Jeremiah 51

Thus saith the LORD; Behold, I will raise up against Babylon, and against them that dwell in the midst of them that rise up against me, a destroying wind;

رب فرماتا ہے، ”مَیں بابل اور اُس کے باشندوں کے خلاف مہلک آندھی چلاؤں گا۔

And will send unto Babylon fanners, that shall fan her, and shall empty her land: for in the day of trouble they shall be against her round about.

مَیں ملکِ بابل میں غیرملکی بھیجوں گا تاکہ وہ اُسے اناج کی طرح پھٹک کر تباہ کریں۔ آفت کے دن وہ پورے ملک کو گھیرے رکھیں گے۔

Against him that bendeth let the archer bend his bow, and against him that lifteth himself up in his brigandine: and spare ye not her young men; destroy ye utterly all her host.

تیرانداز کو تیر چلانے سے روکو! فوجی کو زرہ بکتر پہن کر لڑنے کے لئے کھڑے ہونے نہ دو! اُن کے نوجوانوں کو زندہ مت چھوڑنا بلکہ فوج کو سراسر نیست و نابود کر دینا!

Thus the slain shall fall in the land of the Chaldeans, and they that are thrust through in her streets.

تب ملکِ بابل میں ہر طرف لاشیں نظر آئیں گی، تلوار کے چِرے ہوئے اُس کی گلیوں میں پڑے رہیں گے۔

For Israel hath not been forsaken, nor Judah of his God, of the LORD of hosts; though their land was filled with sin against the Holy One of Israel.

کیونکہ رب الافواج نے اسرائیل اور یہوداہ کو اکیلا نہیں چھوڑا، اُن کے خدا نے اُنہیں ترک نہیں کیا۔ ملکِ بابل کا قصور نہایت سنگین ہے، اُس نے اسرائیل کے قدوس کا گناہ کیا ہے۔

Flee out of the midst of Babylon, and deliver every man his soul: be not cut off in her iniquity; for this is the time of the LORD'S vengeance; he will render unto her a recompence.

بابل سے بھاگ نکلو! دوڑ کر اپنی جان بچاؤ، ورنہ تمہیں بھی بابل کے قصور کا اجر ملے گا۔ کیونکہ رب کے انتقام کا وقت آ پہنچا ہے، اب بابل کو مناسب سزا ملے گی۔

Babylon hath been a golden cup in the LORD'S hand, that made all the earth drunken: the nations have drunken of her wine; therefore the nations are mad.

بابل رب کے ہاتھ میں سونے کا پیالہ تھا جسے اُس نے پوری دنیا کو پلا دیا۔ اقوام اُس کی مَے پی پی کر متوالی ہو گئیں، اِس لئے وہ دیوانی ہو گئی ہیں۔

Babylon is suddenly fallen and destroyed: howl for her; take balm for her pain, if so be she may be healed.

لیکن اب یہ پیالہ اچانک گر کر ٹوٹ گیا ہے۔ چنانچہ بابل پر آہ و زاری کرو! اُس کے درد اور تکلیف کو دُور کرنے کے لئے بلسان لے آؤ، شاید اُسے شفا ملے۔

We would have healed Babylon, but she is not healed: forsake her, and let us go every one into his own country: for her judgment reacheth unto heaven, and is lifted up even to the skies.

لیکن لوگ کہیں گے، ’ہم بابل کی مدد کرنا چاہتے تھے، لیکن اُس کے زخم بھر نہیں سکتے۔ اِس لئے آؤ، ہم اُسے چھوڑ دیں اور ہر ایک اپنے اپنے ملک میں جا بسے۔ کیونکہ اُس کی سخت عدالت ہو رہی ہے، جتنا آسمان اور بادل بلند ہیں اُتنی ہی سخت اُس کی سزا ہے۔‘

The LORD hath brought forth our righteousness: come, and let us declare in Zion the work of the LORD our God.

