Mark 4

And he began again to teach by the sea side: and there was gathered unto him a great multitude, so that he entered into a ship, and sat in the sea; and the whole multitude was by the sea on the land.

پھر عیسیٰ دوبارہ جھیل کے کنارے تعلیم دینے لگا۔ اور اِتنی بڑی بھیڑ اُس کے پاس جمع ہوئی کہ وہ جھیل میں کھڑی ایک کشتی میں بیٹھ گیا۔ باقی لوگ جھیل کے کنارے پر کھڑے رہے۔

And he taught them many things by parables, and said unto them in his doctrine,

اُس نے اُنہیں بہت سی باتیں تمثیلوں میں سکھائیں۔ اُن میں سے ایک یہ تھی:

Hearken; Behold, there went out a sower to sow:

”سنو! ایک کسان بیج بونے کے لئے نکلا۔

And it came to pass, as he sowed, some fell by the way side, and the fowls of the air came and devoured it up.

جب بیج اِدھر اُدھر بکھر گیا تو کچھ دانے راستے پر گرے اور پرندوں نے آ کر اُنہیں چگ لیا۔

And some fell on stony ground, where it had not much earth; and immediately it sprang up, because it had no depth of earth:

کچھ پتھریلی زمین پر گرے جہاں مٹی کی کمی تھی۔ وہ جلد اُگ آئے کیونکہ مٹی گہری نہیں تھی۔

But when the sun was up, it was scorched; and because it had no root, it withered away.

لیکن جب سورج نکلا تو پودے جُھلس گئے اور چونکہ وہ جڑ نہ پکڑ سکے اِس لئے سوکھ گئے۔

And some fell among thorns, and the thorns grew up, and choked it, and it yielded no fruit.

کچھ دانے خود رَو کانٹےدار پودوں کے درمیان بھی گرے۔ وہاں وہ اُگنے تو لگے، لیکن خود رَو پودوں نے ساتھ ساتھ بڑھ کر اُنہیں پھلنے پھولنے کی جگہ نہ دی۔ چنانچہ وہ بھی ختم ہو گئے اور پھل نہ لا سکے۔

And other fell on good ground, and did yield fruit that sprang up and increased; and brought forth, some thirty, and some sixty, and some an hundred.

لیکن ایسے دانے بھی تھے جو زرخیز زمین میں گرے۔ وہاں وہ پھوٹ نکلے اور بڑھتے بڑھتے تیس گُنا، ساٹھ گُنا بلکہ سَو گُنا تک پھل لائے۔“

And he said unto them, He that hath ears to hear, let him hear.

پھر اُس نے کہا، ”جو سن سکتا ہے وہ سن لے!“

And when he was alone, they that were about him with the twelve asked of him the parable.

جب وہ اکیلا تھا تو جو لوگ اُس کے ارد گرد جمع تھے اُنہوں نے بارہ شاگردوں سمیت اُس سے پوچھا کہ اِس تمثیل کا کیا مطلب ہے؟

And he said unto them, Unto you it is given to know the mystery of the kingdom of God: but unto them that are without, all these things are done in parables:

اُس نے جواب دیا، ”تم کو تو اللہ کی بادشاہی کا بھید سمجھنے کی لیاقت دی گئی ہے۔ لیکن مَیں اِس دائرے سے باہر کے لوگوں کو ہر بات سمجھانے کے لئے تمثیلیں استعمال کرتا ہوں

That seeing they may see, and not perceive; and hearing they may hear, and not understand; lest at any time they should be converted, and their sins should be forgiven them.

تاکہ پاک کلام پورا ہو جائے کہ ’وہ اپنی آنکھوں سے دیکھیں گے مگر کچھ نہیں جانیں گے، وہ اپنے کانوں سے سنیں گے مگر کچھ نہیں سمجھیں گے، ایسا نہ ہو کہ وہ میری طرف رجوع کریں اور اُنہیں معاف کر دیا جائے‘۔“

And he said unto them, Know ye not this parable? and how then will ye know all parables?

پھر عیسیٰ نے اُن سے کہا، ”کیا تم یہ تمثیل نہیں سمجھتے؟ تو پھر باقی تمام تمثیلیں کس طرح سمجھ پاؤ گے؟

The sower soweth the word.

