Ephesians 4

I therefore, the prisoner of the Lord, beseech you that ye walk worthy of the vocation wherewith ye are called,

Niin minä vangittu Herrassa neuvon teitä, että te siinä kutsumisessa, johon te kutsutut olette, niin vaeltaisitte kuin sopii,

With all lowliness and meekness, with longsuffering, forbearing one another in love;

Kaikella nöyryydellä, siveydellä ja pitkämielisyydellä, ja kärsikäät toinen toistanne rakkaudessa.

Endeavouring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.

Ahkeroitkaat myös pitämään hengen yhteyttä rauhan siteen kautta:

There is one body, and one Spirit, even as ye are called in one hope of your calling;

Yksi ruumis ja yksi henki, niinkuin tekin olette teidän kutsumisessanne yhdenkaltaiseen toivoon kutsutut,

One Lord, one faith, one baptism,

Yksi Herra, yksi usko, yksi kaste,

One God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all.

Yksi Jumala ja kaikkein Isä, joka kaikkein päällä on, ja kaikkein kautta, ja teissä kaikissa.

But unto every one of us is given grace according to the measure of the gift of Christ.

Mutta jokaiselle meille on armo annettu Kristuksen lahjan mitan jälkeen.

Wherefore he saith, When he ascended up on high, he led captivity captive, and gave gifts unto men.

Sentähden hän sanoo: hän on astunut ylös korkeuteen, ja on vankiuden vangiksi vienyt, ja ihmisille lahjoja antanut.

(Now that he ascended, what is it but that he also descended first into the lower parts of the earth?

Mutta se, että hän astui ylös, ei ole mikään muu kuin että hän ennen tänne astui alas, alimmaisiin maan paikkoihin.

He that descended is the same also that ascended up far above all heavens, that he might fill all things.)

Joka on astunut alas, hän on se, joka kaikkein taivasten päälle astui ylös, että hän kaikki täyttäis,

And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers;

Ja hän on pannut muutamat apostoleiksi, muutamat prophetaiksi, muutamat evankelistaiksi, muutamat paimeniksi ja opettajiksi.

For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ:

Pyhäin täydellisyyteen, palveluksen työhön ja Kristuksen ruumiin rakennukseen,

Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ:

Siihenasti kuin me kaikki tulemme uskon ja Jumalan Pojan tuntemisen yhteydessä täydeksi mieheksi, Kristuksen täydellisen varren mitan jälkeen:

That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive;

Ettemme silleen lapset olisi, jotka horjuisimme ja kaikkinaisilta opetuksen tuulilta vieteltäisiin, ihmisten koiruuden ja kavaluuden kautta, jolla he meitä käyvät ympäri, saadaksensa pettää;

But speaking the truth in love, may grow up into him in all things, which is the head, even Christ:

Mutta olkaamme toimelliset rakkaudessa ja kasvakaamme kaikissa, hänessä, joka pää on, Kristus,

From whom the whole body fitly joined together and compacted by that which every joint supplieth, according to the effectual working in the measure of every part, maketh increase of the body unto the edifying of itself in love.

Josta koko ruumis on koottu ja yhteen liitetty, kaiken yhdistyksen kautta, joka siihen lisääntyy, sen vaikutuksen ja määrän jälkeen, joka kullakin jäsenellä on, siitä kasvaa ruumis omaksi rakennukseksensa rakkaudessa.

This I say therefore, and testify in the Lord, that ye henceforth walk not as other Gentiles walk, in the vanity of their mind,

Niin minä nyt sanon ja todistan Herrassa, ettette silleen vaella niinkuin muut pakanat vaeltavat mielensä tyhmyydessä,

Having the understanding darkened, being alienated from the life of God through the ignorance that is in them, because of the blindness of their heart:

Joiden ymmärrys pimitetty on ja ovat vieraantuneet siitä elämästä, joka Jumalasta on, tyhmyyden kautta, joka heissä on, ja heidän sydämensä kovuuden kautta,

Who being past feeling have given themselves over unto lasciviousness, to work all uncleanness with greediness.

Jotka, sitten kuin he olivat paatuneet, antoivat ylön heitänsä haureuteen ja tekivät kaikkinaista saastaisuutta ylönpalttisessa himossa.

But ye have not so learned Christ;

Mutta ette niin Kristusta ole oppineet.

If so be that ye have heard him, and have been taught by him, as the truth is in Jesus:

Jos te muutoin hänestä kuulleet olette ja hänessä opetetut olette, niinkuin totuus Jesuksessa on,

That ye put off concerning the former conversation the old man, which is corrupt according to the deceitful lusts;

Niin pankaat pois vanha ihminen, jonka kanssa te ennen vaelsitte, joka himoin kautta eksyksissä itsensä turmelee;

And be renewed in the spirit of your mind;

Mutta uudistakaat teitänne teidän mielenne hengessä,

And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness.

Ja pukekaat päällenne uusi ihminen, joka Jumalan jälkeen luotu on, totisessa vahurskaudessa ja pyhyydessä.

Wherefore putting away lying, speak every man truth with his neighbour: for we are members one of another.

Sentähden pankaat pois valhe, ja puhukaan jokainen lähimmäisensä kanssa totuutta; sillä me olemme jäsenet keskenämme.

Be ye angry, and sin not: let not the sun go down upon your wrath:

Vihastukaat ja älkäät syntiä tehkö, älkäät antako auringon laskea ylitse teidän vihanne,

Neither give place to the devil.

Älkäät antako laittajalle siaa.

Let him that stole steal no more: but rather let him labour, working with his hands the thing which is good, that he may have to give to him that needeth.

Joka varastanut on, älkään silleen varastako, vaan paremmin tehkään työtä ja toimittakaan käsillänsä jotakin hyvää, että hänellä olis tarvitsevalle jakamista.

Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers.

Älköön yksikään rietas puhe teidän suustanne lähtekö, vaan mitä sovelias on parannuksen tarpeeksi, että se kelvollinen kuulla olis.

And grieve not the holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption.

Ja älkäät Jumalan Pyhää Henkeä murheelliseksi saattako, jossa te lunastuksen päivään asti kiinnitetyt olette.

Let all bitterness, and wrath, and anger, and clamour, and evil speaking, be put away from you, with all malice:

Kaikki haikeus, ja närkästys, ja viha, ja huuto, ja sadatus olkoon kaukana teistä kaiken pahuuden kanssa.

And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ's sake hath forgiven you.

Mutta olkaat keskenänne ystävälliset ja laupiaat, ja anteeksi antakaat toinen toisellenne niinkuin Jumala teillekin Kristuksen kautta anteeksi antanut on.
