Ephesians 2

And you hath he quickened, who were dead in trespasses and sins;

Ja myös (herätti) teidät, kuin te kuolleet olitte ylitsekäymisten ja syntein tähden,

Wherein in time past ye walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience:

Joissa te muinen vaelsitte, tämän maailman juoksun jälkeen ja sen pääruhtinaan, jolla tuulessa valta on, nimittäin sen hengen jälkeen, joka nyt epäuskoisissa lapsissa vaikuttaa,

Among whom also we all had our conversation in times past in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind; and were by nature the children of wrath, even as others.

Joiden seassa me myös kaikki muinen meidän lihamme himoissa vaelsimme ja teimme lihan ja toimen tahdon jälkeen, ja me olimme luonnostamme vihan lapset niinkuin muutkin.

But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us,

Mutta Jumala, joka rikas on laupiudesta, suuren rakkautensa tähden, jolla hän on meitä rakastanut,

Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;)

Ja kuin me vielä synnissä kuolleet olimme, on hän meitä Kristuksen kanssa eläväksi tehnyt; (sillä armosta olette te autuaiksi tulleet:)

And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus:

Ja on meidät ynnä hänen kanssansa herättänyt, ja istuttanut taivaallisiin menoihin Kristuksessa Jesuksessa,

That in the ages to come he might shew the exceeding riches of his grace in his kindness toward us through Christ Jesus.

Että hän tulevaisilla ajoilla ylönpalttisen armonsa rikkauden hyvyydestänsä meidän kohtaamme Kristuksessa Jesuksessa osoittais.

For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:

Sillä armosta te olette autuaiksi tulleet, uskon kautta, ja ette itse teissänne: Jumalan lahja se on:

Not of works, lest any man should boast.

Ei töistä, ettei yksikään kerskaisi.

For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.

Sillä me olemme hänen tekonsa, luodut Kristuksessa Jesuksessa hyviin töihin, joihin Jumala meidät on jo ennen vaeltamaan valmistanut.

Wherefore remember, that ye being in time past Gentiles in the flesh, who are called Uncircumcision by that which is called the Circumcision in the flesh made by hands;

Sentähden muistakaat, että te olitte muinen pakanat lihan jälkeen, ja niiltä kutsuttiin esinahaksi, jotka lihan jälkeen ympärileikkaukseksi kutsuttiin, joka käsillä tehdään,

That at that time ye were without Christ, being aliens from the commonwealth of Israel, and strangers from the covenants of promise, having no hope, and without God in the world:

Että te siihen aikaan ilman Kristusta olitte muukalaiset Israelin kyläkunnasta, ja vieraat lupauksen Testamentista, ja ei teillä toivoakaan ollut, ja olitte maailmassa ilman Jumalaa;

But now in Christ Jesus ye who sometimes were far off are made nigh by the blood of Christ.

Mutta nyt te Kristuksessa Jesuksessa olette. Jotka muinen taampana olitte, nyt te Kristuksen veren kautta olette lähes päässeet;

For he is our peace, who hath made both one, and hath broken down the middle wall of partition between us;

Sillä hän on meidän rauhamme, joka molemmista on yhden tehnyt ja vaihe-aidan särkenyt,

Having abolished in his flesh the enmity, even the law of commandments contained in ordinances; for to make in himself of twain one new man, so making peace;

Että hän lihansa kautta vihan otti pois, nimittäin lain, joka käskyihin päätetty oli; että hän kahdesta yhden uuden ihmisen lois itsessänsä, ja tekis rauhan,

And that he might reconcile both unto God in one body by the cross, having slain the enmity thereby:

Ja että hän ne molemmat Jumalan kanssa yhdessä ruumiissa ristin kautta sovittais, ja on vihan itse kauttansa kuolettanut,

And came and preached peace to you which were afar off, and to them that were nigh.

Ja on tullut evankeliumin kautta rauhaa ilmoittamaan teille, jotka taampana olitte, ja niille, jotka läsnä olivat.

For through him we both have access by one Spirit unto the Father.

Sillä hänen kauttansa me molemmin yhdessä hengessä saamme Isää lähestyä.

Now therefore ye are no more strangers and foreigners, but fellowcitizens with the saints, and of the household of God;

Niin ettepä te silleen ole vieraat ja muukalaiset, vaan pyhäin kylänmiehet ja Jumalan perhe,

And are built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the chief corner stone;

Apostolein ja prophetain perustuksen päälle rakennetut, jossa Jesus Kristus paras kulmakivi on,

In whom all the building fitly framed together groweth unto an holy temple in the Lord:

Jonka päälle kaikki rakennus toinen toiseensa liitetään ja kasvaa pyhäksi templiksi Herrassa,

In whom ye also are builded together for an habitation of God through the Spirit.

Jonka päälle te myös rakennetaan Jumalalle asuinsiaksi Hengessä.
