Genesis 19

در غروب ‌آن‌ روز وقتی آن‌ دو فرشته‌ وارد سدوم‌ شدند، لوط‌ بر دروازهٔ شهر نشسته ‌بود. همین ‌كه ‌آنها را دید برخاست‌ و به ‌طرف‌ آنها رفت ‌تا از ایشان ‌استقبال‌ كند. او در مقابل‌ آنان ‌تعظیم‌ كرد و گفت‌:

And there came two angels to Sodom at even; and Lot sat in the gate of Sodom: and Lot seeing them rose up to meet them; and he bowed himself with his face toward the ground;

«ای آقایان‌، من‌ در خدمت ‌شما هستم‌. لطفاً به ‌خانهٔ من ‌بیایید. شما می‌توانید پاهای خود را بشویید و شب ‌را بگذرانید. صبح ‌زود بلند شوید و به ‌راه‌ خود بروید.» امّا آنها جواب ‌دادند: «نه‌، ما شب‌ را اینجا، در میدان‌ شهر می‌گذرانیم‌.»

And he said, Behold now, my lords, turn in, I pray you, into your servant's house, and tarry all night, and wash your feet, and ye shall rise up early, and go on your ways. And they said, Nay; but we will abide in the street all night.

لوط ‌به‌ خواهش‌ خود ادامه ‌داد تا سرانجام‌ آنها به ‌خانهٔ او رفتند. پس ‌برای مهمانان ‌مقداری نان ‌پخت ‌و غذای خوبی تدارک ‌دید. وقتی غذا حاضر شد، آنها خوردند.

And he pressed upon them greatly; and they turned in unto him, and entered into his house; and he made them a feast, and did bake unleavened bread, and they did eat.

قبل ‌از اینكه‌ مهمانان ‌بخوابند، مردهای ‌سدوم‌ خانه ‌را محاصره‌ كردند. تمام‌ مردهای‌ شهر پیر و جوان ‌در آنجا جمع‌ شده ‌بودند.

But before they lay down, the men of the city, even the men of Sodom, compassed the house round, both old and young, all the people from every quarter:

آنها لوط ‌را صدا می‌كردند كه‌ بیرون‌ بیاید و می‌پرسیدند: «آن ‌مردانی كه‌ آمده‌اند تا امشب ‌در خانهٔ تو بمانند، كجا هستند؟ آنها را بیرون ‌بیاور.» آنها می‌خواستند با این ‌مردان ‌رابطهٔ جنسی داشته ‌باشند.

And they called unto Lot, and said unto him, Where are the men which came in to thee this night? bring them out unto us, that we may know them.

لوط ‌بیرون ‌رفت ‌و در را از پشت‌ بست‌.

And Lot went out at the door unto them, and shut the door after him,

او به ‌مردم‌ گفت‌: «دوستان‌، من ‌از شما خواهش‌ می‌كنم‌ این‌قدر شرارت‌ نكنید.

And said, I pray you, brethren, do not so wickedly.

ببینید، من‌ دو دختر دارم‌ كه ‌هنوز باكره‌ هستند. بگذارید آنها را نزد شما بیاورم ‌و هرچه ‌می‌خواهید با آنان‌ انجام‌ دهید ولی با این‌ مردان‌ كاری نداشته‌ باشید. ایشان‌ در خانهٔ من‌ مهمان ‌هستند و من‌ باید از آنها مراقبت‌ كنم‌.»

Behold now, I have two daughters which have not known man; let me, I pray you, bring them out unto you, and do ye to them as is good in your eyes: only unto these men do nothing; for therefore came they under the shadow of my roof.

امّا آنها گفتند: «از سر راه ‌ما كنار برو، ای اجنبی! تو كیستی كه ‌به‌ ما بگویی باید چه‌كار بكنیم‌؟ از سر راه ‌ما كنار برو، وگرنه با تو از آنها بدتر می‌كنیم‌.» آنها بر لوط ‌هجوم‌ بردند و می‌خواستند در را بشكنند.

And they said, Stand back. And they said again, This one fellow came in to sojourn, and he will needs be a judge: now will we deal worse with thee, than with them. And they pressed sore upon the man, even Lot, and came near to break the door.

امّا آن ‌دو مرد كه ‌داخل‌ خانه ‌بودند بیرون‌ آمدند و لوط ‌را به ‌داخل ‌خانه ‌كشیدند و در را بستند.

But the men put forth their hand, and pulled Lot into the house to them, and shut to the door.

سپس ‌تمام‌ كسانی را كه ‌بیرون‌ در جمع‌ شده ‌بودند به‌ كوری مبتلا كردند. پس‌ آنها نمی‌توانستند در را پیدا كنند.

And they smote the men that were at the door of the house with blindness, both small and great: so that they wearied themselves to find the door.

