John 12

فسح کی عید میں ابھی چھ دن باقی تھے کہ عیسیٰ بیت عنیاہ پہنچا۔ یہ وہ جگہ تھی جہاں اُس لعزر کا گھر تھا جسے عیسیٰ نے مُردوں میں سے زندہ کیا تھا۔

Then Jesus six days before the passover came to Bethany, where Lazarus was which had been dead, whom he raised from the dead.

وہاں اُس کے لئے ایک خاص کھانا بنایا گیا۔ مرتھا کھانے والوں کی خدمت کر رہی تھی جبکہ لعزر عیسیٰ اور باقی مہمانوں کے ساتھ کھانے میں شریک تھا۔

There they made him a supper; and Martha served: but Lazarus was one of them that sat at the table with him.

پھر مریم نے آدھا لٹر خالص جٹاماسی کا نہایت قیمتی عطر لے کر عیسیٰ کے پاؤں پر اُنڈیل دیا اور اُنہیں اپنے بالوں سے پونچھ کر خشک کیا۔ خوشبو پورے گھر میں پھیل گئی۔

Then took Mary a pound of ointment of spikenard, very costly, and anointed the feet of Jesus, and wiped his feet with her hair: and the house was filled with the odour of the ointment.

لیکن عیسیٰ کے شاگرد یہوداہ اسکریوتی نے اعتراض کیا (بعد میں اُسی نے عیسیٰ کو دشمن کے حوالے کر دیا)۔ اُس نے کہا،

Then saith one of his disciples, Judas Iscariot, Simon's son, which should betray him,

”اِس عطر کی قیمت چاندی کے 300 سِکے تھی۔ اِسے کیوں نہیں بیچا گیا تاکہ اِس کے پیسے غریبوں کو دیئے جاتے؟“

Why was not this ointment sold for three hundred pence, and given to the poor?

اُس نے یہ بات اِس لئے نہیں کی کہ اُسے غریبوں کی فکر تھی۔ اصل میں وہ چور تھا۔ وہ شاگردوں کا خزانچی تھا اور جمع شدہ پیسوں میں سے بددیانتی کرتا رہتا تھا۔

This he said, not that he cared for the poor; but because he was a thief, and had the bag, and bare what was put therein.

لیکن عیسیٰ نے کہا، ”اُسے چھوڑ دے! اُس نے میری تدفین کی تیاری کے لئے یہ کیا ہے۔

Then said Jesus, Let her alone: against the day of my burying hath she kept this.

غریب تو ہمیشہ تمہارے پاس رہیں گے، لیکن مَیں ہمیشہ تمہارے پاس نہیں رہوں گا۔“

For the poor always ye have with you; but me ye have not always.

اِتنے میں یہودیوں کی بڑی تعداد کو معلوم ہوا کہ عیسیٰ وہاں ہے۔ وہ نہ صرف عیسیٰ سے ملنے کے لئے آئے بلکہ لعزر سے بھی جسے اُس نے مُردوں میں سے زندہ کیا تھا۔

Much people of the Jews therefore knew that he was there: and they came not for Jesus' sake only, but that they might see Lazarus also, whom he had raised from the dead.

اِس لئے راہنما اماموں نے لعزر کو بھی قتل کرنے کا منصوبہ بنایا۔

But the chief priests consulted that they might put Lazarus also to death;

کیونکہ اُس کی وجہ سے بہت سے یہودی اُن میں سے چلے گئے اور عیسیٰ پر ایمان لے آئے تھے۔

Because that by reason of him many of the Jews went away, and believed on Jesus.

اگلے دن عید کے لئے آئے ہوئے لوگوں کو پتا چلا کہ عیسیٰ یروشلم آ رہا ہے۔ ایک بڑا ہجوم

On the next day much people that were come to the feast, when they heard that Jesus was coming to Jerusalem,

کھجور کی ڈالیاں پکڑے شہر سے نکل کر اُس سے ملنے آیا۔ چلتے چلتے وہ چلّا کر نعرے لگا رہے تھے، ”ہوشعنا! مبارک ہے وہ جو رب کے نام سے آتا ہے! اسرائیل کا بادشاہ مبارک ہے!“

Took branches of palm trees, and went forth to meet him, and cried, Hosanna: Blessed is the King of Israel that cometh in the name of the Lord.

