John 2

تیسرے دن گلیل کے گاؤں قانا میں ایک شادی ہوئی۔ عیسیٰ کی ماں وہاں تھی

And the third day there was a marriage in Cana of Galilee; and the mother of Jesus was there:

اور عیسیٰ اور اُس کے شاگردوں کو بھی دعوت دی گئی تھی۔

And both Jesus was called, and his disciples, to the marriage.

مَے ختم ہو گئی تو عیسیٰ کی ماں نے اُس سے کہا، ”اُن کے پاس مَے نہیں رہی۔“

And when they wanted wine, the mother of Jesus saith unto him, They have no wine.

عیسیٰ نے جواب دیا، ”اے خاتون، میرا آپ سے کیا واسطہ؟ میرا وقت ابھی نہیں آیا۔“

Jesus saith unto her, Woman, what have I to do with thee? mine hour is not yet come.

لیکن اُس کی ماں نے نوکروں کو بتایا، ”جو کچھ وہ تم کو بتائے وہ کرو۔“

His mother saith unto the servants, Whatsoever he saith unto you, do it.

وہاں پتھر کے چھ مٹکے پڑے تھے جنہیں یہودی دینی غسل کے لئے استعمال کرتے تھے۔ ہر ایک میں تقریباً 100 لٹر کی گنجائش تھی۔

And there were set there six waterpots of stone, after the manner of the purifying of the Jews, containing two or three firkins apiece.

عیسیٰ نے نوکروں سے کہا، ”مٹکوں کو پانی سے بھر دو۔“ چنانچہ اُنہوں نے اُنہیں لبالب بھر دیا۔

Jesus saith unto them, Fill the waterpots with water. And they filled them up to the brim.

پھر اُس نے کہا، ”اب کچھ نکال کر ضیافت کا انتظام چلانے والے کے پاس لے جاؤ۔“ اُنہوں نے ایسا ہی کیا۔

And he saith unto them, Draw out now, and bear unto the governor of the feast. And they bare it.

جوں ہی ضیافت کا انتظام چلانے والے نے وہ پانی چکھا جو مَے میں بدل گیا تھا تو اُس نے دُولھے کو بُلایا۔ (اُسے معلوم نہ تھا کہ یہ کہاں سے آئی ہے، اگرچہ اُن نوکروں کو پتا تھا جو اُسے نکال کر لائے تھے۔)

When the ruler of the feast had tasted the water that was made wine, and knew not whence it was: (but the servants which drew the water knew;) the governor of the feast called the bridegroom,

اُس نے کہا، ”ہر میزبان پہلے اچھی قسم کی مَے پینے کے لئے پیش کرتا ہے۔ پھر جب لوگوں کو نشہ چڑھنے لگے تو وہ نسبتاً گھٹیا قسم کی مَے پلانے لگتا ہے۔ لیکن آپ نے اچھی مَے اب تک رکھ چھوڑی ہے۔“

And saith unto him, Every man at the beginning doth set forth good wine; and when men have well drunk, then that which is worse: but thou hast kept the good wine until now.

یوں عیسیٰ نے گلیل کے قانا میں یہ پہلا الٰہی نشان دکھا کر اپنے جلال کا اظہار کیا۔ یہ دیکھ کر اُس کے شاگرد اُس پر ایمان لائے۔

This beginning of miracles did Jesus in Cana of Galilee, and manifested forth his glory; and his disciples believed on him.

اِس کے بعد وہ اپنی ماں، اپنے بھائیوں اور اپنے شاگردوں کے ساتھ کفرنحوم کو چلا گیا۔ وہاں وہ تھوڑے دن رہے۔

After this he went down to Capernaum, he, and his mother, and his brethren, and his disciples: and they continued there not many days.

جب یہودی عیدِ فسح قریب آ گئی تو عیسیٰ یروشلم چلا گیا۔

And the Jews' passover was at hand, and Jesus went up to Jerusalem,

بیت المُقدّس میں جا کر اُس نے دیکھا کہ کئی لوگ اُس میں گائےبَیل، بھیڑیں اور کبوتر بیچ رہے ہیں۔ دوسرے میز پر بیٹھے غیرملکی سِکے بیت المُقدّس کے سِکوں میں بدل رہے ہیں۔

And found in the temple those that sold oxen and sheep and doves, and the changers of money sitting:

پھر عیسیٰ نے رسّیوں کا کوڑا بنا کر سب کو بیت المُقدّس سے نکال دیا۔ اُس نے بھیڑوں اور گائےبَیلوں کو باہر ہانک دیا، پیسے بدلنے والوں کے سِکے بکھیر دیئے اور اُن کی میزیں اُلٹ دیں۔

And when he had made a scourge of small cords, he drove them all out of the temple, and the sheep, and the oxen; and poured out the changers' money, and overthrew the tables;

کبوتر بیچنے والوں کو اُس نے کہا، ”اِسے لے جاؤ۔ میرے باپ کے گھر کو منڈی میں مت بدلو۔“

And said unto them that sold doves, Take these things hence; make not my Father's house an house of merchandise.

یہ دیکھ کر عیسیٰ کے شاگردوں کو کلامِ مُقدّس کا یہ حوالہ یاد آیا کہ ”تیرے گھر کی غیرت مجھے کھا جائے گی۔“

And his disciples remembered that it was written, The zeal of thine house hath eaten me up.

یہودیوں نے جواب میں پوچھا، ”آپ ہمیں کیا الٰہی نشان دکھا سکتے ہیں تاکہ ہمیں یقین آئے کہ آپ کو یہ کرنے کا اختیار ہے؟“

Then answered the Jews and said unto him, What sign shewest thou unto us, seeing that thou doest these things?

عیسیٰ نے جواب دیا، ”اِس مقدِس کو ڈھا دو تو مَیں اِسے تین دن کے اندر دوبارہ تعمیر کر دوں گا۔“

Jesus answered and said unto them, Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up.

یہودیوں نے کہا، ”بیت المُقدّس کو تعمیر کرنے میں 46 سال لگ گئے تھے اور آپ اِسے تین دن میں تعمیر کرنا چاہتے ہیں؟“

Then said the Jews, Forty and six years was this temple in building, and wilt thou rear it up in three days?

لیکن جب عیسیٰ نے ”اِس مقدِس“ کے الفاظ استعمال کئے تو اِس کا مطلب اُس کا اپنا بدن تھا۔

But he spake of the temple of his body.

اُس کے مُردوں میں سے جی اُٹھنے کے بعد اُس کے شاگردوں کو اُس کی یہ بات یاد آئی۔ پھر وہ کلامِ مُقدّس اور اُن باتوں پر ایمان لائے جو عیسیٰ نے کی تھیں۔

When therefore he was risen from the dead, his disciples remembered that he had said this unto them; and they believed the scripture, and the word which Jesus had said.

جب عیسیٰ فسح کی عید کے لئے یروشلم میں تھا تو بہت سے لوگ اُس کے پیش کردہ الٰہی نشانوں کو دیکھ کر اُس کے نام پر ایمان لانے لگے۔

Now when he was in Jerusalem at the passover, in the feast day, many believed in his name, when they saw the miracles which he did.

لیکن اُس کو اُن پر اعتماد نہیں تھا، کیونکہ وہ سب کو جانتا تھا۔

But Jesus did not commit himself unto them, because he knew all men,

اور اُسے انسان کے بارے میں کسی کی گواہی کی ضرورت نہیں تھی، کیونکہ وہ جانتا تھا کہ انسان کے اندر کیا کچھ ہے۔

And needed not that any should testify of man: for he knew what was in man.
