Luke 9

اِس کے بعد عیسیٰ نے اپنے بارہ شاگردوں کو اکٹھا کر کے اُنہیں بدروحوں کو نکالنے اور مریضوں کو شفا دینے کی قوت اور اختیار دیا۔

Then he called his twelve disciples together, and gave them power and authority over all devils, and to cure diseases.

پھر اُس نے اُنہیں اللہ کی بادشاہی کی منادی کرنے اور شفا دینے کے لئے بھیج دیا۔

And he sent them to preach the kingdom of God, and to heal the sick.

اُس نے کہا، ”سفر پر کچھ ساتھ نہ لینا۔ نہ لاٹھی، نہ سامان کے لئے بیگ، نہ روٹی، نہ پیسے اور نہ ایک سے زیادہ سوٹ۔

And he said unto them, Take nothing for your journey, neither staves, nor scrip, neither bread, neither money; neither have two coats apiece.

جس گھر میں بھی تم جاتے ہو اُس میں اُس مقام سے چلے جانے تک ٹھہرو۔

And whatsoever house ye enter into, there abide, and thence depart.

اور اگر مقامی لوگ تم کو قبول نہ کریں تو پھر اُس شہر سے نکلتے وقت اُس کی گرد اپنے پاؤں سے جھاڑ دو۔ یوں تم اُن کے خلاف گواہی دو گے۔“

And whosoever will not receive you, when ye go out of that city, shake off the very dust from your feet for a testimony against them.

چنانچہ وہ نکل کر گاؤں گاؤں جا کر اللہ کی خوش خبری سنانے اور مریضوں کو شفا دینے لگے۔

And they departed, and went through the towns, preaching the gospel, and healing every where.

جب گلیل کے حکمران ہیرودیس انتپاس نے سب کچھ سنا جو عیسیٰ کر رہا تھا تو وہ اُلجھن میں پڑ گیا۔ بعض تو کہہ رہے تھے کہ یحییٰ بپتسمہ دینے والا جی اُٹھا ہے۔

Now Herod the tetrarch heard of all that was done by him: and he was perplexed, because that it was said of some, that John was risen from the dead;

اَوروں کا خیال تھا کہ الیاس نبی عیسیٰ میں ظاہر ہوا ہے یا کہ قدیم زمانے کا کوئی اَور نبی جی اُٹھا ہے۔

And of some, that Elias had appeared; and of others, that one of the old prophets was risen again.

لیکن ہیرودیس نے کہا، ”مَیں نے خود یحییٰ کا سر قلم کروایا تھا۔ تو پھر یہ کون ہے جس کے بارے میں مَیں اِس قسم کی باتیں سنتا ہوں؟“ اور وہ اُس سے ملنے کی کوشش کرنے لگا۔

And Herod said, John have I beheaded: but who is this, of whom I hear such things? And he desired to see him.

رسول واپس آئے تو اُنہوں نے عیسیٰ کو سب کچھ سنایا جو اُنہوں نے کیا تھا۔ پھر وہ اُنہیں الگ لے جا کر بیت صیدا نامی شہر میں آیا۔

And the apostles, when they were returned, told him all that they had done. And he took them, and went aside privately into a desert place belonging to the city called Bethsaida.

لیکن جب لوگوں کو پتا چلا تو وہ اُن کے پیچھے وہاں پہنچ گئے۔ عیسیٰ نے اُنہیں آنے دیا اور اللہ کی بادشاہی کے بارے میں تعلیم دی۔ ساتھ ساتھ اُس نے مریضوں کو شفا بھی دی۔

And the people, when they knew it, followed him: and he received them, and spake unto them of the kingdom of God, and healed them that had need of healing.

جب دن ڈھلنے لگا تو بارہ شاگردوں نے پاس آ کر اُس سے کہا، ”لوگوں کو رُخصت کر دیں تاکہ وہ ارد گرد کے دیہاتوں اور بستیوں میں جا کر رات ٹھہرنے اور کھانے کا بندوبست کر سکیں، کیونکہ اِس ویران جگہ میں کچھ نہیں ملے گا۔“

And when the day began to wear away, then came the twelve, and said unto him, Send the multitude away, that they may go into the towns and country round about, and lodge, and get victuals: for we are here in a desert place.