رب کی قوم بولے، ’رب ہماری راستی روشنی میں لایا ہے۔ آؤ، ہم صیون میں وہ کچھ سنائیں جو رب ہمارے خدا نے کیا ہے۔‘

Make bright the arrows; gather the shields: the LORD hath raised up the spirit of the kings of the Medes: for his device is against Babylon, to destroy it; because it is the vengeance of the LORD, the vengeance of his temple.

تیروں کو تیز کرو! اپنا ترکش اُن سے بھر لو! رب مادی بادشاہوں کو حرکت میں لایا ہے، کیونکہ وہ بابل کو تباہ کرنے کا ارادہ رکھتا ہے۔ رب انتقام لے گا، اپنے گھر کی تباہی کا بدلہ لے گا۔

Set up the standard upon the walls of Babylon, make the watch strong, set up the watchmen, prepare the ambushes: for the LORD hath both devised and done that which he spake against the inhabitants of Babylon.

بابل کی فصیل کے خلاف جنگ کا جھنڈا گاڑ دو! شہر کے ارد گرد پہرہ داری کا بندوبست مضبوط کرو، ہاں مزید سنتری کھڑے کرو۔ کیونکہ رب نے بابل کے باشندوں کے خلاف منصوبہ باندھ کر اُس کا اعلان کیا ہے، اور اب وہ اُسے پورا کرے گا۔

O thou that dwellest upon many waters, abundant in treasures, thine end is come, and the measure of thy covetousness.

اے بابل بیٹی، تُو گہرے پانی کے پاس بستی اور نہایت دولت مند ہو گئی ہے۔ لیکن خبردار! تیرا انجام قریب ہی ہے، تیری زندگی کا دھاگا کٹ گیا ہے۔

The LORD of hosts hath sworn by himself, saying, Surely I will fill thee with men, as with caterpillers; and they shall lift up a shout against thee.

رب الافواج نے اپنے نام کی قَسم کھا کر فرمایا ہے کہ مَیں تجھے دشمنوں سے بھر دوں گا، اور وہ ٹڈیوں کے غول کی طرح پورے شہر کو ڈھانپ لیں گے۔ ہر جگہ وہ تجھ پر فتح کے نعرے لگائیں گے۔

He hath made the earth by his power, he hath established the world by his wisdom, and hath stretched out the heaven by his understanding.

دیکھو، اللہ ہی نے اپنی قدرت سے زمین کو خلق کیا، اُسی نے اپنی حکمت سے دنیا کی بنیاد رکھی، اور اُسی نے اپنی سمجھ کے مطابق آسمان کو خیمے کی طرح تان لیا۔

When he uttereth his voice, there is a multitude of waters in the heavens; and he causeth the vapours to ascend from the ends of the earth: he maketh lightnings with rain, and bringeth forth the wind out of his treasures.

اُس کے حکم پر آسمان پر پانی کے ذخیرے گرجنے لگتے ہیں۔ وہ دنیا کی انتہا سے بادل چڑھنے دیتا، بارش کے ساتھ بجلی کڑکنے دیتا اور اپنے گوداموں سے ہَوا نکلنے دیتا ہے۔

Every man is brutish by his knowledge; every founder is confounded by the graven image: for his molten image is falsehood, and there is no breath in them.

تمام انسان احمق اور سمجھ سے خالی ہیں۔ ہر سنار اپنے بُتوں کے باعث شرمندہ ہوا ہے۔ اُس کے بُت دھوکا ہی ہیں، اُن میں دم نہیں۔

They are vanity, the work of errors: in the time of their visitation they shall perish.

وہ فضول اور مضحکہ خیز ہیں۔ عدالت کے وقت وہ نیست ہو جائیں گے۔

The portion of Jacob is not like them; for he is the former of all things: and Israel is the rod of his inheritance: the LORD of hosts is his name.

