Job 8

Then answered Bildad the Shuhite, and said,

تب بِلدد سوخی نے جواب دے کر کہا،

How long wilt thou speak these things? and how long shall the words of thy mouth be like a strong wind?

”تُو کب تک اِس قسم کی باتیں کرے گا؟ کب تک تیرے منہ سے آندھی کے جھونکے نکلیں گے؟

Doth God pervert judgment? or doth the Almighty pervert justice?

کیا اللہ انصاف کا خون کر سکتا، کیا قادرِ مطلق راستی کو آگے پیچھے کر سکتا ہے؟

If thy children have sinned against him, and he have cast them away for their transgression;

تیرے بیٹوں نے اُس کا گناہ کیا ہے، اِس لئے اُس نے اُنہیں اُن کے جرم کے قبضے میں چھوڑ دیا۔

If thou wouldest seek unto God betimes, and make thy supplication to the Almighty;

اب تیرے لئے لازم ہے کہ تُو اللہ کا طالب ہو اور قادرِ مطلق سے التجا کرے،

If thou wert pure and upright; surely now he would awake for thee, and make the habitation of thy righteousness prosperous.

کہ تُو پاک ہو اور سیدھی راہ پر چلے۔ پھر وہ اب بھی تیری خاطر جوش میں آ کر تیری راست بازی کی سکونت گاہ کو بحال کرے گا۔

Though thy beginning was small, yet thy latter end should greatly increase.

تب تیرا مستقبل نہایت عظیم ہو گا، خواہ تیری ابتدائی حالت کتنی پست کیوں نہ ہو۔

For enquire, I pray thee, of the former age, and prepare thyself to the search of their fathers:

گزشتہ نسل سے ذرا پوچھ لے، اُس پر دھیان دے جو اُن کے باپ دادا نے تحقیقات کے بعد معلوم کیا۔

(For we are but of yesterday, and know nothing, because our days upon earth are a shadow:)

کیونکہ ہم خود کل ہی پیدا ہوئے اور کچھ نہیں جانتے، زمین پر ہمارے دن سائے جیسے عارضی ہیں۔

Shall not they teach thee, and tell thee, and utter words out of their heart?

لیکن یہ تجھے تعلیم دے کر بات بتا سکتے ہیں، یہ تجھے اپنے دل میں جمع شدہ علم پیش کر سکتے ہیں۔

Can the rush grow up without mire? can the flag grow without water?

کیا آبی نرسل وہاں اُگتا ہے جہاں دلدل نہیں؟ کیا سرکنڈا وہاں پھلتا پھولتا ہے جہاں پانی نہیں؟

Whilst it is yet in his greenness, and not cut down, it withereth before any other herb.

اُس کی کونپلیں ابھی نکل رہی ہیں اور اُسے توڑا نہیں گیا کہ اگر پانی نہ ملے تو باقی ہریالی سے پہلے ہی سوکھ جاتا ہے۔

So are the paths of all that forget God; and the hypocrite's hope shall perish:

یہ ہے اُن کا انجام جو اللہ کو بھول جاتے ہیں، اِسی طرح بےدین کی اُمید جاتی رہتی ہے۔

Whose hope shall be cut off, and whose trust shall be a spider's web.

جس پر وہ اعتماد کرتا ہے وہ نہایت ہی نازک ہے، جس پر اُس کا بھروسا ہے وہ مکڑی کے جالے جیسا کمزور ہے۔

He shall lean upon his house, but it shall not stand: he shall hold it fast, but it shall not endure.

جب وہ جالے پر ٹیک لگائے تو کھڑا نہیں رہتا، جب اُسے پکڑ لے تو قائم نہیں رہتا۔

He is green before the sun, and his branch shooteth forth in his garden.

بےدین دھوپ میں شاداب بیل کی مانند ہے۔ اُس کی کونپلیں چاروں طرف پھیل جاتی،

His roots are wrapped about the heap, and seeth the place of stones.

اُس کی جڑیں پتھر کے ڈھیر پر چھا کر اُن میں ٹک جاتی ہیں۔

If he destroy him from his place, then it shall deny him, saying, I have not seen thee.

لیکن اگر اُسے اُکھاڑا جائے تو جس جگہ پہلے اُگ رہی تھی وہ اُس کا انکار کر کے کہے گی، ’مَیں نے تجھے کبھی دیکھا بھی نہیں۔‘

Behold, this is the joy of his way, and out of the earth shall others grow.

یہ ہے اُس کی راہ کی نام نہاد خوشی! جہاں پہلے تھا وہاں دیگر پودے زمین سے پھوٹ نکلیں گے۔

Behold, God will not cast away a perfect man, neither will he help the evil doers:

یقیناً اللہ بےالزام آدمی کو مسترد نہیں کرتا، یقیناً وہ شریر آدمی کے ہاتھ مضبوط نہیں کرتا۔

Till he fill thy mouth with laughing, and thy lips with rejoicing.

وہ ایک بار پھر تجھے ایسی خوشی بخشے گا کہ تُو ہنس اُٹھے گا اور شادمانی کے نعرے لگائے گا۔

They that hate thee shall be clothed with shame; and the dwelling place of the wicked shall come to nought.

جو تجھ سے نفرت کرتے ہیں وہ شرم سے ملبّس ہو جائیں گے، اور بےدینوں کے خیمے نیست و نابود ہوں گے۔“