آن‌ دو مرد به ‌لوط ‌گفتند: «اگر تو كسی را در اینجا داری‌، یعنی پسر، دختر، داماد و هر قوم‌ و خویشی كه‌ در این‌ شهر زندگی می‌كنند، آنها را از اینجا بیرون‌ ببر،

And the men said unto Lot, Hast thou here any besides? son in law, and thy sons, and thy daughters, and whatsoever thou hast in the city, bring them out of this place:

زیرا ما می‌خواهیم ‌اینجا را نابود كنیم‌. خداوند شكایتهای شدیدی را كه‌ علیه‌ مردم ‌این ‌شهر می‌شود، شنیده ‌است‌ و ما را فرستاده ‌است‌ تا سدوم‌ را نابود كنیم‌.»

For we will destroy this place, because the cry of them is waxen great before the face of the LORD; and the LORD hath sent us to destroy it.

پس ‌لوط‌ به ‌نزد دامادهای خود رفت ‌و به‌ ایشان‌ گفت‌: «عجله‌ كنید، از اینجا خارج‌ شوید، خداوند می‌خواهد این ‌مكان ‌را نابود كند.» امّا آنها خیال‌ كردند كه ‌لوط‌ شوخی می‌كند.

And Lot went out, and spake unto his sons in law, which married his daughters, and said, Up, get you out of this place; for the LORD will destroy this city. But he seemed as one that mocked unto his sons in law.

سپیده‌دم‌ فرشته‌ها ‌به ‌لوط‌ گفتند كه‌ عجله ‌كند. آنها گفتند: «زن ‌و دو دختر خود را بردار و بیرون‌ برو تا وقتی این‌ شهر نابود می‌شود، تو زندگی خود را از دست ‌ندهی‌.»

And when the morning arose, then the angels hastened Lot, saying, Arise, take thy wife, and thy two daughters, which are here; lest thou be consumed in the iniquity of the city.

لوط‌ دو دل‌ بود ولی خداوند بر او رحمت‌ كرده ‌بود. پس‌ آن ‌مردان ‌دست‌ او و زنش ‌و دو دخترش‌ را گرفتند و از شهر بیرون ‌كردند.

And while he lingered, the men laid hold upon his hand, and upon the hand of his wife, and upon the hand of his two daughters; the LORD being merciful unto him: and they brought him forth, and set him without the city.

یكی از فرشته‌ها گفت‌: «به‌خاطر حفظ‌ جان‌ خودتان ‌فرار كنید و پشت ‌سر خود را نگاه‌ نكنید و در دشت‌ نایستید بلكه ‌به‌ كوهها فرار كنید تا هلاک‌ نشوید.»

And it came to pass, when they had brought them forth abroad, that he said, Escape for thy life; look not behind thee, neither stay thou in all the plain; escape to the mountain, lest thou be consumed.

لوط ‌در جواب‌ گفت‌: «ای آقایان‌، از ما نخواهید كه‌ این‌كار را بكنیم‌،

And Lot said unto them, Oh, not so, my Lord:

شما به‌ من ‌لطف‌ بزرگی كرده‌اید و زندگی مرا نجات ‌داده‌اید، امّا آن ‌كوهها خیلی دور است‌ و من‌ نمی‌توانم‌ خود را به ‌آنجا برسانم ‌و قبل‌ از اینكه ‌به‌ آنجا برسم ‌هلاک‌ می‌شوم‌.

Behold now, thy servant hath found grace in thy sight, and thou hast magnified thy mercy, which thou hast shewed unto me in saving my life; and I cannot escape to the mountain, lest some evil take me, and I die:

آن ‌شهر كوچک ‌را می‌بینید؟ آن ‌خیلی نزدیک‌ است‌. اجازه ‌بدهید به‌ آنجا بروم‌. همان‌طور كه‌ می‌بینید آنجا خیلی كوچک‌ است‌ و من ‌نجات‌ خواهم‌ یافت‌.»

Behold now, this city is near to flee unto, and it is a little one: Oh, let me escape thither, (is it not a little one?) and my soul shall live.

فرشته ‌جواب‌ داد: «بسیار خوب‌، من‌ موافقم‌. آن‌ شهر را خراب ‌نخواهم‌ كرد.

And he said unto him, See, I have accepted thee concerning this thing also, that I will not overthrow this city, for the which thou hast spoken.

عجله ‌كن‌، تند برو، من‌ قبل‌ از اینكه‌ تو به‌ آن‌ شهر برسی كاری نمی‌توانم ‌بكنم‌.» چونكه ‌لوط‌ گفت ‌آن ‌شهر كوچک‌ است‌، آن ‌شهر صوغر نامیده‌ شد.

Haste thee, escape thither; for I cannot do any thing till thou be come thither. Therefore the name of the city was called Zoar.

وقتی لوط‌ به‌ صوغر رسید آفتاب‌ تازه‌ طلوع‌ می‌كرد.

The sun was risen upon the earth when Lot entered into Zoar.

