Deuteronomy 32

اے آسمان، میری بات پر غور کر! اے زمین، میرا گیت سن!

Give ear, O ye heavens, and I will speak; and hear, O earth, the words of my mouth.

میری تعلیم بوندا باندی جیسی ہو، میری بات شبنم کی طرح زمین پر پڑ جائے۔ وہ بارش کی مانند ہو جو ہریالی پر برستی ہے۔

My doctrine shall drop as the rain, my speech shall distil as the dew, as the small rain upon the tender herb, and as the showers upon the grass:

مَیں رب کا نام پکاروں گا۔ ہمارے خدا کی عظمت کی تمجید کرو!

Because I will publish the name of the LORD: ascribe ye greatness unto our God.

وہ چٹان ہے، اور اُس کا کام کامل ہے۔ اُس کی تمام راہیں راست ہیں۔ وہ وفادار خدا ہے جس میں فریب نہیں ہے بلکہ جو عادل اور دیانت دار ہے۔

He is the Rock, his work is perfect: for all his ways are judgment: a God of truth and without iniquity, just and right is he.

ایک ٹیڑھی اور کج رَو نسل نے اُس کا گناہ کیا۔ وہ اُس کے فرزند نہیں بلکہ داغ ثابت ہوئے ہیں۔

They have corrupted themselves, their spot is not the spot of his children: they are a perverse and crooked generation.

اے میری احمق اور بےسمجھ قوم، کیا تمہارا رب سے ایسا رویہ ٹھیک ہے؟ وہ تو تمہارا باپ اور خالق ہے، جس نے تمہیں بنایا اور قائم کیا۔

Do ye thus requite the LORD, O foolish people and unwise? is not he thy father that hath bought thee? hath he not made thee, and established thee?

قدیم زمانے کو یاد کرنا، ماضی کی نسلوں پر توجہ دینا۔ اپنے باپ سے پوچھنا تو وہ تجھے بتا دے گا، اپنے بزرگوں سے پتا کرنا تو وہ تجھے اطلاع دیں گے۔

Remember the days of old, consider the years of many generations: ask thy father, and he will shew thee; thy elders, and they will tell thee.

جب اللہ تعالیٰ نے ہر قوم کو اُس کا اپنا اپنا موروثی علاقہ دے کر تمام انسانوں کو مختلف گروہوں میں الگ کر دیا تو اُس نے قوموں کی سرحدیں اسرائیلیوں کی تعداد کے مطابق مقرر کیں۔

When the most High divided to the nations their inheritance, when he separated the sons of Adam, he set the bounds of the people according to the number of the children of Israel.

کیونکہ رب کا حصہ اُس کی قوم ہے، یعقوب کو اُس نے میراث میں پایا ہے۔

For the LORD'S portion is his people; Jacob is the lot of his inheritance.

یہ قوم اُسے ریگستان میں مل گئی، ویران و سنسان بیابان میں جہاں چاروں طرف ہول ناک آوازیں گونجتی تھیں۔ اُس نے اُسے گھیر کر اُس کی دیکھ بھال کی، اُسے اپنی آنکھ کی پُتلی کی طرح بچائے رکھا۔

He found him in a desert land, and in the waste howling wilderness; he led him about, he instructed him, he kept him as the apple of his eye.

جب عقاب اپنے بچوں کو اُڑنا سکھاتا ہے تو وہ اُنہیں گھونسلے سے نکال کر اُن کے ساتھ اُڑتا ہے۔ اگر وہ گر بھی جائیں تو وہ حاضر ہے اور اُن کے نیچے اپنے پَروں کو پھیلا کر اُنہیں زمین سے ٹکرا جانے سے بچاتا ہے۔ رب کا اسرائیل کے ساتھ یہی سلوک تھا۔

As an eagle stirreth up her nest, fluttereth over her young, spreadeth abroad her wings, taketh them, beareth them on her wings:

رب نے اکیلے ہی اُس کی راہنمائی کی۔ کسی اجنبی معبود نے شرکت نہ کی۔

So the LORD alone did lead him, and there was no strange god with him.

اُس نے اُسے رتھ پر سوار کر کے ملک کی بلندیوں پر سے گزرنے دیا اور اُسے کھیت کا پھل کھلا کر اُسے چٹان سے شہد اور سخت پتھر سے زیتون کا تیل مہیا کیا۔

He made him ride on the high places of the earth, that he might eat the increase of the fields; and he made him to suck honey out of the rock, and oil out of the flinty rock;

اُس نے اُسے گائے کی لسی اور بھیڑبکری کا دودھ چیدہ بھیڑ کے بچوں سمیت کھلایا اور اُسے بسن کے موٹے تازے مینڈھے، بکرے اور بہترین اناج عطا کیا۔ اُس وقت تُو اعلیٰ انگور کی عمدہ مَے سے لطف اندوز ہوا۔

Butter of kine, and milk of sheep, with fat of lambs, and rams of the breed of Bashan, and goats, with the fat of kidneys of wheat; and thou didst drink the pure blood of the grape.

