Proverbs 2

My son, if thou wilt receive my words, and hide my commandments with thee;

Filho meu, se aceitares as minhas palavras, e entesourares contigo os meus mandamentos,

So that thou incline thine ear unto wisdom, and apply thine heart to understanding;

para fazeres atento à sabedoria o teu ouvido, e para inclinares o teu coração ao entendimento;

Yea, if thou criest after knowledge, and liftest up thy voice for understanding;

sim, se clamares por discernimento, e por entendimento alçares a tua voz;

If thou seekest her as silver, and searchest for her as for hid treasures;

se o buscares como a prata e o procurares como a tesouros escondidos;

Then shalt thou understand the fear of the LORD, and find the knowledge of God.

então entenderás o temor do Senhor, e acharás o conhecimento de Deus.

For the LORD giveth wisdom: out of his mouth cometh knowledge and understanding.

Porque o Senhor dá a sabedoria; da sua boca procedem o conhecimento e o entendimento;

He layeth up sound wisdom for the righteous: he is a buckler to them that walk uprightly.

ele reserva a verdadeira sabedoria para os retos; e escudo para os que caminham em integridade,

He keepeth the paths of judgment, and preserveth the way of his saints.

guardando-lhes as veredas da justiça, e preservando o caminho dos seus santos.

Then shalt thou understand righteousness, and judgment, and equity; yea, every good path.

Então entenderás a retidão, a justiça, a equidade, e todas as boas veredas.

When wisdom entereth into thine heart, and knowledge is pleasant unto thy soul;

Pois a sabedoria entrará no teu coração, e o conhecimento será aprazível à tua alma;

Discretion shall preserve thee, understanding shall keep thee:

o bom siso te protegerá, e o discernimento e guardará;

To deliver thee from the way of the evil man, from the man that speaketh froward things;

para te livrar do mau caminho, e do homem que diz coisas perversas;

Who leave the paths of uprightness, to walk in the ways of darkness;

dos que deixam as veredas da retidão, para andarem pelos caminhos das trevas;

Who rejoice to do evil, and delight in the frowardness of the wicked;

que se alegram de fazer o mal, e se deleitam nas perversidades dos maus;

Whose ways are crooked, and they froward in their paths:

dos que são tortuosos nas suas veredas; e iníquos nas suas carreiras;

To deliver thee from the strange woman, even from the stranger which flattereth with her words;

e para te livrar da mulher estranha, da estrangeira que lisonjeia com suas palavras;

Which forsaketh the guide of her youth, and forgetteth the covenant of her God.

a qual abandona o companheiro da sua mocidade e se esquece do concerto do seu Deus;

For her house inclineth unto death, and her paths unto the dead.

pois a sua casa se inclina para a morte, e as suas veredas para as sombras.

None that go unto her return again, neither take they hold of the paths of life.

Nenhum dos que se dirigirem a ela, tornara a sair, nem retomará as veredas da vida.

That thou mayest walk in the way of good men, and keep the paths of the righteous.

Assim andarás pelo caminho dos bons, e guardarás as veredas dos justos.

For the upright shall dwell in the land, and the perfect shall remain in it.

Porque os retos habitarão a terra, e os íntegros permanecerão nela.

But the wicked shall be cut off from the earth, and the transgressors shall be rooted out of it.

Mas os ímpios serão exterminados da terra, e dela os aleivosos serão desarraigados.
