Proverbs 2

2:1

My son, if thou wilt receive my words, and hide my commandments with thee;

Fiam! ha beveszed az én beszédimet, és az én parancsolatimat elrejted magadnál,

2:2

So that thou incline thine ear unto wisdom, and apply thine heart to understanding;

Ha figyelmeztetvén a bölcsességre a te füleidet, hajtod a te elmédet az értelemre,

2:3

Yea, if thou criest after knowledge, and liftest up thy voice for understanding;

Igen, ha a bölcseségért kiáltasz, és az értelemért a te szódat felemeled,

2:4

If thou seekest her as silver, and searchest for her as for hid treasures;

Ha keresed azt, mint az ezüstöt, és mint a kincseket kutatod azt:

2:5

Then shalt thou understand the fear of the LORD, and find the knowledge of God.

Akkor megérted az Úrnak félelmét, és az Istennek ismeretére jutsz.

2:6

For the LORD giveth wisdom: out of his mouth cometh knowledge and understanding.

Mert az Úr ád bölcseséget, az ő szájából tudomány és értelem *származik.*

2:7

He layeth up sound wisdom for the righteous: he is a buckler to them that walk uprightly.

Az igazaknak valóságos jót rejteget, paizst a tökéletesen járóknak,

2:8

He keepeth the paths of judgment, and preserveth the way of his saints.

Hogy megőrizze az igazságnak útait, és kegyeseinek útját megtartja.

2:9

Then shalt thou understand righteousness, and judgment, and equity; yea, every good path.

Akkor megérted az igazságot, és törvényt és becsületességet, és minden jó útat.

2:10

When wisdom entereth into thine heart, and knowledge is pleasant unto thy soul;

Mert bölcseség megy a te elmédbe, és a tudomány a te lelkedben gyönyörűséges lesz.

2:11

Discretion shall preserve thee, understanding shall keep thee:

Meggondolás őrködik feletted, értelem őriz téged,

2:12

To deliver thee from the way of the evil man, from the man that speaketh froward things;

Hogy megszabadítson téged a gonosznak útától, és a gonoszságszóló férfiútól;

2:13

Who leave the paths of uprightness, to walk in the ways of darkness;

A kik elhagyják az igazságnak útát, hogy járjanak a setétségnek útain.

2:14

Who rejoice to do evil, and delight in the frowardness of the wicked;

A kik örülnek gonoszt cselekedvén, vígadnak a gonosz álnokságokon.

2:15

Whose ways are crooked, and they froward in their paths:

A kiknek ösvényeik görbék, és a kik az ő útaikban gonoszok.

2:16

To deliver thee from the strange woman, even from the stranger which flattereth with her words;

Hogy megszabadítson téged a nem hozzád tartozó asszonytól, az idegentől, a ki az ő beszédével hizelkedik,

2:17

Which forsaketh the guide of her youth, and forgetteth the covenant of her God.

A ki elhagyja az ő ifjúságának férjét, és az ő Istenének szövetségéről elfelejtkezik;

2:18

For her house inclineth unto death, and her paths unto the dead.

Mert a halálra hanyatlik az ő háza, és az ő ösvényei az élet nélkül valókhoz.

2:19

None that go unto her return again, neither take they hold of the paths of life.

Valakik mennek ahhoz, nem térnek meg, sem meg nem nyerhetik az életnek útait.

2:20

That thou mayest walk in the way of good men, and keep the paths of the righteous.

Hogy járj a jóknak útjokon, és az igazaknak ösvényeit kövessed.

2:21

For the upright shall dwell in the land, and the perfect shall remain in it.

Mert az igazak lakják a földet, és a tökéletesek maradnak meg rajta.

2:22

But the wicked shall be cut off from the earth, and the transgressors shall be rooted out of it.

A gonoszok pedig a földről kivágattatnak, és a hitetlenül cselekedők kiszaggattatnak abból.
