Luke 6

And it came to pass on the second sabbath after the first, that he went through the corn fields; and his disciples plucked the ears of corn, and did eat, rubbing them in their hands.

ایک دن عیسیٰ اناج کے کھیتوں میں سے گزر رہا تھا۔ چلتے چلتے اُس کے شاگرد اناج کی بالیں توڑنے اور اپنے ہاتھوں سے مَل کر کھانے لگے۔ سبت کا دن تھا۔

And certain of the Pharisees said unto them, Why do ye that which is not lawful to do on the sabbath days?

یہ دیکھ کر کچھ فریسیوں نے کہا، ”تم یہ کیوں کر رہے ہو؟ سبت کے دن ایسا کرنا منع ہے۔“

And Jesus answering them said, Have ye not read so much as this, what David did, when himself was an hungred, and they which were with him;

عیسیٰ نے جواب دیا، ”کیا تم نے کبھی نہیں پڑھا کہ داؤد نے کیا کِیا جب اُسے اور اُس کے ساتھیوں کو بھوک لگی تھی؟

How he went into the house of God, and did take and eat the shewbread, and gave also to them that were with him; which it is not lawful to eat but for the priests alone?

وہ اللہ کے گھر میں داخل ہوا اور رب کے لئے مخصوص شدہ روٹیاں لے کر کھائیں، اگرچہ صرف اماموں کو اِنہیں کھانے کی اجازت ہے۔ اور اُس نے اپنے ساتھیوں کو بھی یہ روٹیاں کھلائیں۔“

And he said unto them, That the Son of man is Lord also of the sabbath.

پھر عیسیٰ نے اُن سے کہا، ”ابنِ آدم سبت کا مالک ہے۔“

And it came to pass also on another sabbath, that he entered into the synagogue and taught: and there was a man whose right hand was withered.

سبت کے ایک اَور دن عیسیٰ عبادت خانے میں جا کر سکھانے لگا۔ وہاں ایک آدمی تھا جس کا دہنا ہاتھ سوکھا ہوا تھا۔

And the scribes and Pharisees watched him, whether he would heal on the sabbath day; that they might find an accusation against him.

شریعت کے عالِم اور فریسی بڑے غور سے دیکھ رہے تھے کہ کیا عیسیٰ اِس آدمی کو آج بھی شفا دے گا؟ کیونکہ وہ اُس پر الزام لگانے کا کوئی بہانہ ڈھونڈ رہے تھے۔

But he knew their thoughts, and said to the man which had the withered hand, Rise up, and stand forth in the midst. And he arose and stood forth.

لیکن عیسیٰ نے اُن کی سوچ کو جان لیا اور اُس سوکھے ہاتھ والے آدمی سے کہا، ”اُٹھ، درمیان میں کھڑا ہو۔“ چنانچہ وہ آدمی کھڑا ہوا۔

Then said Jesus unto them, I will ask you one thing; Is it lawful on the sabbath days to do good, or to do evil? to save life, or to destroy it?

پھر عیسیٰ نے اُن سے پوچھا، ”مجھے بتاؤ، شریعت ہمیں سبت کے دن کیا کرنے کی اجازت دیتی ہے، نیک کام کرنے کی یا غلط کام کرنے کی، کسی کی جان بچانے کی یا اُسے تباہ کرنے کی؟“

And looking round about upon them all, he said unto the man, Stretch forth thy hand. And he did so: and his hand was restored whole as the other.

وہ خاموش ہو کر اپنے ارد گرد کے تمام لوگوں کی طرف دیکھنے لگا۔ پھر اُس نے کہا، ”اپنا ہاتھ آگے بڑھا۔“ اُس نے ایسا کیا تو اُس کا ہاتھ بحال ہو گیا۔

And they were filled with madness; and communed one with another what they might do to Jesus.

لیکن وہ آپے میں نہ رہے اور ایک دوسرے سے بات کرنے لگے کہ ہم عیسیٰ سے کس طرح نپٹ سکتے ہیں؟

And it came to pass in those days, that he went out into a mountain to pray, and continued all night in prayer to God.