لیکن عیسیٰ نے اُنہیں کہا، ”تم خود اِنہیں کچھ کھانے کو دو۔“ اُنہوں نے جواب دیا، ”ہمارے پاس صرف پانچ روٹیاں اور دو مچھلیاں ہیں۔ یا کیا ہم جا کر اِن تمام لوگوں کے لئے کھانا خرید لائیں؟“

But he said unto them, Give ye them to eat. And they said, We have no more but five loaves and two fishes; except we should go and buy meat for all this people.

(وہاں تقریباً 5,000 مرد تھے۔) عیسیٰ نے اپنے شاگردوں سے کہا، ”تمام لوگوں کو گروہوں میں تقسیم کر کے بٹھا دو۔ ہر گروہ پچاس افراد پر مشتمل ہو۔“

For they were about five thousand men. And he said to his disciples, Make them sit down by fifties in a company.

شاگردوں نے ایسا ہی کیا اور سب کو بٹھا دیا۔

And they did so, and made them all sit down.

اِس پر عیسیٰ نے اُن پانچ روٹیوں اور دو مچھلیوں کو لے کر آسمان کی طرف نظر اُٹھائی اور اُن کے لئے شکرگزاری کی دعا کی۔ پھر اُس نے اُنہیں توڑ توڑ کر شاگردوں کو دیا تاکہ وہ لوگوں میں تقسیم کریں۔

Then he took the five loaves and the two fishes, and looking up to heaven, he blessed them, and brake, and gave to the disciples to set before the multitude.

اور سب نے جی بھر کر کھایا۔ اِس کے بعد جب بچے ہوئے ٹکڑے جمع کئے گئے تو بارہ ٹوکرے بھر گئے۔

And they did eat, and were all filled: and there was taken up of fragments that remained to them twelve baskets.

ایک دن عیسیٰ اکیلا دعا کر رہا تھا۔ صرف شاگرد اُس کے ساتھ تھے۔ اُس نے اُن سے پوچھا، ”مَیں عام لوگوں کے نزدیک کون ہوں؟“

And it came to pass, as he was alone praying, his disciples were with him: and he asked them, saying, Whom say the people that I am?

اُنہوں نے جواب دیا، ”کچھ کہتے ہیں یحییٰ بپتسمہ دینے والا، کچھ یہ کہ آپ الیاس نبی ہیں۔ کچھ یہ بھی کہتے ہیں کہ قدیم زمانے کا کوئی نبی جی اُٹھا ہے۔“

They answering said, John the Baptist; but some say, Elias; and others say, that one of the old prophets is risen again.

اُس نے پوچھا، ”لیکن تم کیا کہتے ہو؟ تمہارے نزدیک مَیں کون ہوں؟“ پطرس نے جواب دیا، ”آپ اللہ کے مسیح ہیں۔“

He said unto them, But whom say ye that I am? Peter answering said, The Christ of God.

یہ سن کر عیسیٰ نے اُنہیں یہ بات کسی کو بھی بتانے سے منع کیا۔

And he straitly charged them, and commanded them to tell no man that thing;

اُس نے کہا، ”لازم ہے کہ ابنِ آدم بہت دُکھ اُٹھا کر بزرگوں، راہنما اماموں اور شریعت کے علما سے رد کیا جائے۔ اُسے قتل بھی کیا جائے گا، لیکن تیسرے دن وہ جی اُٹھے گا۔“

Saying, The Son of man must suffer many things, and be rejected of the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be slain, and be raised the third day.

پھر اُس نے سب سے کہا، ”جو میرے پیچھے آنا چاہے وہ اپنے آپ کا انکار کرے اور ہر روز اپنی صلیب اُٹھا کر میرے پیچھے ہو لے۔

And he said to them all, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me.

کیونکہ جو اپنی جان کو بچائے رکھنا چاہے وہ اُسے کھو دے گا۔ لیکن جو میری خاطر اپنی جان کھو دے وہی اُسے بچائے گا۔

For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: but whosoever will lose his life for my sake, the same shall save it.

کیا فائدہ ہے اگر کسی کو پوری دنیا حاصل ہو جائے مگر وہ اپنی جان سے محروم ہو جائے یا اُسے اِس کا نقصان اُٹھانا پڑے؟

For what is a man advantaged, if he gain the whole world, and lose himself, or be cast away?

