Isaiah 33

Woe to thee that spoilest, and thou wast not spoiled; and dealest treacherously, and they dealt not treacherously with thee! when thou shalt cease to spoil, thou shalt be spoiled; and when thou shalt make an end to deal treacherously, they shall deal treacherously with thee.

تجھ پر افسوس، جو دوسروں کو برباد کرنے کے باوجود برباد نہیں ہوا۔ تجھ پر افسوس، جو دوسروں سے بےوفا تھا، حالانکہ تیرے ساتھ بےوفائی نہیں ہوئی۔ لیکن تیری باری بھی آئے گی۔ بربادی کا کام تکمیل تک پہنچانے پر تُو خود برباد ہو جائے گا۔ بےوفائی کا کام تکمیل تک پہنچانے پر تیرے ساتھ بھی بےوفائی کی جائے گی۔

O LORD, be gracious unto us; we have waited for thee: be thou their arm every morning, our salvation also in the time of trouble.

اے رب، ہم پر مہربانی کر! ہم تجھ سے اُمید رکھتے ہیں۔ ہر صبح ہماری طاقت بن، مصیبت کے وقت ہماری رِہائی کا باعث ہو۔

At the noise of the tumult the people fled; at the lifting up of thyself the nations were scattered.

تیری گرجتی آواز سن کر قومیں بھاگ جاتی ہیں، تیرے اُٹھ کھڑے ہونے پر وہ چاروں طرف بکھر جاتی ہیں۔

And your spoil shall be gathered like the gathering of the caterpiller: as the running to and fro of locusts shall he run upon them.

اے قومو، جو مال تم نے لُوٹ لیا وہ دوسرے چھین لیں گے۔ جس طرح ٹڈیوں کے غول فصلوں پر جھپٹ کر سب کچھ چٹ کر جاتے ہیں اُسی طرح دوسرے تمہاری پوری ملکیت پر ٹوٹ پڑیں گے۔

The LORD is exalted; for he dwelleth on high: he hath filled Zion with judgment and righteousness.

رب سرفراز ہے اور بلندیوں پر سکونت کرتا ہے۔ وہی صیون کو انصاف اور صداقت سے مالامال کرے گا۔

And wisdom and knowledge shall be the stability of thy times, and strength of salvation: the fear of the LORD is his treasure.

اُن دنوں میں وہ تیری حفاظت کی ضمانت ہو گا۔ تجھے نجات، حکمت اور دانائی کا ذخیرہ حاصل ہو گا، اور رب کا خوف تیرا خزانہ ہو گا۔

Behold, their valiant ones shall cry without: the ambassadors of peace shall weep bitterly.

سنو، اُن کے سورمے گلیوں میں چیخ رہے ہیں، امن کے سفیر تلخ آہیں بھر رہے ہیں۔

The highways lie waste, the wayfaring man ceaseth: he hath broken the covenant, he hath despised the cities, he regardeth no man.

سڑکیں ویران و سنسان ہیں، اور مسافر اُن پر نظر ہی نہیں آتے۔ معاہدے کو توڑا گیا ہے، لوگوں نے اُس کے گواہوں کو رد کر کے انسان کو حقیر جانا ہے۔

The earth mourneth and languisheth: Lebanon is ashamed and hewn down: Sharon is like a wilderness; and Bashan and Carmel shake off their fruits.

زمین خشک ہو کر مُرجھا گئی ہے، لبنان کملا کر شرمندہ ہو گیا ہے۔ شارون کا میدان بےشجر بیابان سا بن گیا ہے، بسن اور کرمل اپنے پتے جھاڑ رہے ہیں۔

Now will I rise, saith the LORD; now will I be exalted; now will I lift up myself.

لیکن رب فرماتا ہے، ”اب مَیں اُٹھ کھڑا ہوں گا، اب مَیں سرفراز ہو کر اپنی قوت کا اظہار کروں گا۔

Ye shall conceive chaff, ye shall bring forth stubble: your breath, as fire, shall devour you.

تم اُمید سے ہو، لیکن پیٹ میں سوکھی گھاس ہی ہے، اور جنم دیتے وقت بھوسا ہی پیدا ہو گا۔ جب تم پھونک مارو گے تو تمہارا دم آگ بن کر تم ہی کو راکھ کر دے گا۔

And the people shall be as the burnings of lime: as thorns cut up shall they be burned in the fire.

اقوام یوں بھسم ہو جائیں گی کہ چونا ہی رہ جائے گا، وہ خاردار جھاڑیوں کی طرح کٹ کر جل جائیں گی۔

Hear, ye that are far off, what I have done; and, ye that are near, acknowledge my might.

اے دُوردراز علاقوں کے باشندو، وہ کچھ سنو جو مَیں نے کیا ہے۔ اے قریب کے بسنے والو، میری قدرت جان لو۔“

The sinners in Zion are afraid; fearfulness hath surprised the hypocrites. Who among us shall dwell with the devouring fire? who among us shall dwell with everlasting burnings?