عیسیٰ کو کہیں سے ایک جوان گدھا مل گیا اور وہ اُس پر بیٹھ گیا، جس طرح کلامِ مُقدّس میں لکھا ہے،

And Jesus, when he had found a young ass, sat thereon; as it is written,

”اے صیون بیٹی، مت ڈر! دیکھ، تیرا بادشاہ گدھے کے بچے پر سوار آ رہا ہے۔“

Fear not, daughter of Sion: behold, thy King cometh, sitting on an ass's colt.

اُس وقت اُس کے شاگردوں کو اِس بات کی سمجھ نہ آئی۔ لیکن بعد میں جب عیسیٰ اپنے جلال کو پہنچا تو اُنہیں یاد آیا کہ لوگوں نے اُس کے ساتھ یہ کچھ کیا تھا اور وہ سمجھ گئے کہ کلامِ مُقدّس میں اِس کا ذکر بھی ہے۔

These things understood not his disciples at the first: but when Jesus was glorified, then remembered they that these things were written of him, and that they had done these things unto him.

جو ہجوم اُس وقت عیسیٰ کے ساتھ تھا جب اُس نے لعزر کو مُردوں میں سے زندہ کیا تھا، وہ دوسروں کو اِس کے بارے میں بتاتا رہا تھا۔

The people therefore that was with him when he called Lazarus out of his grave, and raised him from the dead, bare record.

اِسی وجہ سے اِتنے لوگ عیسیٰ سے ملنے کے لئے آئے تھے، اُنہوں نے اُس کے اِس الٰہی نشان کے بارے میں سنا تھا۔

For this cause the people also met him, for that they heard that he had done this miracle.

یہ دیکھ کر فریسی آپس میں کہنے لگے، ”آپ دیکھ رہے ہیں کہ بات نہیں بن رہی۔ دیکھو، تمام دنیا اُس کے پیچھے ہو لی ہے۔“

The Pharisees therefore said among themselves, Perceive ye how ye prevail nothing? behold, the world is gone after him.

کچھ یونانی بھی اُن میں تھے جو فسح کی عید کے موقع پر پرستش کرنے کے لئے آئے ہوئے تھے۔

And there were certain Greeks among them that came up to worship at the feast:

اب وہ فلپّس سے ملنے آئے جو گلیل کے بیت صیدا سے تھا۔ اُنہوں نے کہا، ”جناب، ہم عیسیٰ سے ملنا چاہتے ہیں۔“

The same came therefore to Philip, which was of Bethsaida of Galilee, and desired him, saying, Sir, we would see Jesus.

فلپّس نے اندریاس کو یہ بات بتائی اور پھر وہ مل کر عیسیٰ کے پاس گئے اور اُسے یہ خبر پہنچائی۔

Philip cometh and telleth Andrew: and again Andrew and Philip tell Jesus.

لیکن عیسیٰ نے جواب دیا، ”اب وقت آ گیا ہے کہ ابنِ آدم کو جلال ملے۔

And Jesus answered them, saying, The hour is come, that the Son of man should be glorified.

مَیں تم کو سچ بتاتا ہوں کہ جب تک گندم کا دانہ زمین میں گر کر مر نہ جائے وہ اکیلا ہی رہتا ہے۔ لیکن جب وہ مر جاتا ہے تو بہت سا پھل لاتا ہے۔

Verily, verily, I say unto you, Except a corn of wheat fall into the ground and die, it abideth alone: but if it die, it bringeth forth much fruit.

جو اپنی جان کو پیار کرتا ہے وہ اُسے کھو دے گا، اور جو اِس دنیا میں اپنی جان سے دشمنی رکھتا ہے وہ اُسے ابد تک محفوظ رکھے گا۔

He that loveth his life shall lose it; and he that hateth his life in this world shall keep it unto life eternal.

