Proverbs 19

Lepší jest chudý, jenž chodí v upřímnosti své, nežli převrácený ve rtech svých, kterýž jest blázen.

Better is the poor that walketh in his integrity, than he that is perverse in his lips, and is a fool.

Jistě že bez umění duši není dobře, a kdož jest kvapných noh, hřeší.

Also, that the soul be without knowledge, it is not good; and he that hasteth with his feet sinneth.

Bláznovství člověka převrací cestu jeho, ačkoli proti Hospodinu zpouzí se srdce jeho.

The foolishness of man perverteth his way: and his heart fretteth against the LORD.

Statek přidává přátel množství, ale chudý od přítele svého odloučen bývá.

Wealth maketh many friends; but the poor is separated from his neighbour.

Svědek falešný nebude bez pomsty, a kdož mluví lež, neuteče.

A false witness shall not be unpunished, and he that speaketh lies shall not escape.

Mnozí pokoří se před knížetem, a každý jest přítel muži štědrému.

Many will intreat the favour of the prince: and every man is a friend to him that giveth gifts.

Všickni bratří chudého v nenávisti jej mají; čím více přátelé jeho vzdalují se od něho! Když volá za nimi, není jich.

All the brethren of the poor do hate him: how much more do his friends go far from him? he pursueth them with words, yet they are wanting to him.

Ten, kdož miluje duši svou, nabývá moudrosti, a ostříhá opatrnosti, aby nalezl dobré.

He that getteth wisdom loveth his own soul: he that keepeth understanding shall find good.

Svědek falešný nebude bez pomsty, a kdož mluví lež, zahyne.

A false witness shall not be unpunished, and he that speaketh lies shall perish.

Nesluší na blázna rozkoš, a ovšem, aby služebník nad knížaty panoval.

Delight is not seemly for a fool; much less for a servant to have rule over princes.

Rozum člověka zdržuje hněv jeho, a čest jeho jest prominouti provinění.

The discretion of a man deferreth his anger; and it is his glory to pass over a transgression.

Prchlivost královská jako řvání mladého lva jest, a ochotnost jeho jako rosa na bylinu.

The king's wrath is as the roaring of a lion; but his favour is as dew upon the grass.

Trápení otci svému jest syn bláznivý, a ustavičné kapání žena svárlivá.

A foolish son is the calamity of his father: and the contentions of a wife are a continual dropping.

Dům a statek jest po rodičích, ale od Hospodina manželka rozumná.

House and riches are the inheritance of fathers: and a prudent wife is from the LORD.

Lenost přivodí tvrdý sen, a duše váhavá lačněti bude.

Slothfulness casteth into a deep sleep; and an idle soul shall suffer hunger.

Ten, kdož ostříhá přikázaní, ostříhá duše své; ale kdož pohrdá cestami svými, zahyne.

He that keepeth the commandment keepeth his own soul; but he that despiseth his ways shall die.

Kdo uděluje chudému, půjčuje Hospodinu, a onť za dobrodiní jeho odplatí jemu.

He that hath pity upon the poor lendeth unto the LORD; and that which he hath given will he pay him again.

Tresci syna svého, dokudž jest o něm naděje, a k zahynutí jeho neodpouštěj jemu duše tvá.

Chasten thy son while there is hope, and let not thy soul spare for his crying.

Veliký hněv ukazuj, odpouštěje trestání, proto že poněvadž odpouštíš, potom více trestati budeš.

A man of great wrath shall suffer punishment: for if thou deliver him, yet thou must do it again.

Poslouchej rady, a přijímej kázeň, abys vždy někdy moudrý byl.

Hear counsel, and receive instruction, that thou mayest be wise in thy latter end.

Mnozí úmyslové jsou v srdci člověka, ale uložení Hospodinovo toť ostojí.

There are many devices in a man's heart; nevertheless the counsel of the LORD, that shall stand.

Žádaná věc člověku jest dobře činiti jiným, ale počestnější jest chudý než muž lživý.

The desire of a man is his kindness: and a poor man is better than a liar.

Bázeň Hospodinova k životu. Takový jsa nasycen, bydlí, aniž neštěstím navštíven bývá.

The fear of the LORD tendeth to life: and he that hath it shall abide satisfied; he shall not be visited with evil.

Lenivý schovává ruku svou za ňadra, ani k ústům svým jí nevztáhne.

A slothful man hideth his hand in his bosom, and will not so much as bring it to his mouth again.

Ubí posměvače, ať se hlupec dovtípí; a potresci rozumného, ať porozumí umění.

Smite a scorner, and the simple will beware: and reprove one that hath understanding, and he will understand knowledge.

Syn, kterýž hanbu a lehkost činí, hubí otce, a zahání matku.

He that wasteth his father, and chaseth away his mother, is a son that causeth shame, and bringeth reproach.

Přestaň, synu můj, poslouchati učení, kteréž od řečí rozumných odvozuje.

Cease, my son, to hear the instruction that causeth to err from the words of knowledge.

Svědek nešlechetný posmívá se soudu, a ústa bezbožných přikrývají nepravost.

An ungodly witness scorneth judgment: and the mouth of the wicked devoureth iniquity.

Nebo na posměvače hotoví jsou nálezové, a rány na hřbet bláznů.

Judgments are prepared for scorners, and stripes for the back of fools.
