Matthew 9

E entrando ele num barco, passou para o outro lado, e chegou à sua própria cidade.

And he entered into a ship, and passed over, and came into his own city.

E eis que lhe trouxeram um paralítico deitado num leito. Jesus, pois, vendo-lhes a fé, disse ao paralítico: Filho, tem bom ânimo; teus pecados te são perdoados.

And, behold, they brought to him a man sick of the palsy, lying on a bed: and Jesus seeing their faith said unto the sick of the palsy; Son, be of good cheer; thy sins be forgiven thee.

E eis que alguns dos escribas disseram consigo mesmos: Este homem blasfema.

And, behold, certain of the scribes said within themselves, This man blasphemeth.

Jesus, porém, conhecendo-lhes os pensamentos, disse: Por que pensais o mal em vossos corações?

And Jesus knowing their thoughts said, Wherefore think ye evil in your hearts?

Pois qual é mais fácil? Dizer: Teus pecados te são perdoados, ou dizer: Levanta-te e anda?

For whether is easier, to say, Thy sins be forgiven thee; or to say, Arise, and walk?

Mas para que saibais que o Filho do homem tem sobre a terra poder para perdoar pecados (disse então ao paralítico): Levanta-te, toma o teu leito, e vai para tua casa.

But that ye may know that the Son of man hath power on earth to forgive sins, (then saith he to the sick of the palsy,) Arise, take up thy bed, and go unto thine house.

E ele, levantando-se, partiu para sua casa.

And he arose, and departed to his house.

Vendo isso, as multidões, maravilharam-se, e glorificaram a Deus, que dera tal poder aos homens.

But when the multitudes saw it, they marvelled, and glorified God, which had given such power unto men.

Partindo Jesus dali, viu um homem chamado Mateus sentado na coletoria e disse-lhe: Segue-me! Ele se levantou e o seguiu.

And as Jesus passed forth from thence, he saw a man, named Matthew, sitting at the receipt of custom: and he saith unto him, Follow me. And he arose, and followed him.

Ora, estando ele à mesa em casa, eis que chegaram muitos publicanos e pecadores, e se reclinaram à mesa juntamente com ele e seus discípulos.

And it came to pass, as Jesus sat at meat in the house, behold, many publicans and sinners came and sat down with him and his disciples.

E os fariseus, vendo isso, perguntavam aos discípulos: Por que come o vosso Mestre com publicanos e pecadores?

And when the Pharisees saw it, they said unto his disciples, Why eateth your Master with publicans and sinners?

Jesus, porém, ouvindo isso, disse-lhes: Os sãos não precisam de médico, e sim os doentes.

But when Jesus heard that, he said unto them, They that be whole need not a physician, but they that are sick.

Ide, pois, e aprendei o que significa: Misericórdia quero, e não sacrifícios. Porque eu não vim chamar justos, mas pecadores, ao arrependimento.

But go ye and learn what that meaneth, I will have mercy, and not sacrifice: for I am not come to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.

Então vieram ter com ele os discípulos de João, dizendo: Por que jejuamos nós e os fariseus, frequentemente, mas os teus discípulos não jejuam?

Then came to him the disciples of John, saying, Why do we and the Pharisees fast oft, but thy disciples fast not?

Respondeu-lhes Jesus: Podem porventura ficar tristes os convidados às núpcias, enquanto o noivo está com eles? Dias virão, porém, em que lhes será tirado o noivo, e então hão de jejuar.

And Jesus said unto them, Can the children of the bridechamber mourn, as long as the bridegroom is with them? but the days will come, when the bridegroom shall be taken from them, and then shall they fast.

Ninguém põe remendo de pano novo em veste velha; porque o remendo tira parte da veste, e faz-se maior o buraco.

No man putteth a piece of new cloth unto an old garment, for that which is put in to fill it up taketh from the garment, and the rent is made worse.

Nem se põe vinho novo em odres velhos; do contrário, rompem-se os odres, derrama-se o vinho, e os odres se perdem. Mas põe-se vinho novo em odres novos, e ambos se conservam.

Neither do men put new wine into old bottles: else the bottles break, and the wine runneth out, and the bottles perish: but they put new wine into new bottles, and both are preserved.

