Psalms 38

Dávid zsoltára emlékeztetőül.

O LORD, rebuke me not in thy wrath: neither chasten me in thy hot displeasure.

Uram, haragodban ne fenyíts meg engem; felgerjedésedben ne ostorozz meg engem!

For thine arrows stick fast in me, and thy hand presseth me sore.

Mert nyilaid belém akadtak, és kezed rám nehezült.

There is no soundness in my flesh because of thine anger; neither is there any rest in my bones because of my sin.

Nincs épség testemben a te haragodtól; nincs békesség csontjaimban vétkeim miatt.

For mine iniquities are gone over mine head: as an heavy burden they are too heavy for me.

Mert bűneim elborítják fejemet; súlyos teherként, erőm felett.

My wounds stink and are corrupt because of my foolishness.

Megsenyvedtek, megbűzhödtek sebeim oktalanságom miatt.

I am troubled; I am bowed down greatly; I go mourning all the day long.

Lehorgadtam, meggörbedtem nagyon; naponta szomorúan járok.

For my loins are filled with a loathsome disease: and there is no soundness in my flesh.

Mert derekam megtelt gyulladással, és testemben semmi ép sincsen.

I am feeble and sore broken: I have roared by reason of the disquietness of my heart.

Erőtlen és összetört vagyok nagyon, s szívem keserűsége miatt jajgatok.

Lord, all my desire is before thee; and my groaning is not hid from thee.

Uram, előtted van minden kívánságom, és nincs előled elrejtve az én nyögésem!

My heart panteth, my strength faileth me: as for the light of mine eyes, it also is gone from me.

Szívem dobogva ver, elhágy erőm, s szemem világa - az sincs már velem.

My lovers and my friends stand aloof from my sore; and my kinsmen stand afar off.

Szeretteim és barátaim félreállanak csapásomban; rokonaim pedig messze állanak.

They also that seek after my life lay snares for me: and they that seek my hurt speak mischievous things, and imagine deceits all the day long.

De tőrt vetnek, a kik életemre törnek, és a kik bajomra törnek; hitványságokat beszélnek, és csalárdságot koholnak mindennap.

But I, as a deaf man, heard not; and I was as a dumb man that openeth not his mouth.

De én, mint a siket, nem hallok, és olyan vagyok, mint a néma, a ki nem nyitja föl száját.

Thus I was as a man that heareth not, and in whose mouth are no reproofs.

És olyanná lettem, mint az, a ki nem hall, és szájában nincsen ellenmondás.

For in thee, O LORD, do I hope: thou wilt hear, O Lord my God.

Mert téged vártalak Uram, te hallgass meg Uram, Istenem!

For I said, Hear me, lest otherwise they should rejoice over me: when my foot slippeth, they magnify themselves against me.

Mert azt gondolom: csak ne örülnének rajtam; mikor lábam ingott, hatalmaskodtak ellenem!

For I am ready to halt, and my sorrow is continually before me.

És bizony közel vagyok az eleséshez, és bánatom mindig előttem van.

For I will declare mine iniquity; I will be sorry for my sin.

Sőt bevallom bűneimet, bánkódom vétkem miatt.

But mine enemies are lively, and they are strong: and they that hate me wrongfully are multiplied.

De ellenségeim élnek, erősödnek; megsokasodtak hazug gyűlölőim,

They also that render evil for good are mine adversaries; because I follow the thing that good is.

És a kik jóért roszszal fizetnek; ellenem törnek, a miért én jóra törekszem.

Forsake me not, O LORD: O my God, be not far from me.

Ne hagyj el Uram Istenem, ne távolodjál el tőlem! * (Psalms 38:23) Siess segítségemre, oh Uram, én szabadítóm! *

Make haste to help me, O Lord my salvation.