بیج بونے والا اللہ کا کلام بو دیتا ہے۔

And these are they by the way side, where the word is sown; but when they have heard, Satan cometh immediately, and taketh away the word that was sown in their hearts.

راستے پر گرنے والے دانے وہ لوگ ہیں جو کلام کو سنتے تو ہیں، لیکن پھر ابلیس فوراً آ کر وہ کلام چھین لیتا ہے جو اُن میں بویا گیا ہے۔

And these are they likewise which are sown on stony ground; who, when they have heard the word, immediately receive it with gladness;

پتھریلی زمین پر گرنے والے دانے وہ لوگ ہیں جو کلام سنتے ہی اُسے خوشی سے قبول تو کر لیتے ہیں،

And have no root in themselves, and so endure but for a time: afterward, when affliction or persecution ariseth for the word's sake, immediately they are offended.

لیکن وہ جڑ نہیں پکڑتے اور اِس لئے زیادہ دیر تک قائم نہیں رہتے۔ جوں ہی وہ کلام پر ایمان لانے کے باعث کسی مصیبت یا ایذا رسانی سے دوچار ہو جائیں، تو وہ برگشتہ ہو جاتے ہیں۔

And these are they which are sown among thorns; such as hear the word,

خود رَو کانٹےدار پودوں کے درمیان گرے ہوئے دانے وہ لوگ ہیں جو کلام سنتے تو ہیں،

And the cares of this world, and the deceitfulness of riches, and the lusts of other things entering in, choke the word, and it becometh unfruitful.

لیکن پھر روزمرہ کی پریشانیاں، دولت کا فریب اور دیگر چیزوں کا لالچ کلام کو پھلنے پھولنے نہیں دیتے۔ نتیجے میں وہ پھل لانے تک نہیں پہنچتا۔

And these are they which are sown on good ground; such as hear the word, and receive it, and bring forth fruit, some thirtyfold, some sixty, and some an hundred.

اِس کے مقابلے میں زرخیز زمین میں گرے ہوئے دانے وہ لوگ ہیں جو کلام سن کر اُسے قبول کرتے اور بڑھتے بڑھتے تیس گُنا، ساٹھ گُنا بلکہ سَو گُنا تک پھل لاتے ہیں۔“

And he said unto them, Is a candle brought to be put under a bushel, or under a bed? and not to be set on a candlestick?

عیسیٰ نے بات جاری رکھی اور کہا، ”کیا چراغ کو اِس لئے جلا کر لایا جاتا ہے کہ وہ کسی برتن یا چارپائی کے نیچے رکھا جائے؟ ہرگز نہیں! اُسے شمع دان پر رکھا جاتا ہے۔

For there is nothing hid, which shall not be manifested; neither was any thing kept secret, but that it should come abroad.

کیونکہ جو کچھ بھی اِس وقت پوشیدہ ہے اُسے آخرکار ظاہر ہو جانا ہے اور تمام بھیدوں کو ایک دن کھل جانا ہے۔

If any man have ears to hear, let him hear.

اگر کوئی سن سکے تو سن لے۔“

And he said unto them, Take heed what ye hear: with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you: and unto you that hear shall more be given.

اُس نے اُن سے یہ بھی کہا، ”اِس پر دھیان دو کہ تم کیا سنتے ہو۔ جس حساب سے تم دوسروں کو دیتے ہو اُسی حساب سے تم کو بھی دیا جائے گا بلکہ تم کو اُس سے بڑھ کر ملے گا۔

For he that hath, to him shall be given: and he that hath not, from him shall be taken even that which he hath.

کیونکہ جسے کچھ حاصل ہوا ہے اُسے اَور بھی دیا جائے گا، جبکہ جسے کچھ حاصل نہیں ہوا اُس سے وہ تھوڑا بہت بھی چھین لیا جائے گا جو اُسے حاصل ہے۔“

And he said, So is the kingdom of God, as if a man should cast seed into the ground;

پھر عیسیٰ نے کہا، ”اللہ کی بادشاہی یوں سمجھ لو: ایک کسان زمین میں بیج بکھیر دیتا ہے۔

And should sleep, and rise night and day, and the seed should spring and grow up, he knoweth not how.

یہ بیج پھوٹ کر دن رات اُگتا رہتا ہے، خواہ کسان سو رہا یا جاگ رہا ہو۔ اُسے معلوم نہیں کہ یہ کیونکر ہوتا ہے۔

For the earth bringeth forth fruit of herself; first the blade, then the ear, after that the full corn in the ear.