صیون میں گناہ گار گھبرا گئے ہیں، بےدین پریشانی کے عالم میں تھرتھراتے ہوئے چلّا رہے ہیں، ”ہم میں سے کون بھسم کرنے والی اِس آگ کے سامنے زندہ رہ سکتا ہے؟ ہم میں سے کون ہمیشہ تک بھڑکنے والی اِس انگیٹھی کے قریب قائم رہ سکتا ہے؟“

He that walketh righteously, and speaketh uprightly; he that despiseth the gain of oppressions, that shaketh his hands from holding of bribes, that stoppeth his ears from hearing of blood, and shutteth his eyes from seeing evil;

لیکن وہ شخص قائم رہے گا جو راست زندگی گزارے اور سچائی بولے، جو غیرقانونی نفع اور رشوت لینے سے انکار کرے، جو قاتلانہ سازشوں اور غلط کام سے گریز کرے۔

He shall dwell on high: his place of defence shall be the munitions of rocks: bread shall be given him; his waters shall be sure.

وہی بلندیوں پر بسے گا اور پہاڑ کے قلعے میں محفوظ رہے گا۔ اُسے روٹی ملتی رہے گی، اور پانی کی کبھی کمی نہ ہو گی۔

Thine eyes shall see the king in his beauty: they shall behold the land that is very far off.

تیری آنکھیں بادشاہ اور اُس کی پوری خوب صورتی کا مشاہدہ کریں گی، وہ ایک وسیع اور دُور دُور تک پھیلا ہوا ملک دیکھیں گی۔

Thine heart shall meditate terror. Where is the scribe? where is the receiver? where is he that counted the towers?

تب تُو گزرے ہوئے ہول ناک وقت پر غور و خوض کر کے پوچھے گا، ”دشمن کے بڑے افسر کدھر ہیں؟ ٹیکس لینے والا کہاں غائب ہوا؟ وہ افسر کدھر ہے جو بُرجوں کا حساب کتاب کرتا تھا؟“

Thou shalt not see a fierce people, a people of a deeper speech than thou canst perceive; of a stammering tongue, that thou canst not understand.

آئندہ تجھے یہ گستاخ قوم نظر نہیں آئے گی، یہ لوگ جو ناقابلِ فہم زبان بولتے اور ہکلاتے ہوئے ایسی باتیں کرتے ہیں جو سمجھ میں نہیں آتیں۔

Look upon Zion, the city of our solemnities: thine eyes shall see Jerusalem a quiet habitation, a tabernacle that shall not be taken down; not one of the stakes thereof shall ever be removed, neither shall any of the cords thereof be broken.

ہماری عیدوں کے شہر صیون پر نظر ڈال! تیری آنکھیں یروشلم کو دیکھیں گی۔ اُس وقت وہ محفوظ سکونت گاہ ہو گا، ایک خیمہ جو آئندہ کبھی نہیں ہٹے گا، جس کی میخیں کبھی نہیں نکلیں گی، اور جس کا ایک رسّا بھی نہیں ٹوٹے گا۔

But there the glorious LORD will be unto us a place of broad rivers and streams; wherein shall go no galley with oars, neither shall gallant ship pass thereby.

وہاں رب ہی ہمارا زورآور آقا ہو گا، اور شہر دریاؤں کا مقام ہو گا، ایسی چوڑی ندیوں کا مقام جن پر نہ چپو والی کشتی، نہ شاندار جہاز چلے گا۔

For the LORD is our judge, the LORD is our lawgiver, the LORD is our king; he will save us.

کیونکہ رب ہی ہمارا قاضی، رب ہی ہمارا سردار اور رب ہی ہمارا بادشاہ ہے۔ وہی ہمیں چھٹکارا دے گا۔

Thy tacklings are loosed; they could not well strengthen their mast, they could not spread the sail: then is the prey of a great spoil divided; the lame take the prey.

دشمن کا بیڑا غرق ہونے والا ہے۔ بادبان کے رسّے ڈھیلے ہیں، اور نہ وہ مستول کو مضبوط رکھنے، نہ بادبان کو پھیلائے رکھنے میں مدد دیتے ہیں۔ اُس وقت کثرت کا لُوٹا ہوا مال بٹے گا، بلکہ اِتنا مال ہو گا کہ لنگڑے بھی لُوٹنے میں شرکت کریں گے۔

And the inhabitant shall not say, I am sick: the people that dwell therein shall be forgiven their iniquity.

صیون کا کوئی بھی فرد نہیں کہے گا، ”مَیں کمزور ہوں،“ کیونکہ اُس کے باشندوں کے گناہ بخشے گئے ہوں گے۔
