Jeremiah 48

Against Moab thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel; Woe unto Nebo! for it is spoiled: Kiriathaim is confounded and taken: Misgab is confounded and dismayed.

موآب کے بارے میں رب الافواج جو اسرائیل کا خدا ہے فرماتا ہے، ”نبو شہر پر افسوس، کیونکہ وہ تباہ ہو گیا ہے۔ دشمن نے قِریَتائم کی بےحرمتی کر کے اُس پر قبضہ کر لیا ہے۔ چٹان کے قلعے کی رُسوائی ہو گئی، وہ پاش پاش ہو گیا ہے۔

There shall be no more praise of Moab: in Heshbon they have devised evil against it; come, and let us cut it off from being a nation. Also thou shalt be cut down, O Madmen; the sword shall pursue thee.

اب سے کوئی موآب کی تعریف نہیں کرے گا۔ حسبون میں آدمی اُس کی شکست کی سازشیں کر کے کہہ رہے ہیں، ’آؤ، ہم موآبی قوم کو نیست و نابود کریں۔‘ اے مدمین، تُو بھی تباہ ہو جائے گا، تلوار تیرے بھی پیچھے پڑ جائے گی۔

A voice of crying shall be from Horonaim, spoiling and great destruction.

سنو! حورونائم سے چیخیں بلند ہو رہی ہیں۔ تباہی اور بڑی شکست کا شور مچ رہا ہے۔

Moab is destroyed; her little ones have caused a cry to be heard.

موآب چُور چُور ہو گیا ہے، اُس کے بچے زور سے چلّا رہے ہیں۔

For in the going up of Luhith continual weeping shall go up; for in the going down of Horonaim the enemies have heard a cry of destruction.

لوگ روتے روتے لوحیت کی طرف چڑھ رہے ہیں۔ حورونائم کی طرف اُترتے راستے پر شکست کی آہ و زاری سنائی دے رہی ہے۔

Flee, save your lives, and be like the heath in the wilderness.

بھاگ کر اپنی جان بچاؤ! ریگستان میں جھاڑی کی مانند بن جاؤ۔

For because thou hast trusted in thy works and in thy treasures, thou shalt also be taken: and Chemosh shall go forth into captivity with his priests and his princes together.

چونکہ تم موآبیوں نے اپنی کامیابیوں اور دولت پر بھروسا رکھا، اِس لئے تم بھی قید میں جاؤ گے۔ تمہارا دیوتا کموس بھی اپنے پجاریوں اور بزرگوں سمیت جلاوطن ہو جائے گا۔

And the spoiler shall come upon every city, and no city shall escape: the valley also shall perish, and the plain shall be destroyed, as the LORD hath spoken.

تباہ کرنے والا ہر شہر پر حملہ کرے گا، ایک بھی نہیں بچے گا۔ جس طرح رب نے فرمایا ہے، وادی بھی تباہ ہو جائے گی اور میدانِ مرتفع بھی۔

Give wings unto Moab, that it may flee and get away: for the cities thereof shall be desolate, without any to dwell therein.

موآب پر نمک ڈال دو، کیونکہ وہ مسمار ہو جائے گا۔ اُس کے شہر ویران و سنسان ہو جائیں گے، اور اُن میں کوئی نہیں بسے گا۔

Cursed be he that doeth the work of the LORD deceitfully, and cursed be he that keepeth back his sword from blood.

اُس پر لعنت جو سُستی سے رب کا کام کرے! اُس پر لعنت جو اپنی تلوار کو خون بہانے سے روک لے!

Moab hath been at ease from his youth, and he hath settled on his lees, and hath not been emptied from vessel to vessel, neither hath he gone into captivity: therefore his taste remained in him, and his scent is not changed.

اپنی جوانی سے لے کر آج تک موآب آرام و سکون کی زندگی گزارتا آیا ہے، اُس مَے کی مانند جو کبھی نہیں چھیڑی گئی اور کبھی ایک برتن سے دوسرے میں اُنڈیلی نہیں گئی۔ اِس لئے اُس کا مزہ قائم اور ذائقہ بہترین رہا ہے۔“

Therefore, behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that I will send unto him wanderers, that shall cause him to wander, and shall empty his vessels, and break their bottles.