زمین خود بخود اناج کی فصل پیدا کرتی ہے۔ پہلے پتے نکلتے ہیں، پھر بالیں نظر آنے لگتی ہیں اور آخر میں دانے پیدا ہو جاتے ہیں۔

But when the fruit is brought forth, immediately he putteth in the sickle, because the harvest is come.

اور جوں ہی اناج کی فصل پک جاتی ہے کسان آ کر درانتی سے اُسے کاٹ لیتا ہے، کیونکہ فصل کی کٹائی کا وقت آ چکا ہوتا ہے۔“

And he said, Whereunto shall we liken the kingdom of God? or with what comparison shall we compare it?

پھر عیسیٰ نے کہا، ”ہم اللہ کی بادشاہی کا موازنہ کس چیز سے کریں؟ یا ہم کون سی تمثیل سے اِسے بیان کریں؟

It is like a grain of mustard seed, which, when it is sown in the earth, is less than all the seeds that be in the earth:

وہ رائی کے دانے کی مانند ہے جو زمین میں ڈالا گیا ہو۔ رائی بیجوں میں سب سے چھوٹا دانہ ہے

But when it is sown, it groweth up, and becometh greater than all herbs, and shooteth out great branches; so that the fowls of the air may lodge under the shadow of it.

لیکن بڑھتے بڑھتے سبزیوں میں سب سے بڑا ہو جاتا ہے۔ اُس کی شاخیں اِتنی لمبی ہو جاتی ہیں کہ پرندے اُس کے سائے میں اپنے گھونسلے بنا سکتے ہیں۔“

And with many such parables spake he the word unto them, as they were able to hear it.

عیسیٰ اِسی قسم کی بہت سی تمثیلوں کی مدد سے اُنہیں کلام یوں سناتا تھا کہ وہ اِسے سمجھ سکتے تھے۔

But without a parable spake he not unto them: and when they were alone, he expounded all things to his disciples.

ہاں، عوام کو وہ صرف تمثیلوں کے ذریعے سکھاتا تھا۔ لیکن جب وہ اپنے شاگردوں کے ساتھ اکیلا ہوتا تو وہ ہر بات کی تشریح کرتا تھا۔

And the same day, when the even was come, he saith unto them, Let us pass over unto the other side.

اُس دن جب شام ہوئی تو عیسیٰ نے اپنے شاگردوں سے کہا، ”آؤ، ہم جھیل کے پار چلیں۔“

And when they had sent away the multitude, they took him even as he was in the ship. And there were also with him other little ships.

چنانچہ وہ بھیڑ کو رُخصت کر کے اُسے لے کر چل پڑے۔ بعض اَور کشتیاں بھی ساتھ گئیں۔

And there arose a great storm of wind, and the waves beat into the ship, so that it was now full.

اچانک سخت آندھی آئی۔ لہریں کشتی سے ٹکرا کر اُسے پانی سے بھرنے لگیں،

And he was in the hinder part of the ship, asleep on a pillow: and they awake him, and say unto him, Master, carest thou not that we perish?

لیکن عیسیٰ ابھی تک کشتی کے پچھلے حصے میں اپنا سر گدی پر رکھے سو رہا تھا۔ شاگردوں نے اُسے جگا کر کہا، ”اُستاد، کیا آپ کو پروا نہیں کہ ہم تباہ ہو رہے ہیں؟“

And he arose, and rebuked the wind, and said unto the sea, Peace, be still. And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm.

وہ جاگ اُٹھا، آندھی کو ڈانٹا اور جھیل سے کہا، ”خاموش! چپ کر!“ اِس پر آندھی تھم گئی اور لہریں بالکل ساکت ہو گئیں۔

And he said unto them, Why are ye so fearful? how is it that ye have no faith?

پھر عیسیٰ نے شاگردوں سے پوچھا، ”تم کیوں گھبراتے ہو؟ کیا تم ابھی تک ایمان نہیں رکھتے؟“

And they feared exceedingly, and said one to another, What manner of man is this, that even the wind and the sea obey him?

اُن پر سخت خوف طاری ہو گیا اور وہ ایک دوسرے سے کہنے لگے، ”آخر یہ کون ہے؟ ہَوا اور جھیل بھی اُس کا حکم مانتی ہیں۔“