لیکن جب یسورون موٹا ہو گیا تو وہ دولتّیاں جھاڑنے لگا۔ جب وہ حلق تک بھر کر تنومند اور فربہ ہوا تو اُس نے اپنے خدا اور خالق کو رد کیا، اُس نے اپنی نجات کی چٹان کو حقیر جانا۔

But Jeshurun waxed fat, and kicked: thou art waxen fat, thou art grown thick, thou art covered with fatness; then he forsook God which made him, and lightly esteemed the Rock of his salvation.

اپنے اجنبی معبودوں سے اُنہوں نے اُس کی غیرت کو جوش دلایا، اپنے گھنونے بُتوں سے اُسے غصہ دلایا۔

They provoked him to jealousy with strange gods, with abominations provoked they him to anger.

اُنہوں نے بدروحوں کو قربانیاں پیش کیں جو خدا نہیں ہیں، ایسے معبودوں کو جن سے نہ وہ اور نہ اُن کے باپ دادا واقف تھے، کیونکہ وہ تھوڑی دیر پہلے وجود میں آئے تھے۔

They sacrificed unto devils, not to God; to gods whom they knew not, to new gods that came newly up, whom your fathers feared not.

تُو وہ چٹان بھول گیا جس نے تجھے پیدا کیا، وہی خدا جس نے تجھے جنم دیا۔

Of the Rock that begat thee thou art unmindful, and hast forgotten God that formed thee.

رب نے یہ دیکھ کر اُنہیں رد کیا، کیونکہ وہ اپنے بیٹے بیٹیوں سے ناراض تھا۔

And when the LORD saw it, he abhorred them, because of the provoking of his sons, and of his daughters.

اُس نے کہا، ”مَیں اپنا چہرہ اُن سے چھپا لوں گا۔ پھر پتا لگے گا کہ میرے بغیر اُن کا کیا انجام ہوتا ہے۔ کیونکہ وہ سراسر بگڑ گئے ہیں، اُن میں وفاداری پائی نہیں جاتی۔

And he said, I will hide my face from them, I will see what their end shall be: for they are a very froward generation, children in whom is no faith.

اُنہوں نے اُس کی پرستش سے جو خدا نہیں ہے میری غیرت کو جوش دلایا، اپنے بےکار بُتوں سے مجھے غصہ دلایا ہے۔ چنانچہ مَیں خود ہی اُنہیں غیرت دلاؤں گا، ایک ایسی قوم کے ذریعے جو حقیقت میں قوم نہیں ہے۔ ایک نادان قوم کے ذریعے مَیں اُنہیں غصہ دلاؤں گا۔

They have moved me to jealousy with that which is not God; they have provoked me to anger with their vanities: and I will move them to jealousy with those which are not a people; I will provoke them to anger with a foolish nation.

کیونکہ میرے غصے سے آگ بھڑک اُٹھی ہے جو پاتال کی تہہ تک پہنچے گی اور زمین اور اُس کی پیداوار ہڑپ کر کے پہاڑوں کی بنیادوں کو جلا دے گی۔

For a fire is kindled in mine anger, and shall burn unto the lowest hell, and shall consume the earth with her increase, and set on fire the foundations of the mountains.

مَیں اُن پر مصیبت پر مصیبت آنے دوں گا اور اپنے تمام تیر اُن پر چلاؤں گا۔

I will heap mischiefs upon them; I will spend mine arrows upon them.

بھوک کے مارے اُن کی طاقت جاتی رہے گی، اور وہ بخار اور وبائی امراض کا لقمہ بنیں گے۔ مَیں اُن کے خلاف پھاڑنے والے جانور اور زہریلے سانپ بھیج دوں گا۔

They shall be burnt with hunger, and devoured with burning heat, and with bitter destruction: I will also send the teeth of beasts upon them, with the poison of serpents of the dust.

باہر تلوار اُنہیں بےاولاد کر دے گی، اور گھر میں دہشت پھیل جائے گی۔ شیرخوار بچے، نوجوان لڑکے لڑکیاں اور بزرگ سب اُس کی گرفت میں آ جائیں گے۔

The sword without, and terror within, shall destroy both the young man and the virgin, the suckling also with the man of gray hairs.

