Proverbs 25

These are also proverbs of Solomon, which the men of Hezekiah king of Judah copied out.

И това също са притчи на Соломон, които събраха мъжете на юдовия цар Езекия.

It is the glory of God to conceal a thing: but the honour of kings is to search out a matter.

Слава на Бога е да облича нещо в тайна, а слава на царете е да издирват нещо.

The heaven for height, and the earth for depth, and the heart of kings is unsearchable.

Височината на небето и дълбочината на земята, и сърцето на царете са неизследими.

Take away the dross from the silver, and there shall come forth a vessel for the finer.

Отдели примеса от среброто, и ще излезе произведение за златаря.

Take away the wicked from before the king, and his throne shall be established in righteousness.

Отдели безбожния от царя, и престолът му в правда ще се утвърди.

Put not forth thyself in the presence of the king, and stand not in the place of great men:

Не се превъзнасяй пред царя и не стой на мястото на големците,

For better it is that it be said unto thee, Come up hither; than that thou shouldest be put lower in the presence of the prince whom thine eyes have seen.

защото по-добре да ти кажат: Ела тук горе! — отколкото да те понижат в присъствието на началника, когото очите ти са видели.

Go not forth hastily to strive, lest thou know not what to do in the end thereof, when thy neighbour hath put thee to shame.

Не прибързвай да отидеш на съд, да не би накрая да не знаеш какво да правиш, когато ближният ти те засрами.

Debate thy cause with thy neighbour himself; and discover not a secret to another:

Защитавай своето дело пред ближния си, но не откривай чужди тайни,

Lest he that heareth it put thee to shame, and thine infamy turn not away.

да не би който те слуша да те укори, и лошото ти име да не отбегне от теб.

A word fitly spoken is like apples of gold in pictures of silver.

Както златни ябълки в сребърни съдове, така е дума, казана на място.

As an earring of gold, and an ornament of fine gold, so is a wise reprover upon an obedient ear.

Както златна обица и украшение от чисто злато, така е мъдър изобличител за слушащо ухо.

As the cold of snow in the time of harvest, so is a faithful messenger to them that send him: for he refresheth the soul of his masters.

Както прохладата на снега във време на жетва, така е верен посланик за онези, които го изпращат — освежава душата на господаря си.

Whoso boasteth himself of a false gift is like clouds and wind without rain.

Както облаци и вятър без дъжд, така е, който се хвали с лъжлив подарък.

By long forbearing is a prince persuaded, and a soft tongue breaketh the bone.

С дълготърпение се склонява управител и мек език троши кости.

Hast thou found honey? eat so much as is sufficient for thee, lest thou be filled therewith, and vomit it.

Намерил ли си мед? Яж само колкото ти е нужно, да не би да се преситиш от него и да го повърнеш.

Withdraw thy foot from thy neighbour's house; lest he be weary of thee, and so hate thee.

Рядко слагай крака си в къщата на ближния си, да не би да му досадиш и да те намрази.

A man that beareth false witness against his neighbour is a maul, and a sword, and a sharp arrow.

Както боздуган, меч и остра стрела, така е човек, който свидетелства лъжливо против ближния си.

Confidence in an unfaithful man in time of trouble is like a broken tooth, and a foot out of joint.

Както болен зъб и изкълчен крак, така е доверие към неверен човек във време на беда.

As he that taketh away a garment in cold weather, and as vinegar upon nitre, so is he that singeth songs to an heavy heart.

Както събличане на дреха в студено време, както оцет на сода, така е и онзи, който пее песни на наскърбено сърце.

If thine enemy be hungry, give him bread to eat; and if he be thirsty, give him water to drink:

Ако този, който те мрази, е гладен, дай му хляб да яде и ако е жаден, дай му вода да пие,

For thou shalt heap coals of fire upon his head, and the LORD shall reward thee.

защото така ще натрупаш жар на главата му и ГОСПОД ще те възнагради.

The north wind driveth away rain: so doth an angry countenance a backbiting tongue.

Северният вятър донася дъжд, а тайно злословещият език — разгневени лица.

It is better to dwell in the corner of the housetop, than with a brawling woman and in a wide house.

По-добре да живееш в ъгъл на тавана, отколкото в къща, споделена със свадлива жена.

As cold waters to a thirsty soul, so is good news from a far country.

Както студена вода за жадна душа, така е и добра вест от далечна земя.

A righteous man falling down before the wicked is as a troubled fountain, and a corrupt spring.

Както мътен извор и замърсен кладенец, така е праведният, който се поклаща пред безбожния.

It is not good to eat much honey: so for men to search their own glory is not glory.

Не е добре да се яде много мед и думи на почит използувай пестеливо.

He that hath no rule over his own spirit is like a city that is broken down, and without walls.

Както съборен град без стена, така е мъж, който не владее духа си.