اللہ جو یعقوب کا موروثی حصہ ہے اِن کی مانند نہیں ہے۔ وہ سب کا خالق ہے، اور اسرائیلی قوم اُس کا موروثی حصہ ہے۔ رب الافواج ہی اُس کا نام ہے۔

Thou art my battle axe and weapons of war: for with thee will I break in pieces the nations, and with thee will I destroy kingdoms;

اے بابل، تُو میرا ہتھوڑا، میرا جنگی ہتھیار تھا۔ تیرے ہی ذریعے مَیں نے قوموں کو پاش پاش کر دیا، سلطنتوں کو خاک میں ملا دیا۔

And with thee will I break in pieces the horse and his rider; and with thee will I break in pieces the chariot and his rider;

تیرے ہی ذریعے مَیں نے گھوڑوں کو سواروں سمیت اور رتھوں کو رتھ بانوں سمیت پاش پاش کر دیا۔

With thee also will I break in pieces man and woman; and with thee will I break in pieces old and young; and with thee will I break in pieces the young man and the maid;

تیرے ہی ذریعے مَیں نے مردوں اور عورتوں، بزرگوں اور بچوں، نوجوانوں اور کنواریوں کو پارہ پارہ کر دیا۔

I will also break in pieces with thee the shepherd and his flock; and with thee will I break in pieces the husbandman and his yoke of oxen; and with thee will I break in pieces captains and rulers.

تیرے ہی ذریعے مَیں نے گلہ بان اور اُس کے ریوڑ، کسان اور اُس کے بَیلوں، گورنروں اور سرکاری ملازموں کو ریزہ ریزہ کر دیا۔

And I will render unto Babylon and to all the inhabitants of Chaldea all their evil that they have done in Zion in your sight, saith the LORD.

لیکن اب مَیں بابل اور اُس کے تمام باشندوں کو اُن کی صیون کے ساتھ بدسلوکی کا پورا اجر دوں گا۔ تم اپنی آنکھوں سے اِس کے گواہ ہو گے۔“ یہ رب کا فرمان ہے۔

Behold, I am against thee, O destroying mountain, saith the LORD, which destroyest all the earth: and I will stretch out mine hand upon thee, and roll thee down from the rocks, and will make thee a burnt mountain.

رب فرماتا ہے، ”اے بابل، پہلے تُو مہلک پہاڑ تھا جس نے تمام دنیا کا ستیاناس کر دیا۔ لیکن اب مَیں تجھ سے نپٹ لیتا ہوں۔ مَیں اپنا ہاتھ تیرے خلاف بڑھا کر تجھے اونچی اونچی چٹانوں سے پٹخ دوں گا۔ آخرکار ملبے کا جُھلسا ہوا ڈھیر ہی باقی رہے گا۔

And they shall not take of thee a stone for a corner, nor a stone for foundations; but thou shalt be desolate for ever, saith the LORD.

تُو اِتنا تباہ ہو جائے گا کہ تیرے پتھر نہ کسی مکان کے کونوں کے لئے، نہ کسی بنیاد کے لئے استعمال ہو سکیں گے۔“ یہ رب کا فرمان ہے۔

Set ye up a standard in the land, blow the trumpet among the nations, prepare the nations against her, call together against her the kingdoms of Ararat, Minni, and Ashchenaz; appoint a captain against her; cause the horses to come up as the rough caterpillers.

”آؤ، ملک میں جنگ کا جھنڈا گاڑ دو! اقوام میں نرسنگا پھونک پھونک کر اُنہیں بابل کے خلاف لڑنے کے لئے مخصوص کرو! اُس سے لڑنے کے لئے اراراط، مِنّی اور اشکناز کی سلطنتوں کو بُلاؤ! بابل سے لڑنے کے لئے کمانڈر مقرر کرو۔ گھوڑے بھیج دو جو ٹڈیوں کے ہول ناک غول کی طرح اُس پر ٹوٹ پڑیں۔

Prepare against her the nations with the kings of the Medes, the captains thereof, and all the rulers thereof, and all the land of his dominion.