جو بھی میرے اور میری باتوں کے سبب سے شرمائے اُس سے ابنِ آدم بھی اُس وقت شرمائے گا جب وہ اپنے اور اپنے باپ کے اور مُقدّس فرشتوں کے جلال میں آئے گا۔

For whosoever shall be ashamed of me and of my words, of him shall the Son of man be ashamed, when he shall come in his own glory, and in his Father's, and of the holy angels.

مَیں تم کو سچ بتاتا ہوں، یہاں کچھ ایسے لوگ کھڑے ہیں جو مرنے سے پہلے ہی اللہ کی بادشاہی کو دیکھیں گے۔“

But I tell you of a truth, there be some standing here, which shall not taste of death, till they see the kingdom of God.

تقریباً آٹھ دن گزر گئے۔ پھر عیسیٰ پطرس، یعقوب اور یوحنا کو ساتھ لے کر دعا کرنے کے لئے پہاڑ پر چڑھ گیا۔

And it came to pass about an eight days after these sayings, he took Peter and John and James, and went up into a mountain to pray.

وہاں دعا کرتے کرتے اُس کے چہرے کی صورت بدل گئی اور اُس کے کپڑے سفید ہو کر بجلی کی طرح چمکنے لگے۔

And as he prayed, the fashion of his countenance was altered, and his raiment was white and glistering.

اچانک دو مرد ظاہر ہو کر اُس سے مخاطب ہوئے۔ ایک موسیٰ اور دوسرا الیاس تھا۔

And, behold, there talked with him two men, which were Moses and Elias:

اُن کی شکل و صورت پُرجلال تھی۔ وہ عیسیٰ سے اِس کے بارے میں بات کرنے لگے کہ وہ کس طرح اللہ کا مقصد پورا کر کے یروشلم میں اِس دنیا سے کوچ کر جائے گا۔

Who appeared in glory, and spake of his decease which he should accomplish at Jerusalem.

پطرس اور اُس کے ساتھیوں کو گہری نیند آ گئی تھی، لیکن جب وہ جاگ اُٹھے تو عیسیٰ کا جلال دیکھا اور یہ کہ دو آدمی اُس کے ساتھ کھڑے ہیں۔

But Peter and they that were with him were heavy with sleep: and when they were awake, they saw his glory, and the two men that stood with him.

جب وہ مرد عیسیٰ کو چھوڑ کر روانہ ہونے لگے تو پطرس نے کہا، ”اُستاد، کتنی اچھی بات ہے کہ ہم یہاں ہیں۔ آئیں، ہم تین جھونپڑیاں بنائیں، ایک آپ کے لئے، ایک موسیٰ کے لئے اور ایک الیاس کے لئے۔“ لیکن وہ نہیں جانتا تھا کہ کیا کہہ رہا ہے۔

And it came to pass, as they departed from him, Peter said unto Jesus, Master, it is good for us to be here: and let us make three tabernacles; one for thee, and one for Moses, and one for Elias: not knowing what he said.

یہ کہتے ہی ایک بادل آ کر اُن پر چھا گیا۔ جب وہ اُس میں داخل ہوئے تو دہشت زدہ ہو گئے۔

While he thus spake, there came a cloud, and overshadowed them: and they feared as they entered into the cloud.

پھر بادل سے ایک آواز سنائی دی، ”یہ میرا چنا ہوا فرزند ہے، اِس کی سنو۔“

And there came a voice out of the cloud, saying, This is my beloved Son: hear him.

آواز ختم ہوئی تو عیسیٰ اکیلا ہی تھا۔ اور اُن دنوں میں شاگردوں نے کسی کو بھی اِس واقعے کے بارے میں نہ بتایا بلکہ خاموش رہے۔

And when the voice was past, Jesus was found alone. And they kept it close, and told no man in those days any of those things which they had seen.

اگلے دن وہ پہاڑ سے اُتر آئے تو ایک بڑا ہجوم عیسیٰ سے ملنے آیا۔

And it came to pass, that on the next day, when they were come down from the hill, much people met him.

ہجوم میں سے ایک آدمی نے اونچی آواز سے کہا، ”اُستاد، مہربانی کر کے میرے بیٹے پر نظر کریں۔ وہ میرا اکلوتا بیٹا ہے۔

And, behold, a man of the company cried out, saying, Master, I beseech thee, look upon my son: for he is mine only child.

