Matthew 8

Quando ele desceu do monte, grandes multidões o seguiam.

When he was come down from the mountain, great multitudes followed him.

E eis que veio um leproso e o adorou, dizendo: Senhor, se quiseres, podes tornar-me limpo.

And, behold, there came a leper and worshipped him, saying, Lord, if thou wilt, thou canst make me clean.

E Jesus estendeu a mão e tocou-o, dizendo: Eu quero, fica limpo! E imediatamente sua lepra foi curada.

And Jesus put forth his hand, and touched him, saying, I will; be thou clean. And immediately his leprosy was cleansed.

Disse-lhe então Jesus: Olha, não contes isto a ninguém; mas vai, mostra-te ao sacerdote, e apresenta a oferta que Moisés ordenou, para lhes servir de testemunho.

And Jesus saith unto him, See thou tell no man; but go thy way, shew thyself to the priest, and offer the gift that Moses commanded, for a testimony unto them.

Tendo Jesus entrado em Cafarnaum, chegou-se a ele um centurião, rogando-lhe,

And when Jesus was entered into Capernaum, there came unto him a centurion, beseeching him,

e dizendo: Senhor, meu servo jaz em casa paralítico, horrivelmente atormentado.

And saying, Lord, my servant lieth at home sick of the palsy, grievously tormented.

Disse-lhe Jesus: Eu irei, e o curarei.

And Jesus saith unto him, I will come and heal him.

O centurião respondeu: Senhor, não sou digno de que entres debaixo do meu telhado; mas somente fala a palavra, e meu servo será curado.

The centurion answered and said, Lord, I am not worthy that thou shouldest come under my roof: but speak the word only, and my servant shall be healed.

Pois também eu sou homem sujeito à autoridade, e tenho soldados às minhas ordens; e digo a este: Vai, e ele vai; e a outro: Vem, e ele vem; e ao meu servo: Faze isto, e ele o faz.

For I am a man under authority, having soldiers under me: and I say to this man, Go, and he goeth; and to another, Come, and he cometh; and to my servant, Do this, and he doeth it.

Jesus, ouvindo isso, maravilhou-se, e disse aos que o seguiam: Em verdade vos digo que não encontrei tamanha fé, não, nem mesmo em Israel.

When Jesus heard it, he marvelled, and said to them that followed, Verily I say unto you, I have not found so great faith, no, not in Israel.

Também vos digo que muitos virão do oriente e do ocidente, e sentar-se-ão com Abraão, Isaque e Jacó, no reino dos céus.

And I say unto you, That many shall come from the east and west, and shall sit down with Abraham, and Isaac, and Jacob, in the kingdom of heaven.

Mas os filhos do reino serão lançados nas trevas exteriores; ali haverá choro e ranger de dentes.

But the children of the kingdom shall be cast out into outer darkness: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.

Então disse Jesus ao centurião: Vai-te, e, assim como creste, te seja feito. E naquela mesma hora o seu criado foi curado.

And Jesus said unto the centurion, Go thy way; and as thou hast believed, so be it done unto thee. And his servant was healed in the selfsame hour.

Ora, tendo Jesus entrado na casa de Pedro, viu a sogra deste acamada e ardendo em febre.

And when Jesus was come into Peter's house, he saw his wife's mother laid, and sick of a fever.

E ele lhe tocou a mão, e a febre a deixou; e ela se levantou e os servia.

And he touched her hand, and the fever left her: and she arose, and ministered unto them.

Chegada a tarde, trouxeram-lhe muitos endemoninhados; e ele com a sua palavra expulsou os espíritos, e curou todos os enfermos;

When the even was come, they brought unto him many that were possessed with devils: and he cast out the spirits with his word, and healed all that were sick:

para que se cumprisse o que fora dito pelo profeta Isaías: Ele tomou sobre si as nossas enfermidades, e levou as nossas doenças.

That it might be fulfilled which was spoken by Esaias the prophet, saying, Himself took our infirmities, and bare our sicknesses.

