Acts 11

And the apostles and brethren that were in Judæa heard that the Gentiles had also received the word of God.

یہ خبر رسولوں اور یہودیہ کے باقی بھائیوں تک پہنچی کہ غیریہودیوں نے بھی اللہ کا کلام قبول کیا ہے۔

And when Peter was come up to Jerusalem, they that were of the circumcision contended with him,

چنانچہ جب پطرس یروشلم واپس آیا تو یہودی ایمان دار اُس پر اعتراض کرنے لگے،

Saying, Thou wentest in to men uncircumcised, and didst eat with them.

”آپ غیریہودیوں کے گھر میں گئے اور اُن کے ساتھ کھانا بھی کھایا۔“

But Peter rehearsed the matter from the beginning, and expounded it by order unto them, saying,

پھر پطرس نے اُن کے سامنے ترتیب سے سب کچھ بیان کیا جو ہوا تھا۔

I was in the city of Joppa praying: and in a trance I saw a vision, A certain vessel descend, as it had been a great sheet, let down from heaven by four corners; and it came even to me:

”مَیں یافا شہر میں دعا کر رہا تھا کہ وجد کی حالت میں آ کر رویا دیکھی۔ آسمان سے ایک چیز زمین پر اُتر رہی ہے، کتان کی بڑی چادر جیسی جو اپنے چاروں کونوں سے اُتاری جا رہی ہے۔ اُترتی اُترتی وہ مجھ تک پہنچ گئی۔

Upon the which when I had fastened mine eyes, I considered, and saw fourfooted beasts of the earth, and wild beasts, and creeping things, and fowls of the air.

جب مَیں نے غور سے دیکھا تو پتا چلا کہ اُس میں تمام قسم کے جانور ہیں: چار پاؤں والے، رینگنے والے اور پرندے۔

And I heard a voice saying unto me, Arise, Peter; slay and eat.

پھر ایک آواز مجھ سے مخاطب ہوئی، ’پطرس، اُٹھ! کچھ ذبح کر کے کھا!‘

But I said, Not so, Lord: for nothing common or unclean hath at any time entered into my mouth.

مَیں نے اعتراض کیا، ’ہرگز نہیں، خداوند، مَیں نے کبھی بھی حرام یا ناپاک کھانا نہیں کھایا۔‘

But the voice answered me again from heaven, What God hath cleansed, that call not thou common.

لیکن یہ آواز دوبارہ مجھ سے ہم کلام ہوئی، ’جو کچھ اللہ نے پاک کر دیا ہے اُسے ناپاک قرار نہ دے۔‘

And this was done three times: and all were drawn up again into heaven.

تین مرتبہ ایسا ہوا، پھر چادر کو جانوروں سمیت واپس آسمان پر اُٹھا لیا گیا۔

And, behold, immediately there were three men already come unto the house where I was, sent from Cæsarea unto me.

اُسی وقت تین آدمی اُس گھر کے سامنے رُک گئے جہاں مَیں ٹھہرا ہوا تھا۔ اُنہیں قیصریہ سے میرے پاس بھیجا گیا تھا۔

And the Spirit bade me go with them, nothing doubting. Moreover these six brethren accompanied me, and we entered into the man's house:

روح القدس نے مجھے بتایا کہ مَیں بغیر جھجکے اُن کے ساتھ چلا جاؤں۔ یہ میرے چھ بھائی بھی میرے ساتھ گئے۔ ہم روانہ ہو کر اُس آدمی کے گھر میں داخل ہوئے جس نے مجھے بُلایا تھا۔

And he shewed us how he had seen an angel in his house, which stood and said unto him, Send men to Joppa, and call for Simon, whose surname is Peter;

اُس نے ہمیں بتایا کہ ایک فرشتہ گھر میں اُس پر ظاہر ہوا تھا جس نے اُسے کہا تھا، ’کسی کو یافا بھیج کر شمعون کو بُلا لو جو پطرس کہلاتا ہے۔

Who shall tell thee words, whereby thou and all thy house shall be saved.

اُس کے پاس وہ پیغام ہے جس کے ذریعے تم اپنے پورے گھرانے سمیت نجات پاؤ گے۔‘

And as I began to speak, the Holy Ghost fell on them, as on us at the beginning.

جب مَیں وہاں بولنے لگا تو روح القدس اُن پر نازل ہوا، بالکل اُسی طرح جس طرح وہ شروع میں ہم پر ہوا تھا۔

Then remembered I the word of the Lord, how that he said, John indeed baptized with water; but ye shall be baptized with the Holy Ghost.

پھر مجھے وہ بات یاد آئی جو خداوند نے کہی تھی، ’یحییٰ نے تم کو پانی سے بپتسمہ دیا، لیکن تمہیں روح القدس سے بپتسمہ دیا جائے گا۔‘

Forasmuch then as God gave them the like gift as he did unto us, who believed on the Lord Jesus Christ; what was I, that I could withstand God?