اقوام کو بابل سے لڑنے کے لئے مخصوص کرو! مادی بادشاہ اپنے گورنروں، افسروں اور تمام مطیع ممالک سمیت تیار ہو جائیں۔

And the land shall tremble and sorrow: for every purpose of the LORD shall be performed against Babylon, to make the land of Babylon a desolation without an inhabitant.

زمین لرزتی اور تھرتھراتی ہے، کیونکہ رب کا منصوبہ اٹل ہے، وہ ملکِ بابل کو یوں تباہ کرنا چاہتا ہے کہ آئندہ اُس میں کوئی نہ رہے۔

The mighty men of Babylon have forborn to fight, they have remained in their holds: their might hath failed; they became as women: they have burned her dwellingplaces; her bars are broken.

بابل کے جنگ آزمودہ فوجی لڑنے سے باز آ کر اپنے قلعوں میں چھپ گئے ہیں۔ اُن کی طاقت جاتی رہی ہے، وہ عورتوں کی مانند ہو گئے ہیں۔ اب بابل کے گھروں کو آگ لگ گئی ہے، فصیل کے دروازوں کے کنڈے ٹوٹ گئے ہیں۔

One post shall run to meet another, and one messenger to meet another, to shew the king of Babylon that his city is taken at one end,

یکے بعد دیگرے قاصد دوڑ کر شاہِ بابل کو اطلاع دیتے ہیں، ’شہر چاروں طرف سے دشمن کے قبضے میں ہے!

And that the passages are stopped, and the reeds they have burned with fire, and the men of war are affrighted.

دریا کو پار کرنے کے تمام راستے اُس کے ہاتھ میں ہیں، سرکنڈے کا دلدلی علاقہ جل رہا ہے، اور فوجی خوف کے مارے بےحس و حرکت ہو گئے ہیں‘۔“

For thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel; The daughter of Babylon is like a threshingfloor, it is time to thresh her: yet a little while, and the time of her harvest shall come.

کیونکہ رب الافواج جو اسرائیل کا خدا ہے فرماتا ہے، ”فصل کی کٹائی سے پہلے پہلے گاہنے کی جگہ کے فرش کو دبا دبا کر مضبوط کیا جاتا ہے۔ یہی بابل بیٹی کی حالت ہے۔ فصل کی کٹائی قریب آ گئی ہے، اور تھوڑی دیر کے بعد بابل کو پاؤں تلے خوب دبایا جائے گا۔

Nebuchadrezzar the king of Babylon hath devoured me, he hath crushed me, he hath made me an empty vessel, he hath swallowed me up like a dragon, he hath filled his belly with my delicates, he hath cast me out.

صیون بیٹی روتی ہے، ’شاہِ بابل نبوکدنضر نے مجھے ہڑپ کر لیا، چوس لیا، خالی برتن کی طرح ایک طرف رکھ دیا ہے۔ اُس نے اژدہے کی طرح مجھے نگل لیا، اپنے پیٹ کو میری لذیذ چیزوں سے بھر لیا ہے۔ پھر اُس نے مجھے وطن سے نکال دیا۔‘

The violence done to me and to my flesh be upon Babylon, shall the inhabitant of Zion say; and my blood upon the inhabitants of Chaldea, shall Jerusalem say.

لیکن اب صیون کی رہنے والی کہے، ’جو زیادتی میرے ساتھ ہوئی وہ بابل کے ساتھ کی جائے۔ جو قتل و غارت مجھ میں ہوئی وہ بابل کے باشندوں میں مچ جائے‘!“

Therefore thus saith the LORD; Behold, I will plead thy cause, and take vengeance for thee; and I will dry up her sea, and make her springs dry.

رب یروشلم سے فرماتا ہے، ”دیکھ، مَیں خود تیرے حق میں لڑوں گا، مَیں خود تیرا بدلہ لوں گا۔ تب اُس کا سمندر خشک ہو جائے گا، اُس کے چشمے بند ہو جائیں گے۔

And Babylon shall become heaps, a dwellingplace for dragons, an astonishment, and an hissing, without an inhabitant.

