II Samuel 23

Now these be the last words of David. David the son of Jesse said, and the man who was raised up on high, the anointed of the God of Jacob, and the sweet psalmist of Israel, said,

درجِ ذیل داؤد کے آخری الفاظ ہیں: ”داؤد بن یسّی کا فرمان جسے اللہ نے سرفراز کیا، جسے یعقوب کے خدا نے مسح کر کے بادشاہ بنا دیا تھا، اور جس کی تعریف اسرائیل کے گیت کرتے ہیں،

The Spirit of the LORD spake by me, and his word was in my tongue.

رب کے روح نے میری معرفت بات کی، اُس کا فرمان میری زبان پر تھا۔

The God of Israel said, the Rock of Israel spake to me, He that ruleth over men must be just, ruling in the fear of God.

اسرائیل کے خدا نے فرمایا، اسرائیل کی چٹان مجھ سے ہم کلام ہوئی، ’جو انصاف سے حکومت کرتا ہے، جو اللہ کا خوف مان کر حکمرانی کرتا ہے،

And he shall be as the light of the morning, when the sun riseth, even a morning without clouds; as the tender grass springing out of the earth by clear shining after rain.

وہ صبح کی روشنی کی مانند ہے، اُس طلوعِ آفتاب کی مانند جب بادل چھائے نہیں ہوتے۔ جب اُس کی کرنیں بارش کے بعد زمین پر پڑتی ہیں تو پودے پھوٹ نکلتے ہیں۔‘

Although my house be not so with God; yet he hath made with me an everlasting covenant, ordered in all things, and sure: for this is all my salvation, and all my desire, although he make it not to grow.

یقیناً میرا گھرانا مضبوطی سے اللہ کے ساتھ ہے، کیونکہ اُس نے میرے ساتھ ابدی عہد باندھا ہے، ایسا عہد جس کا ہر پہلو منظم اور محفوظ ہے۔ وہ میری نجات تکمیل تک پہنچائے گا اور میری ہر آرزو پوری کرے گا۔

But the sons of Belial shall be all of them as thorns thrust away, because they cannot be taken with hands:

لیکن بےدین خاردار جھاڑیوں کی مانند ہیں جو ہَوا کے جھونکوں سے اِدھر اُدھر بکھر گئی ہیں۔ کانٹوں کی وجہ سے کوئی بھی ہاتھ نہیں لگاتا۔

But the man that shall touch them must be fenced with iron and the staff of a spear; and they shall be utterly burned with fire in the same place.

لوگ اُنہیں لوہے کے اوزار یا نیزے کے دستے سے جمع کر کے وہیں کے وہیں جلا دیتے ہیں۔“

These be the names of the mighty men whom David had: The Tachmonite that sat in the seat, chief among the captains; the same was Adino the Eznite: he lift up his spear against eight hundred, whom he slew at one time.

درجِ ذیل داؤد کے سورماؤں کی فہرست ہے۔ جو تین افسر یوآب کے بھائی ابی شے کے عین بعد آتے تھے اُن میں یوشیب بشیبت تحکمونی پہلے نمبر پر آتا تھا۔ ایک بار اُس نے اپنے نیزے سے 800 آدمیوں کو مار دیا۔

And after him was Eleazar the son of Dodo the Ahohite, one of the three mighty men with David, when they defied the Philistines that were there gathered together to battle, and the men of Israel were gone away:

اِن تین افسروں میں سے دوسری جگہ پر اِلی عزر بن دودو بن اخوحی آتا تھا۔ ایک جنگ میں جب اُنہوں نے فلستیوں کو چیلنج دیا تھا اور اسرائیلی بعد میں پیچھے ہٹ گئے تو اِلی عزر داؤد کے ساتھ

He arose, and smote the Philistines until his hand was weary, and his hand clave unto the sword: and the LORD wrought a great victory that day; and the people returned after him only to spoil.

فلستیوں کا مقابلہ کرتا رہا۔ اُس دن وہ فلستیوں کو مارتے مارتے اِتنا تھک گیاکہ آخرکار تلوار اُٹھا نہ سکا بلکہ ہاتھ تلوار کے ساتھ جم گیا۔ رب نے اُس کی معرفت بڑی فتح بخشی۔ باقی دستے صرف لاشوں کو لُوٹنے کے لئے لوٹ آئے۔

And after him was Shammah the son of Agee the Hararite. And the Philistines were gathered together into a troop, where was a piece of ground full of lentiles: and the people fled from the Philistines.

