے کھڑے ہو گئے۔

And the one of them, whose name was Cleopas, answering said unto him, Art thou only a stranger in Jerusalem, and hast not known the things which are come to pass there in these days?

اُن میں سے ایک بنام کلیوپاس نے اُس سے پوچھا، ”کیا آپ یروشلم میں واحد شخص ہیں جسے معلوم نہیں کہ اِن دنوں میں کیا کچھ ہوا ہے؟“

And he said unto them, What things? And they said unto him, Concerning Jesus of Nazareth, which was a prophet mighty in deed and word before God and all the people:

اُس نے کہا، ”کیا ہوا ہے؟“ اُنہوں نے جواب دیا، ”وہ جو عیسیٰ ناصری کے ساتھ ہوا ہے۔ وہ نبی تھا جسے کلام اور کام میں اللہ اور تمام قوم کے سامنے زبردست قوت حاصل تھی۔

And how the chief priests and our rulers delivered him to be condemned to death, and have crucified him.

لیکن ہمارے راہنما اماموں اور سرداروں نے اُسے حکمرانوں کے حوالے کر دیا تاکہ اُسے سزائے موت دی جائے، اور اُنہوں نے اُسے مصلوب کیا۔

But we trusted that it had been he which should have redeemed Israel: and beside all this, to day is the third day since these things were done.

لیکن ہمیں تو اُمید تھی کہ وہی اسرائیل کو نجات دے گا۔ اِن واقعات کو تین دن ہو گئے ہیں۔

Yea, and certain women also of our company made us astonished, which were early at the sepulchre;

لیکن ہم میں سے کچھ خواتین نے بھی ہمیں حیران کر دیا ہے۔ وہ آج صبح سویرے قبر پر گئیں

And when they found not his body, they came, saying, that they had also seen a vision of angels, which said that he was alive.

تو دیکھا کہ لاش وہاں نہیں ہے۔ اُنہوں نے لوٹ کر ہمیں بتایا کہ ہم پر فرشتے ظاہر ہوئے جنہوں نے کہا کہ عیسیٰ زندہ ہے۔

And certain of them which were with us went to the sepulchre, and found it even so as the women had said: but him they saw not.

ہم میں سے کچھ قبر پر گئے اور اُسے ویسا ہی پایا جس طرح اُن عورتوں نے کہا تھا۔ لیکن اُسے خود اُنہوں نے نہیں دیکھا۔“

Then he said unto them, O fools, and slow of heart to believe all that the prophets have spoken:

پھر عیسیٰ نے اُن سے کہا، ”ارے نادانو! تم کتنے کُند ذہن ہو کہ تمہیں اُن تمام باتوں پر یقین نہیں آیا جو نبیوں نے فرمائی ہیں۔

Ought not Christ to have suffered these things, and to enter into his glory?

کیا لازم نہیں تھا کہ مسیح یہ سب کچھ جھیل کر اپنے جلال میں داخل ہو جائے؟“

And beginning at Moses and all the prophets, he expounded unto them in all the scriptures the things concerning himself.

پھر موسیٰ اور تمام نبیوں سے شروع کر کے عیسیٰ نے کلامِ مُقدّس کی ہر بات کی تشریح کی جہاں جہاں اُس کا ذکر ہے۔

And they drew nigh unto the village, whither they went: and he made as though he would have gone further.

چلتے چلتے وہ اُس گاؤں کے قریب پہنچے جہاں اُنہیں جانا تھا۔ عیسیٰ نے ایسا کیا گویا کہ وہ آگے بڑھنا چاہتا ہے،

But they constrained him, saying, Abide with us: for it is toward evening, and the day is far spent. And he went in to tarry with them.

لیکن اُنہوں نے اُسے مجبور کر کے کہا، ”ہمارے پاس ٹھہریں، کیونکہ شام ہونے کو ہے اور دن ڈھل گیا ہے۔“ چنانچہ وہ اُن کے ساتھ ٹھہرنے کے لئے اندر گیا۔

And it came to pass, as he sat at meat with them, he took bread, and blessed it, and brake, and gave to them.

اور ایسا ہوا کہ جب وہ کھانے کے لئے بیٹھ گئے تو اُس نے روٹی لے کر اُس کے لئے شکرگزاری کی دعا کی۔ پھر اُس نے اُسے ٹکڑے کر کے اُنہیں دیا۔

And their eyes were opened, and they knew him; and he vanished out of their sight.

اچانک اُن کی آنکھیں کھل گئیں اور اُنہوں نے اُسے پہچان لیا۔ لیکن اُسی لمحے وہ اوجھل ہو گیا۔

And they said one to another, Did not our heart burn within us, while he talked with us by the way, and while he opened to us the scriptures?

پھر وہ ایک دوسرے سے کہنے لگے، ”کیا ہمارے دل جوش سے نہ بھر گئے تھے جب وہ راستے میں ہم سے باتیں کرتے کرتے ہمیں صحیفوں کا مطلب سمجھا رہا تھا؟“

And they rose up the same hour, and returned to Jerusalem, and found the eleven gathered together, and them that were with them,

اور وہ اُسی وقت اُٹھ کر یروشلم واپس چلے گئے۔ جب وہ وہاں پہنچے تو گیارہ رسول اپنے ساتھیوں سمیت پہلے سے جمع تھے

Saying, The Lord is risen indeed, and hath appeared to Simon.