اللہ نے اُنہیں وہی نعمت دی جو اُس نے ہمیں بھی دی تھی جو خداوند عیسیٰ مسیح پر ایمان لائے تھے۔ تو پھر مَیں کون تھا کہ اللہ کو روکتا؟“

When they heard these things, they held their peace, and glorified God, saying, Then hath God also to the Gentiles granted repentance unto life.

پطرس کی یہ باتیں سن کر یروشلم کے ایمان دار اعتراض کرنے سے باز آئے اور اللہ کی تمجید کرنے لگے۔ اُنہوں نے کہا، ”تو اِس کا مطلب ہے کہ اللہ نے غیریہودیوں کو بھی توبہ کرنے اور ابدی زندگی پانے کا موقع دیا ہے۔“

Now they which were scattered abroad upon the persecution that arose about Stephen travelled as far as Phenice, and Cyprus, and Antioch, preaching the word to none but unto the Jews only.

جو ایمان دار ستفنس کی موت کے بعد کی ایذا رسانی سے بکھر گئے تھے وہ فینیکے، قبرص اور انطاکیہ تک پہنچ گئے۔ جہاں بھی وہ جاتے وہاں اللہ کا پیغام سناتے البتہ صرف یہودیوں کو۔

And some of them were men of Cyprus and Cyrene, which, when they were come to Antioch, spake unto the Grecians, preaching the Lord Jesus.

لیکن اُن میں سے کرین اور قبرص کے کچھ آدمی انطاکیہ شہر جا کر یونانیوں کو بھی خداوند عیسیٰ کے بارے میں خوش خبری سنانے لگے۔

And the hand of the Lord was with them: and a great number believed, and turned unto the Lord.

خداوند کی قدرت اُن کے ساتھ تھی، اور بہت سے لوگوں نے ایمان لا کر خداوند کی طرف رجوع کیا۔

Then tidings of these things came unto the ears of the church which was in Jerusalem: and they sent forth Barnabas, that he should go as far as Antioch.

اِس کی خبر یروشلم کی جماعت تک پہنچ گئی تو اُنہوں نے برنباس کو انطاکیہ بھیج دیا۔

Who, when he came, and had seen the grace of God, was glad, and exhorted them all, that with purpose of heart they would cleave unto the Lord.

جب وہ وہاں پہنچا اور دیکھا کہ اللہ کے فضل سے کیا کچھ ہوا ہے تو وہ خوش ہوا۔ اُس نے اُن سب کی حوصلہ افزائی کی کہ وہ پوری لگن سے خداوند کے ساتھ لپٹے رہیں۔

For he was a good man, and full of the Holy Ghost and of faith: and much people was added unto the Lord.

برنباس نیک آدمی تھا جو روح القدس اور ایمان سے معمور تھا۔ چنانچہ اُس وقت بہت سے لوگ خداوند کی جماعت میں شامل ہوئے۔

Then departed Barnabas to Tarsus, for to seek Saul:

اِس کے بعد وہ ساؤل کی تلاش میں ترسس چلا گیا۔

And when he had found him, he brought him unto Antioch. And it came to pass, that a whole year they assembled themselves with the church, and taught much people. And the disciples were called Christians first in Antioch.

جب اُسے ملا تو وہ اُسے انطاکیہ لے آیا۔ وہاں وہ دونوں ایک پورے سال تک جماعت میں شامل ہوتے اور بہت سے لوگوں کو سکھاتے رہے۔ انطاکیہ پہلا مقام تھا جہاں ایمان دار مسیحی کہلانے لگے۔

And in these days came prophets from Jerusalem unto Antioch.

اُن دنوں کچھ نبی یروشلم سے آ کر انطاکیہ پہنچ گئے۔

And there stood up one of them named Agabus, and signified by the Spirit that there should be great dearth throughout all the world: which came to pass in the days of Claudius Cæsar.

ایک کا نام اگبس تھا۔ وہ کھڑا ہوا اور روح القدس کی معرفت پیش گوئی کی کہ روم کی پوری مملکت میں سخت کال پڑے گا۔ (یہ بات اُس وقت پوری ہوئی جب شہنشاہ کلودیُس کی حکومت تھی۔)

Then the disciples, every man according to his ability, determined to send relief unto the brethren which dwelt in Judæa:

اگبس کی بات سن کر انطاکیہ کے شاگردوں نے فیصلہ کیا کہ ہم میں سے ہر ایک اپنی مالی گنجائش کے مطابق کچھ دے تاکہ اُسے یہودیہ میں رہنے والے بھائیوں کی امداد کے لئے بھیجا جا سکے۔

Which also they did, and sent it to the elders by the hands of Barnabas and Saul.

اُنہوں نے اپنے اِس ہدیئے کو برنباس اور ساؤل کے سپرد کر کے وہاں کے بزرگوں کو بھیج دیا۔