مجھے کہنا چاہئے تھا کہ مَیں اُنہیں چِکنا چُور کر کے انسانوں میں سے اُن کا نام و نشان مٹا دوں گا۔

I said, I would scatter them into corners, I would make the remembrance of them to cease from among men:

لیکن اندیشہ تھا کہ دشمن غلط مطلب نکال کر کہے، ’ہم خود اُن پر غالب آئے، اِس میں رب کا ہاتھ نہیں ہے‘۔“

Were it not that I feared the wrath of the enemy, lest their adversaries should behave themselves strangely, and lest they should say, Our hand is high, and the LORD hath not done all this.

کیونکہ یہ قوم بےسمجھ اور حکمت سے خالی ہے۔

For they are a nation void of counsel, neither is there any understanding in them.

کاش وہ دانش مند ہو کر یہ بات سمجھیں! کاش وہ جان لیں کہ اُن کا کیا انجام ہے۔

O that they were wise, that they understood this, that they would consider their latter end!

کیونکہ دشمن کا ایک آدمی کس طرح ہزار اسرائیلیوں کا تعاقب کر سکتا ہے؟ اُس کے دو مرد کس طرح دس ہزار اسرائیلیوں کو بھگا سکتے ہیں؟ وجہ صرف یہ ہے کہ اُن کی چٹان نے اُنہیں دشمن کے ہاتھ بیچ دیا۔ رب نے خود اُنہیں دشمن کے قبضے میں کر دیا۔

How should one chase a thousand, and two put ten thousand to flight, except their Rock had sold them, and the LORD had shut them up?

ہمارے دشمن خود مانتے ہیں کہ اسرائیل کی چٹان ہماری چٹان جیسی نہیں ہے۔

For their rock is not as our Rock, even our enemies themselves being judges.

اُن کی بیل تو سدوم کی بیل اور عمورہ کے باغ سے ہے، اُن کے انگور زہریلے اور اُن کے گُچھے کڑوے ہیں۔

For their vine is of the vine of Sodom, and of the fields of Gomorrah: their grapes are grapes of gall, their clusters are bitter:

اُن کی مَے سانپوں کا مہلک زہر ہے۔

Their wine is the poison of dragons, and the cruel venom of asps.

رب فرماتا ہے، ”کیا مَیں نے اِن باتوں پر مُہر لگا کر اُنہیں اپنے خزانے میں محفوظ نہیں رکھا؟

Is not this laid up in store with me, and sealed up among my treasures?

انتقام لینا میرا ہی کام ہے، مَیں ہی بدلہ لوں گا۔ ایک وقت آئے گا کہ اُن کا پاؤں پھسلے گا۔ کیونکہ اُن کی تباہی کا دن قریب ہے، اُن کا انجام جلد ہی آنے والا ہے۔“

To me belongeth vengeance, and recompence; their foot shall slide in due time: for the day of their calamity is at hand, and the things that shall come upon them make haste.

یقیناً رب اپنی قوم کا انصاف کرے گا۔ وہ اپنے خادموں پر ترس کھائے گا جب دیکھے گا کہ اُن کی طاقت جاتی رہی ہے اور کوئی نہیں بچا۔

For the LORD shall judge his people, and repent himself for his servants, when he seeth that their power is gone, and there is none shut up, or left.

اُس وقت وہ پوچھے گا، ”اب اُن کے دیوتا کہاں ہیں، وہ چٹان جس کی پناہ اُنہوں نے لی؟

And he shall say, Where are their gods, their rock in whom they trusted,

وہ دیوتا کہاں ہیں جنہوں نے اُن کے بہترین جانور کھائے اور اُن کی مَے کی نذریں پی لیں۔ وہ تمہاری مدد کے لئے اُٹھیں اور تمہیں پناہ دیں۔

Which did eat the fat of their sacrifices, and drank the wine of their drink offerings? let them rise up and help you, and be your protection.

اب جان لو کہ مَیں اور صرف مَیں خدا ہوں۔ میرے سوا کوئی اَور خدا نہیں ہے۔ مَیں ہی ہلاک کرتا اور مَیں ہی زندہ کر دیتا ہوں۔ مَیں ہی زخمی کرتا اور مَیں ہی شفا دیتا ہوں۔ کوئی میرے ہاتھ سے نہیں بچا سکتا۔

See now that I, even I, am he, and there is no god with me: I kill, and I make alive; I wound, and I heal: neither is there any that can deliver out of my hand.

مَیں اپنا ہاتھ آسمان کی طرف اُٹھا کر اعلان کرتا ہوں کہ میری ابدی حیات کی قَسم،

For I lift up my hand to heaven, and say, I live for ever.

