Proverbs 19

वह गरीब श्रेष्ठ है, जो निष्कलंक रहता; न कि वह मूर्ख जिसकी कुटिलतापूर्ण वाणी है।

Better is the poor that walketh in his integrity, than he that is perverse in his lips, and is a fool.

ज्ञान रहित उत्साह रखना अच्छा नहीं है इससे उतावली में गलती हो जाती है।

Also, that the soul be without knowledge, it is not good; and he that hasteth with his feet sinneth.

मनुष्य अपनी ही मूर्खता से अपनी जीवन बिगाड़ लेता है, किन्तु वह यहोवा को दोषी ठहराता है।

The foolishness of man perverteth his way: and his heart fretteth against the LORD.

धन से बहुत सारे मित्र बन जाते हैं, किन्तु गरीब जन को उसका मित्र भी छोड़ जाता है।

Wealth maketh many friends; but the poor is separated from his neighbour.

झूठा गवाह बिना दण्ड पाये नहीं बचेगा और जो झूठ उगलता रहता है, छूटने नहीं पायेगा।

A false witness shall not be unpunished, and he that speaketh lies shall not escape.

उसके बहुत से मित्र बन जाना चाहते हैं, जो उपहार देता रहता है।

Many will intreat the favour of the prince: and every man is a friend to him that giveth gifts.

निर्धन के सभी सम्बंधी उससे कतराते हैं। उसके मित्र उससे कितना बचते फिरते हैं, यद्यपि वह उन्हें अनुनय—विनय से मनाता रहता है किन्तु वे उसे कहीं मिलते ही नहीं हैं।

All the brethren of the poor do hate him: how much more do his friends go far from him? he pursueth them with words, yet they are wanting to him.

जो ज्ञान पाता है वह अपने ही प्राण से प्रीति रखता, वह जो समझ बूझ बढ़ाता रहता है फलता और फूलता है।

He that getteth wisdom loveth his own soul: he that keepeth understanding shall find good.

झूठा गवाह दण्ड पाये बिना नहीं बचेगा, और वह, जो झूठ उगलता रहता है ध्वस्त हो जायेगा।

A false witness shall not be unpunished, and he that speaketh lies shall perish.

मूर्ख धनी नहीं बनना चाहिये। वह ऐसे होगा जैसे कोई दास युवराजाओं पर राज करें।

Delight is not seemly for a fool; much less for a servant to have rule over princes.

अगर मनुष्य बुद्धिमान हो उसकी बुद्धि उसे धीरज देती है। जब वह उन लोगों को क्षमा करता है जो उसके विरूद्ध हो, तो अच्छा लगता है।

The discretion of a man deferreth his anger; and it is his glory to pass over a transgression.

राजा का क्रोध सिंह की दहाड़ सा है, किन्तु उसकी कृपा घास पर की ओस की बूंद सी होती।

The king's wrath is as the roaring of a lion; but his favour is as dew upon the grass.

मूर्ख पुत्र विनाश का बाढ़ होता है; अपने पिता के लिए और पत्नी के नित्य झगड़े हर दम का टपका है।

A foolish son is the calamity of his father: and the contentions of a wife are a continual dropping.

भवन और धन दौलत माँ बाप से दान में मिल जाते; किन्तु बुद्धिमान पत्नी यहोवा से मिलती है।

House and riches are the inheritance of fathers: and a prudent wife is from the LORD.

आलस्य गहन घोर निद्रा देता है किन्तु वह आलसी भूखा मरता है।

Slothfulness casteth into a deep sleep; and an idle soul shall suffer hunger.

ऐसा मनुष्य जो निर्देशों पर चलता वह अपने जीवन की रखवाली करता है। किन्तु जो सदुपदेशों उपेक्षा करता है वह मृत्यु अपनाता है।

He that keepeth the commandment keepeth his own soul; but he that despiseth his ways shall die.

गरीब पर कृपा दिखाना यहोवा को उधार देना है, यहोवा उसे, उसके इस कर्म का प्रतिफल देगा।

He that hath pity upon the poor lendeth unto the LORD; and that which he hath given will he pay him again.

तू अपने पुत्र को अनुशासित कर और उसे दण्ड दे, जब वह अनुचित हो। बस यही आशा है। यदि तू ऐसा करने को मना करे, तब तो तू उसके विनाश में उसका सहायक बनता है।

Chasten thy son while there is hope, and let not thy soul spare for his crying.

यदि किसी मनुष्य को तुरंत क्रोध आयेगा, उसको इसका मूल्य चुकाना होगा। यदि तू उसकी रक्षा करता है, तो कितना ही बार तुझे उसको बचाना होगा।

A man of great wrath shall suffer punishment: for if thou deliver him, yet thou must do it again.

सुमति पर ध्यान दे और सुधार को अपना ले तू जिससे अंत में तू बूद्धिमान बन जाये।

Hear counsel, and receive instruction, that thou mayest be wise in thy latter end.

मनुष्य अपने मन में क्या—क्या! करने की सोचता है किन्तु यहोवा का उद्देश्य पूरा होता है।

There are many devices in a man's heart; nevertheless the counsel of the LORD, that shall stand.

लोग चाहते हैं व्यक्ति विश्वास योग्य और सच्चा हो, इसलिए गरीबी में विश्वासयोग्य बनकर रहना अच्छा है। ऐसा व्यक्ति बनने से जिस पर कोई विश्वास न करे।

The desire of a man is his kindness: and a poor man is better than a liar.

यहोवा का भय सच्चे जीवन की राह दिखाता, इससे व्यक्ति शांति पाता है और कष्ट से बचता है।

The fear of the LORD tendeth to life: and he that hath it shall abide satisfied; he shall not be visited with evil.

आलसी का हाथ चाहे थाली में रखा हो किन्तु वह उसको मुँह तक नहीं ला सकता।

A slothful man hideth his hand in his bosom, and will not so much as bring it to his mouth again.

उच्छृंखल को पीट, जिससे सरल जन बुद्धि पाये बुद्धिमान को डाँट, वह और ज्ञान पायेगा।

Smite a scorner, and the simple will beware: and reprove one that hath understanding, and he will understand knowledge.

ऐसा पुत्र जो निन्दनीय कर्म करता है घर का अपमान होता है, वह ऐसा होता है जैसे पुत्र कोई निज पिता से छीने और घर से असहाय माँ को निकाल बाहर करे।

He that wasteth his father, and chaseth away his mother, is a son that causeth shame, and bringeth reproach.

मेरे पुत्र यदि तू अनुशासन पर ध्यान देना छोड़ देगा, तो तू ज्ञान के वचनों से भटक जायेगा।

Cease, my son, to hear the instruction that causeth to err from the words of knowledge.

भ्रष्ट गवाह न्याय की हँसी उड़ाता है, और दुष्ट का मुख पाप को निगल जाता।

An ungodly witness scorneth judgment: and the mouth of the wicked devoureth iniquity.

उच्छृंखल दण्ड पायेगा, और मूर्ख जन की पीठ कोड़े खायेगी।

Judgments are prepared for scorners, and stripes for the back of fools.
