Job 32

آن سه دوست ایّوب دیگر جوابی نداشتند که به او بدهند، زیرا او خودش را بی‌گناه می‌دانست.

So these three men ceased to answer Job, because he was righteous in his own eyes.

آنگاه شخصی به نام الیهو، پسر برکئیل بوزی، از خاندان رام، که در آنجا حاضر بود خشمگین شد، چون ایّوب خود را بی‌گناه می‌دانست و خدا را متّهم می‌کرد.

Then was kindled the wrath of Elihu the son of Barachel the Buzite, of the kindred of Ram: against Job was his wrath kindled, because he justified himself rather than God.

او همچنین بر آن سه دوست ایّوب خشمگین بود؛ زیرا هرچند جواب درستی نداشتند تا ایّوب را قانع کنند که گناهکار است، او را محکوم می‌ساختند.

Also against his three friends was his wrath kindled, because they had found no answer, and yet had condemned Job.

الیهو تا آن لحظه صبر کرده و به ایّوب جوابی نداده بود، چون دیگران از او بزرگتر بودند.

Now Elihu had waited till Job had spoken, because they were elder than he.

ولی وقتی دید که آنها ساکت مانده‌اند، خشمگین شد.

When Elihu saw that there was no answer in the mouth of these three men, then his wrath was kindled.

پس الیهو رشتهٔ سخن را به دست گرفته گفت: چون من جوانتر از شما هستم، بنابراین ترسیدم که اظهار عقیده کنم.

And Elihu the son of Barachel the Buzite answered and said, I am young, and ye are very old; wherefore I was afraid, and durst not shew you mine opinion.

به خود گفتم که شما پیرترید و باید از روی تجربهٔ سالهای عمر خود با حکمت سخن بگویید.

I said, Days should speak, and multitude of years should teach wisdom.

امّا این روح خدای قادر مطلق است که به انسان حکمت می‌بخشد،

But there is a spirit in man: and the inspiration of the Almighty giveth them understanding.

سن و سال نیست که به ما حکمت می‌آموزد یا کمک می‌کند که بفهمیم چه چیزی درست است.

Great men are not always wise: neither do the aged understand judgment.

پس حالا به من گوش بدهید، تا نظر خود را برای شما بیان کنم.

Therefore I said, Hearken to me; I also will shew mine opinion.

من با صبر و دقّت به سخنان و دلایل شما گوش دادم، امّا هیچ‌کدام شما نتوانستید جواب قانع کننده‌ای به ایّوب بدهید و ثابت کنید که او گناهکار است.

Behold, I waited for your words; I gave ear to your reasons, whilst ye searched out what to say.

من با صبر و دقّت به سخنان و دلایل شما گوش دادم، امّا هیچ‌کدام شما نتوانستید جواب قانع کننده‌ای به ایّوب بدهید و ثابت کنید که او گناهکار است.

Yea, I attended unto you, and, behold, there was none of you that convinced Job, or that answered his words:

نگویید که ما حکیم هستیم و تنها خدا می‌تواند گناهکار را به‌خاطر گناهش مقصّر بداند.

Lest ye should say, We have found out wisdom: God thrusteth him down, not man.

ایّوب با شما صحبت می‌کرد نه با من. اگر با من صحبت می‌کرد، طور دیگری به او جواب می‌دادم.

Now he hath not directed his words against me: neither will I answer him with your speeches.

شما دیگر جرأت ندارید که جوابی بدهید یا حرفی بزنید.

They were amazed, they answered no more: they left off speaking.

اکنون چون شما سکوت کرده‌اید، من نمی‌توانم خاموش بنشینم و چیزی نگویم.

When I had waited, (for they spake not, but stood still, and answered no more;)

من می‌خواهم حرف خود را بزنم و عقیدهٔ خود را بیان کنم،

I said, I will answer also my part, I also will shew mine opinion.

زیرا حرفهای زیادی برای گفتن دارم و دیگر نمی‌توانم صبر کنم.

For I am full of matter, the spirit within me constraineth me.

دل من مثل مَشکِ شراب پُر و نزدیک به ترکیدن است.

Behold, my belly is as wine which hath no vent; it is ready to burst like new bottles.

تا حرف نزنم آرام نمی‌گیرم، پس باید حرف بزنم.

I will speak, that I may be refreshed: I will open my lips and answer.

من از کسی طرفداری نمی‌کنم و از روی چاپلوسی حرف نمی‌زنم،

Let me not, I pray you, accept any man's person, neither let me give flattering titles unto man.

زیرا اگر تملّق و چاپلوسی کنم، خالقم به حیات من خاتمه می‌دهد.

For I know not to give flattering titles; in so doing my maker would soon take me away.