اُن ہی دنوں میں عیسیٰ نکل کر دعا کرنے کے لئے پہاڑ پر چڑھ گیا۔ دعا کرتے کرتے پوری رات گزر گئی۔

And when it was day, he called unto him his disciples: and of them he chose twelve, whom also he named apostles;

پھر اُس نے اپنے شاگردوں کو اپنے پاس بُلا کر اُن میں سے بارہ کو چن لیا، جنہیں اُس نے اپنے رسول مقرر کیا۔ اُن کے نام یہ ہیں:

Simon, (whom he also named Peter,) and Andrew his brother, James and John, Philip and Bartholomew,

شمعون جس کا لقب اُس نے پطرس رکھا، اُس کا بھائی اندریاس، یعقوب، یوحنا، فلپّس، برتلمائی،

Matthew and Thomas, James the son of Alphæus, and Simon called Zelotes,

متی، توما، یعقوب بن حلفئی، شمعون مجاہد،

And Judas the brother of James, and Judas Iscariot, which also was the traitor.

یہوداہ بن یعقوب اور یہوداہ اسکریوتی جس نے بعد میں اُسے دشمن کے حوالے کر دیا۔

And he came down with them, and stood in the plain, and the company of his disciples, and a great multitude of people out of all Judæa and Jerusalem, and from the sea coast of Tyre and Sidon, which came to hear him, and to be healed of their diseases;

پھر وہ اُن کے ساتھ پہاڑ سے اُتر کر ایک کھلے اور ہموار میدان میں کھڑا ہوا۔ وہاں شاگردوں کی بڑی تعداد نے اُسے گھیر لیا۔ ساتھ ہی بہت سے لوگ یہودیہ، یروشلم اور صور اور صیدا کے ساحلی علاقے سے

And they that were vexed with unclean spirits: and they were healed.

اُس کی تعلیم سننے اور بیماریوں سے شفا پانے کے لئے آئے تھے۔ اور جنہیں بدروحیں تنگ کر رہی تھیں اُنہیں بھی شفا ملی۔

And the whole multitude sought to touch him: for there went virtue out of him, and healed them all.

تمام لوگ اُسے چھونے کی کوشش کر رہے تھے، کیونکہ اُس میں سے قوت نکل کر سب کو شفا دے رہی تھی۔

And he lifted up his eyes on his disciples, and said, Blessed be ye poor: for yours is the kingdom of God.

پھر عیسیٰ نے اپنے شاگردوں کی طرف دیکھ کر کہا، ”مبارک ہو تم جو ضرورت مند ہو، کیونکہ اللہ کی بادشاہی تم کو ہی حاصل ہے۔

Blessed are ye that hunger now: for ye shall be filled. Blessed are ye that weep now: for ye shall laugh.

مبارک ہو تم جو اِس وقت بھوکے ہو، کیونکہ سیر ہو جاؤ گے۔ مبارک ہو تم جو اِس وقت روتے ہو، کیونکہ خوشی سے ہنسو گے۔

Blessed are ye, when men shall hate you, and when they shall separate you from their company, and shall reproach you, and cast out your name as evil, for the Son of man's sake.

مبارک ہو تم جب لوگ اِس لئے تم سے نفرت کرتے اور تمہارا حقہ پانی بند کرتے ہیں کہ تم ابنِ آدم کے پیروکار بن گئے ہو۔ ہاں، مبارک ہو تم جب وہ اِسی وجہ سے تمہیں لعن طعن کرتے اور تمہاری بدنامی کرتے ہیں۔

Rejoice ye in that day, and leap for joy: for, behold, your reward is great in heaven: for in the like manner did their fathers unto the prophets.

جب وہ ایسا کرتے ہیں تو شادمان ہو کر خوشی سے ناچو، کیونکہ آسمان پر تم کو بڑا اجر ملے گا۔ اُن کے باپ دادا نے یہی سلوک نبیوں کے ساتھ کیا تھا۔

But woe unto you that are rich! for ye have received your consolation.

مگر تم پر افسوس جو اب دولت مند ہو، کیونکہ تمہارا سکون یہیں ختم ہو جائے گا۔

Woe unto you that are full! for ye shall hunger. Woe unto you that laugh now! for ye shall mourn and weep.

تم پر افسوس جو اِس وقت خوب سیر ہو، کیونکہ بعد میں تم بھوکے ہو گے۔ تم پر افسوس جو اب ہنس رہے ہو، کیونکہ ایک وقت آئے گا کہ رو رو کر ماتم کرو گے۔

Woe unto you, when all men shall speak well of you! for so did their fathers to the false prophets.

