Luke 17

Then said he unto the disciples, It is impossible but that offences will come: but woe unto him, through whom they come!

عیسیٰ نے اپنے شاگردوں سے کہا، ”آزمائشوں کو تو آنا ہی آنا ہے، لیکن اُس پر افسوس جس کی معرفت وہ آئیں۔

It were better for him that a millstone were hanged about his neck, and he cast into the sea, than that he should offend one of these little ones.

اگر وہ اِن چھوٹوں میں سے کسی کو گناہ کرنے پر اُکسائے تو اُس کے لئے بہتر ہے کہ اُس کے گلے میں بڑی چکّی کا پاٹ باندھا جائے اور اُسے سمندر میں پھینک دیا جائے۔

Take heed to yourselves: If thy brother trespass against thee, rebuke him; and if he repent, forgive him.

خبردار رہو! اگر تمہارا بھائی گناہ کرے تو اُسے سمجھاؤ۔ اگر وہ اِس پر توبہ کرے تو اُسے معاف کر دو۔

And if he trespass against thee seven times in a day, and seven times in a day turn again to thee, saying, I repent; thou shalt forgive him.

اب فرض کرو کہ وہ ایک دن کے اندر سات بار تمہارا گناہ کرے، لیکن ہر دفعہ واپس آ کر توبہ کا اظہار کرے، توبھی اُسے ہر دفعہ معاف کر دو۔“

And the apostles said unto the Lord, Increase our faith.

رسولوں نے خداوند سے کہا، ”ہمارے ایمان کو بڑھا دیں۔“

And the Lord said, If ye had faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye might say unto this sycamine tree, Be thou plucked up by the root, and be thou planted in the sea; and it should obey you.

خداوند نے جواب دیا، ”اگر تمہارا ایمان رائی کے دانے جیسا چھوٹا بھی ہو تو تم شہتوت کے اِس درخت کو کہہ سکتے ہو، ’اُکھڑ کر سمندر میں جا لگ‘ تو وہ تمہاری بات پر عمل کرے گا۔

But which of you, having a servant plowing or feeding cattle, will say unto him by and by, when he is come from the field, Go and sit down to meat?

فرض کرو کہ تم میں سے کسی نے ہل چلانے یا جانور چَرانے کے لئے ایک غلام رکھا ہے۔ جب یہ غلام کھیت سے گھر آئے گا تو کیا اُس کا مالک کہے گا، ’اِدھر آؤ، کھانے کے لئے بیٹھ جاؤ‘؟

And will not rather say unto him, Make ready wherewith I may sup, and gird thyself, and serve me, till I have eaten and drunken; and afterward thou shalt eat and drink?

ہرگز نہیں، بلکہ وہ یہ کہے گا، ’میرا کھانا تیار کرو، ڈیوٹی کے کپڑے پہن کر میری خدمت کرو جب تک مَیں کھا پی نہ لوں۔ اِس کے بعد تم بھی کھا اور پی سکو گے۔‘

Doth he thank that servant because he did the things that were commanded him? I trow not.

اور کیا وہ اپنے غلام کی اِس خدمت کا شکریہ ادا کرے گا جو اُس نے اُسے کرنے کو کہا تھا؟ ہرگز نہیں!

So likewise ye, when ye shall have done all those things which are commanded you, say, We are unprofitable servants: we have done that which was our duty to do.

اِسی طرح جب تم سب کچھ جو تمہیں کرنے کو کہا گیا ہے کر چکو تب تم کو یہ کہنا چاہئے، ’ہم نالائق نوکر ہیں۔ ہم نے صرف اپنا فرض ادا کیا ہے‘۔“

And it came to pass, as he went to Jerusalem, that he passed through the midst of Samaria and Galilee.

ایسا ہوا کہ یروشلم کی طرف سفر کرتے کرتے عیسیٰ سامریہ اور گلیل میں سے گزرا۔

And as he entered into a certain village, there met him ten men that were lepers, which stood afar off:

ایک دن وہ کسی گاؤں میں داخل ہو رہا تھا کہ کوڑھ کے دس مریض اُس کو ملنے آئے۔ وہ کچھ فاصلے پر کھڑے ہو کر

And they lifted up their voices, and said, Jesus, Master, have mercy on us.

اونچی آواز سے کہنے لگے، ”اے عیسیٰ، اُستاد، ہم پر رحم کریں۔“

And when he saw them, he said unto them, Go shew yourselves unto the priests. And it came to pass, that, as they went, they were cleansed.

اُس نے اُنہیں دیکھا تو کہا، ”جاؤ، اپنے آپ کو اماموں کو دکھاؤ تاکہ وہ تمہارا معائنہ کریں۔“ اور ایسا ہوا کہ وہ چلتے چلتے اپنی بیماری سے پاک صاف ہو گئے۔

And one of them, when he saw that he was healed, turned back, and with a loud voice glorified God,

اُن میں سے ایک نے جب دیکھا کہ شفا مل گئی ہے تو وہ مُڑ کر اونچی آواز سے اللہ کی تمجید کرنے لگا،

And fell down on his face at his feet, giving him thanks: and he was a Samaritan.

اور عیسیٰ کے سامنے منہ کے بل گر کر شکریہ ادا کیا۔ یہ آدمی سامریہ کا باشندہ تھا۔

And Jesus answering said, Were there not ten cleansed? but where are the nine?

عیسیٰ نے پوچھا، ”کیا دس کے دس آدمی اپنی بیماری سے پاک صاف نہیں ہوئے؟ باقی نو کہاں ہیں؟

There are not found that returned to give glory to God, save this stranger.