اگر کوئی میری خدمت کرنا چاہے تو وہ میرے پیچھے ہو لے، کیونکہ جہاں مَیں ہوں وہاں میرا خادم بھی ہو گا۔ اور جو میری خدمت کرے میرا باپ اُس کی عزت کرے گا۔

If any man serve me, let him follow me; and where I am, there shall also my servant be: if any man serve me, him will my Father honour.

اب میرا دل مضطرب ہے۔ مَیں کیا کہوں؟ کیا مَیں کہوں، ’اے باپ، مجھے اِس وقت سے بچائے رکھ‘؟ نہیں، مَیں تو اِسی لئے آیا ہوں۔

Now is my soul troubled; and what shall I say? Father, save me from this hour: but for this cause came I unto this hour.

اے باپ، اپنے نام کو جلال دے۔“ تب آسمان سے ایک آواز سنائی دی، ”مَیں اُسے جلال دے چکا ہوں اور دوبارہ بھی جلال دوں گا۔“

Father, glorify thy name. Then came there a voice from heaven, saying, I have both glorified it, and will glorify it again.

ہجوم کے جو لوگ وہاں کھڑے تھے اُنہوں نے یہ سن کر کہا، ”بادل گرج رہے ہیں۔“ اَوروں نے خیال پیش کیا، ”کوئی فرشتہ اُس سے ہم کلام ہوا ہے۔“

The people therefore, that stood by, and heard it, said that it thundered: others said, An angel spake to him.

عیسیٰ نے اُنہیں بتایا، ”یہ آواز میرے واسطے نہیں بلکہ تمہارے واسطے تھی۔

Jesus answered and said, This voice came not because of me, but for your sakes.

اب دنیا کی عدالت کرنے کا وقت آ گیا ہے، اب دنیا کے حکمران کو نکال دیا جائے گا۔

Now is the judgment of this world: now shall the prince of this world be cast out.

اور مَیں خود زمین سے اونچے پر چڑھائے جانے کے بعد سب کو اپنے پاس کھینچ لوں گا۔“

And I, if I be lifted up from the earth, will draw all men unto me.

اِن الفاظ سے اُس نے اِس طرف اشارہ کیا کہ وہ کس طرح کی موت مرے گا۔

This he said, signifying what death he should die.

ہجوم بول اُٹھا، ”کلامِ مُقدّس سے ہم نے سنا ہے کہ مسیح ابد تک قائم رہے گا۔ تو پھر آپ کی یہ کیسی بات ہے کہ ابنِ آدم کو اونچے پر چڑھایا جانا ہے؟ آخر ابنِ آدم ہے کون؟“

The people answered him, We have heard out of the law that Christ abideth for ever: and how sayest thou, The Son of man must be lifted up? who is this Son of man?

عیسیٰ نے جواب دیا، ”نور تھوڑی دیر اَور تمہارے پاس رہے گا۔ جتنی دیر وہ موجود ہے اِس نور میں چلتے رہو تاکہ تاریکی تم پر چھا نہ جائے۔ جو اندھیرے میں چلتا ہے اُسے نہیں معلوم کہ وہ کہاں جا رہا ہے۔

Then Jesus said unto them, Yet a little while is the light with you. Walk while ye have the light, lest darkness come upon you: for he that walketh in darkness knoweth not whither he goeth.

نور کے تمہارے پاس سے چلے جانے سے پہلے پہلے اُس پر ایمان لاؤ تاکہ تم نور کے فرزند بن جاؤ۔“ یہ کہنے کے بعد عیسیٰ چلا گیا اور غائب ہو گیا۔

While ye have light, believe in the light, that ye may be the children of light. These things spake Jesus, and departed, and did hide himself from them.

اگرچہ عیسیٰ نے یہ تمام الٰہی نشان اُن کے سامنے ہی دکھائے توبھی وہ اُس پر ایمان نہ لائے۔

But though he had done so many miracles before them, yet they believed not on him:

یوں یسعیاہ نبی کی پیش گوئی پوری ہوئی، ”اے رب، کون ہمارے پیغام پر ایمان لایا؟ اور رب کی قدرت کس پر ظاہر ہوئی؟“

That the saying of Esaias the prophet might be fulfilled, which he spake, Lord, who hath believed our report? and to whom hath the arm of the Lord been revealed?