بابل ملبے کا ڈھیر بن جائے گا۔ گیدڑ ہی اُس میں اپنا گھر بنا لیں گے۔ اُسے دیکھ کر گزرنے والوں کے رونگٹے کھڑے ہو جائیں گے، اور وہ ’توبہ توبہ‘ کہہ کر آگے نکلیں گے۔ کوئی بھی وہاں نہیں بسے گا۔

They shall roar together like lions: they shall yell as lions' whelps.

اِس وقت بابل کے باشندے شیرببر کی طرح دہاڑ رہے ہیں، وہ شیر کے بچوں کی طرح غُرا رہے ہیں۔

In their heat I will make their feasts, and I will make them drunken, that they may rejoice, and sleep a perpetual sleep, and not wake, saith the LORD.

لیکن رب فرماتا ہے کہ وہ ابھی مست ہوں گے کہ مَیں اُن کے لئے ضیافت تیار کروں گا، ایک ایسی ضیافت جس میں وہ متوالے ہو کر خوشی کے نعرے ماریں گے، پھر ابدی نیند سو جائیں گے۔ اُس نیند سے وہ کبھی نہیں اُٹھیں گے۔

I will bring them down like lambs to the slaughter, like rams with he goats.

مَیں اُنہیں بھیڑ کے بچوں، مینڈھوں اور بکروں کی طرح قصائی کے پاس لے جاؤں گا۔

How is Sheshach taken! and how is the praise of the whole earth surprised! how is Babylon become an astonishment among the nations!

ہائے، بابل دشمن کے قبضے میں آ گیا ہے! جس کی تعریف پوری دنیا کرتی تھی وہ چھین لیا گیا ہے! اب اُسے دیکھ کر قوموں کے رونگٹے کھڑے ہو جاتے ہیں۔

The sea is come up upon Babylon: she is covered with the multitude of the waves thereof.

سمندر بابل پر چڑھ آیا ہے، اُس کی گرجتی لہروں نے اُسے ڈھانپ لیا ہے۔

Her cities are a desolation, a dry land, and a wilderness, a land wherein no man dwelleth, neither doth any son of man pass thereby.

اُس کے شہر ریگستان بن گئے ہیں، اب چاروں طرف خشک اور ویران بیابان ہی نظر آتا ہے۔ نہ کوئی اُس میں رہتا، نہ اُس میں سے گزرتا ہے۔

And I will punish Bel in Babylon, and I will bring forth out of his mouth that which he hath swallowed up: and the nations shall not flow together any more unto him: yea, the wall of Babylon shall fall.

مَیں بابل کے دیوتا بیل کو سزا دے کر اُس کے منہ سے وہ کچھ نکال دوں گا جو اُس نے ہڑپ کر لیا تھا۔ اب سے دیگر اقوام جوق در جوق اُس کے پاس نہیں آئیں گی، کیونکہ بابل کی فصیل بھی گر گئی ہے۔

My people, go ye out of the midst of her, and deliver ye every man his soul from the fierce anger of the LORD.

اے میری قوم، بابل سے نکل آ! ہر ایک اپنی جان بچانے کے لئے وہاں سے بھاگ جائے، کیونکہ رب کا شدید غضب اُس پر نازل ہونے کو ہے۔

And lest your heart faint, and ye fear for the rumour that shall be heard in the land; a rumour shall both come one year, and after that in another year shall come a rumour, and violence in the land, ruler against ruler.

جب افواہیں ملک میں پھیل جائیں تو ہمت مت ہارنا، نہ خوف کھانا۔ کیونکہ ہر سال کوئی اَور افواہ پھیلے گی، ظلم پر ظلم اور حکمران پر حکمران آتا رہے گا۔

Therefore, behold, the days come, that I will do judgment upon the graven images of Babylon: and her whole land shall be confounded, and all her slain shall fall in the midst of her.

