Job 35

एलीहू कहता चला गया। वह बोला:

Elihu spake moreover, and said,

“अय्यूब, यह तेरे लिये कहना उचित नहीं की ‘मैं अय्यूब, परमेश्वर के विरुद्ध न्याय पर है।’

Thinkest thou this to be right, that thou saidst, My righteousness is more than God's?

अय्यूब, तू परमेश्वर से पूछता है कि ‘हे परमेश्वर, मेरा पाप तुझे कैसे हानि पहुँचाता है? और यदि मैं पाप न करुँ तो कौन सी उत्तम वस्तु मुझको मिल जाती है?’

For thou saidst, What advantage will it be unto thee? and, What profit shall I have, if I be cleansed from my sin?

“अय्यूब, मैं (एलीहू) तुझको और तेरे मित्रों को जो यहाँ तेरे साथ हैं उत्तर देना चाहता हूँ।

I will answer thee, and thy companions with thee.

अय्यूब! ऊपर देख आकाश में दृष्टि उठा कि बादल तुझसे अधिक उँचें हैं।

Look unto the heavens, and see; and behold the clouds which are higher than thou.

अय्यूब, यदि तू पाप करें तो परमेश्वर का कुछ नहीं बिगड़ता, और यदि तेरे पाप बहुत हो जायें तो उससे परमेश्वर का कुछ नहीं होता।

If thou sinnest, what doest thou against him? or if thy transgressions be multiplied, what doest thou unto him?

अय्यूब, यदि तू भला है तो इससे परमेश्वर का भला नहीं होता, तुझसे परमेश्वर को कुछ नहीं मिलता।

If thou be righteous, what givest thou him? or what receiveth he of thine hand?

अय्यूब, तेरे पाप स्वयं तुझ जैसे मनुष्य को हानि पहुँचाते हैं, तेरे अच्छे कर्म बस तेरे जैसे मनुष्य का ही भला करते हैं।

Thy wickedness may hurt a man as thou art; and thy righteousness may profit the son of man.

“लोगों के साथ जब अन्याय होता है और बुरा व्यवहार किया जाता है, तो वे मदद को पुकारते हैं, वे बड़े बड़ों की सहायता पाने को दुहाई देते हैं।

By reason of the multitude of oppressions they make the oppressed to cry: they cry out by reason of the arm of the mighty.

किन्तु वे परमेश्वर से सहायता नहीं माँगते। वे नही कहते हैं कि, ‘परमेश्वर जिसने हम को रचा है वह कहाँ है? परमेश्वर जो हताश जन को आशा दिया करता है वह कहाँ है?’

But none saith, Where is God my maker, who giveth songs in the night;

वे ये नहीं कहा करते कि, ‘परमेश्वर जिसने पशु पक्षियों से अधिक बुद्धिमान मनुष्य को बनाया है वह कहाँ है?’

Who teacheth us more than the beasts of the earth, and maketh us wiser than the fowls of heaven?

“किन्तु बुरे लोग अभिमानी होते है, इसलिये यदि वे परमेश्वर की सहायता पाने को दुहाई दें तो उन्हें उत्तर नहीं मिलता है।

There they cry, but none giveth answer, because of the pride of evil men.

यह सच है कि परमेश्वर उनकी व्यर्थ की दुहाई को नहीं सुनेगा। सर्वशक्तिशाली परमेश्वर उन पर ध्यान नहीं देगा।

Surely God will not hear vanity, neither will the Almighty regard it.

अय्यूब, इसी तरह परमेश्वर तेरी नहीं सुनेगा, जब तू यह कहता है कि वह तुझको दिखाई नहीं देता और तू उससे मिलने के अवसर की प्रतीक्षा में है, और यह प्रमाणित करने की तू निर्दोष है।

Although thou sayest thou shalt not see him, yet judgment is before him; therefore trust thou in him.

“अय्यूब, तू सोचता है कि परमेश्वर दुष्टों को दण्ड नहीं देता है और परमेश्वर पाप पर ध्यान नहीं देता है।

But now, because it is not so, he hath visited in his anger; yet he knoweth it not in great extremity:

इसलिये अय्यूब निज व्यर्थ बातें करता रहता है। अय्यूब ऐसा व्यवहार कर रहा है कि जैसे वह महत्वपूर्ण है। किन्तु यह देखना कितना सरल है कि अय्यूब नहीं जानता कि वह क्या कह रहा है।”

Therefore doth Job open his mouth in vain; he multiplieth words without knowledge.
