Proverbs 27

Не се хвали с утрешния ден, защото не знаеш какво ще роди денят.
Boast not thyself of to morrow; for thou knowest not what a day may bring forth.
Нека те хвали друг, а не устата ти — чужд, а не устните ти.
Let another man praise thee, and not thine own mouth; a stranger, and not thine own lips.
Камъкът е тежък и пясъкът — товар, но гневът на безумния е по-тежък и от двете.
A stone is heavy, and the sand weighty; but a fool's wrath is heavier than them both.
Яростта е жестока и гневът — наводнение, но кой може да устои пред ревността?
Wrath is cruel, and anger is outrageous; but who is able to stand before envy?
По-добре открито изобличение, отколкото скрита любов.
Open rebuke is better than secret love.
Раните от приятел са искрени, а целувките от неприятел — изобилни.
Faithful are the wounds of a friend; but the kisses of an enemy are deceitful.
Наситена душа стъпква медена пита, а на гладна душа всичко горчиво е сладко.
The full soul loatheth an honeycomb; but to the hungry soul every bitter thing is sweet.

As a bird that wandereth from her nest, so is a man that wandereth from his place.

Ointment and perfume rejoice the heart: so doth the sweetness of a man's friend by hearty counsel.
Не изоставяй приятеля си и приятеля на баща си и не отивай в дома на брат си в деня на нещастието си — по-добре близък съсед, отколкото далечен брат.
Thine own friend, and thy father's friend, forsake not; neither go into thy brother's house in the day of thy calamity: for better is a neighbour that is near than a brother far off.
Сине мой, бъди мъдър и радвай сърцето ми, за да мога да отговарям на онзи, който ме хули.
My son, be wise, and make my heart glad, that I may answer him that reproacheth me.
Благоразумният вижда нещастието и се скрива, а простите вървят напред и плащат.
A prudent man foreseeth the evil, and hideth himself; but the simple pass on, and are punished.
Вземи дрехата на този, който става поръчител за чужд човек, вземи му залог заради чужденците.
Take his garment that is surety for a stranger, and take a pledge of him for a strange woman.
Който става рано и благославя на висок глас ближния си, ще му се счете, като че го кълне.
He that blesseth his friend with a loud voice, rising early in the morning, it shall be counted a curse to him.
Неспирен капчук в дъждовен ден и свадлива жена си приличат —
A continual dropping in a very rainy day and a contentious woman are alike.
който я обуздава, обуздава вятъра и хваща масло с десницата си.
Whosoever hideth her hideth the wind, and the ointment of his right hand, which bewrayeth itself.
Както желязо остри желязо, така и човек остри лицето на приятеля си.
Iron sharpeneth iron; so a man sharpeneth the countenance of his friend.
Който пази смокинята, ще яде плода й и който внимава за господаря си, ще бъде почитан.
Whoso keepeth the fig tree shall eat the fruit thereof: so he that waiteth on his master shall be honoured.
Както във водата лицето отразява лицето, така и сърцето на човека отразява човека.
As in water face answereth to face, so the heart of man to man.
Шеол и Авадон никога не се насищат, така и човешките очи никога не се насищат.
Hell and destruction are never full; so the eyes of man are never satisfied.
Топилнята за среброто и пещта за златото, а човек — според хвалбата си.
As the fining pot for silver, and the furnace for gold; so is a man to his praise.
Дори и да счукаш безумния в хаван със счукано жито, пак безумието му няма да се отдели от него.
Though thou shouldest bray a fool in a mortar among wheat with a pestle, yet will not his foolishness depart from him.
Внимавай да познаваш добре състоянието на стадата си и имай грижа за добитъка си,
Be thou diligent to know the state of thy flocks, and look well to thy herds.
защото запасите не са вечни и короната за всички поколения ли е?
For riches are not for ever: and doth the crown endure to every generation?
Когато сеното е прибрано, зелената трева се е показала и планинските билки са събрани,
The hay appeareth, and the tender grass sheweth itself, and herbs of the mountains are gathered.
агнетата ти осигуряват облеклото и козлите — цената на полето,
The lambs are for thy clothing, and the goats are the price of the field.
и ще има достатъчно козе мляко за храната ти, за храната на домочадието ти и за изхранването на слугините ти.
And thou shalt have goats' milk enough for thy food, for the food of thy household, and for the maintenance for thy maidens.
