Lamentations 5

हे यहोवा, हमारे साथ जो घटा हैं, याद रख। हे यहोवा, हमारे तिरस्कार को देख।

Remember, O LORD, what is come upon us: consider, and behold our reproach.

हमारी धरती परायों के हाथों में दे दी गयी। हमारे घर परदेसियों के हाथों में दिये गये।

Our inheritance is turned to strangers, our houses to aliens.

हम अनाथ हो गये। हमारा कोई पिता नहीं। हमारी माताएं विधवा सी हो गयी हैं।

We are orphans and fatherless, our mothers are as widows.

पानी पीने तक हमको मोल देना पड़ता है, इंधन की लकड़ी तक खरीदनी पड़ती हैं।

We have drunken our water for money; our wood is sold unto us.

अपने कन्धों पर हमें जुए का बोझ उठाना पड़ता है। हम थक कर चूर होते हैं किन्तु विश्राम तनिक हमको नहीं मिलता।

Our necks are under persecution: we labour, and have no rest.

हमने मिस्र के साथ एक वाचा किया; अश्शूर के साथ भी हमने एक वाचा किया था कि पर्याप्त भोजन मिले।

We have given the hand to the Egyptians, and to the Assyrians, to be satisfied with bread.

हमारे पूर्वजों ने तेरे विरोध में पाप किये थे। आज वे मर चुके हैं। अब वे विपत्तियाँ भोग रहे हैं।

Our fathers have sinned, and are not; and we have borne their iniquities.

हमारे दास ही स्वामी बने हैं। यहाँ कोई ऐसा व्यक्ति नहीं जो हमको उनसे बचा ले।

Servants have ruled over us: there is none that doth deliver us out of their hand.

बस भोजन पाने को हमें अपना जीवन दांव पर लगाना पड़ता है। मरुभूमि में ऐसे लोगों के कारण जिनके पास तलवार है हमें अपना जीवन दांव पर लगाना पड़ता है।

We gat our bread with the peril of our lives because of the sword of the wilderness.

हमारी खाल तन्दूर सी तप रही है, हमारी खाल तप रही उस भूख के कारण जो हमको लगी हैं।

Our skin was black like an oven because of the terrible famine.

सिय्योन की स्त्रियों के साथ कुकर्म किये गये हैं। यहूदा की नगरियों की कुमारियों के साथ कुकर्म किये गये हैं।

They ravished the women in Zion, and the maids in the cities of Judah.

हमारे राजकुमार फाँसी पर चढ़ाये गये; उन्होंने हमारे अग्रजों का आदर नहीं किया।

Princes are hanged up by their hand: the faces of elders were not honoured.

हमारे वे शत्रुओं ने हमारे युवा पुरुषों से चक्की में आटा पिसवाया। हमारे युवा पुरुष लकड़ी के बोझ तले ठोकर खाते हुये गिरे।

They took the young men to grind, and the children fell under the wood.

हमारे बुजुर्ग अब नगर के द्वारों पर बैठा नहीं करते। हमारे युवक अब संगीत में भाग नहीं लेते।

The elders have ceased from the gate, the young men from their musick.

हमारे मन में अब कोई खुशी नहीं है। हमारा हर्ष मरे हुए लोगों के विलाप में बदल गया है।

The joy of our heart is ceased; our dance is turned into mourning.

हमारा मुकुट हमारे सिर से गिर गया है। हमारी सब बातें बिगड़ गयी हैं, क्योंकि हमने पाप किये थे।

The crown is fallen from our head: woe unto us, that we have sinned!

इसलिये हमारे मन रोगी हुए है; इन ही बातों से हमारी आँखें मद्धिम हुई है।

For this our heart is faint; for these things our eyes are dim.

सिय्योन का पर्वत विरान हो गया है। सिय्योन के पहाड़ पर अब सियार घूमते है।

Because of the mountain of Zion, which is desolate, the foxes walk upon it.

किन्तु हे यहोवा, तेरा राज्य तो अमर हैं। तेरा महिमापूर्ण सिंहासन सदा—सदा बना रहता है।

Thou, O LORD, remainest for ever; thy throne from generation to generation.

हे यहोवा, ऐसा लगता है जैसे तू हमको सदा के लिये भूल गया है। ऐसा लगता है जैसे इतने समय के लिये तूने हमें अकेला छोड़ दिया है।

Wherefore dost thou forget us for ever, and forsake us so long time?

हे यहोवा, हमको तू अपनी ओर मोड़ ले। हम प्रसन्नता से तेरे पास लौट आयेंगे; हमारे दिन फेर दे जैसे वह पहले थे।

Turn thou us unto thee, O LORD, and we shall be turned; renew our days as of old.

क्या तूने हमें पूरी तरह बिसरा दिया तू हम से बहुत क्रोधित रहा है।

But thou hast utterly rejected us; thou art very wroth against us.