لیکن رب فرماتا ہے، ”وہ دن آنے والا ہے جب مَیں ایسے آدمیوں کو اُس کے پاس بھیجوں گا جو مَے کو برتنوں سے نکال کر ضائع کر دیں گے، اور برتنوں کو خالی کرنے کے بعد پاش پاش کر دیں گے۔

And Moab shall be ashamed of Chemosh, as the house of Israel was ashamed of Beth–el their confidence.

تب موآب کو اپنے دیوتا کموس پر یوں شرم آئے گی جس طرح اسرائیل کو بیت ایل کے اُس بُت پر شرم آئی جس پر وہ بھروسا رکھتا تھا۔

How say ye, We are mighty and strong men for the war?

ہائے، تم اپنے آپ پر کتنا فخر کرتے ہو کہ ہم سورمے اور زبردست جنگجو ہیں۔

Moab is spoiled, and gone up out of her cities, and his chosen young men are gone down to the slaughter, saith the King, whose name is the LORD of hosts.

لیکن دنیا کا بادشاہ جس کا نام رب الافواج ہے فرماتا ہے کہ موآب تباہ ہو جائے گا، اور دشمن اُس کے شہروں میں گھس آئے گا۔ اُس کے بہترین جوان قتل و غارت کی زد میں آ کر ہلاک ہو جائیں گے۔

The calamity of Moab is near to come, and his affliction hasteth fast.

موآب کا انجام قریب ہی ہے، آفت اُس پر نازل ہونے والی ہے۔

All ye that are about him, bemoan him; and all ye that know his name, say, How is the strong staff broken, and the beautiful rod!

اے پڑوس میں بسنے والو، اُس پر ماتم کرو! جتنے اُس کی شہرت جانتے ہو آہ و زاری کرو۔ بولو، ’ہائے، موآب کا زوردار عصائے شاہی ٹوٹ گیا ہے، اُس کی شان و شوکت کی علامت خاک میں ملائی گئی ہے۔‘

Thou daughter that dost inhabit Dibon, come down from thy glory, and sit in thirst; for the spoiler of Moab shall come upon thee, and he shall destroy thy strong holds.

اے دیبون بیٹی، اپنے شاندار تخت پر سے اُتر کر پیاسی زمین پر بیٹھ جا۔ کیونکہ موآب کو تباہ کرنے والا تیرے خلاف بھی چڑھ آئے گا، وہ تیرے قلعہ بند شہروں کو بھی مسمار کرے گا۔

O inhabitant of Aroer, stand by the way, and espy; ask him that fleeth, and her that escapeth, and say, What is done?

اے عروعیرکی رہنے والی، سڑک کے کنارے کھڑی ہو کر گزرنے والوں پر غور کر! اپنی جان بچانے والوں سے پوچھ لے کہ کیا ہوا ہے۔

Moab is confounded; for it is broken down: howl and cry; tell ye it in Arnon, that Moab is spoiled,

تب تجھے جواب ملے گا، ’موآب رُسوا ہوا ہے، وہ پاش پاش ہو گیا ہے۔ بلند آواز سے واویلا کرو! دریائے ارنون کے کنارے اعلان کرو کہ موآب ختم ہے۔‘

And judgment is come upon the plain country; upon Holon, and upon Jahazah, and upon Mephaath,

میدانِ مرتفع پر اللہ کی عدالت نازل ہوئی ہے۔ حَولون، یہض، مِفعت،

And upon Dibon, and upon Nebo, and upon Beth–diblathaim,

دیبون، نبو، بیت دِبلاتائم،

And upon Kiriathaim, and upon Beth–gamul, and upon Beth–meon,

قِریَتائم، بیت جمول، بیت معون،

And upon Kerioth, and upon Bozrah, and upon all the cities of the land of Moab, far or near.

قریوت اور بُصرہ، غرض موآب کے تمام شہروں کی عدالت ہوئی ہے، خواہ وہ دُور ہوں یا قریب۔“

The horn of Moab is cut off, and his arm is broken, saith the LORD.

رب فرماتا ہے، ”موآب کی طاقت ٹوٹ گئی ہے، اُس کا بازو پاش پاش ہو گیا ہے۔

Make ye him drunken: for he magnified himself against the LORD: Moab also shall wallow in his vomit, and he also shall be in derision.

اُسے مَے پلا پلا کر متوالا کرو، وہ اپنی قَے میں لوٹ پوٹ ہو کر سب کے لئے مذاق کا نشانہ بن جائے۔ کیونکہ وہ مغرور ہو کر رب کے خلاف کھڑا ہو گیا ہے۔

For was not Israel a derision unto thee? was he found among thieves? for since thou spakest of him, thou skippedst for joy.