اُس کے بعد تیسری جگہ پر سمّہ بن اجی ہراری آتا تھا۔ ایک مرتبہ فلستی لحی کے قریب مسور کے کھیت میں اسرائیل کے خلاف لڑ رہے تھے۔ اسرائیلی فوجی اُن کے سامنے بھاگنے لگے،

But he stood in the midst of the ground, and defended it, and slew the Philistines: and the LORD wrought a great victory.

لیکن سمّہ کھیت کے درمیان تک بڑھ گیا اور وہاں لڑتے لڑتے فلستیوں کو شکست دی۔ رب نے اُس کی معرفت بڑی فتح بخشی۔

And three of the thirty chief went down, and came to David in the harvest time unto the cave of Adullam: and the troop of the Philistines pitched in the valley of Rephaim.

ایک اَور جنگ کے دوران داؤد عدُلام کے غار کے پہاڑی قلعے میں تھا جبکہ فلستی فوج نے وادیِ رفائیم میں اپنی لشکرگاہ لگائی تھی۔ اُن کے دستوں نے بیت لحم پر بھی قبضہ کر لیا تھا۔ فصل کا موسم تھا۔ داؤد کے تیس اعلیٰ افسروں میں سے تین اُس سے ملنے آئے۔

And David was then in an hold, and the garrison of the Philistines was then in Beth–lehem.

ایک اَور جنگ کے دوران داؤد عدُلام کے غار کے پہاڑی قلعے میں تھا جبکہ فلستی فوج نے وادیِ رفائیم میں اپنی لشکرگاہ لگائی تھی۔ اُن کے دستوں نے بیت لحم پر بھی قبضہ کر لیا تھا۔ فصل کا موسم تھا۔ داؤد کے تیس اعلیٰ افسروں میں سے تین اُس سے ملنے آئے۔

And David longed, and said, Oh that one would give me drink of the water of the well of Beth–lehem, which is by the gate!

داؤد کو شدید پیاس لگی، اور وہ کہنے لگا، ”کون میرے لئے بیت لحم کے دروازے پر کے حوض سے کچھ پانی لائے گا؟“

And the three mighty men brake through the host of the Philistines, and drew water out of the well of Beth–lehem, that was by the gate, and took it, and brought it to David: nevertheless he would not drink thereof, but poured it out unto the LORD.

یہ سن کر تینوں افسر فلستیوں کی لشکرگاہ پر حملہ کر کے اُس میں گھس گئے اور لڑتے لڑتے بیت لحم کے حوض تک پہنچ گئے۔ اُس سے کچھ پانی بھر کر وہ اُسے داؤد کے پاس لے آئے۔ لیکن اُس نے پینے سے انکار کر دیا بلکہ اُسے قربانی کے طور پر اُنڈیل کر رب کو پیش کیا

And he said, Be it far from me, O LORD, that I should do this: is not this the blood of the men that went in jeopardy of their lives? therefore he would not drink it. These things did these three mighty men.

اور بولا، ”رب نہ کرے کہ مَیں یہ پانی پیؤں۔ اگر ایسا کرتا تو اُن آدمیوں کا خون پیتا جو اپنی جان پر کھیل کر پانی لائے ہیں۔“ اِس لئے وہ اُسے پینا نہیں چاہتا تھا۔ یہ اِن تین سورماؤں کے زبردست کاموں کی ایک مثال ہے۔

And Abishai, the brother of Joab, the son of Zeruiah, was chief among three. And he lifted up his spear against three hundred, and slew them, and had the name among three.

یوآب بن ضرویاہ کا بھائی ابی شے مذکورہ تین سورماؤں پر مقرر تھا۔ ایک دفعہ اُس نے اپنے نیزے سے 300 آدمیوں کو مار ڈالا۔ تینوں کی نسبت اُس کی دُگنی عزت کی جاتی تھی، لیکن وہ خود اُن میں گنا نہیں جاتا تھا۔

Was he not most honourable of three? therefore he was their captain: howbeit he attained not unto the first three.