تم پر افسوس جن کی تمام لوگ تعریف کرتے ہیں، کیونکہ اُن کے باپ دادا نے یہی سلوک جھوٹے نبیوں کے ساتھ کیا تھا۔

But I say unto you which hear, Love your enemies, do good to them which hate you,

لیکن تم کو جو سن رہے ہو مَیں یہ بتاتا ہوں، اپنے دشمنوں سے محبت رکھو، اور اُن سے بھلائی کرو جو تم سے نفرت کرتے ہیں۔

Bless them that curse you, and pray for them which despitefully use you.

جو تم پر لعنت کرتے ہیں اُنہیں برکت دو، اور جو تم سے بُرا سلوک کرتے ہیں اُن کے لئے دعا کرو۔

And unto him that smiteth thee on the one cheek offer also the other; and him that taketh away thy cloke forbid not to take thy coat also.

اگر کوئی تمہارے ایک گال پر تھپڑ مارے تو اُسے دوسرا گال بھی پیش کر دو۔ اِسی طرح اگر کوئی تمہاری چادر چھین لے تو اُسے قمیص لینے سے بھی نہ روکو۔

Give to every man that asketh of thee; and of him that taketh away thy goods ask them not again.

جو بھی تم سے کچھ مانگتا ہے اُسے دو۔ اور جس نے تم سے کچھ لیا ہے اُس سے اُسے واپس دینے کا تقاضا نہ کرو۔

And as ye would that men should do to you, do ye also to them likewise.

لوگوں کے ساتھ ویسا سلوک کرو جیسا تم چاہتے ہو کہ وہ تمہارے ساتھ کریں۔

For if ye love them which love you, what thank have ye? for sinners also love those that love them.

اگر تم صرف اُن ہی سے محبت کرو جو تم سے کرتے ہیں تو اِس میں تمہاری کیا خاص مہربانی ہو گی؟ گناہ گار بھی ایسا ہی کرتے ہیں۔

And if ye do good to them which do good to you, what thank have ye? for sinners also do even the same.

اور اگر تم صرف اُن ہی سے بھلائی کرو جو تم سے بھلائی کرتے ہیں تو اِس میں تمہاری کیا خاص مہربانی ہو گی؟ گناہ گار بھی ایسا ہی کرتے ہیں۔

And if ye lend to them of whom ye hope to receive, what thank have ye? for sinners also lend to sinners, to receive as much again.

اِسی طرح اگر تم صرف اُن ہی کو اُدھار دو جن کے بارے میں تمہیں اندازہ ہے کہ وہ واپس کر دیں گے تو اِس میں تمہاری کیا خاص مہربانی ہو گی؟ گناہ گار بھی گناہ گاروں کو اُدھار دیتے ہیں جب اُنہیں سب کچھ واپس ملنے کا یقین ہوتا ہے۔

But love ye your enemies, and do good, and lend, hoping for nothing again; and your reward shall be great, and ye shall be the children of the Highest: for he is kind unto the unthankful and to the evil.

نہیں، اپنے دشمنوں سے محبت کرو اور اُن ہی سے بھلائی کرو۔ اُنہیں اُدھار دو جن کے بارے میں تمہیں واپس ملنے کی اُمید نہیں ہے۔ پھر تم کو بڑا اجر ملے گا اور تم اللہ تعالیٰ کے فرزند ثابت ہو گے، کیونکہ وہ بھی ناشکروں اور بُرے لوگوں پر نیکی کا اظہار کرتا ہے۔

Be ye therefore merciful, as your Father also is merciful.

لازم ہے کہ تم رحم دل ہو کیونکہ تمہارا باپ بھی رحم دل ہے۔

Judge not, and ye shall not be judged: condemn not, and ye shall not be condemned: forgive, and ye shall be forgiven:

دوسروں کی عدالت نہ کرنا تو تمہاری بھی عدالت نہیں کی جائے گی۔ دوسروں کو مجرم قرار نہ دینا تو تم کو بھی مجرم قرار نہیں دیا جائے گا۔ معاف کرو تو تم کو بھی معاف کر دیا جائے گا۔

Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom. For with the same measure that ye mete withal it shall be measured to you again.

دو تو تم کو بھی دیا جائے گا۔ ہاں، جس حساب سے تم نے دیا اُسی حساب سے تم کو دیا جائے گا، بلکہ پیمانہ دبا دبا اور ہلا ہلا کر اور لبریز کر کے تمہاری جھولی میں ڈال دیا جائے گا۔ کیونکہ جس پیمانے سے تم ناپتے ہو اُسی سے تمہارے لئے ناپا جائے گا۔“

And he spake a parable unto them, Can the blind lead the blind? shall they not both fall into the ditch?