کیونکہ وہ وقت قریب ہی ہے جب مَیں بابل کے بُتوں کو سزا دوں گا۔ تب پورے ملک کی بےحرمتی ہو جائے گی، اور اُس کے مقتول اُس کے بیچ میں گر کر پڑے رہیں گے۔

Then the heaven and the earth, and all that is therein, shall sing for Babylon: for the spoilers shall come unto her from the north, saith the LORD.

تب آسمان و زمین اور جو کچھ اُن میں ہے بابل پر شادیانہ بجائیں گے۔ کیونکہ تباہ کن دشمن شمال سے اُس پر حملہ کرنے آ رہا ہے۔“ یہ رب کا فرمان ہے۔

As Babylon hath caused the slain of Israel to fall, so at Babylon shall fall the slain of all the earth.

”بابل نے پوری دنیا میں بےشمار لوگوں کو قتل کیا ہے، لیکن اب وہ خود ہلاک ہو جائے گا، اِس لئے کہ اُس نے اِتنے اسرائیلیوں کو قتل کیا ہے۔

Ye that have escaped the sword, go away, stand not still: remember the LORD afar off, and let Jerusalem come into your mind.

اے تلوار سے بچے ہوئے اسرائیلیو، رُکے نہ رہو بلکہ روانہ ہو جاؤ! دُوردراز ملک میں رب کو یاد کرو، یروشلم کا بھی خیال کرو!

We are confounded, because we have heard reproach: shame hath covered our faces: for strangers are come into the sanctuaries of the LORD'S house.

بےشک تم کہتے ہو، ’ہم شرمندہ ہیں، ہماری سخت رُسوائی ہوئی ہے، شرم کے مارے ہم نے اپنے منہ کو ڈھانپ لیا ہے۔ کیونکہ پردیسی رب کے گھر کی مُقدّس ترین جگہوں میں گھس آئے ہیں۔‘

Wherefore, behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that I will do judgment upon her graven images: and through all her land the wounded shall groan.

لیکن رب فرماتا ہے کہ وہ وقت آنے والا ہے جب مَیں بابل کے بُتوں کو سزا دوں گا۔ تب اُس کے پورے ملک میں موت کے گھاٹ اُترنے والوں کی آہیں سنائی دیں گی۔

Though Babylon should mount up to heaven, and though she should fortify the height of her strength, yet from me shall spoilers come unto her, saith the LORD.

خواہ بابل کی طاقت آسمان تک اونچی کیوں نہ ہو، خواہ وہ اپنے بلند قلعے کو کتنا مضبوط کیوں نہ کرے توبھی وہ گر جائے گا۔ مَیں تباہ کرنے والے فوجی اُس پر چڑھا لاؤں گا۔“ یہ رب کا فرمان ہے۔

A sound of a cry cometh from Babylon, and great destruction from the land of the Chaldeans:

”سنو! بابل میں چیخیں بلند ہو رہی ہیں، ملکِ بابل دھڑام سے گر پڑا ہے۔

Because the LORD hath spoiled Babylon, and destroyed out of her the great voice; when her waves do roar like great waters, a noise of their voice is uttered:

کیونکہ رب بابل کو برباد کر رہا، وہ اُس کا شور شرابہ بند کر رہا ہے۔ دشمن کی لہریں متلاطم سمندر کی طرح اُس پر چڑھ رہی ہیں، اُن کی گرجتی آواز فضا میں گونج رہی ہے۔

Because the spoiler is come upon her, even upon Babylon, and her mighty men are taken, every one of their bows is broken: for the LORD God of recompences shall surely requite.