Enquanto ainda lhes dizia estas coisas, eis que chegou um chefe e o adorou, dizendo: Minha filha acaba de falecer; mas vem, impõe a tua mão sobre ela, e ela viverá.

While he spake these things unto them, behold, there came a certain ruler, and worshipped him, saying, My daughter is even now dead: but come and lay thy hand upon her, and she shall live.

E Jesus se levantou e o seguiu, e também os seus discípulos.

And Jesus arose, and followed him, and so did his disciples.

E eis que certa mulher, que havia doze anos estava enferma de uma hemorragia, chegou por trás dele e lhe tocou na orla da veste;

And, behold, a woman, which was diseased with an issue of blood twelve years, came behind him, and touched the hem of his garment:

porque dizia consigo mesma: Se eu apenas lhe tocar a veste, ficarei curada.

For she said within herself, If I may but touch his garment, I shall be whole.

Mas Jesus, voltando-se e vendo-a, disse: Filha, tem bom ânimo; a tua fé te curou. E desde aquela hora a mulher ficou curada.

But Jesus turned him about, and when he saw her, he said, Daughter, be of good comfort; thy faith hath made thee whole. And the woman was made whole from that hour.

Quando Jesus chegou à casa daquele chefe, e viu os tocadores de flauta e a multidão em alvoroço,

And when Jesus came into the ruler's house, and saw the minstrels and the people making a noise,

disse: Retirai-vos, porque a menina não está morta, mas dorme. E riam-se dele.

He said unto them, Give place: for the maid is not dead, but sleepeth. And they laughed him to scorn.

Mas, após expulsar o povo, Jesus entrou e tomou-a pela mão, e a menina se levantou.

But when the people were put forth, he went in, and took her by the hand, and the maid arose.

E a fama deste acontecimento correu por toda aquela terra.

And the fame hereof went abroad into all that land.

Partindo Jesus dali, seguiram-no dois cegos, clamando e dizendo: Tem compaixão de nós, Filho de Davi!

And when Jesus departed thence, two blind men followed him, crying, and saying, Thou Son of David, have mercy on us.

Tendo ele entrado em casa, aproximaram-se dele os cegos, e Jesus lhes perguntou: Credes que eu posso fazer isto? E eles lhe disseram: Sim, Senhor!

And when he was come into the house, the blind men came to him: and Jesus saith unto them, Believe ye that I am able to do this? They said unto him, Yea, Lord.

Então lhes tocou os olhos, dizendo: Seja-vos feito segundo a vossa fé.

Then touched he their eyes, saying, According to your faith be it unto you.

E os olhos deles se abriram. E Jesus severamente os advertiu, dizendo: Vede que ninguém o saiba.

And their eyes were opened; and Jesus straitly charged them, saying, See that no man know it.

Porém, saindo eles, divulgaram a sua fama por toda aquela terra.

But they, when they were departed, spread abroad his fame in all that country.

Ao retirarem-se eles, eis que lhe trouxeram um homem mudo e endemoninhado.

As they went out, behold, they brought to him a dumb man possessed with a devil.

E, expelido o demônio, falou o mudo; e as multidões se maravilharam, dizendo: Nunca se viu tal coisa em Israel.

And when the devil was cast out, the dumb spake: and the multitudes marvelled, saying, It was never so seen in Israel.

Os fariseus, porém, diziam: Ele expulsa os demônios pelo príncipe dos demônios.

But the Pharisees said, He casteth out devils through the prince of the devils.

E percorria Jesus todas as cidades e vilas, ensinando nas sinagogas deles, pregando o evangelho do reino, e curando toda enfermidade e toda doença entre o povo.

And Jesus went about all the cities and villages, teaching in their synagogues, and preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing every sickness and every disease among the people.

Vendo ele as multidões, comoveu-se de compaixão por elas, porque andavam cansadas e errantes, como ovelhas que não têm pastor.

But when he saw the multitudes, he was moved with compassion on them, because they fainted, and were scattered abroad, as sheep having no shepherd.

Então disse a seus discípulos: A seara, na verdade, é grande, mas os trabalhadores são poucos.

Then saith he unto his disciples, The harvest truly is plenteous, but the labourers are few;

Rogai, pois, ao Senhor da seara que mande trabalhadores para a sua seara.

Pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he will send forth labourers into his harvest.