ایک بدروح اُسے بار بار اپنی گرفت میں لے لیتی ہے۔ پھر وہ اچانک چیخیں مارنے لگتا ہے۔ بدروح اُسے جھنجھوڑ کر اِتنا تنگ کرتی ہے کہ اُس کے منہ سے جھاگ نکلنے لگتا ہے۔ وہ اُسے کچل کچل کر مشکل سے چھوڑتی ہے۔

And, lo, a spirit taketh him, and he suddenly crieth out; and it teareth him that he foameth again, and bruising him hardly departeth from him.

مَیں نے آپ کے شاگردوں سے درخواست کی تھی کہ وہ اُسے نکالیں، لیکن وہ ناکام رہے۔“

And I besought thy disciples to cast him out; and they could not.

عیسیٰ نے کہا، ”ایمان سے خالی اور ٹیڑھی نسل! مَیں کب تک تمہارے پاس رہوں، کب تک تمہیں برداشت کروں؟“ پھر اُس نے آدمی سے کہا، ”اپنے بیٹے کو لے آ۔“

And Jesus answering said, O faithless and perverse generation, how long shall I be with you, and suffer you? Bring thy son hither.

بیٹا عیسیٰ کے پاس آ رہا تھا تو بدروح اُسے زمین پر پٹخ کر جھنجھوڑنے لگی۔ لیکن عیسیٰ نے ناپاک روح کو ڈانٹ کر بچے کو شفا دی۔ پھر اُس نے اُسے واپس باپ کے سپرد کر دیا۔

And as he was yet a coming, the devil threw him down, and tare him. And Jesus rebuked the unclean spirit, and healed the child, and delivered him again to his father.

تمام لوگ اللہ کی عظیم قدرت کو دیکھ کر ہکا بکا رہ گئے۔ ابھی سب اُن تمام کاموں پر تعجب کر رہے تھے جو عیسیٰ نے حال ہی میں کئے تھے کہ اُس نے اپنے شاگردوں سے کہا،

And they were all amazed at the mighty power of God. But while they wondered every one at all things which Jesus did, he said unto his disciples,

”میری اِس بات پر خوب دھیان دو، ابنِ آدم کو آدمیوں کے حوالے کر دیا جائے گا۔“

Let these sayings sink down into your ears: for the Son of man shall be delivered into the hands of men.

لیکن شاگرد اِس کا مطلب نہ سمجھے۔ یہ بات اُن سے پوشیدہ رہی اور وہ اِسے سمجھ نہ سکے۔ نیز، وہ عیسیٰ سے اِس کے بارے میں پوچھنے سے ڈرتے بھی تھے۔

But they understood not this saying, and it was hid from them, that they perceived it not: and they feared to ask him of that saying.

پھر شاگرد بحث کرنے لگے کہ ہم میں سے کون سب سے بڑا ہے۔

Then there arose a reasoning among them, which of them should be greatest.

لیکن عیسیٰ جانتا تھا کہ وہ کیا سوچ رہے ہیں۔ اُس نے ایک چھوٹے بچے کو لے کر اپنے پاس کھڑا کیا

And Jesus, perceiving the thought of their heart, took a child, and set him by him,

اور اُن سے کہا، ”جو میرے نام میں اِس بچے کو قبول کرتا ہے وہ مجھے ہی قبول کرتا ہے۔ اور جو مجھے قبول کرتا ہے وہ اُسے قبول کرتا ہے جس نے مجھے بھیجا ہے۔ چنانچہ تم میں سے جو سب سے چھوٹا ہے وہی بڑا ہے۔“

And said unto them, Whosoever shall receive this child in my name receiveth me: and whosoever shall receive me receiveth him that sent me: for he that is least among you all, the same shall be great.

یوحنا بول اُٹھا، ”اُستاد، ہم نے کسی کو دیکھا جو آپ کا نام لے کر بدروحیں نکال رہا تھا۔ ہم نے اُسے منع کیا، کیونکہ وہ ہمارے ساتھ مل کر آپ کی پیروی نہیں کرتا۔“

And John answered and said, Master, we saw one casting out devils in thy name; and we forbad him, because he followeth not with us.