یوآب بن ضرویاہ کا بھائی ابی شے مذکورہ تین سورماؤں پر مقرر تھا۔ ایک دفعہ اُس نے اپنے نیزے سے 300 آدمیوں کو مار ڈالا۔ تینوں کی نسبت اُس کی دُگنی عزت کی جاتی تھی، لیکن وہ خود اُن میں گنا نہیں جاتا تھا۔

And Benaiah the son of Jehoiada, the son of a valiant man, of Kabzeel, who had done many acts, he slew two lionlike men of Moab: he went down also and slew a lion in the midst of a pit in time of snow:

بِنایاہ بن یہویدع بھی زبردست فوجی تھا۔ وہ قبضئیل کا رہنے والا تھا، اور اُس نے بہت دفعہ اپنی مردانگی دکھائی۔ موآب کے دو بڑے سورما اُس کے ہاتھوں ہلاک ہوئے۔ ایک بار جب بہت برف پڑ گئی تو اُس نے ایک حوض میں اُتر کر ایک شیرببر کو مار ڈالا جو اُس میں گر گیا تھا۔

And he slew an Egyptian, a goodly man: and the Egyptian had a spear in his hand; but he went down to him with a staff, and plucked the spear out of the Egyptian's hand, and slew him with his own spear.

ایک اَور موقع پر اُس کا واسطہ ایک دیو جیسے مصری سے پڑا۔ مصری کے ہاتھ میں نیزہ تھا جبکہ اُس کے پاس صرف لاٹھی تھی۔ لیکن بِنایاہ نے اُس پر حملہ کر کے اُس کے ہاتھ سے نیزہ چھین لیا اور اُسے اُس کے اپنے ہتھیار سے مار ڈالا۔

These things did Benaiah the son of Jehoiada, and had the name among three mighty men.

ایسی بہادری دکھانے کی بنا پر بِنایاہ بن یہویدع مذکورہ تین آدمیوں کے برابر مشہور ہوا۔

He was more honourable than the thirty, but he attained not to the first three. And David set him over his guard.

تیس افسروں کے دیگر مردوں کی نسبت اُس کی زیادہ عزت کی جاتی تھی، لیکن وہ مذکورہ تین آدمیوں میں گنا نہیں جاتا تھا۔ داؤد نے اُسے اپنے محافظوں پر مقرر کیا۔

Asahel the brother of Joab was one of the thirty; Elhanan the son of Dodo of Beth–lehem,

ذیل کے آدمی بادشاہ کے 30 سورماؤں میں شامل تھے۔ یوآب کا بھائی عساہیل، بیت لحم کا اِلحنان بن دودو،

Shammah the Harodite, Elika the Harodite,

سمّہ حرودی، اِلیقہ حرودی،

Helez the Paltite, Ira the son of Ikkesh the Tekoite,

خلِص فلطی، تقوع کا عیرا بن عقیس،

Abiezer the Anethothite, Mebunnai the Hushathite,

عنتوت کا ابی عزر، مبونی حوساتی،

Zalmon the Ahohite, Maharai the Netophathite,

ضلمون اخوحی، مَہری نطوفاتی،

Heleb the son of Baanah, a Netophathite, Ittai the son of Ribai out of Gibeah of the children of Benjamin,

حلِب بن بعنہ نطوفاتی، بن یمینی شہر جِبعہ کا اِتّی بن ریبی،

Benaiah the Pirathonite, Hiddai of the brooks of Gaash,

بِنایاہ فِرعاتونی، نحلے جعس کا ہِدّی،

Abi–albon the Arbathite, Azmaveth the Barhumite,

ابی علبون عرباتی، عزماوت برحومی،

Eliahba the Shaalbonite, of the sons of Jashen, Jonathan,

اِلیَحبا سعلبونی، بنی یسین، یونتن بن سمّہ ہراری، اخی آم بن سرار ہراری،

Shammah the Hararite, Ahiam the son of Sharar the Hararite,

اِلیَحبا سعلبونی، بنی یسین، یونتن بن سمّہ ہراری، اخی آم بن سرار ہراری،

Eliphelet the son of Ahasbai, the son of the Maachathite, Eliam the son of Ahithophel the Gilonite,

اِلی فلط بن احسبی معکاتی، اِلی عام بن اخی تُفل جلونی،

Hezrai the Carmelite, Paarai the Arbite,

حصرو کرملی، فعری اربی،

Igal the son of Nathan of Zobah, Bani the Gadite,

ضوباہ کا اِجال بن ناتن، بانی جادی،

Zelek the Ammonite, Naharai the Beerothite, armourbearer to Joab the son of Zeruiah,

صِلق عمونی، یوآب بن ضرویاہ کا سلاح بردار نحری بیروتی،

Ira an Ithrite, Gareb an Ithrite,

عیرا اِتری، جریب اِتری

Uriah the Hittite: thirty and seven in all.

اور اُوریاہ حِتّی۔ آدمیوں کی کُل تعداد 37 تھی۔