جب مَیں اپنی چمکتی ہوئی تلوار کو تیز کر کے عدالت کے لئے پکڑ لوں گا تو اپنے مخالفوں سے انتقام اور اپنے نفرت کرنے والوں سے بدلہ لوں گا۔

If I whet my glittering sword, and mine hand take hold on judgment; I will render vengeance to mine enemies, and will reward them that hate me.

میرے تیر خون پی پی کر نشے میں دُھت ہو جائیں گے، میری تلوار مقتولوں اور قیدیوں کے خون اور دشمن کے سرداروں کے سروں سے سیر ہو جائے گی۔“

I will make mine arrows drunk with blood, and my sword shall devour flesh; and that with the blood of the slain and of the captives, from the beginning of revenges upon the enemy.

اے دیگر قومو، اُس کی اُمّت کے ساتھ خوشی مناؤ! کیونکہ وہ اپنے خادموں کے خون کا انتقام لے گا۔ وہ اپنے مخالفوں سے بدلہ لے کر اپنے ملک اور قوم کا کفارہ دے گا۔

Rejoice, O ye nations, with his people: for he will avenge the blood of his servants, and will render vengeance to his adversaries, and will be merciful unto his land, and to his people.

موسیٰ اور یشوع بن نون نے آ کر اسرائیلیوں کو یہ پورا گیت سنایا۔

And Moses came and spake all the words of this song in the ears of the people, he, and Hoshea the son of Nun.

پھر موسیٰ نے اُن سے کہا، ”آج مَیں نے تمہیں اِن تمام باتوں سے آگاہ کیا ہے۔ لازم ہے کہ وہ تمہارے دلوں میں بیٹھ جائیں۔ اپنی اولاد کو بھی حکم دو کہ احتیاط سے اِس شریعت کی تمام باتوں پر عمل کرے۔

And Moses made an end of speaking all these words to all Israel:

پھر موسیٰ نے اُن سے کہا، ”آج مَیں نے تمہیں اِن تمام باتوں سے آگاہ کیا ہے۔ لازم ہے کہ وہ تمہارے دلوں میں بیٹھ جائیں۔ اپنی اولاد کو بھی حکم دو کہ احتیاط سے اِس شریعت کی تمام باتوں پر عمل کرے۔

And he said unto them, Set your hearts unto all the words which I testify among you this day, which ye shall command your children to observe to do, all the words of this law.

یہ خالی باتیں نہیں بلکہ تمہاری زندگی کا سرچشمہ ہیں۔ اِن کے مطابق چلنے کے باعث تم دیر تک اُس ملک میں جیتے رہو گے جس پر تم دریائے یردن کو پار کر کے قبضہ کرنے والے ہو۔“

For it is not a vain thing for you; because it is your life: and through this thing ye shall prolong your days in the land, whither ye go over Jordan to possess it.

اُسی دن رب نے موسیٰ سے کہا،

And the LORD spake unto Moses that selfsame day, saying,

”پہاڑی سلسلے عباریم کے پہاڑ نبو پر چڑھ جا جو یریحو کے سامنے لیکن یردن کے مشرقی کنارے پر یعنی موآب کے ملک میں ہے۔ وہاں سے کنعان پر نظر ڈال، اُس ملک پر جو مَیں اسرائیلیوں کو دے رہا ہوں۔

Get thee up into this mountain Abarim, unto mount Nebo, which is in the land of Moab, that is over against Jericho; and behold the land of Canaan, which I give unto the children of Israel for a possession:

اِس کے بعد تُو وہاں مر کر اپنے باپ دادا سے جا ملے گا، بالکل اُسی طرح جس طرح تیرا بھائی ہارون ہور پہاڑ پر مر کر اپنے باپ دادا سے جا ملا ہے۔

And die in the mount whither thou goest up, and be gathered unto thy people; as Aaron thy brother died in mount Hor, and was gathered unto his people:

کیونکہ تم دونوں اسرائیلیوں کے رُوبرُو بےوفا ہوئے۔ جب تم دشتِ صین میں قادس کے قریب تھے اور مریبہ کے چشمے پر اسرائیلیوں کے سامنے کھڑے تھے تو تم نے میری قدوسیت قائم نہ رکھی۔

Because ye trespassed against me among the children of Israel at the waters of Meribah–Kadesh, in the wilderness of Zin; because ye sanctified me not in the midst of the children of Israel.

اِس سبب سے تُو وہ ملک صرف دُور سے دیکھے گا جو مَیں اسرائیلیوں کو دے رہا ہوں۔ تُو خود اُس میں داخل نہیں ہو گا۔“

Yet thou shalt see the land before thee; but thou shalt not go thither unto the land which I give the children of Israel.