چنانچہ وہ ایمان نہ لا سکے، جس طرح یسعیاہ نبی نے کہیں اَور فرمایا ہے،

Therefore they could not believe, because that Esaias said again,

”اللہ نے اُن کی آنکھوں کو اندھا اور اُن کے دل کو بےحس کر دیا ہے، ایسا نہ ہو کہ وہ اپنی آنکھوں سے دیکھیں، اپنے دل سے سمجھیں، میری طرف رجوع کریں اور مَیں اُنہیں شفا دوں۔“

He hath blinded their eyes, and hardened their heart; that they should not see with their eyes, nor understand with their heart, and be converted, and I should heal them.

یسعیاہ نے یہ اِس لئے فرمایا کیونکہ اُس نے عیسیٰ کا جلال دیکھ کر اُس کے بارے میں بات کی۔

These things said Esaias, when he saw his glory, and spake of him.

توبھی بہت سے لوگ عیسیٰ پر ایمان رکھتے تھے۔ اُن میں کچھ راہنما بھی شامل تھے۔ لیکن وہ اِس کا علانیہ اقرار نہیں کرتے تھے، کیونکہ وہ ڈرتے تھے کہ فریسی ہمیں یہودی جماعت سے خارج کر دیں گے۔

Nevertheless among the chief rulers also many believed on him; but because of the Pharisees they did not confess him, lest they should be put out of the synagogue:

اصل میں وہ اللہ کی عزت کی نسبت انسان کی عزت کو زیادہ عزیز رکھتے تھے۔

For they loved the praise of men more than the praise of God.

پھر عیسیٰ پکار اُٹھا، ”جو مجھ پر ایمان رکھتا ہے وہ نہ صرف مجھ پر بلکہ اُس پر ایمان رکھتا ہے جس نے مجھے بھیجا ہے۔

Jesus cried and said, He that believeth on me, believeth not on me, but on him that sent me.

اور جو مجھے دیکھتا ہے وہ اُسے دیکھتا ہے جس نے مجھے بھیجا ہے۔

And he that seeth me seeth him that sent me.

مَیں نور کی حیثیت سے اِس دنیا میں آیا ہوں تاکہ جو بھی مجھ پر ایمان لائے وہ تاریکی میں نہ رہے۔

I am come a light into the world, that whosoever believeth on me should not abide in darkness.

جو میری باتیں سن کر اُن پر عمل نہیں کرتا مَیں اُس کی عدالت نہیں کروں گا، کیونکہ مَیں دنیا کی عدالت کرنے کے لئے نہیں آیا بلکہ اُسے نجات دینے کے لئے۔

And if any man hear my words, and believe not, I judge him not: for I came not to judge the world, but to save the world.

توبھی ایک ہے جو اُس کی عدالت کرتا ہے۔ جو مجھے رد کر کے میری باتیں قبول نہیں کرتا میرا پیش کیا گیا کلام ہی قیامت کے دن اُس کی عدالت کرے گا۔

He that rejecteth me, and receiveth not my words, hath one that judgeth him: the word that I have spoken, the same shall judge him in the last day.

کیونکہ جو کچھ مَیں نے بیان کیا ہے وہ میری طرف سے نہیں ہے۔ میرے بھیجنے والے باپ ہی نے مجھے حکم دیا کہ کیا کہنا اور کیا سنانا ہے۔

For I have not spoken of myself; but the Father which sent me, he gave me a commandment, what I should say, and what I should speak.

اور مَیں جانتا ہوں کہ اُس کا حکم ابدی زندگی تک پہنچاتا ہے۔ چنانچہ جو کچھ مَیں سناتا ہوں وہی کچھ ہے جو باپ نے مجھے بتایا ہے۔“

And I know that his commandment is life everlasting: whatsoever I speak therefore, even as the Father said unto me, so I speak.
