Ephesians 4

بنابراین، من كه به‌خاطر خداوند زندانی هستم از شما تقاضا می‌کنم، زندگی شما شایستهٔ مقامی باشد كه به آن خوانده شده‌اید.

I therefore, the prisoner of the Lord, beseech you that ye walk worthy of the vocation wherewith ye are called,

همیشه فروتن، ملایم و بردبار باشید و با محبّت یكدیگر را تحمّل كنید.

With all lowliness and meekness, with longsuffering, forbearing one another in love;

برای حفظ آن وحدتی كه روح‌القدس به وجود می‌آورد و با رشته‌های صلح و صفا به هم پیوسته می‌شود، نهایت كوشش خود را بكنید.

Endeavouring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.

همان‌طور كه یک بدن و یک روح‌القدس است، خدا نیز در وقتی‌که شما را خواند، یک امید به شما داده است.

There is one body, and one Spirit, even as ye are called in one hope of your calling;

و همچنین یک خداوند و یک ایمان و یک تعمید؛

One Lord, one faith, one baptism,

و یک خدا وجود دارد كه پدر همه و بالاتر از همه بوده و در همه كار می‌کند و در همه ساكن است.

One God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all.

امّا به هر یک از ما بر حسب سخاوت و بخشایش مسیح عطیهٔ خاصّی داده شده است.

But unto every one of us is given grace according to the measure of the gift of Christ.

به این جهت كلام خدا می‌فرماید: «وقتی او به آسمان بالا رفت اسیران را به اسارت برد؛ و عطایایی به آدمیان بخشید.»

Wherefore he saith, When he ascended up on high, he led captivity captive, and gave gifts unto men.

آیا مقصود از بالا رفتن جز این است كه اول به جهان زیرین پایین آمده بود؟

(Now that he ascended, what is it but that he also descended first into the lower parts of the earth?

پس آن کسی‌که پایین آمد، همان است كه بالا رفت. او بالاتر از تمام آسمانها رفته است تا كلّیهٔ كاینات را با حضور خود پر سازد.

He that descended is the same also that ascended up far above all heavens, that he might fill all things.)

او عطایای مختلفی به مردم بخشید یعنی: بعضی را برای رسالت، بعضی را برای نبوّت، بعضی را برای بشارت و بعضی را برای شبانی و تعلیم برگزید،

And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers;

تا مقدّسین را در كاری كه برای او انجام می‌دهند، مجهّز سازد تا به این وسیله بدن مسیح را تقویت نمایند.

For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ:

تا ما همه به آن وحدتی كه در ایمان و شناسایی فرزند خداست، دست یابیم و مطابق آن میزان كاملی كه در مسیح یافت می‌شود، به انسانیّت كامل برسیم.

Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ:

در آن صورت دیگر مثل بچّه‌ها نخواهیم بود كه با امواج رانده می‌شوند و از بادهای متغیّر تعالیم بشری متلاطم می‌گردند و فریب حیله‌ها و نیرنگهای مردمی را می‌خورند كه می‌خواهند آنها را از حقیقت دور سازند،

That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive;

بلكه در همان حالی‌كه حقیقت را با روح محبّت بیان می‌کنیم ما باید در هر مورد، در مسیح كه سر است، رشد كنیم.

But speaking the truth in love, may grow up into him in all things, which is the head, even Christ:

به ارادهٔ او همهٔ اعضای مختلف بدن به وسیلهٔ مفاصلی كه برای آنها فراهم شده مربوط و پیوند می‌شوند. پس وقتی هر یک از اعضای بدن به طور جداگانه مرتّب كار كند، تمام بدن رشد می‌کند و خود را در محبّت بنا می‌نماید.

From whom the whole body fitly joined together and compacted by that which every joint supplieth, according to the effectual working in the measure of every part, maketh increase of the body unto the edifying of itself in love.

پس به نام خداوند این را می‌گویم و بر آن تأكید می‌کنم كه شما دیگر نباید مانند كافران كه در پیروی از خیالات بیهودهٔ خود به سر می‌برند، زندگی كنید.

This I say therefore, and testify in the Lord, that ye henceforth walk not as other Gentiles walk, in the vanity of their mind,

افكار آنها تیره شده است. جهالتی كه در میان آنهاست و سخت‌دلی آنان، ایشان را از حیاتی كه خدا می‌بخشد، محروم كرده است.

Having the understanding darkened, being alienated from the life of God through the ignorance that is in them, because of the blindness of their heart:

عواطف خود را از دست داده و خود را تسلیم هوی و هوس کرده‌اند و برای ارضاء امیال پست خود، از هیچ كاری فرو‌گذار نمی‌کنند.

Who being past feeling have given themselves over unto lasciviousness, to work all uncleanness with greediness.

اینها چیزهایی نیست كه شما از مسیح یاد گرفتید.

But ye have not so learned Christ;

البتّه اگر واقعاً از مسیح باخبر شده‌اید و در اتّحاد با او، حقیقت را آن‌چنان‌که در عیسی یافت می‌شود، آموخته‌‌اید.

If so be that ye have heard him, and have been taught by him, as the truth is in Jesus:

شما باید از آن زندگی‌ای كه در گذشته داشتید، دست بكشید و آن سرشتی را كه قبلاً داشتید، از خود دور سازید. زیرا آن سرشت فریب شهوات خود را خورده و در راه هلاكت است.

That ye put off concerning the former conversation the old man, which is corrupt according to the deceitful lusts;

دل و ذهن شما باید کاملاً نو شود

And be renewed in the spirit of your mind;

و سرشت تازه‌ای را كه در نیكی و پاكی حقیقی و به صورت خدا آفریده شده است، به خود بپوشانید.

And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness.

پس دیگر به هیچ وجه دروغ نگویید، بلكه همیشه به دیگران راست بگویید، زیرا همهٔ ما اعضای یكدیگریم.

Wherefore putting away lying, speak every man truth with his neighbour: for we are members one of another.

اگر عصبانی شُدید، نگذارید خشمتان شما را به گناه بكشاند و یا تا غروب آفتاب باقی بماند.

Be ye angry, and sin not: let not the sun go down upon your wrath:

به ابلیس فرصت ندهید.

Neither give place to the devil.

دزد از دزدی دست بردارد و به عوض آن با دستهای خود، با آبرومندی كار كند تا چیزی داشته باشد كه به نیازمندان بدهد.

Let him that stole steal no more: but rather let him labour, working with his hands the thing which is good, that he may have to give to him that needeth.

یک كلمهٔ زشت از دهانتان خارج نشود بلكه گفتار شما به موقع، خوب و سودمند باشد تا در نتیجهٔ آن به شنوندگان فیضی برسد.

Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers.

روح‌القدسِ خدا را نرنجانید. زیرا او مهر مالكیّت خدا بر شماست و ضامن آمدن روزی است كه در آن کاملاً آزاد می‌شوید.

And grieve not the holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption.

از این پس دیگر هیچ نوع بغض، غیظ، خشم، داد و فریاد، دشنام و نفرت را در میان خود راه ندهید.

Let all bitterness, and wrath, and anger, and clamour, and evil speaking, be put away from you, with all malice:

نسبت به یكدیگر مهربان و دلسوز باشید و چنانکه خدا در شخص مسیح شما را بخشیده است، شما نیز یكدیگر را ببخشید.

And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ's sake hath forgiven you.
