Genesis 11

And the whole earth was of one language, and of one speech.

І була вся земля одна мова та слова одні.

And it came to pass, as they journeyed from the east, that they found a plain in the land of Shinar; and they dwelt there.

І сталось, як рушали зо Сходу вони, то в Шинеарському краї рівнину знайшли, і оселилися там.

And they said one to another, Go to, let us make brick, and burn them throughly. And they had brick for stone, and slime had they for morter.

І сказали вони один одному: Ану, наробімо цегли, і добре її випалімо! І сталася цегла для них замість каменя, а смола земляна була їм за вапно.

And they said, Go to, let us build us a city and a tower, whose top may reach unto heaven; and let us make us a name, lest we be scattered abroad upon the face of the whole earth.

І сказали вони: Тож місто збудуймо собі, та башту, а вершина її аж до неба. І вчинімо для себе ймення, щоб ми не розпорошилися по поверхні всієї землі.

And the LORD came down to see the city and the tower, which the children of men builded.

І зійшов Господь, щоб побачити місто та башту, що людські сини будували її.

And the LORD said, Behold, the people is one, and they have all one language; and this they begin to do: and now nothing will be restrained from them, which they have imagined to do.

І промовив Господь: Один це народ, і мова одна для всіх них, а це ось початок їх праці. Не буде тепер нічого для них неможливого, що вони замишляли чинити.

Go to, let us go down, and there confound their language, that they may not understand one another's speech.

Тож зійдімо, і змішаймо там їхні мови, щоб не розуміли вони мови один одного.

So the LORD scattered them abroad from thence upon the face of all the earth: and they left off to build the city.

І розпорошив їх звідти Господь по поверхні всієї землі, і вони перестали будувати те місто.

Therefore is the name of it called Babel; because the LORD did there confound the language of all the earth: and from thence did the LORD scatter them abroad upon the face of all the earth.

І тому то названо ймення йому: Вавилон, бо там помішав Господь мову всієї землі. І розпорошив їх звідти Господь по поверхні всієї землі.

These are the generations of Shem: Shem was an hundred years old, and begat Arphaxad two years after the flood:

Оце нащадки Симові: Сим був віку ста літ, та й породив Арпахшада, два роки по потопі.

And Shem lived after he begat Arphaxad five hundred years, and begat sons and daughters.

І жив Сим по тому, як породив Арпахшада, п'ять сотень літ. І породив він синів і дочок.

And Arphaxad lived five and thirty years, and begat Salah:

А Арпахшад жив тридцять і п'ять літ, та й породив він Шелаха.

And Arphaxad lived after he begat Salah four hundred and three years, and begat sons and daughters.

І жив Арпахшад по тому, як породив він Шелаха, чотири сотні літ та три роки. І породив він синів та дочок.

And Salah lived thirty years, and begat Eber:

Шелах же жив тридцять літ, та й породив він Евера.

And Salah lived after he begat Eber four hundred and three years, and begat sons and daughters.

І жив Шелах по тому, як породив він Евера, чотири сотні літ і три роки. І породив він синів та дочок.

And Eber lived four and thirty years, and begat Peleg:

Евер же жив тридцять літ і чотири, та й породив він Пелеґа.

And Eber lived after he begat Peleg four hundred and thirty years, and begat sons and daughters.

І жив Евер по тому, як породив він Пелеґа, чотири сотні літ і тридцять літ. І породив він синів та дочок.

And Peleg lived thirty years, and begat Reu:

Пелеґ же жив тридцять літ, та й породив Реу.

And Peleg lived after he begat Reu two hundred and nine years, and begat sons and daughters.

І жив Пелеґ по тому, як породив Реу, дві сотні літ і дев'ять літ. І породив він синів та дочок.

And Reu lived two and thirty years, and begat Serug:

А Реу жив тридцять і два роки, та й породив Серуґа.

And Reu lived after he begat Serug two hundred and seven years, and begat sons and daughters.

І жив Реу по тому, як породив Серуґа, дві сотні літ і сім літ. І породив він синів та дочок.

And Serug lived thirty years, and begat Nahor:

А Серуґ жив тридцять літ, та й породив Нахора.

And Serug lived after he begat Nahor two hundred years, and begat sons and daughters.

І жив Серуґ по тому, як породив Нахора, дві сотні літ. І породив він синів та дочок.

And Nahor lived nine and twenty years, and begat Terah:

А Нахор жив двадцять літ і дев'ять, та й породив він Тераха.

And Nahor lived after he begat Terah an hundred and nineteen years, and begat sons and daughters.

І жив Нахор по тому, як породив він Тераха, сотню літ і дев'ятнадцять літ. І породив він синів та дочок.

And Terah lived seventy years, and begat Abram, Nahor, and Haran.

Терах же жив сімдесят літ, та й породив Аврама, і Нахора, і Гарана.

Now these are the generations of Terah: Terah begat Abram, Nahor, and Haran; and Haran begat Lot.

А оце нащадки Терахові: Терах породив Аврама, і Нахора, і Гарана. А Гаран породив Лота.

And Haran died before his father Terah in the land of his nativity, in Ur of the Chaldees.

Гаран же помер за життя свого батька, у краї свого народження, в Урі халдейському.

And Abram and Nahor took them wives: the name of Abram's wife was Sarai; and the name of Nahor's wife, Milcah, the daughter of Haran, the father of Milcah, and the father of Iscah.

І побрали Аврам та Нахор для себе жінок. Ім'я Аврамовій жінці Сара, а ймення Нахоровій жінці Мілка, дочка Гарана, Мілчиного батька і батька Їски.

But Sarai was barren; she had no child.

А Сара неплідна була, не мала нащадка вона.

And Terah took Abram his son, and Lot the son of Haran his son's son, and Sarai his daughter in law, his son Abram's wife; and they went forth with them from Ur of the Chaldees, to go into the land of Canaan; and they came unto Haran, and dwelt there.

І взяв Терах Аврама, сина свого, і Лота, сина Гаранового, сина свого сина, і Сару, невістку свою, жінку Аврама, свого сина, та й вийшов з ними з Уру халдейського, щоб піти до краю ханаанського. І прийшли вони аж до Харану, та й там оселилися.

And the days of Terah were two hundred and five years: and Terah died in Haran.

І було днів Терахових дві сотні літ та п'ять літ. І Терах помер у Харані.