تم موآبیوں نے اسرائیل کو اپنے مذاق کا نشانہ بنایا تھا۔ تم یوں اُسے گالیاں دیتے رہے جیسے اُسے چوری کرتے وقت پکڑا گیا ہو۔

O ye that dwell in Moab, leave the cities, and dwell in the rock, and be like the dove that maketh her nest in the sides of the hole's mouth.

لیکن اب تمہاری باری آ گئی ہے۔ اپنے شہروں کو چھوڑ کر چٹانوں میں جا بسو! کبوتر بن کر چٹانوں کی دراڑوں میں اپنے گھونسلے بناؤ۔

We have heard the pride of Moab, (he is exceeding proud) his loftiness, and his arrogancy, and his pride, and the haughtiness of his heart.

ہم نے موآب کے تکبر کے بارے میں سنا ہے، کیونکہ وہ حد سے زیادہ متکبر، مغرور، گھمنڈی، خودپسند اور اناپرست ہے۔“

I know his wrath, saith the LORD; but it shall not be so; his lies shall not so effect it.

رب فرماتا ہے، ”مَیں اُس کے تکبر سے واقف ہوں۔ لیکن اُس کی ڈینگیں عبث ہیں، اُن کے پیچھے کچھ نہیں ہے۔

Therefore will I howl for Moab, and I will cry out for all Moab; mine heart shall mourn for the men of Kir–heres.

اِس لئے مَیں موآب پر آہ و زاری کر رہا، تمام موآب کے سبب سے چلّا رہا ہوں۔ قیرحراست کے باشندوں کا انجام دیکھ کر مَیں آہیں بھر رہا ہوں۔

O vine of Sibmah, I will weep for thee with the weeping of Jazer: thy plants are gone over the sea, they reach even to the sea of Jazer: the spoiler is fallen upon thy summer fruits and upon thy vintage.

اے سِبماہ کی انگور کی بیل، یعزیر کی نسبت مَیں کہیں زیادہ تجھ پر ماتم کر رہا ہوں۔ تیری کونپلیں یعزیر تک پھیلی ہوئی تھیں بلکہ سمندر کو پار بھی کرتی تھیں۔ لیکن اب تباہ کرنے والا دشمن تیرے پکے ہوئے انگوروں اور موسمِ گرما کے پھل پر ٹوٹ پڑا ہے۔

And joy and gladness is taken from the plentiful field, and from the land of Moab; and I have caused wine to fail from the winepresses: none shall tread with shouting; their shouting shall be no shouting.

اب خوشی و شادمانی موآب کے باغوں اور کھیتوں سے جاتی رہی ہے۔ مَیں نے انگور کا رس نکالنے کا کام روک دیا ہے۔ کوئی خوشی کے نعرے لگا لگا کر انگور کو پاؤں تلے نہیں روندتا۔ شور تو مچ رہا ہے، لیکن خوشی کے نعرے بلند نہیں ہو رہے بلکہ جنگ کے۔

From the cry of Heshbon even unto Elealeh, and even unto Jahaz, have they uttered their voice, from Zoar even unto Horonaim, as an heifer of three years old: for the waters also of Nimrim shall be desolate.

حسبون میں لوگ مدد کے لئے پکار رہے ہیں، اُن کی آواز اِلی عالی اور یہض تک سنائی دے رہی ہے۔ اِسی طرح ضُغر کی چیخیں حورونائم اور عجلت شلیشیاہ تک پہنچ گئی ہیں۔ کیونکہ نِمریم کا پانی بھی خشک ہو جائے گا۔“

Moreover I will cause to cease in Moab, saith the LORD, him that offereth in the high places, and him that burneth incense to his gods.

رب فرماتا ہے، ”موآب میں جو اونچی جگہوں پر چڑھ کر اپنے دیوتاؤں کو بخور اور باقی قربانیاں پیش کرتے ہیں اُن کا مَیں خاتمہ کر دوں گا۔

Therefore mine heart shall sound for Moab like pipes, and mine heart shall sound like pipes for the men of Kir–heres: because the riches that he hath gotten are perished.

اِس لئے میرا دل بانسری کے ماتمی سُر نکال کر موآب اور قیرحراست کے لئے نوحہ کر رہا ہے۔ کیونکہ اُن کی حاصل شدہ دولت جاتی رہی ہے۔

For every head shall be bald, and every beard clipped: upon all the hands shall be cuttings, and upon the loins sackcloth.