کیا اِس غیرملکی کے علاوہ کوئی اَور واپس آ کر اللہ کی تمجید کرنے کے لئے تیار نہیں تھا؟“

And he said unto him, Arise, go thy way: thy faith hath made thee whole.

پھر اُس نے اُس سے کہا، ”اُٹھ کر چلا جا۔ تیرے ایمان نے تجھے بچا لیا ہے۔“

And when he was demanded of the Pharisees, when the kingdom of God should come, he answered them and said, The kingdom of God cometh not with observation:

کچھ فریسیوں نے عیسیٰ سے پوچھا، ”اللہ کی بادشاہی کب آئے گی؟“ اُس نے جواب دیا، ”اللہ کی بادشاہی یوں نہیں آ رہی کہ اُسے ظاہری نشانوں سے پہچانا جائے۔

Neither shall they say, Lo here! or, lo there! for, behold, the kingdom of God is within you.

لوگ یہ بھی نہیں کہہ سکیں گے، ’وہ یہاں ہے‘ یا ’وہ وہاں ہے‘ کیونکہ اللہ کی بادشاہی تمہارے درمیان ہے۔“

And he said unto the disciples, The days will come, when ye shall desire to see one of the days of the Son of man, and ye shall not see it.

پھر اُس نے اپنے شاگردوں سے کہا، ”ایسے دن آئیں گے کہ تم ابنِ آدم کا کم از کم ایک دن دیکھنے کی تمنا کرو گے، لیکن نہیں دیکھو گے۔

And they shall say to you, See here; or, see there: go not after them, nor follow them.

لوگ تم کو بتائیں گے، ’وہ وہاں ہے‘ یا ’وہ یہاں ہے۔‘ لیکن مت جانا اور اُن کے پیچھے نہ لگنا۔

For as the lightning, that lighteneth out of the one part under heaven, shineth unto the other part under heaven; so shall also the Son of man be in his day.

کیونکہ جب ابنِ آدم کا دن آئے گا تو وہ بجلی کی مانند ہو گا جس کی چمک آسمان کو ایک سرے سے لے کر دوسرے سرے تک روشن کر دیتی ہے۔

But first must he suffer many things, and be rejected of this generation.

لیکن پہلے لازم ہے کہ وہ بہت دُکھ اُٹھائے اور اِس نسل کے ہاتھوں رد کیا جائے۔

And as it was in the days of Noe, so shall it be also in the days of the Son of man.

جب ابنِ آدم کا وقت آئے گا تو حالات نوح کے دنوں جیسے ہوں گے۔

They did eat, they drank, they married wives, they were given in marriage, until the day that Noe entered into the ark, and the flood came, and destroyed them all.

لوگ اُس دن تک کھانے پینے اور شادی کرنے کروانے میں لگے رہے جب تک نوح کشتی میں داخل نہ ہو گیا۔ پھر سیلاب نے آ کر اُن سب کو تباہ کر دیا۔

Likewise also as it was in the days of Lot; they did eat, they drank, they bought, they sold, they planted, they builded;

بالکل یہی کچھ لوط کے ایام میں ہوا۔ لوگ کھانے پینے، خرید و فروخت، کاشت کاری اور تعمیر کے کام میں لگے رہے۔

But the same day that Lot went out of Sodom it rained fire and brimstone from heaven, and destroyed them all.

لیکن جب لوط سدوم کو چھوڑ کر نکلا تو آگ اور گندھک نے آسمان سے برس کر اُن سب کو تباہ کر دیا۔

Even thus shall it be in the day when the Son of man is revealed.

ابنِ آدم کے ظہور کے وقت ایسے ہی حالات ہوں گے۔

In that day, he which shall be upon the housetop, and his stuff in the house, let him not come down to take it away: and he that is in the field, let him likewise not return back.

جو شخص اُس دن چھت پر ہو وہ گھر کا سامان ساتھ لے جانے کے لئے نیچے نہ اُترے۔ اِسی طرح جو کھیت میں ہو وہ اپنے پیچھے پڑی چیزوں کو ساتھ لے جانے کے لئے گھر نہ لوٹے۔

Remember Lot's wife.

لوط کی بیوی کو یاد رکھو۔

Whosoever shall seek to save his life shall lose it; and whosoever shall lose his life shall preserve it.

جو اپنی جان بچانے کی کوشش کرے گا وہ اُسے کھو دے گا، اور جو اپنی جان کھو دے گا وہی اُسے بچائے رکھے گا۔

I tell you, in that night there shall be two men in one bed; the one shall be taken, and the other shall be left.

مَیں تم کو بتاتا ہوں کہ اُس رات دو افراد ایک بستر میں سوئے ہوں گے، ایک کو ساتھ لے لیا جائے گا جبکہ دوسرے کو پیچھے چھوڑ دیا جائے گا۔

Two women shall be grinding together; the one shall be taken, and the other left.

دو خواتین چکّی پر گندم پیس رہی ہوں گی، ایک کو ساتھ لے لیا جائے گا جبکہ دوسری کو پیچھے چھوڑ دیا جائے گا۔

Two men shall be in the field; the one shall be taken, and the other left.

[دو افراد کھیت میں ہوں گے، ایک کو ساتھ لے لیا جائے گا جبکہ دوسرے کو پیچھے چھوڑ دیا جائے گا۔]“

And they answered and said unto him, Where, Lord? And he said unto them, Wheresoever the body is, thither will the eagles be gathered together.

اُنہوں نے پوچھا، ”خداوند، یہ کہاں ہو گا؟“ اُس نے جواب دیا، ”جہاں لاش پڑی ہو وہاں گِدھ جمع ہو جائیں گے۔“