ناگهان‌ خداوند آتشی از گوگرد بر شهر سدوم ‌و غموره‌ بارانید.

Then the LORD rained upon Sodom and upon Gomorrah brimstone and fire from the LORD out of heaven;

خداوند سدوم‌ و غموره ‌و تمام‌ دشتهای آن را با مردم‌ و هر گیاهی كه ‌در آنجا روییده می‌شد، ویران‌ كرد.

And he overthrew those cities, and all the plain, and all the inhabitants of the cities, and that which grew upon the ground.

امّا زن‌ لوط ‌به‌ عقب ‌نگاه ‌كرد و به ‌یک ‌ستون ‌نمک‌ تبدیل ‌شد.

But his wife looked back from behind him, and she became a pillar of salt.

صبح‌ روز بعد ابراهیم‌ بلند شد و با شتاب ‌به‌ جایی كه ‌در مقابل‌ خداوند ایستاده‌ بود، رفت‌.

And Abraham gat up early in the morning to the place where he stood before the LORD:

او به‌ طرف‌ سدوم ‌و غموره‌ و دشتهای آن ‌نگاه‌ كرد و دید كه ‌از آن ‌قسمت‌ دودی مانند دود كورهٔ بزرگ‌ به ‌هوا بلند می‌شود.

And he looked toward Sodom and Gomorrah, and toward all the land of the plain, and beheld, and, lo, the smoke of the country went up as the smoke of a furnace.

امّا وقتی كه‌ خداوند شهرهای آن ‌دشتی را كه‌ لوط‌ در آنها زندگی می‌كرد ویران‌ نمود، ابراهیم ‌را به‌خاطر داشت‌ و لوط ‌را از آن ‌بلا نجات ‌داد.

And it came to pass, when God destroyed the cities of the plain, that God remembered Abraham, and sent Lot out of the midst of the overthrow, when he overthrew the cities in the which Lot dwelt.

لوط‌ چون ‌ترسید در صوغر زندگی كند، با دو دختر خود به ‌طرف ‌كوه‌ رفت‌ و در یک ‌غار زندگی كردند.

And Lot went up out of Zoar, and dwelt in the mountain, and his two daughters with him; for he feared to dwell in Zoar: and he dwelt in a cave, he and his two daughters.

دختر بزرگتر به‌ خواهرش ‌گفت‌: «پدر ما پیر شده ‌و مرد دیگری در تمام‌ دنیا نیست‌ كه‌ با ما ازدواج‌ كند تا بچّه‌دار شویم‌.

And the firstborn said unto the younger, Our father is old, and there is not a man in the earth to come in unto us after the manner of all the earth:

بیا پدر خود را مست‌ كنیم‌ و با او همخواب ‌شویم‌ تا از او بچّه‌دار شویم‌.»

Come, let us make our father drink wine, and we will lie with him, that we may preserve seed of our father.

آن‌ شب ‌آنها آن‌قدر به ‌او شراب ‌دادند تا مست ‌شد. سپس‌ دختر بزرگتر با او همخواب‌ شد. امّا لوط ‌آن‌قدر مست‌ بود كه‌ نفهمید چه ‌اتّفاقی افتاده‌ است‌.

And they made their father drink wine that night: and the firstborn went in, and lay with her father; and he perceived not when she lay down, nor when she arose.

روز بعد دختر بزرگتر به‌ خواهرش‌ گفت‌: «من‌ دیشب‌ با پدرم ‌همخواب‌ شدم‌. بیا امشب ‌هم ‌او را مست‌ كنیم‌ و تو با او هم‌آغوش ‌شو، به‌ این ‌ترتیب ‌هریک از ما از پدرمان‌ صاحب ‌بچّه‌ می‌شویم‌.»

And it came to pass on the morrow, that the firstborn said unto the younger, Behold, I lay yesternight with my father: let us make him drink wine this night also; and go thou in, and lie with him, that we may preserve seed of our father.

پس آن ‌شب ‌هم ‌او را مست‌ كردند و دختر كوچک‌تر با او خوابید. باز هم‌ او آن‌قدر مست ‌بود كه ‌چیزی نفهمید.

And they made their father drink wine that night also: and the younger arose, and lay with him; and he perceived not when she lay down, nor when she arose.

به‌ این‌ ترتیب ‌هر دو دختر از پدر خود حامله‌ شدند.

Thus were both the daughters of Lot with child by their father.

دختر بزرگ ‌پسری زایید و اسم‌ او را موآب ‌گذاشت‌. این ‌پسر جدّ موآبیان‌ امروز است‌.

And the firstborn bare a son, and called his name Moab: the same is the father of the Moabites unto this day.

دختر كوچک‌ هم ‌پسری زایید و اسم ‌او را بنی‌عَمی گذاشت‌. او جدّ عمونیان ‌امروز است‌.

And the younger, she also bare a son, and called his name Ben–ammi: the same is the father of the children of Ammon unto this day.