اور یہ کہہ رہے تھے، ”خداوند واقعی جی اُٹھا ہے! وہ شمعون پر ظاہر ہوا ہے۔“

And they told what things were done in the way, and how he was known of them in breaking of bread.

پھر اماؤس کے دو شاگردوں نے اُنہیں بتایا کہ گاؤں کی طرف جاتے ہوئے کیا ہوا تھا اور کہ عیسیٰ کے روٹی توڑتے وقت اُنہوں نے اُسے کیسے پہچانا۔

And as they thus spake, Jesus himself stood in the midst of them, and saith unto them, Peace be unto you.

وہ ابھی یہ باتیں سنا رہے تھے کہ عیسیٰ خود اُن کے درمیان آ کھڑا ہوا اور کہا، ”تمہاری سلامتی ہو۔“

But they were terrified and affrighted, and supposed that they had seen a spirit.

وہ گھبرا کر بہت ڈر گئے، کیونکہ اُن کا خیال تھا کہ کوئی بھوت پریت دیکھ رہے ہیں۔

And he said unto them, Why are ye troubled? and why do thoughts arise in your hearts?

اُس نے اُن سے کہا، ”تم کیوں پریشان ہو گئے ہو؟ کیا وجہ ہے کہ تمہارے دلوں میں شک اُبھر آیا ہے؟

Behold my hands and my feet, that it is I myself: handle me, and see; for a spirit hath not flesh and bones, as ye see me have.

میرے ہاتھوں اور پاؤں کو دیکھو کہ مَیں ہی ہوں۔ مجھے ٹٹول کر دیکھو، کیونکہ بھوت کے گوشت اور ہڈیاں نہیں ہوتیں جبکہ تم دیکھ رہے ہو کہ میرا جسم ہے۔“

And when he had thus spoken, he shewed them his hands and his feet.

یہ کہہ کر اُس نے اُنہیں اپنے ہاتھ اور پاؤں دکھائے۔

And while they yet believed not for joy, and wondered, he said unto them, Have ye here any meat?

جب اُنہیں خوشی کے مارے یقین نہیں آ رہا تھا اور تعجب کر رہے تھے تو عیسیٰ نے پوچھا، ”کیا یہاں تمہارے پاس کوئی کھانے کی چیز ہے؟“

And they gave him a piece of a broiled fish, and of an honeycomb.

اُنہوں نے اُسے بُھنی ہوئی مچھلی کا ایک ٹکڑا دیا۔

And he took it, and did eat before them.

اُس نے اُسے لے کر اُن کے سامنے ہی کھا لیا۔

And he said unto them, These are the words which I spake unto you, while I was yet with you, that all things must be fulfilled, which were written in the law of Moses, and in the prophets, and in the psalms, concerning me.

پھر اُس نے اُن سے کہا، ”یہی ہے جو مَیں نے تم کو اُس وقت بتایا تھا جب تمہارے ساتھ تھا کہ جو کچھ بھی موسیٰ کی شریعت، نبیوں کے صحیفوں اور زبور کی کتاب میں میرے بارے میں لکھا ہے اُسے پورا ہونا ہے۔“

Then opened he their understanding, that they might understand the scriptures,

پھر اُس نے اُن کے ذہن کو کھول دیا تاکہ وہ اللہ کا کلام سمجھ سکیں۔

And said unto them, Thus it is written, and thus it behoved Christ to suffer, and to rise from the dead the third day:

اُس نے اُن سے کہا، ”کلامِ مُقدّس میں یوں لکھا ہے، مسیح دُکھ اُٹھا کر تیسرے دن مُردوں میں سے جی اُٹھے گا۔

And that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in his name among all nations, beginning at Jerusalem.

پھر یروشلم سے شروع کر کے اُس کے نام میں یہ پیغام تمام قوموں کو سنایا جائے گا کہ وہ توبہ کر کے گناہوں کی معافی پائیں۔

And ye are witnesses of these things.

تم اِن باتوں کے گواہ ہو۔

And, behold, I send the promise of my Father upon you: but tarry ye in the city of Jerusalem, until ye be endued with power from on high.

اور مَیں تمہارے پاس اُسے بھیج دوں گا جس کا وعدہ میرے باپ نے کیا ہے۔ پھر تم کو آسمان کی قوت سے ملبّس کیا جائے گا۔ اُس وقت تک شہر سے باہر نہ نکلنا۔“

And he led them out as far as to Bethany, and he lifted up his hands, and blessed them.

پھر وہ شہر سے نکل کر اُنہیں بیت عنیاہ تک لے گیا۔ وہاں اُس نے اپنے ہاتھ اُٹھا کر اُنہیں برکت دی۔

And it came to pass, while he blessed them, he was parted from them, and carried up into heaven.

اور ایسا ہوا کہ برکت دیتے ہوئے وہ اُن سے جدا ہو کر آسمان پر اُٹھا لیا گیا۔

And they worshipped him, and returned to Jerusalem with great joy:

اُنہوں نے اُسے سجدہ کیا اور پھر بڑی خوشی سے یروشلم واپس چلے گئے۔

And were continually in the temple, praising and blessing God. Amen.

وہاں وہ اپنا پورا وقت بیت المُقدّس میں گزار کر اللہ کی تمجید کرتے رہے۔