لیکن عیسیٰ نے کہا، ”اُسے منع نہ کرنا، کیونکہ جو تمہارے خلاف نہیں وہ تمہارے حق میں ہے۔“

And Jesus said unto him, Forbid him not: for he that is not against us is for us.

جب وہ وقت قریب آیا کہ عیسیٰ کو آسمان پر اُٹھا لیا جائے تو وہ بڑے عزم کے ساتھ یروشلم کی طرف سفر کرنے لگا۔

And it came to pass, when the time was come that he should be received up, he stedfastly set his face to go to Jerusalem,

اِس مقصد کے تحت اُس نے اپنے آگے قاصد بھیج دیئے۔ چلتے چلتے وہ سامریوں کے ایک گاؤں میں پہنچے جہاں وہ اُس کے لئے ٹھہرنے کی جگہ تیار کرنا چاہتے تھے۔

And sent messengers before his face: and they went, and entered into a village of the Samaritans, to make ready for him.

لیکن گاؤں کے لوگوں نے عیسیٰ کو ٹکنے نہ دیا، کیونکہ اُس کی منزلِ مقصود یروشلم تھی۔

And they did not receive him, because his face was as though he would go to Jerusalem.

یہ دیکھ کر اُس کے شاگرد یعقوب اور یوحنا نے کہا، ”خداوند، کیا [الیاس کی طرح] ہم کہیں کہ آسمان پر سے آگ نازل ہو کر اِن کو بھسم کر دے؟“

And when his disciples James and John saw this, they said, Lord, wilt thou that we command fire to come down from heaven, and consume them, even as Elias did?

لیکن عیسیٰ نے مُڑ کر اُنہیں ڈانٹا [اور کہا، ”تم نہیں جانتے کہ تم کس قسم کی روح کے ہو۔ ابنِ آدم اِس لئے نہیں آیا کہ لوگوں کو ہلاک کرے بلکہ اِس لئے کہ اُنہیں بچائے۔“]

But he turned, and rebuked them, and said, Ye know not what manner of spirit ye are of.

چنانچہ وہ کسی اَور گاؤں میں چلے گئے۔

For the Son of man is not come to destroy men's lives, but to save them. And they went to another village.

سفر کرتے کرتے کسی نے راستے میں عیسیٰ سے کہا، ”جہاں بھی آپ جائیں مَیں آپ کے پیچھے چلتا رہوں گا۔“

And it came to pass, that, as they went in the way, a certain man said unto him, Lord, I will follow thee whithersoever thou goest.

عیسیٰ نے جواب دیا، ”لومڑیاں اپنے بھٹوں میں اور پرندے اپنے گھونسلوں میں آرام کر سکتے ہیں، لیکن ابنِ آدم کے پاس سر رکھ کر آرام کرنے کی کوئی جگہ نہیں۔“

And Jesus said unto him, Foxes have holes, and birds of the air have nests; but the Son of man hath not where to lay his head.

کسی اَور سے اُس نے کہا، ”میرے پیچھے ہو لے۔“ لیکن اُس آدمی نے کہا، ”خداوند، مجھے پہلے جا کر اپنے باپ کو دفن کرنے کی اجازت دیں۔“

And he said unto another, Follow me. But he said, Lord, suffer me first to go and bury my father.

لیکن عیسیٰ نے جواب دیا، ”مُردوں کو اپنے مُردے دفنانے دے۔ تُو جا کر اللہ کی بادشاہی کی منادی کر۔“

Jesus said unto him, Let the dead bury their dead: but go thou and preach the kingdom of God.

ایک اَور آدمی نے یہ معذرت چاہی، ”خداوند، مَیں ضرور آپ کے پیچھے ہو لوں گا۔ لیکن پہلے مجھے اپنے گھر والوں کو خیرباد کہنے دیں۔“

And another also said, Lord, I will follow thee; but let me first go bid them farewell, which are at home at my house.

لیکن عیسیٰ نے جواب دیا، ”جو بھی ہل چلاتے ہوئے پیچھے کی طرف دیکھے وہ اللہ کی بادشاہی کے لائق نہیں ہے۔“

And Jesus said unto him, No man, having put his hand to the plough, and looking back, is fit for the kingdom of God.
