Proverbs 13

Bilge kişi terbiye edilmeyi sever, Alaycı kişi azarlansa da aldırmaz.

A wise son heareth his father's instruction: but a scorner heareth not rebuke.

İyi insan ağzından çıkan sözler için ödüllendirilir, Ama hainlerin soluduğu zorbalıktır.

A man shall eat good by the fruit of his mouth: but the soul of the transgressors shall eat violence.

Dilini tutan canını korur, Ama boşboğazın sonu yıkımdır.

He that keepeth his mouth keepeth his life: but he that openeth wide his lips shall have destruction.

Tembel canının çektiğini elde edemez, Çalışkanın istekleriyse tümüyle yerine gelir.

The soul of the sluggard desireth, and hath nothing: but the soul of the diligent shall be made fat.

Doğru kişi yalandan nefret eder, Kötünün sözleriyse iğrençtir, yüzkarasıdır.

A righteous man hateth lying: but a wicked man is loathsome, and cometh to shame.

Doğruluk dürüst yaşayanı korur, Kötülük günahkârı yıkar.

Righteousness keepeth him that is upright in the way: but wickedness overthroweth the sinner.

Kimi hiçbir şeyi yokken kendini zengin gösterir, Kimi serveti çokken kendini yoksul gösterir.

There is that maketh himself rich, yet hath nothing: there is that maketh himself poor, yet hath great riches.

Kişinin serveti gün gelir canına fidye olur, Oysa yoksul kişi tehdide aldırmaz.

The ransom of a man's life are his riches: but the poor heareth not rebuke.

Doğruların ışığı parlak yanar, Kötülerin çırası söner.

The light of the righteous rejoiceth: but the lamp of the wicked shall be put out.

Kibirden ancak kavga çıkar, Öğüt dinleyense bilgedir.

Only by pride cometh contention: but with the well advised is wisdom.

Havadan kazanılan para yok olur, Azar azar biriktirenin serveti çok olur.

Wealth gotten by vanity shall be diminished: but he that gathereth by labour shall increase.

Ertelenen umut hayal kırıklığına uğratır, Yerine gelen dilekse yaşam verir.

Hope deferred maketh the heart sick: but when the desire cometh, it is a tree of life.

Uyarılara kulak asmayan bedelini öder, Buyruklara saygılı olansa ödülünü alır.

Whoso despiseth the word shall be destroyed: but he that feareth the commandment shall be rewarded.

Bilgelerin öğrettikleri yaşam kaynağıdır, İnsanı ölüm tuzaklarından uzaklaştırır.

The law of the wise is a fountain of life, to depart from the snares of death.

Sağduyulu davranış saygınlık kazandırır, Hainlerin yoluysa yıkıma götürür.

Good understanding giveth favour: but the way of transgressors is hard.

İhtiyatlı kişi işini bilerek yapar, Akılsız kişiyse ahmaklığını sergiler.

Every prudent man dealeth with knowledge: but a fool layeth open his folly.

Kötü ulak belaya düşer, Güvenilir elçiyse şifa getirir.

A wicked messenger falleth into mischief: but a faithful ambassador is health.

Terbiye edilmeye yanaşmayanı Yokluk ve utanç bekliyor, Ama azara kulak veren onurlandırılır.

Poverty and shame shall be to him that refuseth instruction: but he that regardeth reproof shall be honoured.

Yerine getirilen dilek mutluluk verir. Akılsız kötülükten uzak kalamaz.

The desire accomplished is sweet to the soul: but it is abomination to fools to depart from evil.

Bilgelerle oturup kalkan bilge olur, Akılsızlarla dost olansa zarar görür.

He that walketh with wise men shall be wise: but a companion of fools shall be destroyed.

Günahkârın peşini felaket bırakmaz, Doğruların ödülüyse gönençtir.

Evil pursueth sinners: but to the righteous good shall be repayed.

İyi kişi torunlarına miras bırakır, Günahkârın servetiyse doğru kişiye kalır.

A good man leaveth an inheritance to his children's children: and the wealth of the sinner is laid up for the just.

Yoksulun tarlası bol ürün verebilir, Ama haksızlık bunu alıp götürür.

Much food is in the tillage of the poor: but there is that is destroyed for want of judgment.

Oğlundan değneği esirgeyen, onu sevmiyor demektir. Seven baba özenle terbiye eder.

He that spareth his rod hateth his son: but he that loveth him chasteneth him betimes.

Doğru kişinin yeterince yiyeceği vardır, Kötünün karnıysa aç kalır.

The righteous eateth to the satisfying of his soul: but the belly of the wicked shall want.