کیونکہ تباہ کن دشمن بابل پر حملہ کرنے آ رہا ہے۔ تب اُس کے سورماؤں کو پکڑا جائے گا اور اُن کی کمانیں ٹوٹ جائیں گی۔ کیونکہ رب انتقام کا خدا ہے، وہ ہر انسان کو اُس کا مناسب اجر دے گا۔“

And I will make drunk her princes, and her wise men, her captains, and her rulers, and her mighty men: and they shall sleep a perpetual sleep, and not wake, saith the King, whose name is the LORD of hosts.

دنیا کا بادشاہ جس کا نام رب الافواج ہے فرماتا ہے، ”مَیں بابل کے بڑوں کو متوالا کروں گا، خواہ وہ بزرگ، دانش مند، گورنر، سرکاری افسر یا فوجی کیوں نہ ہوں۔ تب وہ ابدی نیند سو جائیں گے اور دوبارہ کبھی نہیں اُٹھیں گے۔“

Thus saith the LORD of hosts; The broad walls of Babylon shall be utterly broken, and her high gates shall be burned with fire; and the people shall labour in vain, and the folk in the fire, and they shall be weary.

رب فرماتا ہے، ”بابل کی موٹی موٹی فصیل کو خاک میں ملایا جائے گا، اور اُس کے اونچے اونچے دروازے راکھ ہو جائیں گے۔ تب یہ کہاوت بابل پر صادق آئے گی، ’اقوام کی محنت مشقت بےفائدہ رہی، جو کچھ اُنہوں نے بڑی مشکل سے بنایا وہ نذرِ آتش ہو گیا ہے‘۔“

The word which Jeremiah the prophet commanded Seraiah the son of Neriah, the son of Maaseiah, when he went with Zedekiah the king of Judah into Babylon in the fourth year of his reign. And this Seraiah was a quiet prince.

یہوداہ کے بادشاہ صِدقیاہ کے چوتھے سال میں یرمیاہ نبی نے یہ کلام سرایاہ بن نیریاہ بن محسیاہ کے سپرد کر دیا جو اُس وقت بادشاہ کے ساتھ بابل کے لئے روانہ ہوا۔ سفر کا پورا بندوبست سرایاہ کے ہاتھ میں تھا۔

So Jeremiah wrote in a book all the evil that should come upon Babylon, even all these words that are written against Babylon.

یرمیاہ نے طومار میں بابل پر نازل ہونے والی آفت کی پوری تفصیل لکھ دی تھی۔ اُس کے بابل کے بارے میں تمام پیغامات اُس میں قلم بند تھے۔

And Jeremiah said to Seraiah, When thou comest to Babylon, and shalt see, and shalt read all these words;

اُس نے سرایاہ سے کہا، ”بابل پہنچ کر دھیان سے طومار کی تمام باتوں کی تلاوت کریں۔

Then shalt thou say, O LORD, thou hast spoken against this place, to cut it off, that none shall remain in it, neither man nor beast, but that it shall be desolate for ever.

تب دعا کریں، ’اے رب، تُو نے اعلان کیا ہے کہ مَیں بابل کو یوں تباہ کروں گا کہ آئندہ نہ انسان، نہ حیوان اُس میں بسے گا۔ شہر ابد تک ویران و سنسان رہے گا۔‘

And it shall be, when thou hast made an end of reading this book, that thou shalt bind a stone to it, and cast it into the midst of Euphrates:

پوری کتاب کی تلاوت کے اختتام پر اُسے پتھر کے ساتھ باندھ لیں، پھر دریائے فرات میں پھینک کر

And thou shalt say, Thus shall Babylon sink, and shall not rise from the evil that I will bring upon her: and they shall be weary. Thus far are the words of Jeremiah.

بولیں، ’بابل کا بیڑا اِس پتھر کی طرح غرق ہو جائے گا۔ جو آفت مَیں اُس پر نازل کروں گا اُس سے اُسے یوں خاک میں ملایا جائے گا کہ دوبارہ کبھی نہیں اُٹھے گا۔ وہ سراسر ختم ہو جائے گا‘۔“ یرمیاہ کے پیغامات یہاں اختتام پر پہنچ گئے ہیں۔