Vendo Jesus grandes multidões ao seu redor, deu ordem de partir para a outra margem.

Now when Jesus saw great multitudes about him, he gave commandment to depart unto the other side.

E, aproximando-se um certo escriba, disse-lhe: Mestre, seguir-te-ei para onde quer que fores.

And a certain scribe came, and said unto him, Master, I will follow thee whithersoever thou goest.

Respondeu-lhe Jesus: As raposas têm covis, e as aves do céu têm ninhos; mas o Filho do homem não tem onde reclinar a cabeça.

And Jesus saith unto him, The foxes have holes, and the birds of the air have nests; but the Son of man hath not where to lay his head.

E outro de seus discípulos lhe disse: Senhor, permite-me primeiro ir e sepultar a meu pai.

And another of his disciples said unto him, Lord, suffer me first to go and bury my father.

Jesus, porém, lhe respondeu: Segue-me, e deixa os mortos sepultar os seus próprios mortos.

But Jesus said unto him, Follow me; and let the dead bury their dead.

E, entrando ele num barco, seus discípulos o seguiram.

And when he was entered into a ship, his disciples followed him.

E eis que se levantou no mar uma grande tempestade, de sorte que o barco era coberto com as ondas. Ele, porém, dormia.

And, behold, there arose a great tempest in the sea, insomuch that the ship was covered with the waves: but he was asleep.

Os discípulos, pois, aproximaram-se dele e o despertaram, dizendo: Senhor, salva-nos! Estamos perecendo!

And his disciples came to him, and awoke him, saying, Lord, save us: we perish.

E ele lhes diz: Por que temeis, homens de pequena fé? Então, levantou-se e repreendeu os ventos e o mar, e seguiu-se grande calmaria.

And he saith unto them, Why are ye fearful, O ye of little faith? Then he arose, and rebuked the winds and the sea; and there was a great calm.

E aqueles homens se maravilharam, dizendo: Que homem é este, que até os ventos e o mar lhe obedecem?

But the men marvelled, saying, What manner of man is this, that even the winds and the sea obey him!

Tendo ele chegado ao outro lado, à terra dos gadarenos, saíram-lhe ao encontro dois endemoninhados, saindo dentre os sepulcros, tão ferozes, de forma que ninguém podia passar por aquele caminho.

And when he was come to the other side into the country of the Gergesenes, there met him two possessed with devils, coming out of the tombs, exceeding fierce, so that no man might pass by that way.

E eis que gritaram, dizendo: Que temos nós contigo, ó Jesus, Filho de Deus? Vieste aqui atormentar-nos antes do tempo?

And, behold, they cried out, saying, What have we to do with thee, Jesus, thou Son of God? art thou come hither to torment us before the time?

Ora, a uma boa distância deles, andava pastando uma grande manada de porcos.

And there was a good way off from them an herd of many swine feeding.

Então, os demônios lhe rogaram, dizendo: Se nos expulsas, permite-nos partir para aquela manada de porcos.

So the devils besought him, saying, If thou cast us out, suffer us to go away into the herd of swine.

E ele lhes disse: Ide. E havendo eles saído, entraram nos porcos; e eis que toda a manada de porcos se precipitou pelo despenhadeiro para dentro do mar, e pereceram nas águas.

And he said unto them, Go. And when they were come out, they went into the herd of swine: and, behold, the whole herd of swine ran violently down a steep place into the sea, and perished in the waters.

E fugiram os porqueiros, e, chegando à cidade, divulgaram todas estas coisas, e o que acontecera aos endemoninhados.

And they that kept them fled, and went their ways into the city, and told every thing, and what was befallen to the possessed of the devils.

E eis que toda a cidade saiu ao encontro de Jesus; e vendo-o, rogaram-lhe que se retirasse de suas terras.

And, behold, the whole city came out to meet Jesus: and when they saw him, they besought him that he would depart out of their coasts.