پھر عیسیٰ نے یہ مثال پیش کی۔ ”کیا ایک اندھا دوسرے اندھے کی راہنمائی کر سکتا ہے؟ ہرگز نہیں! اگر وہ ایسا کرے تو دونوں گڑھے میں گر جائیں گے۔

The disciple is not above his master: but every one that is perfect shall be as his master.

شاگرد اپنے اُستاد سے بڑا نہیں ہوتا بلکہ جب اُسے پوری ٹریننگ ملی ہو تو وہ اپنے اُستاد ہی کی مانند ہو گا۔

And why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brother's eye, but perceivest not the beam that is in thine own eye?

تُو کیوں غور سے اپنے بھائی کی آنکھ میں پڑے تنکے پر نظر کرتا ہے جبکہ تجھے وہ شہتیر نظر نہیں آتا جو تیری اپنی آنکھ میں ہے؟

Either how canst thou say to thy brother, Brother, let me pull out the mote that is in thine eye, when thou thyself beholdest not the beam that is in thine own eye? Thou hypocrite, cast out first the beam out of thine own eye, and then shalt thou see clearly to pull out the mote that is in thy brother's eye.

تُو کیونکر اپنے بھائی سے کہہ سکتا ہے، ’بھائی، ٹھہرو، مجھے تمہاری آنکھ میں پڑا تنکا نکالنے دو‘ جبکہ تجھے اپنی آنکھ کا شہتیر نظر نہیں آتا؟ ریاکار! پہلے اپنی آنکھ کے شہتیر کو نکال۔ تب ہی تجھے بھائی کا تنکا صاف نظر آئے گا اور تُو اُسے اچھی طرح سے دیکھ کر نکال سکے گا۔

For a good tree bringeth not forth corrupt fruit; neither doth a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit.

نہ اچھا درخت خراب پھل لاتا ہے، نہ خراب درخت اچھا پھل۔

For every tree is known by his own fruit. For of thorns men do not gather figs, nor of a bramble bush gather they grapes.

ہر قسم کا درخت اُس کے پھل سے پہچانا جاتا ہے۔ خاردار جھاڑیوں سے انجیر یا انگور نہیں توڑے جاتے۔

A good man out of the good treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is good; and an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is evil: for of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaketh.

نیک شخص کا اچھا پھل اُس کے دل کے اچھے خزانے سے نکلتا ہے جبکہ بُرے شخص کا خراب پھل اُس کے دل کی بُرائی سے نکلتا ہے۔ کیونکہ جس چیز سے دل بھرا ہوتا ہے وہی چھلک کر منہ سے نکلتی ہے۔

And why call ye me, Lord, Lord, and do not the things which I say?

تم کیوں مجھے ’خداوند، خداوند‘ کہہ کر پکارتے ہو؟ میری بات پر تو تم عمل نہیں کرتے۔

Whosoever cometh to me, and heareth my sayings, and doeth them, I will shew you to whom he is like:

لیکن مَیں تم کو بتاتا ہوں کہ وہ شخص کس کی مانند ہے جو میرے پاس آ کر میری بات سن لیتا اور اُس پر عمل کرتا ہے۔

He is like a man which built an house, and digged deep, and laid the foundation on a rock: and when the flood arose, the stream beat vehemently upon that house, and could not shake it: for it was founded upon a rock.

وہ اُس آدمی کی مانند ہے جس نے اپنا مکان بنانے کے لئے گہری بنیاد کی کھدائی کروائی۔ کھود کھود کر وہ چٹان تک پہنچ گیا۔ اُسی پر اُس نے مکان کی بنیاد رکھی۔ مکان مکمل ہوا تو ایک دن سیلاب آیا۔ زور سے بہتا ہوا پانی مکان سے ٹکرایا، لیکن وہ اُسے ہلا نہ سکا کیونکہ وہ مضبوطی سے بنایا گیا تھا۔

But he that heareth, and doeth not, is like a man that without a foundation built an house upon the earth; against which the stream did beat vehemently, and immediately it fell; and the ruin of that house was great.

لیکن جو میری بات سنتا اور اُس پر عمل نہیں کرتا وہ اُس شخص کی مانند ہے جس نے اپنا مکان بنیاد کے بغیر زمین پر ہی تعمیر کیا۔ جوں ہی زور سے بہتا ہوا پانی اُس سے ٹکرایا تو وہ گر گیا اور سراسر تباہ ہو گیا۔“
