Psalms 74

O God, why hast thou cast us off for ever? why doth thine anger smoke against the sheep of thy pasture?

خدایا، چرا ما را برای همیشه ترک کردی؟ چرا بر ما که گوسفندان مرتع تو هستیم چنین خشمگین شده‌ای؟

Remember thy congregation, which thou hast purchased of old; the rod of thine inheritance, which thou hast redeemed; this mount Zion, wherein thou hast dwelt.

قوم خود را به یاد آور، آنانی را که از زمان قدیم برگزیدی تا قوم تو باشند. آنانی را که از بردگی بازخرید کردی تا طایفهٔ خاص تو باشند. صهیون را که در آن ساکن بودی به یاد آور.

Lift up thy feet unto the perpetual desolations; even all that the enemy hath done wickedly in the sanctuary.

بر این خرابه‌ها عبور کن و ببین که دشمن چگونه همه‌چیز را در خانهٔ تو ویران نموده است!

Thine enemies roar in the midst of thy congregations; they set up their ensigns for signs.

دشمنانت در معبد بزرگ تو، بانگ پیروزی برآوردند و پرچم خود را در آنجا برافراشتند.

A man was famous according as he had lifted up axes upon the thick trees.

مانند هیزم‌شکنانی که با تبر برای قطع درختان آمده باشند،

But now they break down the carved work thereof at once with axes and hammers.

تمام نقش‌های تراشیده شده را با چکش و تبر خراب کردند.

They have cast fire into thy sanctuary, they have defiled by casting down the dwelling place of thy name to the ground.

مکانهای مقدّس تو را خراب کردند و آن را به آتش کشیدند و جایی را که محل پرستش تو بود، بی‌حرمت ساختند.

They said in their hearts, Let us destroy them together: they have burned up all the synagogues of God in the land.

با خود گفتند: «آنها را بکلّی لِه می‌کنیم.» پس تمام معابد را در سراسر خاک اسرائیل آتش زدند.

We see not our signs: there is no more any prophet: neither is there among us any that knoweth how long.

همه آثار مقدّس ما را از بین بردند. هیچ‌یک از انبیا باقی نمانده‌اند و هیچ‌کس نمی‌‌داند که این وضع تا به کی ادامه خواهد داشت.

O God, how long shall the adversary reproach? shall the enemy blaspheme thy name for ever?

خدایا، تا به کی به دشمنانت اجازه می‌دهی که به تو توهین کنند؟ آیا آنان همیشه نام تو را بی‌حرمت خواهند ساخت؟

Why withdrawest thou thy hand, even thy right hand? pluck it out of thy bosom.

چرا به ما کمک نمی‌کنی؟ چرا دست خود را عقب کشیده‌ای؟

For God is my King of old, working salvation in the midst of the earth.

امّا تو ای خدا، از روز ازل پادشاه ما بوده‌ای و بارها ما را نجات داده‌ای.

Thou didst divide the sea by thy strength: thou brakest the heads of the dragons in the waters.

با قدرت خود دریا را شکافتی و سر نهنگها را در اعماق دریا شکستی.

Thou brakest the heads of leviathan in pieces, and gavest him to be meat to the people inhabiting the wilderness.

تو سر هیولای دریایی را شکستی و او را خوراک صحرانشینان کردی.

Thou didst cleave the fountain and the flood: thou driedst up mighty rivers.

چشمه‌ها و جوی‌ها را جاری ساختی و رودخانه‌های بزرگی را که همیشه جاری بودند خشک کردی.

The day is thine, the night also is thine: thou hast prepared the light and the sun.

شب و روز را پدید آوردی و ماه و خورشید را در آسمان قرار دادی.

Thou hast set all the borders of the earth: thou hast made summer and winter.

حدّ و حدود تمام جهان از توست و تو تابستان و زمستان را به وجود آوردی.

Remember this, that the enemy hath reproached, O LORD, and that the foolish people have blasphemed thy name.

امّا خداوندا، ببین که دشمنان چگونه تو را مسخره می‌کنند و مردم بی‌خدا، به نام تو توهین می‌کنند.

O deliver not the soul of thy turtledove unto the multitude of the wicked: forget not the congregation of thy poor for ever.

قوم بیچاره‌ات را فراموش نکن و قوم خود را به دست دشمنانشان رها مکن.

Have respect unto the covenant: for the dark places of the earth are full of the habitations of cruelty.

پیمانی را که با ما بسته‌ای به یاد آور، زیرا که شریران در مکانهای تاریک، در سرتاسر سرزمین ما در کمینند.

O let not the oppressed return ashamed: let the poor and needy praise thy name.

مظلومان را شرمنده مکن، تا مردم مسکین و نیازمند نام تو را ستایش کنند.

Arise, O God, plead thine own cause: remember how the foolish man reproacheth thee daily.

خدایا، برخیز و از حق خود دفاع کن، ببین که مردم بی‌خدا، تمام روز به تو توهین می‌کنند.

Forget not the voice of thine enemies: the tumult of those that rise up against thee increaseth continually.

فریاد خشمگین دشمنان و غوغای مخالفین را که همیشه بلند است، نادیده مگیر!