ہر سر گنجا، ہر داڑھی منڈوائی گئی ہے۔ ہر ہاتھ کی جِلد کو زخمی کر دیا گیا ہے، ہر کمر ٹاٹ سے ملبّس ہے۔

There shall be lamentation generally upon all the housetops of Moab, and in the streets thereof: for I have broken Moab like a vessel wherein is no pleasure, saith the LORD.

موآب کی تمام چھتوں پر اور اُس کے چوکوں میں آہ و زاری بلند ہو رہی ہے۔“ کیونکہ رب فرماتا ہے، ”مَیں نے موآب کو بےکار مٹی کے برتن کی طرح توڑ ڈالا ہے۔

They shall howl, saying, How is it broken down! how hath Moab turned the back with shame! so shall Moab be a derision and a dismaying to all them about him.

ہائے، موآب پاش پاش ہو گیا ہے! لوگ زار و قطار رو رہے ہیں، اور موآب نے شرم کے مارے اپنا منہ ڈھانپ لیا ہے۔ وہ مذاق کا نشانہ بن گیا ہے، اُسے دیکھ کر تمام پڑوسیوں کے رونگٹے کھڑے ہو گئے ہیں۔“

For thus saith the LORD; Behold, he shall fly as an eagle, and shall spread his wings over Moab.

رب فرماتا ہے، ”وہ دیکھو! دشمن عقاب کی طرح موآب پر جھپٹا مارتا ہے۔ اپنے پَروں کو پھیلا کر وہ پورے ملک پر سایہ ڈالتا ہے۔

Kerioth is taken, and the strong holds are surprised, and the mighty men's hearts in Moab at that day shall be as the heart of a woman in her pangs.

قریوت قلعوں سمیت اُس کے قبضے میں آ گیا ہے۔ اُس دن موآبی سورماؤں کا دل دردِ زہ میں مبتلا عورت کی طرح پیچ و تاب کھائے گا۔

And Moab shall be destroyed from being a people, because he hath magnified himself against the LORD.

کیونکہ موآبی قوم صفحۂ ہستی سے مٹ جائے گی، اِس لئے کہ وہ مغرور ہو کر رب کے خلاف کھڑی ہو گئی ہے۔

Fear, and the pit, and the snare, shall be upon thee, O inhabitant of Moab, saith the LORD.

اے موآبی قوم، دہشت، گڑھا اور پھندا تیرے نصیب میں ہیں۔“

He that fleeth from the fear shall fall into the pit; and he that getteth up out of the pit shall be taken in the snare: for I will bring upon it, even upon Moab, the year of their visitation, saith the LORD.

کیونکہ رب فرماتا ہے، ”جو دہشت سے بھاگ کر بچ جائے وہ گڑھے میں گر جائے گا، اور جو گڑھے سے نکل جائے وہ پھندے میں پھنس جائے گا۔ کیونکہ مَیں موآب پر اُس کی عدالت کا سال لاؤں گا۔

They that fled stood under the shadow of Heshbon because of the force: but a fire shall come forth out of Heshbon, and a flame from the midst of Sihon, and shall devour the corner of Moab, and the crown of the head of the tumultuous ones.

پناہ گزین تھکے ہارے حسبون کے سائے میں رُک جاتے ہیں۔ لیکن افسوس، حسبون سے آگ نکل آئی ہے اور سیحون بادشاہ کے شہر میں سے شعلہ بھڑک اُٹھا ہے جو موآب کی پیشانی کو اور شور مچانے والوں کے چاندوں کو نذرِ آتش کرے گا۔

Woe be unto thee, O Moab! the people of Chemosh perisheth: for thy sons are taken captives, and thy daughters captives.

اے موآب، تجھ پر افسوس! کموس دیوتا کے پرستار نیست و نابود ہیں، تیرے بیٹے بیٹیاں قیدی بن کر جلاوطن ہو گئے ہیں۔

Yet will I bring again the captivity of Moab in the latter days, saith the LORD. Thus far is the judgment of Moab.

لیکن آنے والے دنوں میں مَیں موآب کو بحال کروں گا۔“ یہ رب کا فرمان ہے۔ یہاں موآب پر عدالت کا فیصلہ اختتام پر پہنچ گیا ہے۔
